Just in case you were planning a short break away to the ever-chic city of Paris, inimitable fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has decided to offer his tips on where to go, and how to get the most out of this amazing Parisian hot-spot.
“My favourite shop is Colette on Rue Saint-Honoré,” he says. “For jewellery I go to Lydia Courteille on the Rue Saint-Honoré and for books Galignani on Rue De Rivoli, and my own bookshop, 7L on Rue De Lille. For clothes I shop at Dior Homme and I buy my paper at Sennelier. It’s next door to where I live – it is the most famous place for paper, pencils and stationery.”
But having lived most of his youth no doubt partying the night away, Karl prefers the quiter things in life now – and doesn’t really go out in public much.
“I tend not to go to public places, I go to people’s houses,” said Karl. “I am not a cocktail party person and I have no need, no want, as I have already done a lot of this in my life.”
Instead of gorging on fancy champers and sipping exquisite cocktails, Mr Lagerfeld is partial to a spot of caviar.
“I love to go La Maison Du Caviar because they have the best caviar in the world – there is nothing like it and I have been going since I was 16 or 17,” he said to Vogue UK. “I also like the atmosphere and food in Café De Floré.”
We’ll bear your advice in mind, Karl.
