Karen Elson and Jack White celebrated their sixth anniversary this year in a somewhat unusual fashion – with a divorce party.
The couple announced before the weekend that they were ending their six-year marriage with a party in Nashville, where family and close friends were invited to “to celebrate their sixth anniversary and their upcoming divorce with a positive swing band hum dinger” on Friday.
“The party will include dancing, photos, memories, and drinks with alcohol in them,” reads the invite. “This is for close personal friends and family, so please no plus ones or dead beats”.
We’re sad at this news because, for one thing, it means no more joint appearances like the above at red carpet events, but we’re glad to see they’re remaining light-hearted and friendly about the whole thing.
The couple said in a statement:
We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow. In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party, an evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family.
