To all those who’ve signed the petition to bring Alexander McQueen’s Savage Beauty exhibition to London, may you reap the rewards this morning – it’s only coming home!

Following the most successful run ever recorded at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition is coming to capital thanks to more than 2,000 petition signatures.

Like any news worth getting out of bed for, there’s no official announcement just yet, but McQueen confirmed they “have been in discussion with a number of major venues in London for some time now” to host the exhibition on British shores.

“Alexander McQueen appreciates the huge amount of interest the public has shown towards the Savage Beauty exhibition,” the label said in a statement to Melanie Rickey, who is, so far, the only person to have drawn a few words on record from the team.

“Please be assured that an official announcement will be made the moment we confirm our plans for London.”

The exhibition will likely take place at a yet-to-be-confirmed venue in 2013, which also marks the 20th anniversary of the McQueen label, though some suggestions – including Somerset House, the Truman Brewery, the Tower of London, the London Dungeons and Battersea Power Station – are already being thrown around.

Needless to say we’ll be listening out for updates.
