It’s official. The British Fashion Council confirmed this morning that Anna Wintour, OBE will be honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award at this year’s British Fashion Awards taking place on December 1st 2014 at the London Coliseum. Despite being widely recognized Wintour still remains a bit of a mystery, however her huge contribution to the fashion industry is undisputed. Starting her career at Harpers & Queen magazine in 1970, Wintour went on to American Vogue as Creative Director in 1983 and returned back to London to serve as Editor-in-chief of British Vogue in 1986. American Vogue became her final home in 1988. Commenting on Wintour’s award Natalie Massenet MBE, Chairman of the British Fashion Council said, “Anna Wintour has helped, nurtured and advised the careers of some of the world’s most brilliant and creative designers. There isn’t a person working in fashion who has not been inspired and influenced by Anna’s leadership.” Wintour faced quite a bit of criticism earlier this year for Kimye’s Vogue cover but in the video below she explains exactly what it takes to be the face of the fashion bible that is American Vogue.

Jennifer Lawrence to co-host 2015 Met Gala alongside Anna Wintour
Jennifer Lawrence is keen to put the last few weeks behind her, and we think that agreeing to co-host the 2015 Met Gala is going to be a great step in the right direction. J-Law will be joining Chinese actress Gong Li, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, businesswoman Wendi Deng Murdoch, and Anna Wintour in hosting the event, which this year will be celebrating the opening of the exhibit entitled Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film, and Fashion. As the title suggests, the exhibit will feature over 100 pieces inspired by China, with the likes of Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, Roberto Cavalli, Peter Dundas for Emilio Pucci, Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano for Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Westwood and Jason Wu among the many designers taking part. Next year’s Met Gala will take place on May 4th, with the exhibit being held at both the Anna Wintour Costume Center and the Department of Asian Art at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. There are two people we never thought would take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that continues to take the social media world by storm. And those people are Victoria Beckham and Anna Wintour. We don’t really need to give a reason as it’s pretty obvious. However, we seem to have been proven wrong as Anna Wintour has taken her Ice Bucket Challenge nomination (by her daughter, no less!) in her stride and taken the challenge like a true champ. Way to go, Anna! The American Vogue editor-in-chief appears to be wearing a Miu Miu dress – something we would never do if we knew we would be drenched in water – and her trademark sunnies, and is doused by several children holding red buckets filled with chilly water. It was obviously a case of “go hard or go home”. Take a look at the video below to see Ms Wintour in action. Oh, and if we are to believe what we see on Victoria Beckham’s Instagram account, we feel she might be next…

While her older half sister Kim Kardashian is in the Big Apple promoting Dash, Kendall Jenner is right here in London – getting chummy with none other than American Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour. Kendall and Anna were spotted next to each other on the Topshop Unique front row during London Fashion Week (they reportedly talked about Newcastle of all subjects…) – but what does their new friendship mean? Does it mean that Kendall might well be on her way to landing a coveted American Vogue front cover – a Kardashian/Jenner family first? Or does it mean that Ms Wintour is exchanging pleasantries with the entire “klan” now that Kim Kardashian is rumoured to have landed the coveted American Vogue US cover? Or is it just a massive coincidence? We’ll let you be the judge! But either way, we think Kendall is well on her way to being the most fashionable Kardashian/Jenner girl; she walked the Marc Jacobs runway in New York and also made an appearance on the Giles catwalk right here in London. Vogue cover or no Vogue cover, we predict big things for Kendall Jenner, so watch this space! [Image]
Read MoreIs anyone really fit to replace Anna Wintour?
You might consider our proposition insane, if somewhat impossible, but it could totally happen. If the “new” age for women retiring in the UK is realistically lingering in the seventies, then Anna Wintour isn’t too far off. At 64, the impeccably bobbed, Manolo-clad Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue faultlessly oozes that polished glamour so many of us can only dream of inhaling from the printer-fresh pages of our monthly subscription Yet, what begins must end, and recent rumours speculating Wintour’s retirement have got the style set buzz-chatting – some with confusion, others with a glimmer of excitement at whom might be deemed worthy to take the helm of the world’s grandest fashion institution. So, instead of suffering sleepless, sweaty nights figuring out what will happen to the physical impression Anna has left on her regular FROW spot – if she ever decides to hang up that Prada fur coat – we’ve gathered our heavy-hearted thoughts and picked out five possible replacements. Yes, human replacements, not some page-flicking robot with impossible-to-attain hair. Having said that, who knows what the future holds? The WAG-turned-wardrobe queen: Victoria Beckham Churning out winning runway ensemble, season-on-season, VB knows a thing or two about what makes winning fashion editorial content. It doesn’t hurt that she’s permanently well-dressed, backed up by a good-looking brood and a super-successful, hunk-in-pants husband. Her consistency, business-meet-fashion discipline and taste for luxury could easily put her in the pool of potentials. Carries comes to life: Sarah Jessica Parker Hey, hey! Wintour’s bestie (they enjoy “private dinners” on the regular), Sarah Jessica Parker, is possibly the closest suspect we’ll get to having an A-lister take the reigns after Anna. Although the actress has denied all rumours about replacing the powerful editor-in-chief, they do share a love for fashion fundraisers, Manolos and pretty dresses. Kate Boss. Not Moss: She’s […]

