The fash pack came out to play last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City for The CFDA Awards (fashion’s equivalent of the Oscars). Naturally all of this season’s signature trends made an appearance on the red carpet – namely off-the-shoulder, slip dresses, cut-outs and glam-goth. And while there weren’t too many jaw dropping looks to choose from and quite a few fails (we couldn’t really quite get our heads around Ciara’s choice of outfit), there were some who made the best dressed cut…. Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn star together for the first time in Burberry SS15 campaign
Can we take a moment to appreciate the fabulousness of this picture? Burberry are the gift that just keeps on giving. First they gave us Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne and now we have Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn. Shot together for the first ever time Campbell and Dunn look absolutely amazing for Burberry’s SS15 campaign. Celebrating modern British talent and directed by Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer had only great things to say about the gorgeous pair, “Naomi and Jourdan – two great British icons, two strong, beautiful women and the two perfect faces for our new campaign. It is, as always, a real privilege to work with them.” Also starring alongside the dynamic duo are musicians George Barnett and George Le Page. Check out the campaign in the video below. It’s bright, bold and has us wishing for spring! The campaign marks Naomi’s first time with Burberry since featuring in their 2001 campaign. On working with Burberry again Naomi said, “I admire what Christopher and the entire Burberry family are doing so it’s great to be back working with the brand again. We’ve all witnessed the evolution of this great British brand and it is a privilege to be a part of its continuing progress within the world of fashion”. She continued, “I was thrilled to work with Jourdan Dunn for the first time – it was a lot of fun. But above all, it’s always rewarding for an artist to work on a campaign for a world-class product.” We love the campaign. It’s genius. Thoughts?
Read MoreBirthday girl Jourdan Dunn smoulders in Stella McCartney
We are as much in love with Jourdan Dunn as we are with her BFF Cara Delevingne – especially when it comes to their own individual off-catwalk style. Ms Dunn once again wowed us on Monday night, as she flashed her enviably long and seemingly never-ending pins in a dangerously short fringed dress from the Stella McCartney autumn/winter 2014 collection. She completed her look with a matching Stella McCartney clutch, strappy black sandals, and sleek and straight hair. She definitely stole the show with her sexy ensemble, which was a good thing seeing as she was out celebrating her birthday once again (she turned 24 last week!) and it’s always customary for the birthday girl to stand out from the crowd. Can you believe that this picture was taken as she was leaving London’s Chinawhite? Yep that’s right – this is what Jourdan Dunn looks like at the end of the night when the rest of us would be usually stumbling around and looking a little worse for wear. There’s a reason she’s one of the hottest and most in-demand young models of the moment…
Read MoreJourdan Dunn vs. Anna Dello Russo…Who wore Moschino better?
This week’s dress-off has pulled in two major fashion players, both of whom know how to leave their well-dressed imprints on our style-saturated minds. Upping the glam factor during Fashion Month, as per usual, was Anna Dello Russo – the high priestess of unabashed, high end fashion that says nothing of a tamed approach to dressing in the morning. Sporting autumn/winter ‘14’s biggest parody of fast fashion – the ‘Over 20 Billion Served’ McDonald’s sweatshirt, masterminded by Jeremy Scott at Moschino – during Milan Fashion Week, ADR gave us (and the flurry of street style photogs) pure, unadulterated viewing pleasure. Wearing it as a dress, she accessorised with a matching quilted bag, featuring the symbolic Golden Arches; a woollen scarf and lace-up booties. The matching phone cover certifies this look as Dello Russo down to a T. But, putting a slightly more pared back spin on this brash runway number was Brit babe Jourdan Dunn, who opted to take a much more NYC approach with her styling. Tempering the loudness of the sweat with all-black staples; a leather mini skirt, shearling coat, trusty tote and Balenciaga cut-out boots completed the look. Perfect. So, who deserves to be crowned the sartorial queen in this war of wonderful wares? Given there’s a world of difference between the styles of these two fashion queens; we’re sticking with our slick style guns on this and awarding Jourdan the accolade. Anna’s power dressing prowess never fails to excite, but Jourdan’s effortless ease makes her look a lot more wearable. You go, girl. [Images: Jourdan; Anna]

Hello, you gorgeous Brit model! Gracing the MFL screens for the second time this week, after her scoop in our Best Dressed at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, we can’t stop ogling Jourdan Dunn’s perfect red carpet style! The stunner wore a beautiful, embellished Hugo Boss autumn/winter 2013 gown, which featured a calf-flashing slit and a plunging neckline. On anyone else, this look could’ve gone seriously downhill, but Jourdan failed to disappoint. Looking every inch the leggy, sultry glamazon that she is, Jourdan paired the breathtaking gown with wine-hued ankle strap sandals and simple drop earrings. Hair was slicked black and jaw-droppingly glossy, as Jourdan opted for an evening-perfect smoky eye, with the rest of her make up kept to an absolute minimum. With classy flashes of flesh on show, a barely there make up palette and a body to-die-for, landing our coveted Best Dressed title a second time this week should really come as no surprise for this runway princess! What do you think of Jourdan’s daring yet delectable look? Drooling, like us?
