The House of Salvatore Ferragamo has just launched a brand new foundation which aims to find and educate rising designing talent.
Fondazione Ferragamo, to use its proper name, will be based in Florence (the birthplace of the Italian label) and will give new talent the support they need while teaching them from a curriculum based on the late designer’s values.
“Young people are the engine of any society, the force that ensures continuity and the future,” said Wanda Ferragamo, the widow of the legendary designer. “They must have the chance to demonstrate their worth and their abilities.
“Adults, institutions and businesses are responsible for giving them these opportunities. Providing them with know-how, creativity, technology and, above all, the desire to move forward, to overcome all obstacles – values exemplified by my husband’s life and his life’s work.”
What a great idea – we’d love to see more designers do this!
