Last Thursday private members club Hedges and Butler played host to “Collective , an evening which consisted of wandering banquets and an array of some of London’s fresh design talent. Amongst the chosen few was Greek designer Romina Karamanea whose work I’ve been completely enthralled with ever since I came across her interview with fellow bloggers The Style Scout. It was no surprise to learn that Karamanea was an art design student before taking up fashion at Central saint Martins as her work is pure art; you can stand and stare at each garment for ages just admiring the craftsmanship. And that’s exactly what I did…..
We were treated to a capsule collection that was displayed within a quaint caged room in which I spent a significant amount of time just marvelling at Karamanea’s innovative use of exaggerated shapes to create such beautifully proportioned garments. Her work is so feminine and modern, yet you can spot subtle influences of her love for historical costumes. I especially loved this white tailored coat dress and a violet jewelled satin skirt….see after the jump for more images….
