In a bid to unleash the inner Budget Fashionista in all of us our favourite budget loving, money maximising fashion blogger Kathryn Finney – also known as The Budget Fashionista – has packed all her amazing secrets and cost-cutting tips into one book titled How to Be a Budget Fashionista: The Ultimate Guide to Looking Fabulous for Less. Much like those self help manuals that promise a new and improved you, “How to be a Budget Fashionista” may not produce instantaneous miracles but it’ll certainly force you to face those demons. Advice ranges from learning how to budget to finding your personal style.
Now I’m not too bad at budgeting so I decided in order to get the best out of the book I’d get practical with some of the tips and spent a day focused on closet inventory and organisation. I have to admit I felt all the better for it. What followed was a complete stress less process every time I had to put together a fabulous outfit for a social event as well as a duplicate free shopping list of items I actually needed rather than lusted for. Unfortunately if you live outside of the U.S some chapters such as details for great sample and warehouse sales aren’t applicable and I couldn’t help but think how much better it’d be if there were a couple of in depth sections for selected countries.
The level of self promotion within the book was slightly annoying and I could have done without the constant references back to budgetfashionista.com but this book is definitely a keeper. It’s so timeless that you can’t wait to pass on the wise words contained within, to anyone and everyone.
