When it comes to clothes shopping, men often have it harder than women. For starters, there is less choice out there (have you ever compared the size of the men’s department with women’s?!) and it can be difficult to find clothing that is both smart enough for work yet casual enough that it can be worn for dinner or drinks after work.
We’ve put together a list of the five best shirts that are suitable for work and pleasure and look great!

Fred Perry Tartan Pinpoint shirt
Fred Perry clothing has long been regarded as a name you can trust, designing fashionable wear that is both comfortable and durable. I love this brand and this particular shirt is readily available at http://www.jdsports.co.uk/. The cotton weeve, long sleeves and button up collar help keep this shirt on the smart side whilst the tartan check makes it fun for work and play.

Superdry Lumberjack Twill shirt
Superdry is another big name that, in recent years, has become synonymous with comfort and style. These Lumberjack styled shirts are very in right now, are an affordable price and come in a range of colours and checks enabling you to pick the look that’s right for you! Beware if your office is strict on dress code as the bolder check design could be perceived as more on the casual side.

French Connection Fairhurst Stripe shirt
This popular long-sleeved shirt is especially smart and stylish and will definitely help you stand out from the crowd. Again very reasonably priced, it comes with a cutaway collar and adjustable button-fastening cuffs and is a great fit with a look that speaks for itself!

French Connection Macleod Check shirt
Another product from clothing designers French Connection, this particular shirt comes in a classic style that is never out of fashion and an individual and unique look that puts it in a class of its own. This is actually one of my favourites in the French Connection collection and comes in a choice of either black or a brown that they call Demitasse.

Firetrap Pioneer shirt
Finally, this offering from Firetrap is my last recommendation. Firetrap pride themselves on being a maverick brand with a subversive feel to their clothing range yet by comparison, this shirt is almost conventional by their standards. A slim fit, the shirt has partly concealed buttons and is not just stylish but also very smart-casual at an agreeable price!
