Ever since I was sixteen I’ve been a leather jacket girl. Like a female Julian Casablancas, I’m never seen without one.

I love their insouciance and the way they toughen up any outfit.  Trends in outerwear come and go every season, but the leather jacket is like the defiant older brother which refuses to leave – find the right one and it might just become your best friend.

Step forward Acne’s Smith suede biker jacket. The Swedish fashion house rarely disappoints and this leather lovely really ticks all the boxes.

It’s made from super-velvety navy blue suede; less harsh than black and perfect for those who want a slightly softer finish. The three-quarter length sleeves make it a perfect transeasonal piece for now, and the quirky epaulets and lapels are adorned with hefty gold studs whilst three diagonally-placed zip pockets sit at the front.

It’ll look fantastic with a pop of colour this springs and its navy shade tunes into the Parisian trend perfectly – just add a red and white Breton top and cropped jeans, et voilà!

Failing that, unleash your rebellious alter-ego complete with skinny-legged trousers, a vintage tee and chunky patent heels. Go on, you know you want to…
