We have no idea why Milan Fashion Week isn’t as popular as New York, London or Paris, because the latest collections to debut on the Italian catwalks were out of this world. We don’t think Giorgio Armani is going to have too much of a tough time getting support for MFW if the latest shows from Moschino, Prada, Fendi and Just Cavalli were anything to go by.
Jeremy Scott’s first collection for Moschino was always going to be an interesting one, and we definitely think he met expectations and pulled a stellar collection – and catwalk show – out the bag! Jeremy Scott showcased everything from a revamped McDonalds logo to everyone’s favourite little underwater creature, Spongebob Squarepants, to all-else in-between.
Katy Perry and Rita Ora showed no signs of a hangover – despite partying until the wee hours of the morning after attending the Brits – as they were the modelling guests of honour on the Moschino autumn/winter 2014 catwalk.
The ladies stole the show as they strutted down the catwalk to take their well-deserved seats in the front row to watch the rest of the new-season pieces make their debut. If they ever fancy a career change, we definitely think they have what it takes to make it big in the modelling world!
If we could take only two things away from the Fendi autumn/winter 2014 show, it would be the Karl Lagerfeld doll/handbag which Cara Delevingne (who was walking exclusively for Fendi, may we add) carried down the catwalk, Georgia May Jagger’s outfit. We love GMJ at the best of times, but her appearance on the Fendi catwalk was above and beyond anything we could have ever expected.
Kaiser Karl himself described the Fendi collection as brutal and poetic, and we definitely got that memo given all the dark yet fluid pieces. Tweed, leather, quilt were all there, as were more ankle boots than you could shake a stick at.
And finally, the Just Cavalli show was everything we expected it to be; it was loud, fun, creative, bold – we could go on for days – with more animal prints than a safari! Zebra print, fringe detailing anywhere and everywhere, round revamps of those classic John Lennon sunglasses, and so much more!