Read MoreSarah Jessica Parker is NOT taking Anna Wintour’s job!
She may have briefly played the role of a Vogue online editor in Glee, she may be best buds with Anna Wintour, and she may have starred in one of the most fashionable shows of all time, but Sarah Jessica Parker is NOT replacing Anna Wintour when she retires as Editor-in-Chief of Vogue. At least, that’s what some “insiders” are telling the Daily Mail… “It would be a fun thing for her, but she already has so much on her plate it’s not an option and she actually has never considered it before,” the insider reportedly said. “Anna and Sarah Jessica have been friends for a long time and the idea of Sarah Jessica taking Anna’s position at Vogue has never been discussed,” another rep from Vogue apparently said. The rumours surfaced earlier this week on Radar, but we guess we’ll just have to wait patiently for more info. Is it too early to be thinking about a replacement for Anna Wintour? Who do you think the ideal Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue should be? [Daily Mail]
Read MoreThe Met’s Costume Institute now named “The Anna Wintour Costume Center”
Anna Wintour has received the ultimate honour; after all of her hard work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute (she’s been a trustee since 1999!), the Met has decided to rename the entire Costume Institute exhibition space after her. Ladies and gents, say hello to ‘The Anna Wintour Costume Design Center’. “Anna Wintour’s extraordinary advocacy and fundraising have made this state-of-the-art space a reality,” said the Met’s chairman Daniel Brodsky. “She has the rare ability to rally diverse groups across a wide range of industries to support The Costume Institute so it can educate and inspire visitors from around the world.” Beyonce spoke out yesterday about how girls really don’t run the world, despite the lyrics in her song of the same name suggesting otherwise. However, we don’t think that’s true for all females, as Anna Wintour is doing a ruddy good job of running the fashion world. The Anna Wintour Costume Center will officially reopen on May 8th with the Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibition red carpet. Do you like the new name change? [Telegraph]
Read MoreAnna Wintour is Worst Dressed of the Week in Prada
We’re looking over our shoulders as we write this, in case, y’know, Anna’s style army is hunting us down. That’s Anna Wintour, in case you were wondering. Spotted in what may become a Worst Dressed Of The Year contender pretty soon, Madame Wintour took to the red carpet for the season three premiere of ‘Girls’ earlier this week, in a Prada Spring 2014 fur coat. But this wasn’t any old coat. No. Painted boldly with a woman’s portrait, the snug cover-up was perfect for battling the New York City deep freeze, but Anna’s overall styling left us in a *facepalm* pose for some time. Paired with an even longer skirt (what?!) and knee-high leather boots (no Manolos? Where are the Manolos? Bring back the Manolos!), Anna’s styling went the complete opposite way to the runway-ready, easier on the eye look. Sporting her signature bob and stern semi-smile, the American Vogue E-I-C decided to add some extra oomph to the “eughh” factor by adding a peculiar looking scarf to the mix. Yes, we get that you wanted to chill-block, Anna, but this outfit just screams “NO!” Pull up the skirt hem and ditch the scarf, and you might have a winning look on your hands, but this time, you’re so not in vogue, Anna. Read MoreThe most serious fash-off ever: Anna Wintour vs. Marc Jacobs in Prada
Yes, you read that right. We’ve stepped into this week’s fash-off with bated breath, because it really is so important. And scary. Last week, at a screening of The Great Gatsby in New York, two fashion gods were united in the same Prada spring/summer 2013 coat. *Cue awkward cough/shuffle* Anna Wintour, who is viewed as nothing less than the Queen Bey of the fashion world (we mean that in power, not booty, terms), would have you believe she has a firm grip over the who-wears-what at high profile events where she is in attendance, ensuring that she is the only one wearing a particular piece from the latest runway collection. Yet, upon coming face-to-face with Marc Jacobs in the exact same look, we figure the expression on both their faces reads something like this: ‘Have we, I mean WE committed the ultimate fashion faux pas?’ But regardless of this sartorial mishap, the most awkward question is yet to come: who do you think wore Prada better? Naturally, Wintour went her signature elegant way, with dainty heels and a pristine bob, whilst Jacobs brought the fun to Prada (not that Prada needs it ) with printed socks and sneakers. Safe to say, we’re remaining undecided on this one; wouldn’t want to experience the wrath of either style deity, frankly speaking! We’ll leave you to decide this week’s fash-off champ… [Image: Telegraph]

