Ralph Lauren’s Collection At NYFW Is Everything We Aspire Our Wardrobes To Be

Wow, wow, wow….And just like that, our hearts literally skipped a beat when we saw Bella Hadid in this amazing metallic gold pleated dress. Courtesy of Ralph Lauren, this stunning piece (which may we add would be absolutely perfect for party season), made it’s debut at New York Fashion Week. Held at the Ralph Lauren Madison Avenue boutique which was converted into “Ralph’s Coffee Shop”, unlike other designers during fashion week whom are presenting what they think we should be wearing this autumn/winter, Ralph Lauren gave us a beautiful collection for Spring/Summer’19. Dominated by gold and black, with sprinkles of white and florals (because it wouldn’t be a spring presentation without florals), the collection was the epitome of elegance and sophistication. Best of all, it’s available to shop right now, but sadly we can’t seem to find the dress in question *sigh*. We shall keep you posted! [Images]

Ralph Lauren Blue Label goes neutral for summer

Nude is back, people! Ok it never really went away to begin with, but we’d like to confirm that it’s bigger and better than ever before! And before readers of a prudish disposition stop in their tracks and recoil in horror, we’d like to point out that we are in fact talking about the colour – or lack thereof – as opposed to the state of undress. Reading resumes here… We don’t just have Kate Middleton and her love of a nude pump to thank for the emerging neutral trend – although she has played quite a substantial part in bringing it back on people’s radars. Ralph Lauren is just one of many designers who is bringing natural shades back on our style agenda; and this time he’s making sure that everyone’s paying attention. Sure we love a bright, bold summer hue for getting attention on the beach or at the cocktail bar, or a cute pastel colour combo for those light springtime evenings, but neutral is really standing out the most for us at the moment. And you only have to take a look at the latest Ralph Lauren collection to see what we mean. Going for nude is by no means a cop out; the textures, prints and patterns in the Ralph Lauren Blue Label collection alone are proof that nude is the furthest thing from dull and boring imaginable. The latest collection was actually inspired by Out of Africa – a film bursting with style if we may say – which is more than evident thanks to the basket weave cardigans and skinny jodhpurs complete with their very own suede knee patches. Our favourite piece from the collection, however, is the Nappa Gemima bootie in “truffle” as it’s a versatile shoe that would be just as welcome […]

David Beckham is devilishly handsome in Ralph Lauren

We thought we’d mix it up a bit this Tuesday morning and feature a man in our celebrity style section. Not just any old man of course – the one and only Mr David Beckham! Victoria Beckham’s delicious-looking husband was at Wimbledon over the weekend (thankfully he wasn’t on screen for long otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to concentrate on the score!) and watched the very exciting Mikhail Kukushkin vs Rafael Nadal match on centre court from the privacy of the Royal Box. David looked extremely smart and handsome in his Polo Ralph Lauren Sport blazer, which he teamed with a Ralph Lauren Black Label white shirt, black trousers, and a matching tie that complemented the hues of the whole outfit perfectly. We’re not sure whether his Spice Girl turned fashion designer wife helped him put his outfit together or whether he managed it all on his own, but whoever it was deserves a huge pat on the back. Then again, we haven’t seen many outfits that David Beckham hasn’t looked good in, so we guess we are a bit biased. What do you think of Becks’ look?

Why is Ralph Lauren “furious” with Kate Middleton?

Gosh, it’s all kicking off this week, isn’t it? First there was the infamous elevator gate, and now we just might have Windsor Castle gate, as it’s being reported that Ralph Lauren was “furious” that Kate Middleton didn’t attend his high profile charity bash at Windsor Castle the other night. “Ralph Lauren was furious when he found out less than six weeks ago that Kate would not be there,” a ‘source’ allegedly said. “He considered pulling out but was told by his PR advisers that it would look terrible. “The company thought they were getting Kate, the most famous clothes horse in the world, and also a runway show at the castle.” Yikes! We hope the designer doesn’t hold it against for too long as it would be a shame to never see the Duchess of Cambridge wearing Ralph Lauren (pictured above) again. Ralph can’t have been too upset though, as a host of other A-listers from Cate Blanchett to Kate Moss and many more in-between rocked up to show their support for the Royal  Marsden charity. Cate Blanchett is a vision in white for Ralph Lauren Royal Marsden dinner

We told you yesterday about Ralph Lauren’s newest philanthropic collaboration with the Royal Marsden, so you may remember that we mentioned that Prince William would  be hosting a dinner at Windsor Castle to raise money for the wonderful charity. As promised, the dinner was attended by a host of A-listers from Emma Watson to Kate Moss and many more, but it was Cate Blanchett who grabbed our attention. Cate Blanchett seldom fails to impress on a red carpet, and this was no exception, as she looked like a pure vision of loveliness in a white Ralph Lauren autumn/winter 2014 dress that inevitably made people’s heads turn and jaws drop simultaneously as she walked past. Never has an outfit for a charity dinner been more appropriate, if you ask us! Cate’s pulled back hair, bold red lipstick and statement chandelier earrings complemented her Ralph Lauren dress perfectly. We know it’s only Wednesday, but this is definitely a best dressed of the week contender.

