The looks on the line for this week’s Rate or Slate are major red carpet contenders, but with a contemporary, quirky twist.
Emma Watson has got the sweet-girl-with-an-edge look down to a T, and this head-to-toe floaty Miu Miu ensemble she wore to the Struck By Lightning premiere in New York was brilliantly toughened up with a structured leather jacket. We love how she rocked an otherwise casual day look for the red carpet.
Taylor Schilling chose one of our fave designers, Peter Pilotto, for the London premiere of The Lucky One. But it’s a look that has split opinion and we’re undecided on whether we should give it thumbs up….
Michelle Williams went with a Giambattista Valli number for the New York premiere of Take This Waltz. We love Michelle’s style-detour approach to red carpet dressing, and this spring-fresh look is no exception.
Over to our Style Jury…
Fashion News Ed says:
Emma Watson: ‘I was a bit jealous that Emma was dressed head-to-toe in Miu Miu but I got over it because she looks amazing. I love how she gave her look some edge by adding the leather jacket… no sign of Hermione here!’
Taylor Schilling: ‘Taylor generally looked OK… I really like the dress but wish she styled it a bit differently, maybe an up-do and a coat of bold lippie, perhaps?’
Michelle Williams: ‘Michelle has been giving us some bold looks lately, but it’s nice to see her revert to her paler fashion choices too. She looks flawless, as always.’

Verdict: RATE to the power of three!
This is a first, all-over style victory for our Rate or Slate! Although, we agree with our lovely Fashion News Ed on Taylor’s styling, all three looks rocked the red carpet, majorly!
