Fashion Week is great if you’re located in a major city (or have the means to travel to one). If you’re located far away in the suburbs, however (as I was growing up), it’s beyond tantalizing to see those images of gorgeous clothes and not be able to see how it moves when the model walks down the runway, or see the entire outfit from head to toe (detail shots do not an entire picture make).

All of this is about to change as American Express brings “fashion to the masses with the launch of the American Express Fashion Network. Broadcast live from Fashion Week, the network will enable anyone with internet acces to stream the shows through their computer.

In celebration of their launch, they set up a special exhibition for card-members (i.e people who might not always be able to get into a show). The featured designer was none other than Peter Som; we were treated to a showing of his Spring 2008 collection that will hit the shops within the next week or two, AND we got to see highlights of his Fall 2008 line that showed just this past Monday.

As expected, his clothes were designed for real women who have to worry about things like office-appropriate hemlines yet still want to look gorgeous. You’ve still got a few days left to stream some shows, so check out www.americanexpress.com/style—it’s the next best thing to being right there by the runway.