Ralph Lauren teams up with Royal Marsden charity

Ralph Lauren is taking on a new philanthropic project, as it’s just been announced that he will be teaming up with the Royal Marsden charity. The American fashion designer will attend a charity dinner hosted by Prince William – the President of the charity – at  Windsor Castle tonight. And although Ralph Lauren has met and dressed countless famous faces over his very impressive career, he’s reportedly extremely chuffed to finally meet our future King… “It’s a very important night. Mr. Lauren has not met the Duke before and he is over the moon about it, and very excited,” an official spokesperson for Ralph Lauren said. “He has spent a long time looking for the right cancer-related philanthropic mission. This is an opportunity to develop that work.” Ralph Lauren himself had his own personal battle with the disease over 25 years ago, so we know that the charity and all the fantastic things it does is very close to his heart. A host of A-listers such as Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Emma Watson, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne and Mario Testino are also rumoured to be attending tonight’s event, so you know it’s bound to be a good one! Ralph Lauren launches RL Vintage

It was a sad day when we learnt that the Ralph Lauren Rugby line would be shut down. However, it’s true what they say about one door opening when one closes, as the brand has introduced a (we would say brand new but it’s technically the opposite) vintage line entitled RL Vintage. Each season, Ralph Lauren will choose rare and unique pieces from the archives to bring back, with each season having a different theme. This time round it’s all things Western, which means everything from fringed jackets to saddle bags to all else inbetween. “I am happy to welcome you to RL Vintage, a very personal experience for collectors who share my love of craftsmanship, patina, heritage and personal style,” Ralph Lauren said. “Since my childhood, I have been drawn to old things. I love their stories, each artist’s hand and their enduring style. These are the things that have inspired everything I do.” We love the interactivity of the site too, as Ralph Lauren fans can have a say in what items go on sale in the “bring it back” section which we think is pretty darn cool. The current debate is about which Polo Bear sweater should be brought back: head to rlvintage.com to have your say! [Vogue]

Meet Robyn Lawley, Ralph Lauren’s first ever plus size model!

While we wait patiently for Burberry to confirm whether or not it’s teaming up with Adele for a plus size collection, Ralph Lauren has revealed that 23-year-old Australian model Robyn Lawley has become the first ever plus sized face of the brand. And if the pic above is anything to go by, we think she’s totally owned it! You may recognise Robyn and her gorgeous curves from the Boux Avenue lingerie ad campaign, as well as the covers of Vogue Italia and French Elle among others, although we think Ralph Lauren is her biggest and best gig yet! Good Morning America stated that Robyn is a US size 12 – a UK size 16 – which according to statistics is actually smaller than the average American woman. Still, we think this is a step in the right direction for showcasing all body types in fashion, and we hope more brands take a leaf out of Ralph Lauren’s book. [NY Daily News]

Polo Ralph Lauren loses battle

Polo Ralph Lauren has lost a legal battle in which it tried to stop both the US polo association and a rival clothing company from using a logo which resembled Ralph Laurens own trademark polo horseman. David Cummings, president of USPA Properties, said: “Since 1984, the US Polo Association has been trying to co-exist with Polo Ralph Lauren, but it appears they wanted nothing more than a monopoly on the sport. That has ended today with this ruling.”

Angelina Jolie is Best Dressed of the Week in custom-made Ralph & Russo

It’s always hard to shine when you’re not the reason the red carpet(black in this case) was laid out, but wherever Ms. Jolie goes, she commands the red carpet. Accompanying fiancé Brad Pitt to the Berlin premiere of his latest film World War Z, Angelina looked a vision in white, wearing a custom-made Ralph & Russo strapless peplum dress with rose gold belt-like detailing at the waist. Although we’ve waxed lyrical about her black Saint Laurent Paris look at the London premiere for the film, this look elevates the Little White Dress to new heights. The leggy beauty teamed the stunning dress with matching pumps and her signature glossy locks. A look like Angelina’s needs no accessorising, so we’re glad she skipped the bag in favour of a small, elegant earrings and a cuff-style bracelet. What do you think; she certainly outdid her star of the film husband-to-be, right? [Image: Zimbio]

Kate Middleton And Meghan Markle Attend Wimbledon Women’s Final Together

Marking their first public engagement together without their husbands, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle took to Wimbledon to watch Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber battle it out in the ladies final and we can only assume Meghan was rooting for Serena considering they’re best buds (the tennis star was a guest at the Royal Wedding). Pictured laughing and chatting away, the sisters-in-law stuck to their signature style for the occasion. Meghan opted for a Ralph Lauren striped shirt and white wide-leg trousers while Kate wore a Jenny Packham knee-length summer dress with nude heels. Both ladies looked lovely as usual and hopefully we’ll get to see the Duchesses enjoying quality time together in the near future.

