The MTV EMAs held in Belfast, Northern Ireland, last night were explosive to say the least, especially as far as the fashion was concerned.

Selena Gomez had the honour of hosting the event this year, which not only comes with huge responsibility, but a very expansive wardrobe.

The host famously goes through an abundance of costume changes (we still can’t forget Katy Perry’s efforts a few years ago!) and Selena was no different.

There were a few outfits that we were lusting after more than others, including a red jumpsuit, but the one that stood out the most for us was the daring backless Marchesa dress she donned for the pre-show red carpet.

No one can deny that Selena looked great amidst all those Justin Bieber baby daddy rumours, which just goes to show she is a true pro and a very worthy hostess.

We always look forward to seeing Jessie J at awards ceremonies and she didn’t let us down, either. As much as we adore her signature poker straight bob, we loved that she wore her hair curly and wild as she arrived on the pink carpet, which complemented her strapless leopard print dress beautifully.

While there was no raw meat involved, Lady Gaga still stood out for her us, in terms of stage outfit, performance and antics. She walked away with a total of four awards, which included best song and best video for Born This Way. She even kneeled before models Bar Refaeli and Irina Shayk (who both looked divine, may we say) as she accepted one of her awards.

Katy Perry went for head to toe pink (a girl after our own hearts) and rocked the ‘rockabilly meets Pink Lady’ look as effortlessly as she does most looks, as did Bruno Mars, who matched the carpet with his dapper rose-coloured suit.
