From a little acorn, a mighty oak does grow. Luke Roper, at the tender age of 15, started knocking together garments for his friends/family; from this he developed a strong brand identity that appeals to the modern lad, gentleman as well as the working class hero. The unique take of Luke 1977 on British men’s fashion has gained famous fans along the way, while winning the Drapers Best Selling Menswear award for 2012.
A long-time fan of the brand has been Liverpudlian actor Stephen Graham who has been photographed a couple of times in one of their stores picking up a few bits. They’ve now built up a relationship to the point where they got him to be the face of Luke 1977 for the Autumn/Winter 2012 season. It’s a collaboration made in heaven what with his love for football, his ‘lad’ persona, taste in clothing and connections to the likes of Liam Gallagher and The Arctic Monkeys – this all falls perfectly in line with Luke’s brand ethos.
So what can you expect from the AW12 collection?
The usual innovative pockets, colour blocking and button detailing are all there, as you’d expect but with a fresh twist for the new season. All products are made from quality fabrics and are true to size. Luke 1977 clothing is firmly recognised for its edgy, detailed and ultimately practical interpretation on contemporary menswear.