It’s the event every fashionista has been waiting for. The annual Met Gala took place last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the majority of celebs in attendance didn’t disappoint. Best Dressed At The SAG Awards 2018

In contrast to the Golden Globes, the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was a colourful affair. Held yesterday at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Hollywood’s leading actresses hit the red carpet in a riot of shades from electric blue to canary yellow, emerald green and shimmering metallic’s. Admittedly, some of the outfits left us feeling a tad confused and disappointed (we shall refrain from naming and shaming). However, for us here at MFL, starlets including Halle Berry, Alison Williams and Susan Kelechi Watson knocked it right out of the park. Here’s a round-up of our faves. Who were you loving on the red carpet this year? 4 Sports Luxe Pieces To Add To Your SS17 Wardrobe

The rise of the ‘sports luxe’ or the ‘athleisure’ trend has come as no surprise and it has quickly become established into millions of different peoples wardrobes. It has seen joggers, hoodies, trainers and blazers redesigned solely for the purpose of being luxurious and comfortable at the same time. The casualwear style is no longer associated with gym wear, as it is now bringing you a casual feel with a luxury look. With all of this happening, it can be difficult to add into your wardrobe, especially as it will require a little experimenting, so we thought we’d help you. Muscle Fit Is Now Here Muscle fit t-shirts are now the perfect addition, especially for those who love the athleisure trend. It allows you to almost show off your body and brings together a smoother and cleaner fit. It complements your tireless routine at the gym and is available in a host of different styles and brands. The muscle fit will effortlessly blend into all your outfit choices and will help you look a little smarter. The Zip Up Hoodies No matter where you are, zip up hoodies are often classed as casual wear. This is even after Ralph Lauren and Jack Wills have added a smarter approach to hoodies. The fabrics are a little more intricate and technical, meaning they are better tailored and fitted, rather than the baggy. It can often be a chuck on, however, zip up hoodies can be worn with both smart and casual styles. Step Forward Tank Tops Just as much as joggers are commonly associated with the youths of today, tank tops are stereotyped to body builders. The view has quickly been shifted away from this, especially as women and men are incorporating both baggier and fitted styles into their outfits. Tank tops […]

Jennifer Lawrence to co-host 2015 Met Gala alongside Anna Wintour

Jennifer Lawrence is keen to put the last few weeks behind her, and we think that agreeing to co-host the 2015 Met Gala is going to be a great step in the right direction. J-Law will be joining Chinese actress Gong Li, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, businesswoman Wendi Deng Murdoch, and Anna Wintour in hosting the event, which this year will be celebrating the opening of the exhibit entitled Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film, and Fashion. As the title suggests, the exhibit will feature over 100 pieces inspired by China, with the likes of Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, Roberto Cavalli, Peter Dundas for Emilio Pucci, Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano for Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Westwood and Jason Wu among the many designers taking part. Next year’s Met Gala will take place on May 4th, with the exhibit being held at both the Anna Wintour Costume Center and the Department of Asian Art at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Who’s excited? [Telegraph]

Kate Middleton wears red Jonathan Saunders coat in Scotland

Kate Middleton may have been MIA since touching down in Britain after her and Prince William’s tour of Australia and New Zealand (much to the disappointment of Ralph Lauren) but we’re pleased to announce that she has remerged – looking just as, if not more, beautiful than ever.. It’s definitely been worth the wait, as the Duchess of Cambridge has given us a killer look to lust after while visiting Scotland with her hubby. Kate and Wills – or should we say the Earl and Countess of Strathearn, to use their Scottish titles – paid a visit to the Strathearn Community Campus in Crieff yesterday morning, and Kate looked flawless wearing a gorgeous red coat by Scottish designer Jonathan Saunders. How very apt! The Duchess/Countess accessorised with her trusty nude L.K. Bennett heels and matching beige clutch, and Goat’s red Thea dress underneath. Believe it or not, the dress is still available to buy so click here to get your hands on it before the copy-Kates beat you to it.

