Glamour seemed to be on the agenda on day three of London Fashion Week. Afshin Feiz pioneered grown up girliness in his Spring/Summer 09 collection.
Gorgeous pastels set against dove greys was the Feiz colour palette. Gowns and jumpsuits of varying lengths glided down the runway. In draped chiffon Feiz made a feature of the female body with cutaway sections, which were then encircled by mirrored embellishments.
You can’t really fault such artistic creations, with swirling fabrics, almost cape like at times, the dresses were certainly statement pieces. Feiz is clearly a perfectionist, with attention to detail being his strong point, features such as button details that ran above and below a cutaway backless dress, ruffled bibs, chain mail designs that transformed into jumpsuits, were just a few of his superb details.
It wasn’t all party dresses though; men’s style trousers were a fantastic alternative to the high maintenance of the gowns. The trousers were paired with simple silk vests and oversized boy’s blazers. The blazer was one of my favourite pieces, especially when paired with one of the cocktail length chiffon dresses; it just toughened the look up and made it a whole lot chicer. A pair of mirrored braces also caught my attention, and once more showed Feiz’s eye for detail.
There were many beautiful dresses here, they did all run on the same theme, and one couldn’t help feeling it was a little repetitive as a collection. But, this would be my only criticism of the otherwise luxuriously romantic designs.