We know that Anna Wintour is a charitable woman who loved a good fundraiser – let’s not forget that she helped raise $40 million for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign. Therefore it should come as no surprise to learn that she is in the giving spirit once again, only this time she has donated two bags to the Beating Bowel Cancer auction which is taking place on eBay. The bags in question are gorgeous cream and orange Reed Krakoff Boxer Tote beauty (see pic above), and the Salvatore Ferragamo Fergie Braided Leather Gancini Hobo. How generous Ms Wintour! “She’s a really nice lady,” said auction organiser Dafydd Jones. “If you don’t ask you don’t get, I do this in my spare time I work full time, I send genuine approachable from the heart e-mails and I manage to get some really nice stuff. “Through this auction I want to raise awareness of bowel cancer, so more people know what to look out for and aren’t afraid to talk about it By raising funds for Beating Bowel Cancer, more patients and their families can be supported by the charity.” Click here to see the bags and to check out what other items have gone under the hammer. Whoever said fashion and politics don’t mix has some serious reconsidering to do… Remember that Runway to Win initiative (the brainchild of Anna Wintour) that we told you about a few months ago? Well it only went and raised a staggering $40 million in total for Barack Obama’s campaign! If your memories are a bit iffy, allow us to summarise. A host of celebs and designers teamed up to create all sorts of fashionable items ranging from t-shirts to bags to raise money for Obama’s campaign. Beyonce, Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane von Furstenberg and Prabal Gurung were just a few of the famous faces who took part… We think it’s safe to say that it was a roaring success as the $40 million contributed rather nicely to Obama’s whopping $637.3 million total. Even though Anna Wintour spearheaded the Runway to Win collaboration, let’s not forget that she also lent her support to the President by hosting all those star studded fundraisers. See, it isn’t just the fashion world that owes a lot to the Vogue editor! [Styleite]

To celebrate the ultimate fashion Bible’s milestone 120th anniversary, Anna Wintour spoke out about the first issue she edited back in November of 1988 (pictured above with the first ever issue of the mag!), and what went through her head when she selected the cover look featuring Israeli model Michaela Bercu… “Michaela was wearing an haute couture Christian Lacroix jacket with a beaded cross, all very “Like a Prayer,” and stonewashed Guess jeans,” Anna writes. “The jacket was actually part of a suit, but the skirt didn’t fit Michaela… not that that mattered. In fact, it only served to reinforce the idea to take couture’s haughty grandeur and playfully throw it headlong into real life and see what happened. “What none of us expected was to run that picture on the cover, least of all the magazine’s printers, who called up and asked with some consternation, ‘Has there been a mistake?’ I couldn’t blame them. It was so unlike the studied and elegant close-ups that were typical of Vogue’s covers back then, with tons of makeup and major jewellery. This one broke all the rules. “I had just looked at that picture and sensed the winds of change. And you can’t ask for more from a cover image than that.” We’ll say! Anna also selected 14 of her ultimate favourite images… and a few of them might surprise you! Check them out in Vogue’s slideshow here. At the Sony Ericsson Open Anna was spotted wearing J Brand’s ‘914’ jeans with a long-sleeved printed Proenza Schouler sweater and her trademark black sunglasses. We love the shape of the jeans – cigarette slim around the top with a kick flare from the knee is the most stylish way to wear them this season. Anna knows. Anna Wintour and Samantha Cameron gathered quite the crowd yesterday morning as London’s fashion press –us included – arrived at the Ritz for the unveiling of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty – an exhibition held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art to celebrate the British designer’s incredible career. Launching on May 2nd at the Costume Institute Gala (two days before its official opening at the museum on the 4th), the exhibition will display around 100 examples of McQueen’s magnificent contribution to fashion, from his first postgraduate collection in 1992 to Angels and Demons, his final collection shown posthumously in 2010. “When I heard from Anna Wintour that the Costume Institute’s major annual exhibition would explore the artistry of Alexander McQueen, I was thrilled by this recognition of British fashion,” Samantha Cameron said, kicking off yesterday’s breakfast conference at the Ritz – the perfect location; McQueen had shown his first post-graduate collection there with Isabella Blow running and grabbing people from the isles to come and view it, we were told. “I’m sure that the party on the 2nd May will be a very, very special night.” Thomas P Campbell, director of the Met, and Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s curator, both spoke lovingly – and in length – of McQueen’s work and life as an artist, thanking Anna Wintour for her continuing support, Sarah Burton for providing invaluable insight and Stella McCartney, who he named co-chair of the Costume Institute Ball – and all of whom were sitting front row at yesterday’s breakfast alongside some of McQueen’s most celebrated creations. “McQueen’s work fits easily in the discourse of art. Before Zoe could piece together another boho chic ensemble for one of her 20-something clientele, the waifish stylist was dropped by her long-time agency without need for explanation.

Stylist Rachel Zoe got more than she bargained for after making an honest comment about the lack of Vogue’s influence in today’s celebrity obsessed society. After speaking to the NY Times Zoe was quoted as saying, “Anna Wintour is one of my heroes, but they say that I’m more influential…….As great as it is, Vogue won’t change a designer’s business. But if an unknown brand is worn by a certain person in a tabloid, it will be the biggest designer within a week.” Naturally her comments were branded controversial, I mean no one insults Anna Wintour right? Well according to Page Six, Zoe has subsequently been dropped by her management agency, Magnet and speculations as to whether Ms Wintour had anything to do with her being dumped, are rife. If the rumours are true then it is possible that Vogue may or may not hold as much power anymore but it’s certain that Wintour is still as powerful as ever.
