Winners of the Louis Vuitton and Parsons design competition
Louis Vuitton were the recent sponsors of a collaboration with prestigious US design school Parsons, and the winners of the competition have finally been revealed.

The French fashion house and the famed design college set a competition, aptly named ‘Reconstruction’, for Parsons’ students to create conceptual costumes based on past silhouettes.

Working in the Parsons gallery, ten teams of students broke down historical pieces from the Louis Vuitton archive as well as signature designs by artistic director Marc Jacobs, who is a Parsons graduate himself.

Judges for the competition, held last week, including Nick Sulivan of Esquire magazine, chose Min Sun Kim and Lydia Kim as the winners, for a design that remixed menswear and a classic trench coat with hand painted hem, the NY Times revealed.

Well done, girls; we’ll be expecting big things if we’re to judge by the list of previous Parsons graduates.

Want a brief run-down? Here goes: Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Donna Karan, Isaac Mizrahi, Narciso Rodriguez, Anna Sui, Doo-Ri Chung, Derek Lam, Thakoon Panichgul and Lazaro Hernandez. Oh, Alexander Wang and Jason Wu also attended the school. Phew.
