Olivia Wilde is walking proof that the contrasting prints and colours thing works!
If you want to get on board the trend of mixing and matching contrasting prints and colours but aren’t too sure about how it might look, then you’re in luck. You’re in luck because the gorgeous Olivia Wilde is walking proof of how well it can work when it’s done right. And believe us, she really has done it right! The actress and new yummy mummy was out and about in New York, wearing a very attention-grabbing ensemble from the Stella McCartney Resort 2015 collection. Aside from the shoes, Olivia wore the pieces exactly as they were presented in the designer’s lookbook, but still managed to make the look her own. She accessorised her outfit with a mini Proenza Schouler bag (oh, to have her wardrobe!) and blue Stuart Weitzman sandals. We really can’t fault a single aspect of this look; we’re going to raid our wardrobes for a striped tee and pair it with our favourite printed maxi skirt to try and recreate the look ourselves. So we told you who the big award winners were earlier this morning, but now it’s time to take a look at who the sartorial winners were – the ones who stole the show and our hearts with their outfit choices! As Rihanna was collecting a Style Icon gong, it seemed only right that she make an iconic statement on the red carpet – and that’s exactly what she did in a glittering bespoke Adam Selman ensemble with 216,000 Swarovski crystals. Precise! Also impressing on the CFDA red carpet were Blake Lively (no surprises there, especially following her Cannes Film Festival style triumphs), supermodel extraordinaire Heidi Klum, Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, and a gorgeous Olivia Wilde who still has that pregnant glow despite giving birth a few months ago. Motherhood clearly agrees with her! Take a look at the rest of our best-dressed celebs below, and let us know who gets your ultimate vote in the comments below or on Twitter. Read MoreWATCH: The 86th Academy Awards (Oscars 2014): The best dressed!
The wait is finally over – the biggest red carpet day in Hollywood has officially arrived, and if you’ve been following us on Twitter, you’ll probably already know that we’ve been pretty excited about it! Popcorn, coffee, tablets (the technological kind), laptops and phones were on standby throughout the night to make sure we didn’t miss a single second of the 86th Academy Awards! We were waiting for 12 Years a Slave actress Lupita Nyong’o’s arrival with baited breath, and think she definitely saved the best dress for last. She stepped onto the red carpet in a custom-made Prada dress that came in a stunning duck egg blue colour, complete with the hottest accessory of the night: a sparkling head band! Cate Blanchett – another one of our red carpet faves – didn’t let us down with her sartorial choice either, looking sensational in a Giorgio Armani dress that she owned from the second she stepped out of her car. Charlize Theron wowed the crowd in a black Dior gown (it pains us to say it, but we think her Dior dress trumped Jennifer Lawrence’s one – we still love you though, J-Law!), as did Kate Hudson and Jessica Biel in their respective and sensational Atelier Versace and Chanel Couture dresses. And it goes without saying, but Angelina Jolie stole the show in her bedazzling Elie Saab Couture dress and more or less put everyone else in the shade when she and Brad Pitt arrived just in the nick of time. Once again, we think the stars outdid themselves on the red carpet this year, meaning we had a bit of a tough time narrowing down our ultimate favourites. Check out our highlights from the Oscars 2014 red carpet, and don’t forget to tell us who gets your best-dressed vote […]
Read MoreDakota Fanning vs. Olivia Wilde…Who wore A.L.C. better?
