600 guests compromised mostly of both royalty and celebrities gathered at St George’s Chapel on Saturday afternoon to watch Meghan and Harry exchange their vows in what was a beautiful and touching ceremony. And while some got it wrong with regards to the dress code, others got it very right – namely Lady Kitty Spencer and Amal Clooney, who wowed in bold colours and sharp tailoring. Here we rundown our absolute favourites on what will go down as one of the most memorable days in history! Meghan Markle Confirms Her Father Will Not Attend Royal Wedding
Everything seemed to be going smoothly. It was confirmed that Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle would be walking his daughter down the aisle. Then in the blink of an eye a saga erupted… Speaking to TMZ, he stated that he would no longer attend due to his embarrassment at being exposed for staging paparazzi photos. But he later changed his mind, (again speaking to TMZ) saying that he would in fact make the trip to the UK. However alas, it was not meant to be as he now needs to undergo heart surgery, and as a result can’t make it. Putting the matter to rest, Meghan has released a statement asserting that her father will “sadly” not be at the Royal Wedding. The full statement reads, “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health. I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.” At present it’s unknown who will have the honour of walking Meghan down the aisle, however our money is on her mother Doria Ragland.

The Royal Wedding is fast approaching and we couldn’t be more excited! If like us, you intend on watching Harry and Meghan tie the knot away from the comfort of your sofa (ideally at a street party) you’re going to need certain essentials to celebrate outdoors, stress-free. From a stylish umbrella to a portable charger, avoid getting caught out at the last-minute and ensure you’re fully equipped with the following must-have items. 1. Taking into consideration the unpredictability of the British weather, an umbrella is non-negotiable. But this isn’t just any old brolly. Loved by the Royal Family, Fulton’s Birdcage Umbrella is not only capable of fending off the heaviest of showers but with a transparent dome, coupled with a black trim and handle, it’s super stylish too. Birdcage umbrella available at Fulton Umbrellas. 2. While it’d be lovely to don a pair of sexy heels for the celebrations, the truth is, it’s far from practical. Instead opt for comfy trainers. But we’re not recommending just any old pair of trainers. Ted Baker’s statement making Astrina ruffle trainers are incredibly comfortable and look amazing. With cute ruffles decorating the heel as well as subtle bronze details, they’re smart enough to dress up any outfit. Astrina ruffle detail trousers available at Ted Baker. 3. It’s no secret that Meghan Markle is a fan of Scottish luxury brand Strathberry. The bride-to-be has been spotted carrying their arm candy on a number of occasions. Pay tribute in your own small way by carrying your essentials in their East/West mini cross body bag, as spotted on Meghan. Due to the Meghan Markle effect it’s been out of stock for a while, but it’s finally back. East/West Mini in bottle green available at Strathberry. 4. Read MoreKate Middleton wears £49.99 Zara dress the day after the royal wedding
She may have had two McQueen dresses in one day, but Kate Middleton’s keen to prove she’s still the peoples’ princess, stepping out in a £49.99 Zara dress the day after her marriage to Prince William. Eschewing designer labels in favour of her high street favourites, the Duchess of Cambridge chose to celebrate her first day as a real royal in a cornflower blue pleated polyester dress from Zara and a pair of patent black wedges from L.K. Bennett which cost £129.99 – a friendly reminder that her feet are firmly on the ground, despite her elevated title, if ever there was one. Whilst the outfit’s nothing exciting – it’s classic Kate – it is refreshing to see her steering towards more fashion forward retailers like Zara, as well as sticking by her tried and tested stores. We’ve checked Zara and the dress has sold out in the UK, but it’s still available to buy in the US, so not only, we suspect, is it a recent purchase, US readers can still get your hands on it if you’re quick. As for the shoes, we can’t find them anywhere on L.K. Bennett’s website, so we figure they’re probably past season (but hey, with a bit of luck, they’ll be reissued soon). A girl after our own hearts?

