Talking about this collaboration and The Dying Swan costume Lagerfeld said:
“As a child, I was impressed by old images of Pavlova dancing that ballet.
The cast are obviously excited about their haute couture costumes, Elena Glurdjidze the senior principal dancer exclaimed:
“I have seen his drawing of the tutu-it looks so light, almost alive. We always say that the look is 50 per cent of how you are going to dance, so it is very important to have a beautiful costume.”
The dance troupe Ballet Russes was formed in 1909 in Paris and had costumes designed by Coco herself and Picasso.