This week’s fash-off is quite the monochrome style match. With Dakota Fanning in white and Olivia Wilde in black, both ladies donned the A.L.C. Petra dress months apart, complete with head turning effect. First up to slip into the form-flattering dress was Olivia Wilde, who took the classic LBD route on the red carpet at the For the Love of Cinema event at the Tribeca Film Festival, back in April. Accessorising with a black clutch and Tabitha Simmons Dee sandals, neutral make-up and softly tousled hair nicely rounded off Olivia’s look. But giving the gorgeous Hollywood darling a run for her money was Dakota Fanning, who went with the white version at last month’s Festival du Film International of Rio de Janeiro. Sleek hair and barely-there make-up was on offer, whilst an unexpected flash of colour was delivered courtesy of deep red, patent-leather Christian Louboutin Iriza pumps. So, whose look will be victorious in securing this week’s coveted title of style champion? Given our penchant for LBDs, we’d love to say Olivia, but, a twist on a clean look is just as welcome. Therefore, we duly crown Dakota this week’s winner – especially when it comes to playing down the angelic tones of a white look. Those red Loubs has us at hello! Agree with our style verdict? Tell us your thoughts below. [Images: Olivia; Dakota]
Read MoreOlivia Wilde is naturally beautiful for Allure’s October issue
We can’t seem to get enough of Olivia Wilde these days, and it looks like the magazines of the world feel the same way, as here she is on the cover of yet another glossy. This time round Olivia Wilde is gracing the cover of Allure’s October issue – no bells and whistles, no gimmicks, just her naturally beautiful face! It’s not just her flawless face we’re ogling at though, as she’s modelling some fierce fashion ensembles too, from Calvin Klein to 3.1 Philip Lim to Tom Ford and more. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: her SNL fiancé Jason Sudeikis is one lucky man. Although if Olivia’s interview is anything to go by, she thinks it’s the other way round… “I met Jason, and I thought he was so charming. He’s a great dancer and I’m a sucker for great dancers,” she gushed to the mag. “But he didn’t even get my number. Over the next six months we kept running into each other. One night my best guy friend walked up to him and said, ‘This is Olivia’s number. Use it.’ That was the beginning.” Aww – what a great story to tell the kids and grandkids! You can read the rest of Olivia’s interview and see her unmissable editorial pics in Allure‘s October issue, out September 24th.
Read MoreOlivia Wilde dares to bare in Gucci at Rush London premiere
Wilde by name and wild by sartorial nature. Olivia Wilde dared to bare at the premiere of her new film Rush in London’s Leicester Square last night, opting to walk the red carpet in a dangerously plunging black Gucci jumpsuit that no doubt got her a lot of attention. The actress ensured that the rest of her look was just as bold, edgy and sexy by adding a seriously bold red lip, statement eye make-up and no distracting accessories. The simplicity was part of this look’s appeal – Olivia didn’t put a foot wrong! If you think Gucci and Olivia are a match made in heaven, then we urge you to see Rush as her character Suzy Miller’s costumes were made by Gucci’s Frida Giannini herself. Is this one of Olivia Wilde’s sexiest looks to date? Jason Sudeikis is one lucky fella!
Read MoreGucci’s Frida Giannini designs Olivia Wilde’s Rush costumes
Olivia Wilde’s brand new film Rush – about Formula 1 in 1976 and directed by the Academy Award winning Ron Howard, fyi – just got that little bit more glamorous thanks to its new costume designer. Gucci’s very own Frida Giannini has got on board, and has been exploring both Formula 1 and 1970s archives to find inspiration for Olivia Wilde and costar Chris Hemsworth’s costumes. “The style of Suzy Miller (Olivia’s character) is the essence of Gucci as it captures the mixture of sexy allure and innocent naturalness that defined the style of the time,” she said. “The Seventies has always been a decade that has inspired me greatly, so it was extremely exciting to be asked by Ron Howard to help design wardrobes for RUSH. It is hard to think of a more glamorous profession than being a racing driver in the Seventies. The sketches are making us very excited, so we can’t wait to see the finished pieces. [Grazia]
Read MoreOlivia Wilde is Best Dressed of the Week in J.Mendel
Fair to say, we’re welcoming autumn/winter’s darker tones with open arms. As the sartorial spectrum travels from frothy summer hues and giddy prints to more serious, pared back silhouettes and shades, the red carpet is offering a constant stream of delectable looks that are no-brainers for our BDOTW accolade! And that’s why Olivia Wilde, in a greyish-blue J.Mendel pre-fall 2013 number, simply had us at hello! As she attended the screening of her latest movie, Drinking Buddies, in Brooklyn, Olivia cut an elegant figure in the simple yet striking, cut-out detail dress. The gorgeously flared skirt, interesting figure-hugging detail on the top half and next to nothing accessories made for an applause-worthy look. Completing Olivia’s look were nude Louboutin ‘Croisilleta’ sandals, a fine bracelet and her softly tousled, centre-parted ombré hair worn down. What do you make of Olivia’s understated look? Worthy of BDOTW, or did you have another, equally stylish, contender in mind? [Image: Zimbio]
Read MoreJennifer Aniston wears Valentino for Glamour US September 2013
The September issues are coming thick and fast, and we have another one for you to gaze at this morning, this time courtesy of Glamour US and the one and only Jennifer Aniston. Jen is a proven success as far as fashion glossies are concerned – they seem to shift an incredible amount of copies, so having her on a September issue makes perfect sense! The gorgeous actress looks just as fresh faced and fabulous as the first day her Friends character Rachel Green strutted into Central Perk in a wedding dress… no wonder Alexei Hay’s camera lens loves her! Jennifer chats to the mag (not just any old interviewer though: her We’re the Millers costar and fiancé of one Olivia Wilde, Jason Sudeikis) about family, her fiancé Justin Theroux, and choosing happiness… “If you’re not happy, you can become happy,” she told Jason. “Happiness is a choice. That’s the thing I really feel. Like with friends who refuse to get happy, who refuse to rise above the discomfort of where they’re at. You actually deserve to have a family . And once you meet yourself, and truly love yourself, then you attract that.” Aw, what a beautiful, inspirational thing to say! You can read more of her interview in the September issue of Glamour which hits newsstands on August 6th.
