Are you wondering where to go for a girls’ holiday this year? Well, if it’s a beach holiday you’re after, you have plenty of destinations to choose from. Whether it’s a picture-perfect bay in the Mediterranean or sandy shore in sunny Spain, there’s certainly somewhere you can all agree on visiting…

Lanzarote

For a holiday infused with history, art and culture (as well as a beautiful beaches and delicious cocktails), why not consider Lanzarote? The weather is fantastic owing to the fact the island is located off the west coast of Africa, so expect brilliant blue skies, wall to wall sunshine and breath-taking beaches, as well as lots of restaurants and bars for memorable nights out.

Lanzarote is the perfect break for a girls’ holiday if your group is interested in the great outdoors, as the island has some incredible natural wonders to see. For instance, head to the centre of the island to explore the volcanic landscape with steam billowing out of boreholes, or go for a horse riding day at Rancho Texas. You can book a camel ride across the the Martian-like landscape in Timanfaya National Park stopping off to cook your lunch together over red-hot fissures.

Don’t leave without checking out Papagayo: this white sandy beach is sheltered by cliffs and is said to be the most beautiful beach in Lanzarote in the south of the island, so hire a car or choose a hotel in nearby Playa Blanca to drink in the views at sunset.

Ibiza

Of course there’s a tranquil, peaceful side of the island, but if you and the girls love a good party, head straight to the resorts Ibiza is famous for. Buy tickets for the best clubs on the island (they’re world-renowned and worth visiting at least once in your lifetime), dancing until the sun rises in places like Pacha, Amnesia and Ushuaïa.

You can also get hold of tickets for boat parties, with maritime adventures heading out of San Antonio, Playa d’en Bossa or Ibiza Town, and it’s well worth doing for the scenery, atmosphere and memories. But, if you decide you’ve had enough partying, why not take some time out and go for a boat ride to Es Vedra instead? This tiny island is beautiful with gorgeous views of the setting sun, and it could be just the thing you need to recuperate at the end of your holiday.

Barcelona

If you fancy a city break with the option of spending time on the beach, look no further than Barcelona. This sunny Spanish city offers the Barceloneta beach – a stretch of golden sand that’s only ten minutes from the city centre. Spend the morning lying on the beach while the temperatures are comfortable, dipping in and out of the sea and snacking from the various restaurants and cafes that line the seafront. Then, spend the afternoon doing a spot of shopping in the air-conditioned shopping centres before heading out to the independent boutiques and markets. There’s so much culture to soak up in this destination, with sights such as the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, the Gothic Quarter and the Museu de la Catedral just waiting for you to explore. Consider booking tickets for the Flamenco Night at the Tablao Cordobes – it’s touristy but memorable, and great fun too.

Will you head to any of these destinations for a girls’ holiday this year?