This week no one shone in the beauty stakes more than the stunning future Queen of England, Kate Middleton. Being watched by billions of people around the world on her big day, you may have expected the princess to hire a team of the most talented makeup artists on the planet to get her looking picture perfect, but not so – the newly-elevated Duchess of Cambridge chose to do her own make up (a girl after our own hearts), after receiving a few lessons from makeup artist Arabella Preston. And we reckon she did a pretty brilliant job. Although we would have opted for a little less eyeliner (she simply doesn’t need it), the natural rosy pallette of soft greys and pink blush was a perfect wedding look, but we’d happily rock it any summer day. Here’s how to DIY at home, just like Princess Catherine did… Kate’s opted for a matte finish foundation to leave her skin looking flawless all day. To get a similar look, choose a longlasting foundation that will wear well through all weathers. We love Estee Lauder’s Double Wear stay-in-place makeup. Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Make Up, £22.50, available at House of Fraser. BUY NOW! Loose powder is a must-have in any bridal makeup bag – it will seal your foundation to keep it looking as fresh as possible and remove any unflattering shine on your T-zone. BUY NOW! Kate’s blusher was the perfect choice. In a classic rose shade, it made her look fresh and subtly flushed all day, and according to makeup artist Kay Montano, Kate used Chanel’s ‘Rose Temptation’ to achieve that look. In case you missed it (er, where have you been?), Prince William and Kate Middleton got married on Friday in what was, quite possibly, the grandest ceremony we’ve ever witnessed. Pulling out all the pageantry and pearls, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as they’re now known, celebrated the most-talked about event of the century in true regal style – but they weren’t the only ones who made the effort. Guests – including the royal family and those sitting high enough up on the social ladder to be invited – put on a pretty spectacular performance in the sartorial department with enough fascinators to form a faction, and naturally, our eyes were cast firmly over the fashion spotlight. Here’s our run-down of who wore what to the royal wedding… Pippa Middleton Maid of honour and sister of Kate, Pippa wore a white silk Alexander McQueen dress designed by Sarah Burton. With a scooped cowl neck and delicate lace trim – not to mention an incredibly pert bum – she was the envy of pretty much every woman in the world (except, perhaps, for Kate). Carole Middleton Kate’s mum opted for a powder blue dress coat by Catherine Walker, which sat wonderfully against her skin and matching hat – a proud mother and a proud choice. The Queen Dressed head to toe in lemon, Queen Elizabeth chose a matching dress and overcoat by Angela Kelly. Who knew the Queen was so on-trend? Camilla Parker Bowles Camilla Parker Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall, chose a pale blue and nude gradient look from Anna Valentine, the designer who created her 2005 wedding dress when she married Prince Charles. Princess Eugenie & Beatrice Princess Eugenie opted for a blue Vivienne Westwood dress which unfortunately did little to flatter her figure whilst her sister opted for […]

Read MoreVictoria Beckham wears Victoria Beckham to royal wedding
As predicted, Victoria Beckham wore one of her own designs to the biggest event of the century, opting for a modified slash neck navy dress from her AW11 collection with a floating draped hem at the royal wedding today. Naturally, it skimmed her bump beautifully and looked super slick against her black Christian Louboutin Daffodil pumps and Philip Treacy hat, placed expertly in the centre of her forehead with twig-like twizzles. Of course, she had a better accessory than most – David Beckham – who looked suitably dapper in a Ralph Lauren Purple Label bespoke suit with black crocodile braces and a top hat. Very suave, though apparently he wore his OBE medal on the wrong lapel. You can’t win them all, eh?