Read MoreOlivia Wilde wears Chanel for InStyle US August
InStyle US has gone stripped back and natural, tapping gorgeous actress Olivia Wilde for its August 2013 issue. This just goes to show that you don’t need your cover stars to flash the flesh and overdose on sparkle for an attention-grabbing cover! In fact, a Chanel jacket and Guess jeans will pretty much do the trick. See above for proof! Olivia posed for a host of stunning pictures, and also opened up about her fiancé Jason Sudeikis, her bridesmaids, her confidence, and her sartorial choices of the past. “I’m pretty comfortable in my own skin,” Olivia told the mag. “I’m not the neurotic type. I don’t think there are things lurking everywhere to destroy me. I live pretty much in the present.” “I used to dress like bluesman John Lee Hooker, with wide-collared polyester shirts and corduroy suits. Boys were my role models back then. I have the torso of a tall woman and the lower body of a short woman. Who knows what evolutionary purpose I’ve been made for? People always told me I had nice eyes, so I accentuated that.” InStyle US’s August issue is out right now; will you be adding it to your magazine collection?
Read MoreOlivia Wilde is the blushing bride for Avon’s Amour fragrance
We know what you’re thinking: Olivia Wilde and her Saturday Night Live fiancé Jason Sudeikis did a fine job of keeping their wedding ceremony hush hush until the big day was over… however, that’s not what’s going on in this pic, oh no. Olivia Wilde is just getting some practice in while promoting Avon’s brand new limited edition fragrance Amour, from the Today, Tomorrow, Always collection – and why shouldn’t she? If Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton can wear more than one wedding dress… Still, at least Jase has a little sneak preview of his wife-to-be in her wedding finery. We’re not sure who designed the dress in the advert though, but we do know that Olivia will be floating down the aisle in a bespoke Monique Lhuillier creation when the big day comes… she said so herself during an ABC interview! Avon’s Amour fragrance retails for £14, and is available to buy right now! [Marie Claire]
Read MoreOlivia Wilde talks falling “madly in love” in Marie Claire US April issue
Ever since her stint as rock chick bad gal Alex on The OC all those years ago, we’ve had a not-so-secret girl crush on Olivia Wilde. Can you blame us? So, you can imagine that we were pretty chuffed when we learnt she would be fronting Marie Claire US’s April issue. We were even more chuffed when we saw the cover and editorial images… chuffed and jealous, obviously. The gorgeous actress opened up to the mag about getting divorced, falling in love with Saturday Night Live’s hunky Jason Sudeikis, and planning their future together. “We were both seeing people but were single,” she recalled about getting together with Jason. “He seemed to really see me, see through the bullsh*t. He said very few words and couldn’t keep eye contact. He was so handsome and he could dance. “I thought, ‘I’m not beautiful enough or his type.’ I couldn’t wait to sit down and hear him talk. On our first date, in New York City, we closed the restaurant down at 2 am! He didn’t kiss me, and I was madly in love. I was overwhelmed.” Don’t be so self-deprecating Olivia, you’re both as hot as each other and your babies will be beautiful. And speaking of babies… “We’ve discussed all our ideals and hopes. I can’t wait for children. I’m open-minded about how many, but three, which I love, is like a little party.” Aww! You can read the rest of Olivia’s interview and see more stunning pictures in the Marie Claire US April issue which is out March 19th.
