Frills and ruffles are the perfect way to glam up a simple dress or even a pair of shoes. Designers went down the romantic route this season and weren’t in any way subtle about it.
Here’s a snippet of modern frills from the fall 2009 runways:
Louis Vuitton
Marc Jacobs went frivolous and feminine for the Louis Vuitton 2009 fall collection. While the bunny ears might have been a bit OTT, his ruffles added flattering shape to shoulders, hips and sleeves.
Erdem
Jumpsuits and empire line dresses were adorned with opulent frills around the neckline, adding texture to Moralioglu’s complex print work. This simple addition makes a romantic statement and is perfect for keeping in that winter chill!
Roksanda Ilincic
Big and exaggerated was the theme for Roksanda Ilincic’s catwalk. Sculpted shoulders and tailored trousers were juxtaposed with soft drapery and loud ruffles for a look-at-me take on the frilly trend.