Read MoreJourdan Dunn nails the festival look at V Festival
If you thought V Festival was all about the live music then you’re sorely mistaken. As with most events, it was of course all about the fashion, and both A-listers and non celeb festival goers alike pulled out all the sartorial stops for the weekend. It was a celeb, however, whose outfit caught our attention for all the right reasons… Jourdan Dunn was easily one of our best-dressed celebs of the weekend – on and off stage – as her simple but festival appropriate attire really ticked all our boxes! JD showed off her svelte catwalk model body by donning some cute denim cut-off shorts, and made everyone green with envy by displaying her toned tummy courtesy of a shredded crop top. The fringed boots really gave her look the essential festival vibe, but she stayed ultra glamorous by opting for voluminous hair and dramatic eyes. Festival style done right! [Image]

It’s Friday, the sun has come back out to play, you’ve worked hard all week – those are all perfect excuses to have a mini party at your desk. That’s what we’re telling ourselves anyway! As a little Friday treat, we have Jessie J‘s brand spanking new music video for new single It’s My Party (how apt) to show you – and we are thrilled to tell you that it features none other than British model extraordinary Jourdan Dunn! “It was Jourdan’s first music video, so that was really fun for me to experience that with her – sitting next to a supermodel,” said the singer and Marie Claire UK September cover girl. “It was fun, it’s like a straight-up party video.” We thought Cara Delevingne might have been more suited for a “party” video but Jourdan absolutely nails it. We think Jourdan and Jessie make a fantastic team and we don’t think this should be the last time the girls work together! Watch the video for It’s My Party below and let us know what you think of Jourdan’s appearance.

We love it when Jourdan Dunn is joined by one of her famous model pals on her online cooking show Well Dunn with Jourdan Dunn (remember when she invited BFF Cara Delevingne?), and this time round she has enlisted the help of the one and only Karlie Kloss! So what’s on the menu in the latest episode, you ask? A South Indian vegetable curry and gluten free cookies! Sounds interesting, no? As Jourdan confesses that she “can’t bake for sh*t”, Miss Kloss was on hand to help her bake the very aptly named “Karlie’s Kookies”. (Oh yes, it’s not just the Kardashians who know how to work the letter K!) It’s a great episode – not just for the belly laughs, but you’ll also learn how to avoid crying when chopping an onion – sort of – and hear some tales about Karlie and Jourdan along the way. Not to be missed – enjoy! http://youtu.be/ejfFYAujTeg

Jourdan Dunn’s Well Dunn with Jourdan Dunn cooking show is back on our computer screens for a brand new season, and who better to help the model kick off the second season in style than her fellow Brit BFF Cara Delevingne? So what happens in the season two premiere, you ask? Cara – dressed in her newest and cutest onesie, naturally – visits the Well Dunn kitchen to play sous chef, and learns a thing or two about cooking shrimp tempura (including removing the “doo doo” – Jourdan’s word, not ours). The girls also recall the first time they met on a very rocky beach in Brighton (hint: there was “white girl” rapping involved) and discussed being a “modern day wifey”. As you would expect, hilarity ensues… check out the video below to see for yourselves. Anyone else think Sous Chef Cara should be a permanent fixture of the show? http://youtu.be/3nAf-gmYKVs
Read MoreCara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn to make Victoria’s Secret debut
We know that Cara Delevingne has had an epic run during Fashion Month for the spring/summer 2013 season, with best pal Jourdan Dunn not too far behind her, but there’s one catwalk the pair haven’t yet conquered: the Victoria’s Secret one. Until now that is… Word on the blogosphere is that the two British besties will walk in the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for the first time in their careers – and we doubt it’ll be the last time either. Other models expected to feature in the show include Miranda Kerr, Candice Swanepoel, Karlie Kloss, Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio, who was of course given the honour of modelling this year’s $2.5 million Fantasy bra. The show will take place in New York this week – November 7th to be exact – and will be broadcast all around the world in December. Is there a better Christmas present? [Telegraph] [Image]
Read MoreJourdan Dunn to host online cooking show
If stereotypes are anything to go by, you wouldn’t think that a runway model would be that interested in food would you? With that in mind, this bit of news may surprise you. British supermodel Jourdan Dunn – who along with pal Cara Delevingne have more or less dominated the catwalks this spring/summer 2013 season – is set to host an online cooking show with Jay Z which goes by the very apt name of – wait for it – Well Dunn with Jourdan Dunn. How good does that sound? Can we get an additional round of applause for the sheer awesomeness of that name as well, please? And may we suggest giving whoever thought of that name a pay rise? Thank you! If her previous tweets about food and cooking are anything to go by, we think we’re going to be in for a real treat. You can catch Jourdan Dunn’s show on YouTube – Jay Z’s YouTube channel to be exact. Let us know your thoughts!

