There’s a fine line between reporting and endorsing. So I would like to take the time early on in this piece to clear the air and firmly state I am merely reporting as I see it.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I bring you the Fuxedo!

Now you’re probably wondering, what on earth is a Fuxedo? The name is suggestive, but sexual innuendos aside, the Fuxedo is the bridge between fashion etiquette’s simplicity and sophistication or, to put it plainly, the pairing of the rather élan tuxedo with the somewhat expedient jumpsuit.

The promotional ad is a definite laugh so I wasn’t surprised to learn that the creators of this one-piece tuxedo are the music-comedic duo of Stuckey & Murray.

But as ludicrous as the idea may seem, the Fuxedo has no real sartorial niggles except for its obvious unconventionality. For instance, the conundrum of the jumpsuit zipper is well hidden to ensure that the medley of jumpsuit and tuxedo is not noticeable. An added plug is the Fuxedo design kept traditional tuxedo basics like the cummerbund, the satin lapels, and the black bow tie.

However, the Fuxedo’s built-in cuff is the utmost sartorial pleaser because it assures the right amount of shirt cuff peeks under the jacket (it’s best to show at least half an inch). All things considered, it would be a difficult task to discern the Fuxedo from a bonafide tuxedo.

So is the Fuxedo a revolution in men’s fashion? No way! But if you want to inject some tongue in cheek into your wardrobe, then be my guest and invest in a Fuxedo. No doubt the Fuxedo is a nifty idea, but I don’t really see myself buying into. Nonetheless, considering the etymology of the name, Fuxedo, I couldn’t help but snicker at the utility the Fuxedo would have served James McEvoy during that passionate library tryst he shared with Keira Knightly in Atonement. A little too late McEvoy, a little too late…
