It can be really easy to get out of alignment with yourself.
The stress of juggling daily life is enough to make us feel out of sync.
What’s most important is recognising when you’re not in alignment so you can get back on track and reconnect with what really matters to you, and find that sense of purpose and stability again.
And that’s what I’m going to tackle here. I’m a mum of two under 5, I run my own business and honestly I get out of alignment ALOT.
These are the strategies that have worked for me and can hopefully help you find your balance and feel like yourself again.
What Does Being Aligned In Life Really Mean?
When I talk about being ‘aligned’ in life, it’s all about that sweet spot where your actions, your values, and your purpose are all aligned.
You wake up each day feeling energised because what you do reflects who you are and what you genuinely care about.
It’s about having that inner compass that guides you, making decisions that feel right and pursuing goals that light you up inside.
And you know you’re out of alignment when things just don’t feel right. It’s like wearing shoes that are just a little too tight – you can go about your day, but your feet a hurt a bit and you feel uncomfortable.
Maybe you’re feeling more tired than usual, even if you’re getting enough sleep. Or perhaps you’re finding it hard to feel excited about things that used to light you up.
It can also show up in your productivity levels dipping or feeling like you’re just going through the motions rather than living.
These are signs that what you’re doing isn’t quite matching up with what truly matters to you. It’s your body and mind’s way of telling you, it’s time to reassess and realign.
How To Get In Alignment
Getting back into alignment doesn’t happen overnight, and that’s absolutely okay.
Much like taking care of a plant, realigning your life requires time, patience, and a bit of trial and error.
For some, it might be a matter of weeks to start feeling like they’re on the right path again, while for others, it could take longer.
The key is not to rush the process. Here are a few things you can do to start feeling like “you” again.
Read Books That Inspire You
Inspirational books have this incredible ability to shift our mindset and perspectives in profound ways.
When you’re feeling out of alignment, it can often be because you’re stuck in a mental loop or seeing your life through a narrow lens.
Diving into stories and teachings that offer new insights, or remind you of the beauty and potential within you, can be the gentle nudge your mind needs to start seeing things differently.
This shift in perception can slowly coax you back towards a path that feels more authentic and aligned with your true self.
It’s not just about the motivational quotes or the success stories; it’s about opening your heart and mind to possibilities you hadn’t considered before.
Here are a few books that are like hugs for the soul. Each of these reads is a treasure chest of wisdom, empowering you to see the beauty in your personal journey and inspiring you to live your most aligned life.

Reflect on What Truly Matters
When you’re feeling off, it’s usually a sign that something in your life needs attention. Take some time to reflect on what exactly feels out of alignment. Is it your job? Your relationship? Your health? Try to pinpoint the root causes making you feel this way.
Look within and ask yourself – does your current perception of reality match your true knowledge and understanding of mind?
What areas feel out of energetic alignment or vibrational match? Reflection provides powerful steps towards ultimate alignment.
For around 10-15 mins each day, journal or meditate in peaceful and distraction-free space.
Light a candle, put on some background music, put your phone on silent…whatever makes you feel relaxed and at peace.
During this time, be genuinely honest with yourself about your thoughts and feelings.
Ask yourself open-ended questions about your dreams, fears, and the obstacles you’re facing.
You’ll be surprised how much you uncover about yourself and how you’re feeling when you reflect with an open heart and mind.
Go Back to the Basics for a Fresh Start
Often when we feel off, it’s because we’ve stopped doing simple things that keep us grounded like getting enough sleep, eating well, drinking a decent amount of water and exercising.
Don’t underestimate how huge an impact just doing the fundamentals can have on your mood and outlook.
Establish daily habits that support your sense of alignment. Build a solid foundation with achievable goals and actual actions.
Create a morning routine (and an evening one too) that incorporates daily wellness habits like going to bed on time, or drinking hot water and lemon in the morning.
For me, I make it a habit to wind down by 9.30pm with a good book and some nighttime tea so that I’m asleep by 10pm and get a good nights sleep.
Tip: Make a list of 5-10 basic daily habits to implement – things like waking up early, reading, exercising, etc.
Let Go of What’s Holding You Back
Do you feel weighed down by stuff that doesn’t serve you anymore – bad relationships, junk cluttering your home, worries about the past, present or even the future? I get it.
Life piles on baggage before we realise it. But you have the power to let go of anything dragging you down. Release what’s no longer working so you can move forward freely and make room for joy.
Starting to declutter your life from the baggage that weighs you down can feel daunting, but it’s incredibly freeing once you begin.
Start small – perhaps by tackling one unhelpful belief at a time. Acknowledging these items or thoughts and understanding why they no longer serve you is a powerful step towards letting them go.
Remember, it’s okay to feel emotional as you release these aspects of your life.
Consider writing a goodbye letter to a part of your life or people you’re moving on from, or create a small ritual of release, like taking a cleansing walk.
The key is to be gentle with yourself through this process; it’s not about perfection but progress.
Tip: Write a list of things that no longer serve you and make an action plan to release them from your life.
Refresh Your Home for a New You
Decluttering your home isn’t just about getting rid of things; it’s about creating a space that reflects and supports your best self.
Start by categorising your items into keep, donate, and discard piles. Be honest with what brings you joy and usefulness.

Tip: Set a timer for 10 minutes and focus on decluttering one area, then move to the next. Even small progress creates change.
Structure your days intentionally to keep you energetically aligned
Taking the time to intentionally structure your days isn’t about micromanaging every moment; it’s about aligning your daily activities with your long-term goals and values.
It’s the subtle art of saying “no” to things that don’t serve you and “yes” to the things that propel you forward. Start simple by identifying three things you want to achieve each day.
These could range from personal growth tasks, work-related goals, or even self-care activities. The trick isn’t to overburden your schedule but to create a balanced and achievable plan that keeps you focused and moving in the right direction.
Tip: Make a daily schedule outlining your ideal routine. Post it somewhere visible as a guide.
Be Thankful Every Day
Did you know that feeling grateful can actually change your vibe and bring more good stuff your way? It’s like magic.
When you focus on the blessings you’ve got, instead of worrying about what’s missing, you start seeing the world in a whole new light.
Why not kick off your day on a high note? Jot down three things you’re thankful for each morning. It could be as simple as having a cosy place to call home or that first delicious sip of coffee.
Keep a gratitude journal by your bed. Each night, right before you hit the sack, write down the awesome stuff that happened. Trust me, it’s a game-changer.
Be Kind to Yourself
Finally, go easy on yourself, especially when you’re going through a realignment period.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, getting back into alignment can take time. Celebrate small wins, get lots of rest and speak to yourself with kindness and compassion.
Self-compassion energies the realignment process from within.
Tip: Notice any negative self-talk and consciously shift it to something encouraging.
