The House of Chloe will be mourning the departure of British designer Phoebe Philo who took a brave step and quit her job to concentrate on being a mother. Philo, 32 originally joined the label in 1997 as design assistant to Stella McCartney and took over from McCartney as creative director in 2001.
Wanting to spend more time with her daughter whom she gave birth to in March 05, Philo handed in her resignation saying,
“I am grateful to the House of Chloe for giving me the opportunity to develop as a designer and to serve as its creative director for the past four years.
“Chloe is a beautiful house with a great history, and I am proud to have worked alongside the wonderfully talented people there. My decision to resign is for personal reasons, including especially to spend more time with my new baby in the coming months.”
It is unknown at present who will take over but Vogue speculates that Roland Mouret, Derek Lam or Giles Deacon may have a chance…we shall keep you updated.