Read MoreCheck out some of the tackiest Royal wedding memorabilia out there
When it comes to the royal family, us British love nothing more than a good old china mug adorning our Queen’s face, but quite frankly, Kate Middleton and Prince William’s up and coming wedding has prevoked some rather unusual, and dare we say it, tacky memorabilia – we don’t remember Charles and Diana’s wedding being so merchandise crazy, do you? Practically every little business out there is cashing in on this royal money making window one way or another, from the cute to the practical and the down right outrageous – yep you name it, and someone out there has probably already thought of it. But the tackiest lot of them all has to be a Will’s and Kate Papa John’s pizza, a box of royal wedding cereal, creepy printed Will and Kate bed covers, Pez dispensers (yes you read that right), and, probably the worst by a long shot, royal wedding condoms, reports the Cut – one does not approve! Read MoreKeira Knightley talks weddings and the royals in Marie Claire US March
The UK and US versions of Marie Claire seem to have done a bit of a trade as far as the March issue is concerned. American actress and overall sexpot Megan Fox has appeared on the cover of our glossy, while our very own English rose Keira Knightley is posing pretty for the Stateside issue. Pretty cool, we think. Keira looks just as flawless and gorgeous as ever, but we’re very intrigued by that stunning scarlet dress she is rocking on the cover – we wish we could see slightly more of it, but we have no other complaints. Clearly the most important dress we want to see Keira in is a white one for her upcoming wedding to Klaxons keyboardist James Righton, but she’s not giving too much away in the interview, darn it! She does however open up about Kate Middleton and Prince William’s little’un… “I’m over the moon about the royal baby,” she said. “But I really can’t mount an argument in favour of monarchy. Is that treason? Do I have to turn in my passport?” Uh oh – not sure how well that will go down with the folks in the US of A, who seem to be more obsessed with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge than we are. “Treason” aside, we reckon this’ll be a great issue to get your hands on, so make sure you snap it up when it hits newsstands on February 12th. Click here to check out a behind the scenes vid from Keira’s shoot.

A wedding is a day filled with love, excitement, and vows of commitment for both the bride and the groom. It is a day when everything needs to be perfect and beautiful for the couple, whether it is the dress, decorations, venue, or cuisine. In addition to all these aspects, gold wedding rings and bracelets form an imperative part of the celebration. However, many couples tend to ignore these accessories, which, when worn in the right way, can add that touch of elegance to your outfit. Thus, paying attention to choosing and wearing these rings and bands on your D-day is essential. After all, your wedding day is the most important day of your life, and everything needs to be in line on this very day. Read MoreThrow the Perfect BBQ this Summer Fit for a Royal
With summer in full swing and the lasting effects of a breath-taking royal wedding still dwindling, it’s no wonder we’re all ready to demurely sip glasses of fizz whilst trying not to get sauce from our burgers down our skirts. Yes, barbeque season has arrived and we’re here to tell you how to put that regal spin on your gathering that’ll have you guests feeling like dukes and duchesses. From food and drink down to dress code, you might even find the second in line to the throne knocking on your door asking for an invite. Prepare for All Weathers You don’t want your party to be royally ruined before it’s even started. In the UK, you can never be certain what the weather will do. By offering some coverage in case of rain, your summer BBQ can continue without interruption. Regardless of rain or shine, you’ll want to have your sun umbrella out to offer shade to those who would prefer it. Ideal for younger guests so they’re protected from harmful rays, it also offers a great station for huddling under whilst a raincloud passes in the case of light summer showers. Buying a gazebo is also a fantastic precaution. Not only does it make for a great focal point to the party, reminiscent of the gigantic food tents at all those garden parties at Buckingham Palace. It also provides some cover. Whether or not the rain shows up, costing between £25 and £175, gazebos are great for keeping the food table under cover and adding another level to your garden dynamic. Worst case scenario, if bad weather persists, being prepared to migrate indoors can end up being the best way to save a party. To avoid stress, cater for this outcome in advance. Clear the room you want […]