Spoilt for choice is definitely an understatement! Teen supermodels Jourdan Dunn and Chanel Iman feature in a double whammy cover shoot for Teen Vogue’s November issue. In a rare shoot, the two young teens appear on the fashion magazine’s cover together; surprising when there has been much speculation about the pair’s rocky relationship. Regarding competition, Jourdan told Teen Vogue. “There aren’t a lot of us, but instead of sticking together, we’re pitted against each other. People will say things in Chanel’s ear like, ‘Jourdan is taking your spot’, and then they’ll say to me, ‘Don’t trust Chanel’. The problem they face? There’s only room for one black girl. ‘You’re being told, ‘So and so is only booking one black girl. It’s either you or Jourdan, said Chanel. The girls, however, are making history as two of the most successful black women in the industry. Not since Naomi Campbell has a black model generated so much intrigue as Chanel, who landed her first Vogue cover at 16 and is currently one of the youngest Victoria’s Secret models in the label’s history at 18. Clearly her pose-practising as a child paid off. 19-year-old London-born Jourdan, meanwhile, made history in her own right by walking the runway at Prada, the first black model to walk a Prada show since Naomi Campbell 10 years ago, might we add, as well as winning 2008’s Model of the Year award. Thankfully, the fashion world is beginning to diversify and the two teen supers have united. “The only way to improve the situation is to come together, said Chanel. At least they’ve got their heads screwed on. The November issue of Teen Vogue hits newsstands on October 13th.

It’s the event every fashionista has been waiting for. The annual Met Gala took place last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the majority of celebs in attendance didn’t disappoint. Hosted by Rihanna, Donatella Versace, Amal Clooney and Anna Wintour, the theme of the evening was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” While as per usual, some starlets copped out by playing it safe in a standard gown that would have been at home at any red-carpet, to the delight of us here at MFL, others such as Rihanna (whom never lets us down), Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively, Zendaya and many more put in 150%. Balmain x H&M will finally be unleashed tomorrow and we think it’s safe to say, it’s the most anticipated collaboration to date. The collection (which has been criticised by some for being a tad pricey), is everything we expected it to be – highly glam and packed with tons of sexy sequinned pieces. Available both online and in-store, it’s imperative that you know exactly what you want. Demand is high, and there won’t be much time to snap up your must-haves. Thankfully the collection lands just in time for the festive season and includes a number of sparkly, statement “wow” pieces. We’re pretty much coveting everything featured in the campaign picture above and then some. Suffice, to say it was tough to narrow down our top picks to just 10, which is why we’ve gone slightly over with our 11 must-buys and to be honest we nearly had 12. But, after much deliberation we decided not to include the pink sequinned gown as worn by Jourdan Dunn in the pic above. So, here goes, here’s our top Balmain x H&M partywear picks! 1. Although the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the British Fashion Awards is out of our hands (and we’re kind of glad about it too, as we couldn’t possibly choose between JW Anderson, Christopher Kane and Erdem!), we do actually have a say in who walks away with the British Style Award. The 20 nominees have been released today, and it looks like the competition is fiercer than ever. There’s a real mixed bag of famous faces in there – from models to actresses to human rights lawyers – but there’s one thing they all have in common and that’s impeccable style. We think we’re going to take a while to cast our votes… The ten boys who have been shortlisted are, in no particular order, Douglas Booth, Benedict Cumberbatch , Ralph Fiennes, Bobby Gillespie. David Beckham, Daniel Sturridge, David Gandy, Idris Elba, Jamie Hine and Tinie Tempah. The ten girl who have been nominated are, once again in no particular order because we don’t want to influence you, Cara Delevingne, Emma Watson, FKA Twigs, Amal Cooney, Dame Helen Mirren, Kate Moss, Kate Bush, Rita Ora, Jourdan Dunn and Keira Knightley. Phew! There is also an “other” box to tick if you think someone else deserves the award (Kate Middleton or Harry Styles, perhaps?). Voting closes on November 5th, and everyone who votes will be entered into a prize draw to win 2 tickets to attend the awards ceremony on December 1st. So, get voting!

