As we are fast approaching LA fashion week, many are jumping on the party bandwagon with their own pre-fashion week events. I am currently in LA and have been lucky enough to attend some of these glamorous shindigs. Tadashi Shoji is not only a fantastic designer, but also a great individual who was kind enough to open his home, in the Pasadena Hills California, for an evening of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. However the evening wasn’t about celebrating Tadashi as a designer, it was actually an opportunity for the contestants of the Miss USA pageant to meet and greet. So, whilst Tadashi’s collection was displayed subtly in the background, I scoped out what the contestants were wearing, and I have to say I wasn’t overly impressed!
Many of the girls were in need of a stylist whose abilities expanded further than that of the annual high school dance, if you catch my drift! Ok, maybe I’m just jealous because I was the only one without a crown, and yes I have to admit some of the girls did get it right. My favorite of the night was Miss Wyoming who looked very much the beauty queen, but sadly didn’t know who she was wearing. Overall the evening was every bit as elegant and classy as Tadashi’s range of gowns.
