We’re usually convinced by first sight of an LBD, no matter what form it takes. But, this week, we’re not so pleased. Lizzy Caplan slipped into a Spring 2014 Reem Acra dress at the Saban Community Clinic 37th Annual Benefit Gala earlier this week, and we’re just not diggin’ the red carpet effort.
The Masters of Sex star wore a black, knee-length dress embellished with sequins and cape-like sleeves. Lizzy accessorised with a mini box clutch and cross-strap Aldo sandals, and finished off with a slick of eyeliner and soft pink lips. Side-swept bangs and a glossy, elongated bob added the final touch.
We love the make-up, the hair and the accessories, but the cape-like sleeves aren’t so flattering. The dress’s high neckline warrants a wispy updo, unlike her sleek locks, which seem to clutter the overall look.
An LBD, if styled the right way, can be the single most flattering item of clothing in any wardrobe. But on this occasion, Lizzy’s look just didn’t recreate that classic magic. Our rule to owning your LBD appearance: keep it fuss-free.