It’s never easy calling who walk away with the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the annual British Fashion Awards, and this year we think the decision might be the hardest one ever. J.W. Anderson, Erdem and Christopher Kane are all up the coveted gong, while Christopher Bailey for Burberry, Paul Smith, Tom Ford, and JW Anderson (again) are up for Menswear Designer of the Year. Will young designer J.W. Anderson walk away with least one award? Do you think he can do the double? Anything is possible! Additionally, Anya Hindmarch, Charlotte Olympia and Nicholas Kirkwood are up for Accessories Designer of the Year, while Alexander McQueen, Mary Katrantzou and Roksanda are up for Red Carpet Designer of the Year. Cara Delevingne is up against her BFF Jourdan Dunn and Sam Rollinson for the Model of the Year prize – do you think there will be any animosity between them on the night? We doubt it! The British Fashion Awards will take place on December 1st at the London Coliseum, and will once again be hosted by Jack Whitehall after he did such a good job last year. It’s all been hotting up in Paris these past 24 hours, with brand spanking new spring/summer 2015 collections from the likes of Lanvin, Roland Mouret, Nina Ricci and Balmain being the reasons why. Alber Elbaz celebrated Lanvin’s 125th anniversary with an outstanding collection that paid homage to the French fashion House’s history but stayed in tune with the modern woman at the same time too. If anyone can do it, Alber Elbaz can! The Balmain show might just be one of the most star-studded ones we’ve seen so far thanks to its mixture of A-list FROWers and catwalk models. Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Joan Smalls and Kendall Jenner were just a few of the famous model faces strutting their stuff in Olivier Rousteing’s designs, while the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner and Kanye West all sat pretty on the front row to take in the new season pieces with an unrestricted view. And speaking of those new season pieces – it was all about the laser cut, check print, summer brights, and skin. Lots of skin was on show thanks to the bralets, sexy short-hemmed dresses, cut-out detailing and low necklines. Roland Mouret’s latest outing was just as sharp and en-vogue as ever; the perfect wardrobe for the professional woman on a tropical getaway. Asymmetric silhouettes, bright colourways, sharp collars – everything we love about Roland Mouret with a chic but relaxed twist. The young celebs will be all over this collection for their red carpet premiere outings, you mark our words. It was a wise choice choosing Bajan superstar Rihanna to be the face of the Balmain spring/summer 2014 ad campaign images, but we bet creative-director Olivier Rousteing didn’t think about how hard it was going to be to find someone to replace her for the new season. We don’t know how long he and the Balmain team spent racking their brains for a suitable replacement, but we think they will definitely be pleased with the end results, as they have picked six of the best, most dynamic modelling faces of the moment – Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Ysaunny Brito, Issa Lish, Kayla Scot and Binx Walton. “I could not be more happy with this campaign,” said Olivier Rousteing. “It illustrates my vision of the house. These six different women, from such an incredible mix of backgrounds, are all united to present what a modern French house can be.” The modelswere photographed by the legendary Mario Sorrenti under the art direction of Katie Grand, and really do emulate modern-day Parisian fashion at its finest. The celebs were out in force for the third day of Paris Fashion Week – and we don’t just mean on the front rows! Some of the most in-demand supermodels walked the runway for some of the biggest fashion designers in the world. Here are our highlights from the latest goings on at Paris Fashion Week: LANVIN AW14 Rihanna joined Emma Roberts and other such famous faces to witness the Lanvin autumn/winter 2014 collection first-hand; we’re not jealous at all, honest! Alber Elbaz presented a versatile yet somewhat experimental collection this time around – we believe