The richest fashion families – from the Armanis to the Versaces – revealed!

The Sunday Times Rich List was announced at the weekend, but now it’s time to take a look at a list a little more fashion focused. More specifically, the 14 most powerful fashion families – thank you Harper’s Bazaar! So, who do you think made the list? It comes as no surprise to learn that the Armanis have got it pretty good; as of 2013, Giorgio Armani’s fortune was estimated at over $8.5 billion, and with his sister Rosanna and two nieces Silvana and Roberta also working with/for him, that’s a very rich family indeed! No fashion rich list is complete without Ralph Lauren and his family; his £14 billion empire can’t be ignored! Ralph’s wife and children do their bit for the family name and business by representing the Ralph Lauren brand across the world, which we think makes them entitled to dip into the RL family savings. Donatella Versace is obviously high on the list, running the House of Versace for her brother Gianni Versace, while relative newcomer Alexander Wang and his family have already cemented their place on the list. And with his fashion involvements increasing as the days go on, he won’t be disappearing from the list any time soon. We’re glad and not at all surprised to see Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen on the list either. They may have come into the spotlight when they were under a year old, but the work they have done for their fashion empire is no coincidence or stroke of luck. They’ve worked hard to go from child actors to respected fashion designers, and that’s definitely reflected in the success of their The Row and Elizabeth and James clothing lines – not to mention their eye-watering fortune! The one name we’re shocked to see omitted from the list? The […]

The Met Gala 2014: The best dressed!

All the big names in fashion, film, and music gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night, for the highly anticipated Met Gala! This year, the museum was honouring Charles James, and the dress-code was a very simple (albeit slightly “boring” according to Marc Jacobs) “white tie and decorations”. Anyone familiar with the work of Charles James would know that elegant eveningwear was his thing, so they wouldn’t have gone wrong by donning the finest couture pieces with some elegant jewels. There were many ladies who absolutely nailed their looks, while some probably should have stayed home. Stella McCartney had a big moment on the red carpet, dressing the likes of Rihanna and Reese Witherspoon so flawlesslessly for the event, in two very different but equally stunning dresses. Rihanna went for her signature sexy look, while Reese was a vintage glamour goddess. Selena Gomez also wowed on the red carpet for us, looking very mature for just 21 years old in a bold deep purple Diane von Furstenberg dress. We also love how Gossip Girl stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were reunited at the Met Gala – they both looked amazing in  their respective Gucci Premiere and Emilio Pucci dresses. Not all of the ladies went for full-length or ballgown dresses (like Hayden Panettiere who looked like a Princess!) though – Solange Knowles and Lena Dunham were just two of the stars who went for something a little bit shorter. The impact definitely wasn’t lost though. Here are our best dressed celebs from last night’s Met Gala. Let us know who gets your vote in the comments below. Victoria Beckham in Victoria Beckham Rihanna in Stella McCartney Blake Lively in Gucci Premiere Reese Witherspoon in Stella McCartney Selena Gomez in Diane von Furstenberg Emma […]

Rita Ora wows in white Roberto Cavalli at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum

It doesn’t look like we can go very many days without swooning over Rita Ora’s sartorial choices at the moment – and her latest look is an absolute killer! The singer and style maven attended The Glamour of Italian Fashion Exhibition Preview at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, wearing one of the finest Italian designers of them all: Roberto Cavalli. Rita wowed the crowd in a floor-length white dress from Roberto Cavalli’s autumn/winter 2014 collection, proving that white really is the go-to colour of the moment. First Emma Watson in Ralph Lauren, then Olivia Cooke in Mulberry, and now Rita is taking on the trend, too! We think Rita wanted to one-up Emma and Olivia by embracing the white trend, as she accessorised her dress with a white bag and white hair, which we think might have been inspired by Nicole Richie’s ‘do at last year’s Met Gala. Her token red lip completed the look perfectly and added just the right amount of colour! Do you love Rita’s look?

Olivia Cooke nails the LWD trend in Mulberry

Say goodbye to the LBD, because the little white dress is having a serious moment! White dresses – long, short, little, large and all else in-between – are hotter than ever right now, and the female stars of Hollywood definitely got the memo. Emma Watson, she who can do no wrong on the red carpet these days, wowed in a white Ralph Lauren dress at the Noah premiere earlier this week, and now Olivia Cooke is following in her footsteps too. The beautiful British actress kept things British last night, as she attended The Quiet Ones red carpet in London wearing a chic white dress from the Mulberry spring/summer 2014 collection. Olivia’s look was age appropriate, fun, extremely flattering, and her up-do and hot pink shoes were the perfect accompaniment to complement the dress. We wouldn’t change a thing!
