Natascha Stolle Spring Summer 2009

Natascha Stolle Spring Summer 2009

Fashion East is a project that supports promoting new (or newish) designers. It originally started in The Old Truman Brewery in 1997; the brewery hosted a few shows and later became committed to helping recent graduates step up the design ladder. But the crowd gathered outside Quaglino’s (where this years winners were showcasing) suggests that these designers have already become something of a favourite in the fashion world.

David David, Natascha Stolle and Louise Gray (young Scottish designer of the year) had three consecutive displays of really fun, colourful and eighties reminiscent fashion. David David was the loudest in the colour department , lots of pattern in pastel on white bases, white round sunglasses (that keep popping up everywhere) stripes on cardigans and small patterned caps. Knee length shorts were also seen, but this time on the men.

Natascha Stolle, quite literally stole the show: Her designs were utterly brilliant, white three quarter length 80’s jackets under mini skirts, everything high waisted and tight and all the models sported side brushed hair in a more refined nod to the side ponytail (that I hope we never see again). Stolle came up trumps with a calf length dress in vertical stripes, covered part-way in a sheer black layer on top: Spectacular eighties pop.