his exact words were Experimental, Extravagant and Extreme – ensuring that fur and ruffles played a huge part in his light and fluffy new season range. Asymmetric silhouettes and Chanel inspired tweed also made an appearance. The silk dresses were a refreshingly new yet reassuringly familiar addition to the collection, adding the signature Lanvin elegance to the proceedings. Red carpet faves, for sure! NINA RICCI AW14 Jessica Alba watched the Nina Ricci autumn/winter 2014 collection from her comfy seat in the front row, which has got us pretty excited as we imagine what new-season pieces she will be wearing over the next few months as she goes about her daily business or rocks up on a red carpet. Sparkling, shimmering eveningwear was the highlight of the collection, with the designer not being shy of an embellishment or two. Or six. Wool skirt suits, chic jackets, cosy cashmere jumpers, and much more! BALMAIN AW14 Although there were a lot of big faces on the Balmain front row – did we mention Rihanna was one of the schlebs sitting pretty on the FROW? – some of the world’s biggest and hottest models of the moment walked the show too. It was a star-studded affair all round, […]

The Oscars, the Grammys, and more red carpet premieres than you can shake a stick at – 2013 definitely gave us some stylish highs and lows. However we’re focusing on the former as opposed to the latter as we were always taught that “if you haven’t got anything nice to say, don’t say it at all”, and that’s what we’re sticking to. For this post, anyway! We’ve trawled through the style archives to find our ultimate best-dressed stars of 2013, and we’ve finally settled on a top 10. Yes, there were sleepless nights, arguments, and copious amounts of coffee consumption, but we’re satisfied with our verdict. Let us know if you agree with us, and whether you think we’ve left anyone out. Or given someone a spot they don’t deserve! Jennifer Lawrence in Dior at the Oscars. The belle of the ball, the ultimate Princess living every little girl’s sartorial dream! Angelina Jolie in Saint Laurent at World War Z premiere. Angelina was all-smiles on the red carpet, and we can’t help but smile when looking at this stunning image of her! Taylor Swift in Reem Acra at Winter Whites charity gala. The perfect regal ensemble to wear to sing karaoke with Prince William and Jon Bon Jovi! Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen at Blue Jasmine premiere. Cate really wowed on her Blue Jasmine promo tour, but this monochrome creation was our utter favourite. Simply magical! Sandra Bullock in J Mendel at the Venice Film Festival. The ladies in red! Sandra was sexy, smouldering, sharp… and did we already say sexy? Michelle Obama in Jason Wu at the Inauguration Ball. Michelle Obama made Jason Wu’s day year life by once again choosing him to design her gown for the historical event! Rihanna in Azzedine Alaia at the Grammy Awards. Red […]
Read MoreCara Delevingne was the most Googled fashion name of 2013
After winning Model of the Year at last year’s British Fashion Awards, we predicted that Cara Delevingne’s fame and fortune would go through the roof. We definitely weren’t wrong, because the British model has only gone and secured the top spot in Google’s annual Zeitgeist list for fashion folk. Congrats, Cara! With all the things that have been going on for her this year, from ad campaigns to fashion week shows to new acting roles to rumoured relationships with One Direction’s Harry Styles, we’re definitely not surprised to see Cara Delevingne secure the top spot! So Cara is officially the UK’s most searched for fashion figure on Google (Victoria Beckham topped the Bing list, fyi), and has beat the likes of Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn (who came a respective second and third) with former CEO of Burberry Angela Ahrendts securing the fourth spot. We reckon a lot of that traffic must have come when she sensationally stepped down from her CEO position to take up a job at Apple! And it isn’t just fashion folk that Google has been monitoring all year; Coach was the most searched for fashion brand, with Hermes and Chanel closely following. Who have you been Googling this year?

