I don’t know about you, but a whole season later and I am still in love with brogues. Flat patent brogues, shoe-boot brogues, brogues with heels, and the list continues. So, you can imagine my excitement when I found out that not only were brogues still de rigueur for the summer, but they had also been tweaked to allow for that all-important Spring/Summer vibe.
The weird and wonderful peep-toe brogue. Number one on my list of must haves for the upcoming sunny season (along with gladiator sandals of course).
Sadly, I have been hard pressed to find a good quality, reasonably priced summer-style brogue at my favourite high street store, New Look (where I literally kitted myself out for the winter brogue season), so, I have had to resort to setting my sights a little higher.
Kurt Geiger and All Saints, two stores with a fabulous summer shoe collection that looks like it’s straight off the catwalk, and they both have quite an array of summer brogues.
All Saints have two versions, one sky-high stiletto pair that’s available in either tan with a bight orange heel (a nod to the acid brights of this season), or grey with a silver metallic heel. They also have a stunning suede version in black or grey, perfect for this in-between weather.
Kurt Geiger’s version is equally fabulous, offering up an edgy black pair with tan wooden heels and white laces or the daring orange and purple patent leather pairs.
The choice was so agonising that I decided to buy a pair from both brands. The suede All Saints version to wear with my winter garb, and the patent Kurt Geiger pair in eye-popping colours for when it gets a little warmer.
Unfortunately my brogue obsession won’t stop here. I heard last night that New Look will be bringing out a black and fluorescent pink pair of peep-toe brogues for under £30. Bring it on, I say!