Read MoreOlivia Wilde unleashes our inner green-eyed monster in Calvin Klein Collection
We would probably instantly bypass this green Calvin Klein Collection dress if we saw it on a clothes hanger due to its sack-like qualities and the fact that it comes with a cape, which we very well know takes a certain type of person to pull off. Think Gwyneth Paltrow at this year’s Oscars for an example of how the cape is done right. However, Olivia Wilde makes the cape dress look like the easiest thing to wear, looking absolutely resplendent in the dress from the brand’s latest Resort collection. Olivia’s gold sandals, chic up-do, dramatic eye make-up and nude, plump lips accompanied her dress beautifully, resulting in an overall flawless and extremely enviable look. If we could look even half as good in a similar dress, we’d be very happy bunnies indeed! [Image]

Kanye West was definitely onto something when he told girlfriend Kim Kardashian that dressing in black and white was the sexiest sartorial option. Although he and Kim have got it wrong a few times (everyone’s human, after all) we hope they will look to Olivia Wilde for inspiration in the future. Olivia absolutely nailed the all-black trend when she attended Conde Nast Traveler’s “The Visionaries” event in New York last night in a stunning black Alexander McQueen dress. Olivia’s demure but edgy look highlights everything we love about the brand – the structure in the shoulders, the feminine flowing skirt and the sexiness in the plunging neckline. The actress doesn’t need a fancy belt to accentuate her tiny waist, but the one she chose was certainly a nice touch. It broke up black colour and complemented the golden tones of her hair and make-up beautifully. Olivia Wilde and Alexander McQueen are a dream team, and we can’t wait for them to join forces again!

Olivia Wilde is a natural beauty – she doesn’t need any glitz and glamour to look good – but here she is rocking a serious smoky eye to crank it up a notch anyway. Our perennial favourite for adding unrivalled rock and serious sex, the smoky eye is having a bit of a moment thanks to autumn’s beauty trends. But though it never really goes out of fashion, it can be fiddly to perfect. The trick to getting this look down? Don’t over do it. Start small and slowly apply more colour – remember, you can always add more, but you can’t take away quite so easily. If you’re gunning for more guidance, we’ve compiled a fool-proof product-by-product process that’ll help you perfect a smoky Sixties eye a la Olivia. A smoky eye will always look more defined against a beautiful backdrop. To get flawless looking skin like Olivia’s, try a foundation like Clinique’s Even Better Makeup for combination oily skins. This oil-free formula evens out skin tone and gives you a brighter complexion, which will make your eyes pop. Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF15 Combination Oily Skins, £22, available at Debenhams. Our favourite palette for creating a sexy smoky eye this season is Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Palette in Blue Dahlia. In gorgeous shades of midnight, blend your blues with basic black to create mysterious peepers with extra depth. Apply a fine layer of black along both lashlines, shaping it into an extention of your eye shape before blending onto lids. Add a sweep of blue on top and work into the crease for added drama. Estee Lauder Pure Colour Palette (Blue Dahlia), £32, available at Harrods. Once you’re happy with your shadow, apply a thickening mascara like Laura Mercier’s Full Blown Lash Mascara to leave your lashes looking […]

So we’ve given you the gossip as it happened and we’ve scrutinised the stars’ style to bring you the best and worst dressed – but that’s not all on our sartorial radar. This year’s 68th Golden Globes saw some serious red carpet trends, and as our favourite retailers rush to get their hands on the key pieces and recreations, we’re here to round them up and show you what to look out for in elegant eveningwear this season. Statement scarlett red With Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks and January Jones taking centre stage in statement scarlett gowns by Romona Keveza and Versace respectively, vivid, vibrant red made a va va voom visual on the matching coloured carpet. Emerald green This surprise stand-out trend of the night saw Angelina Jolie, Mila Kunis and Catherine Zeta Jones turn heads in rich emerald green. From Angie’s classic long-sleeved Atelier Versace to Mila’s one-shouldered Vera Wang, this jewel tone shone like no other on Sunday night. Romantic nudes Soft and ethereal, this year’s romantic