Don’t you love it when your favourite singers, actresses, it girls and models step out in High Street? Gorgeous model Erin Wasson wore a sparkly jumpsuit at the Topshop Celebrates The Holidays At The Grove event in LA, so naturally thought it would only be polite to wear a Topshop Unique piece. We fell in love with the jumpsuit when we saw Jourdan Dunn rock it before our very eyes at the Topshop Unique SS14 show during London Fashion Week back in September (where has the time gone?!) and Erin Wasson has made us love it all over again. It’s the perfect piece to wear to a Christmas party if you want to defy style conventions and go for something a little bit different to the traditional dress but still get into the festive spirit. Get yours from Topshop stores and online before it sells out! Sequin jumpsuit, £350, Unique available at Topshop

The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show seems to get bigger and better every year – and apart from the noticeable absence of Aussie hottie Miranda Kerr – this year was no exception. And much to our surprise and delight, despite reports stating that she was unable to walk in the show due to acting commitments, Cara Delevingne was there too! Happy days! We can’t imagine a VS catwalk without our Brit gals Cara and Jourdan Dunn. As always, the big event was the unveiling of the Fantasy Bra – and as we told you last month, the honour this year went to the stunning South African beauty that is Candice Swanepoel. Doesn’t she look incredible? Taylor Swift certainly didn’t disappoint us with her performance or appearance, as she got into the spirit of things by rocking out in a glitzy and very sexy mini dress, while also taking a leaf out of Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn’s books and donning a British inspired outfit. We’re very proud Brits right now! Take a look at some of our favourite pics from the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2013 below and tell us what your highlights were… Candice Swanepoel – and her Fantasy Bra British invasion – Jourdan Dunn and Cara Delevingne Karlie Kloss – without hair extensions! As always, the highlight of the day, nay, London Fashion Week as a whole, was the Mulberry show at the swanky Claridge’s hotel. We received a very sneaky preview of what to expect from the spring/summer 2014 collection via mood board (check it out here in case you missed it) so knew we were going to be in for a summery, floral treat. And the mood board certainly didn’t let us down! Emma Hill definitely made sure she went out with a bang wit her last collection at the helm of Mulberry. We even got a new, never-before-seen piece of arm candy too – the Kensal bag! This obviously won’t be the last you hear of that name, so watch this space! The Topshop Unique front row was probably the most star-studded of them all, with the likes of Kate Moss, Samantha Barks, Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe and of course Miss Anna Wintour among the famous faces looking on adoringly at the new collection. The nineties were back with a vengeance if Topshop has anything to say about it, as are bare backs, loose-fitting tops and shorts, mirror-detailing (which was reflected – no pun intended – in the mirror invitations we received) and fun prints. Jourdan Dunn’s look above was definitely our highlight of the entire collection! Over at Kate Middleton fave Emilia Wickstead, block pastel colours were the obvious runaway theme in the collection; clean yet exaggerated cuts and silhouettes dominated. Another favourite of the Middleton family is Alice Temperley, who presented a show-stopping Temperley London spring/summer 2014 collection, which was reportedly inspired by a recent trip to Sicily. Regal, embroidery, crystal embellishments, structure, precision and intricate attention to detail – we wouldn’t expect anything less! Elsewhere in London, Mary Katrantzou presented another bright, colourful, intricate collection in her […]
Read MoreThe GQ Men of the Year Awards: the best dressed!
As we told you earlier, the annual GQ Men of the Year awards took place at London’s Royal Opera House last night. And while the awards were very much about the men – apart from the Woman award which went to the lovely Emma Watson – our attention was on the ladies walking the arrivals red carpet instead. What can we say, we’re suckers high fashion on the red carpet! We were very impressed by the girls’ sartorial choices. We loved Emma Watson’s Balenciaga outfit, as she really played to the ‘men’ theme by opting to wear trousers as opposed to a dress. Rita Ora did wear a dress though – an Etro one at that – and looked rather jaw-dropping. Daisy Lowe turned up the sex factor in a very daring Saint Laurent number which will probably cause a bit of a stir, while Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Alexa Chung kept it short and sweet in their respective Versace and Carven numbers. Take a look at all eight of our best-dressed ladies and let us know who gets your vote! Up The bomber jacket: The hit summer cover-up, we’re digging the bomber jacket for its endless styling opportunities. Continuing fashion’s love affair with the sport luxe trend, we’re wearing ours with skinny jeans and a luxe tee by day, and statement earring and a sexy pencil skirt by night. Knuckle-nail rings: From Balenciaga’s lusted-after gold versions to pocket-pleasing high-street alternatives on the high street, knuckle rings have evolved into the next best thing: knuckle-nail rings, as seen on the Chanel Fall Couture 2013 runway. Yeah, couture on your nails is a thing, according to Kaiser Karl. Expensive baby shoes: With a ‘female hustler’ and the ‘king of hip hop’ for parents, you’re expected to have a more than average upbringing. Her Majesty, Blue