Well what do you know? Looks like Lara Stone’s broken her Calvin Klein exclusive by becoming the new face of Tom Ford Beauty if these ads that broke late last week are anything to go by.
Appearing alongside the designer in the campaign for his new beauty collection, the Dutch model – who’s still appearing in ads for Calvin Klein since signing the contract a year ago – appears naked as she poses, bright pout and all, plush against Ford’s beard.
Frankly, we’d break an exclusive to get fondled by Ford’s face, too.
The ads were shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Pigott – not Ford or Terry Richardson, as in previous campaigns – to showcase the designer’s new beauty and skincare line and, as anyone who’s ever worn one of his super-moisturising lipsticks will tell you, the collection couldn’t come soon enough.
In the designer’s own words it’s “practical” – “I don’t like B.S. and a lot of promises, and there are a lot of products out there you don’t even need,” he says – and includes foundation, primer, eye shadows, lip glosses, brow tint pens – “a strong eye and a strong mouth” are key as far as makeup goes – as well as a cleanser and an oil-based serum.
The reason? A mishap with a cucumber when he was 14.
“I’ve cared about cosmetics and makeup since I was a kid,” Ford told WWD, recalling an experiment with cucumber slices that took a sinister turn.
“When I was 14, I had to be taken to the emergency room because the cucumber slices I had put on my eyes — to camouflage the bags — had made them swell shut. I could eat cucumbers, but my eyes were clearly allergic to them.”
We can’t wait to get our hands on on the products when they launch this autumn. Click through the gallery below to see the full campaign.
