Despite all the early rumours about Christopher Kane landing the Balenciaga job, Alexander Wang’s name has now been thrown into the equation too. And according to New York Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn, it looks pretty likely that he could take Nicolas Ghesquière’s place as Creative Director of the brand.

“In the continuing Balenciaga drama, Alexander Wang appears to be the leading candidate to succeed the star designer Nicolas Ghesquière, and an announcement of his appointment could be made as early as next week, a Paris source with knowledge of the discussions said on Wednesday night,” she wrote on the New York Times fashion blog, On The Runway.

We know we should take all fashion rumours with a pinch of salt, but let’s not forget that it was Cathy Horyn who broke the news about Raf Simons heading to Dior back in April…

What do we think? Do we think she is telling the truth, and more importantly do we think Alexander Wang would be a good replacement? There are only two days left until Nicolas Ghesquière officially leaves Balenciaga, so a decision needs to be made pretty quickly either way!