nudes were a subtle elegance on the red carpet with Scarlett Johansson, Leighton Meester and Dame Helen Mirren all opting for subdued blush tones and second-skin shades. Pretty pinks This year’s Golden Globes played host to a wash of pretty pinks and sweet honeysuckles. From Megan Fox‘s pastel Armani Prive to lady of the night Natalie Portman‘s blush Viktor and Rolf gown, this look was all about celebrating girliness. Serious sparkle Whether on Olivia Wilde‘s frothy Marchesa ballgown or Anne Hathaway‘s figure-skimming Armani Prive piece, statement sparkle was head to toe in these all-or-nothing glittering gowns. It’s that time of year again when the longest red carpet in Hollywood plays host to the 2011 Golden Globe Awards, and in case you missed our live coverage last night, we’re here to round up the front-running designer frocks and the what-were-you-thinking disasters. From statement scarlet red and rich emerald green to romantic peaches and nudes, take a look at our pick of best dressed celebs that wowed at the Beverly Hilton last night… Leading the way in the sartorial stakes was Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks (above) who looked positively stunning in a scarlet silk crepe floor length Romona Keveza gown – who said red heads can’t wear red? Next up, Black Swan actress Natalie Portman survived the pressure in an elegant Viktor and Rolf silk blush dress with a red sequinned floral embellishment and matching red accessories that we got to see in all the more details when she picked up her Best Actress Award. Angelina Jolie swapped her usual black on black look in favour of this long sleeved sequinned emerald green Versace gown – the power shoulders and scooped back complete with soft side-swept hair proved a huge hit for Angie. Following in the Versace suit was Mad Men actress January Jones (no surprise there), who pulled off flashing all that flesh in a cut-away floor-sweeping red fringed gown. Claire Danes led the way for spring style and opted for a neon pink Calvin Klein halterneck dress – it’s a hard cut to pull off, but the minimalist column cut and colour-popping pink saw this actress reach new sartorial heights (and pick up a Best Actress for TV Series Award). Dressed in a jaw-dropping figure hugging Giorgio Armani dress was actress Anne Hathaway, who too went for big shoulders, long sleeves and sequins on her […]

Whilst attending the Tron: Legacy UK film premiere in Leicester Square on Sunday, The O.C star Olivia Wilde looked effortlessly gorgeous in an Armani evening dress. The one-shouldered asymmetrical mini dress flattered her slender frame to perfection, while doing its best, we’re sure, to keep the cold London chill at bay – thank goodness for opaques is all we can say. The printed dress came complete with dazzling red carpet-worthy jewels, and teamed with a chic slicked-back up ‘do and stunning Stella McCartney heels, we couldn’t ask for more. Well done Olivia – America will certainly be proud.

So, in case you hadn’t heard, it RAINED at the Golden Globes and, hold the phone , some A listers even held their own umbrellas. Now, as big as that news was , we were more concerned with the award winners, Ricky Gervais’ presenting job and of course, the dresses. See below for a pick of red carpet hits – alongside the occasional miss… Olivia Wilde – Gucci The House star and former OC actress went for the glamour vamp look for the red carpet, noting that her Gucci gown would be sold off at auction. Proceeds will be going towards the support efforts in Haiti. Julianne Moore – Balenciaga We love Julianne Moore but this Balenciaga gown just doesn’t seem to sit right and has ended up looking a little unflattering. Still, she got to spend the night with Tom Ford as her date so she gets extra fashion credit for that one! January Jones – Lanvin It might be black but there is nothing boring about the Mad Men star’s full length Lanvin ensemble. The actress added a bit of prom night glamour with a matching satin headband and Brian Atwood platforms. Jennifer Morrison – Luis Antonio Major congratulations to Jennifer Morrison who has nabbed a boyfriend that can go out and do her clothes shopping, successfully. The House star proudly told the red carpet that she received this textured number from Puerto Rican designer, Luis Antonio for Christmas. We bet she was one of a few wearing something from their own wardrobe! Kristen Bell – Jasmine di Milo We can’t understand why Kristen Bell told the world she wore a shorter dress to the ceremony because she needed to ‘to be able to move like a tiger’ but we’ll let it pass because this Jasmine di Milo […]
