When Sam Cam greeted the Obama’s on their official UK visit in a pretty printed dress from Peter Pilotto’s spring 2011 ready-to-wear collection, we watched and applauded – only back in November actress of the moment Carey Mulligan donned the very same dress.

Sam Cam – a name now synonymous with celebrating British designers and a rather good sense of sophisticate style – greeted the Obama’s at Downing Street last month in the dreamy chiffon Peter Pilotto dress.

She kept the look conservative (pun intended) by pairing with grey platform heels, a simple blow-dry and minimal makeup. We love how she effortlessly takes Peter Pilotto’s fascination with bold prints and translates it into a pared-down, daytime alternative.

But Carey Mulligan beat Sam Cam to it by appearing in the same print-drenched dress at the Los Angeles Times ‘Young Hollywood’ Roundtable event in November last year.

Carey opted for a radiant look with blue peep-toe heels, flushed cheeks and hair teased into a loose bun. We love Carey’s up ‘do, which works so well to emphasise the high neck of the dress, and her cutesy style is girlie but grown-up.

But whose printed look are you in awe of? Did Sam Cam pull of the style campaign, or has Carey defeated her in the fashion polls? Cast your votes below!
