This week’s SPOTLIGHT focuses on University of East London graduate and esteemed London-based womenswear designer, Christopher Waller.
Waller’s final collection at university was nominated for the Graduate Fashion Week Gold Award, followed by a two year spell in design at John Richmond.
Waller, full name Simon Christopher Waller, chose to embark on a sole fashion venture, launching his eponymous label Christopher Waller in July 2010. “A Shot Across The Bows”, Waller’s spring summer 2012 collection boasts his renowned design trichotomy; offering clean lines in block colours and luxe fabrics.
Inspiration for spring summer 2012 was derived from the Mediterranean and the glamour of the Côte d’Azur in the late 80’s and early 90’s, bringing an air of minimalist glamour to Waller’s designs. Citing Charlotte Casiraghi, the granddaughter of The Princess of Monaco Grace Kelly, as muse, Waller’s collection concludes crisp white jersey’s and fluid silk crepe in a refreshed and Riviera appropriate shades of fleshy dusk pink, French navy and sapphire blue.