Ivy Carter, has her own pair of TOM FORD heels. Yes, TOM FORD. Downsized to tot proportions, and modelled by her bootylicious mum. In other news, the world’s first billionaire couple reportedly splashed out a whopping (modest by Jay-B standards) $7,500 on presents for Baby Kimye, including a pair of Christian Dior booties. Moss mania: Although she’s been everywhere since being discovered at the tender age of 14, Kate Moss continues to rule everything, everywhere. From taking over the Stuart Weitzman and Versace AW13 campaigns to teaming up with Carphone Warehouse on a new fashion-tech accessories line and going under the hammer (sort of) at Christie’s. Budget Alaia’s (well, kind of): We’ve been drooling over the real deal, and promptly heading to Zara to snap up the pocket-friendly version! We’re in love with complex, lace up sandals that look like a lot of hard work to slip into, but once you’ve got them on, there’s no coming off. Down Over-the-top underdressing: Oh, Rihanna. Bad, bad Rihanna. Rocking up to Chanel Couture (!) in nothing more than a […]

It’s already a busy week for the red carpet! Monday night saw the prestigious CFDA Awards take place in New York, and last night it was the turn of the Glamour Women of the Year Awards which were happening right here in London – at the Berkeley Square Gardens, to be exact. As we told you earlier, Victoria Beckham walked away with the ‘Woman of the Decade’ prize, but the best thing about her appearance (apart rom the fact that she took her very dapper looking son Brooklyn as her date) was her outfit. Sure, it was black which is big favourite with Posh, but it wasn’t one of her own designs – it was in fact Maison Martin Margiela which came as a pleasant surprise. Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays debuted her new longer hairstyle (and also showed us how her baby bump is progressing) on the red carpet, while new yummy mummy Fearne Cotton showcased her post-baby figure in a bright blue dress. Also brightening things up on the red carpet were Myleene Klass and Les Mis star Samantha Barks, who both wore bright fuchsia dresses, while Jessie J also went for an interesting, eye-popping blue ensemble. Kylie Minogue didn’t put a foot wrong on the red carpet either, as she followed in Kate Middleton’s footsteps by stepping out in a gorgeous peach dress. Peach is definitely having a moment! Take a look at some of our best dressed schlebs from last night’s event: Samantha Barks in Roland Mouret Rita Ora in Marchesa Naomi Campbell in Alexander McQueen Jessie J in Gucci Victoria Beckham in Maison Martin Margiela Kylie Minogue in Moschino Frankie Sandford in Halston Heritage Fearne Cotton Myleene Klass in Rachel Gilbert Jourdan Dunn Hayden Panettiere in Black Halo Eve Cara Delevingne Joanne Froggatt in Alberta Ferretti

Today’s news is inevitably going to be dominated by last night’s Met Gala – after all, how often do fashion’s elite gather in New York for a prestigious night of art, style and glamour? (And in this year’s case – punk!) We told you a few weeks ago that some of the big name designer pieces were going to be up for grabs on the Moda Operandi website the very next day – that means you can get Taylor Swift’s J Mendel gown and Dakota Fanning’s Rodarte dress from today – but that’s not the only place to offer Met Gala outfits. You may have noticed that no less than five celebs decided to rock the red carpet in custom Topshop dresses last night (Julianne Hough, Jaime King, Nicole Richie, Jourdan Dunn and Ashley Madekwe all stepped out in dresses designed by the high street store) and it’s being reported that each and every one will be available for us to purchase a little later this year. How good is that? Looking like a celeb at an affordable price? Yes please! We’ll let you know the launch date as soon as possible! [Vogue]
Read MoreThe Colour Issue: Is Fashion Really Racist?
The courtship between controversy and fashion seems like a concept that has been alive since the hour dot. Scrambling for the spotlight in the dark and dangerous pit of political incorrectness this week is fashion particularly special (read: close) relationship with skin colour. A recent Business of Fashion article got our minds racing about, well, race-related issues when it comes to the catwalk. Needless to say, the world of modelling is a cut-throat one, with specifically soul-crushing needs and the hopes of a million and one girls hanging on by a fine thread – that being the casting agent. And recent reports of internal racism have come to light, with the catwalk crème de la crème the likes of Jourdan Dunn, Chanel Iman and Joan Smalls voicing the distress at experiencing first-hand racism in their stellar careers. So, why is the most rapidly evolving industry on the face of this earth still holding on to archaic stereotypes of beauty and what is classed an ‘acceptable’ on the runway? The article highlights that often, casters put forward lame excuses such as the ‘designer’s vision’ as a justification for taking just ‘one black girl’, or that a particular native beauty ideal and body doesn’t fit with the aesthetic direction of the designer’s collection – hardly relevant when designers regularly make direct cultural references to particular countries and practices, all displayed beautifully on the body of a white model, and given that every model is near the same height mark, and with a similar body shape: boyish and somewhat starved. Diverting attention from fashion for one moment, let’s take a look at Estée Lauder’s efforts to appeal to a wider beauty audience with the introduction of its ‘applicable to all ethnicities’ Idealist range. Distinguishing itself as a global product, suitable for use on any skin tone, it […]
Read MoreThe Brit Awards 2013: The best dressed!
