With a celebrity riddled front row, Girl’s Aloud’s Nicola, Peaches Geldoff, Jodie Kidd, Jasmine Guinness, to name just a few, I settled down quite comfortably and eagerly awaited the show.
The show was split into three sections for each of the three designers who were chosen by a panel as ones to watch to show their capsule collections.
The first designer up was Alexander Koutny, with his collection inspired by power lines and pylons I was a little nervous to see what would appear. The style of dresses can only be described as voluminous body con; panelled dresses with green or red underlay were complimented by sheer black chiffons and organzas. The looks were couture driven, with some pieces more wearable than others. An interesting designer and one to watch, it’ll be interesting to see how he progresses.
The next designer was Rozalb de Mura., showing an exciting, avant-garde menswear collection. It saw massively oversized shorts paired over trousers, along with huge bell sleeved shirts which were actually rather stunning. The cream linen suit with added raised squares was questionable as was the hessian sack smock dress, yes on a man. It was a nice show to see, but whether it is a wearable collection remains to be seen.
The last designer was Mark Fast, his speciality is knitwear, but this is no grandma or even chic designer Louise Goldin, no this is something else entirely. Body con knitwear, tight fitting, sheer and holey. For me this was not a winner, whilst I saw the merit in the other designers, I just felt the designs looked cheap and rather tasteless. You can see that there was great talent behind the skin like knits, but for me I look for style and wearability and in this collection there was neither.
