How nice has it been to be able to just shamelessly indulge in red carpet fashion from the Golden Globes? Maybe it’s because we didn’t get the opportunity last year but I’ve loved every minute of it. Expect a more subdued ceremony this year we were told. Well, if “subdued equals classy, sophisticated and demure then I hope the Oscars are seriously sombre. O.K, now let’s talk trends. Strapless gowns were popular this year along with the usual one shouldered options which tend to be a red carpet favourite. The odd bright jewel tones courtesy of Cameron Diaz and Eva Longoria was much needed amongst a sea of nude and neutral shades and classic dark hues while Hollywood glamour at its finest came in the form of fishtail hemlines and bold statement necklaces!
Eva Longoria was a picture of perfection in Reem Acra
Perhaps not Blake Lively’s best fashion moment but she just managed to pull off this strapless embellished beauty by Nina Ricci.
Rumer Willis also sported a Reem Acra number, this time in a beautiful shade of purple.
And another. Olivia Wilde chose a ruffled gown from…you guessed it….Reem Acra.
Hayden Pattieniere was stunning in a very deep purple sparkly gown by Gianfranco Ferre.
Eva Mendes opted for a white Dior gown with lashings of fabric. She gets extra brownie points for the colour as it really suits her. Is it just me or would you have expected Cameron Diaz in this?
I don’t even know where to start with Beyonce. You can take the girl out of the bling but you truly can’t take the bling out of the girl. Mrs Jay-Z turned to her favourite designer Elie Saab for this ill-fitting sequinned number complete with a thigh high split.