There’s nothing quite like a good British award ceremony to warm us up for the prestigious Oscars that are taking place this Sunday! (Write it in your diaries and stock up on the coffee and popcorn – it’s going to be a long night and we want you to spend it with us!) Anyway last night wasn’t about the Oscars, it was about the one and only Brit Awards which made us very proud to hail from this fine nation! Musicians, actresses and generally all sorts of hot and glamorous stars from across the globe turned up to London’s O2 Arena for the 2013 Brit Awards, and predictably there were quite a few sartorial red carpet choices that set tongues wagging and pulses racing. Always a MFL favourite, Taylor Swift stunned the crowd in a jaw-dropping sexy black Elie Saab number, while Bond Girl Berenice Marlohe had a license to thrill in a wow-worthy gold Donna Karan Atelier dress. It’s a good job Jessie J wasn’t at the Grammy Awards, because the ultra-revealing Versace dress she chose would have violated every inch of the conservative dress code. Nice to see her making the most of her long, raven looks before she goes for the chop in aid of Red Nose Day. Good for you, Jess! Also representing British talent was model Jourdan Dunn in a sexy mini Balmain dress, and Paloma Faith who sparkled in Dolce and Gabbana. Always one for giving us an attention-grabbing outfit is our Paloma, and boy do we love her for it! Take a look at the list of our best-dressed gals from the evening. Who gets your vote? Read MoreRihanna for River Island ad campaigns released
Despite only showcasing her debut River Island collection in London on Saturday night, Rihanna has wasted no time in further promoting her range by already getting the ad campaign images in circulation. What do you think? Surprised she doesn’t appear in any of them herself? The ad campaign was shot by none other than Mario Sorrenti back in December, and features hot models Jourdan Dunn, a rosy-haired Charlotte Free, Tao Okamoto, Ataui Deng and Bambi Northwood Blyth. We’re glad the jumpsuit that Ri-Ri was snapped out in a few months ago features in the ads too, because it just so happens to be one of our favourite pieces. Rihanna for River Island officially hits stores on March 5 so maybe take the morning off work if you want to be one of the first in line to snap something up. We have a feeling it’s going to sell out pretty fast!
Read MoreRihanna will debut her River Island collection at London Fashion Week next month!
Rihanna is coming to the Capital to launch her River Island collection during an epic show at London Fashion Week… and as you can imagine, we practically squealed when the press release landed in our inbox! “Launching at London Fashion Week is a dream come true for me,” Rihanna said. “I have wanted to design my own collection for a long time and to present my collection for River Island alongside all of the other great design talent at LFW is a real privilege. I can’t wait to see the reaction from my fans and the fashion press!” Riri is expected to showcase her highly-anticipated collection on February 16th to tease her fans and fashionistas alike before the collection officially launches on March 5th. Expect to see some of the biggest models of the moment strutting down the catwalk showing off the collection, including campaign star Jourdan Dunn, BFF Cara Delevingne and more. On a scale of 1-10, how excited are you? We’re hovering somewhere between 11 and 15 right now…

If there’s one thing every celeb knows, it’s that there’s nothing like a bit of casual self-promotion… Rihanna has treated her fans and general fashionistas to a sneak peek at her upcoming debut collection for River Island by stepping out in one of the pieces while going about her business in LA. The Bajan pop princess wore a navy blue suede hooded jumpsuit, which is only the second piece from the range we have had a cheeky glimpse of (The first one was this baby right here, which she debuted on good old Twitter!) as the collection has been kept very hush-hush so far. The collection isn’t released until February next year, but we’re hoping to get a few more ideas of what we can expect from it when the ad campaign – shot by Mario Sorrenti and starring Jourdan Dunn – is released. What do you think of Ri-Ri’s jumpsuit? Does it look like something you would buy and wear? [Image]