Today Kensington Palace released three official wedding portraits from Meghan and Harry’s big day and they are truly lovely. The first photograph shows the royal family gathered together in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle along with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland and the cute flower girls and page boys and the second features the newly weds and the flower girls and page boys with huge smiles. The final picture which is shot in black-and-white, captures the bride and groom in a natural pose seated on the stairs of the East Terrace at Windsor Castle. Taken by photographer Alexi Lubomirski, who was also responsible for the couple’s engagement photographs, the portraits are a reflection of the wedding day itself – relaxed and intimate. Issuing a statement along with the three images, Meghan and Harry were said to be “…lucky to have been able to share their day with all those gathered in Windsor and also all those who watched the wedding on television across the UK, Commonwealth, and around the world.” While photographer Lubomirski stated that, “It has been an incredible honour and privilege to document the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s inspiring journey of love, hope and family; from the engagement photos, all the way through to the official wedding and family portraits on Saturday.”
Read MoreMeghan Markle’s Givenchy Wedding Dress Was Absolutely Stunning
It was the moment we’ve been waiting for, for months. On Saturday afternoon, we finally got to see Meghan’s (now known as the Duchess of Sussex) wedding dress and while the style (simple, classic and sophisticated) was exactly what we expected, the designer definitely was not. With the majority of royal fans betting on Ralph & Russo or Erdem as the most obvious choice, the honour of creating one of the most anticipated wedding dresses of all time went to British designer Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy. Made from ivory silk, the beauty of the three-quarter inch sleeved gown lay in it’s bateau neckline which softened the look. The simplicity of the dress was accentuated not only by a 16.5 foot silk tulle veille with a hand-embroidered flower representing each of the 53 Commonwealth countries but also with Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, which was borrowed from the Queen. While some were underwhelmed with Meghan’s wedding dress, we definitely weren’t. It was a perfect choice and complimented the bride’s personal aesthetic beautifully. Equally as stunning was her second wedding dress which she changed into for the evening reception at Frogmore House. Designed by Stella McCartney, the halterneck dress made from silk crepe was slightly sexier but also timeless. Pairing her second wedding dress with custom satin heels by Aquazurra, Meghan paid a touching tribute to Princess Diana by wearing her Asprey Aquamarine ring. It’s a thumbs up from us for both dresses, however if we had to choose, we’d probably opt for Stella McCartney as our favourite, although having said that, it really was pretty hard to decide. Are you loving both dresses? Which was your fave?
Read More12 Of The Best Wedding Ring Trends
Wedding ring trends come and go and there have been many different styles over the decades – but where did the trend begin? It’s hard to pinpoint it exactly but there has been archaeological evidence of wedding rings found dating back to ancient Egypt! The very earliest wedding rings tended to be made out of iron or bronze and until the gold mines sprung up during the 19th century, gold and silver wedding rings were really only for the very wealthy and royalty. It was also the very wealthy that started the trend of using diamonds – around the 15th century. These were generally used as betrothal rings. It is thought the tradition of wearing two rings came from the wearing of a larger “keeper” ring over the top of a diamond and gold wedding band to protect it. Men’s wedding rings became popular in World War II. Since then, exchanging rings has become the norm and picking out the rings has become a major part of planning a wedding. So moving onto the modern era – what are the wedding ring trends for this year? Let’s take a look: Delicate simple bands: If you like a minimalistic style rather than going for something blingtastic, why not choose a delicate band – these slim, sleek rings are perfect for a classic but modern look. Pear-shaped diamonds: Inspired by vintage designs these shaped jewels have been given a modern twist and are back on trend. Wooden rings: Many couples are now moving away from the more traditional gold and platinum rings, towards unusual materials, including wood. This trend appeals to men in particular. Multi-coloured rings: This new trend also seems to appeal more to men and allows the wearer to combine different materials, for example, rose gold with platinum, to create different colours. Twisted rings: With […]

Forget Ellie Goulding at the Royal wedding, and forget Lana Del Rey at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie want to outdo them all, as they have reportedly asked Beyonce and Jay Z to perform at their upcoming nuptials. We need a minute to process this… “Brad told Bey and Jay, that their kids, especially Maddox – adore them,” a ‘source’ apparently told The Daily Star. “He told them it would make their big day extra special to have them both do a number. They were flattered and said they’d do their best to fit it into their hectic schedule, depending on the date.” Squeal! We hope the rumours are true, and we hope that Beyonce and Jay Z can fit Brangelina in. After all, they were famously absent from the Kimye wedding and rather controversially blamed it on their schedules, so let’s hope those aforementioned schedules don’t come in the way of another big celeb wedding. And we have a feeling that this might be one of the biggest and most important weddings Hollywood has ever seen! What songs do you think they should perform? [Glamour]

No one does weddings like celebrities; spectacular, wildly extravagant nuptials are not uncommon when movie stars and other famous brides and grooms tie the knot. We can try to replicate the same grandeur with all the diamond rings and fancy things we want. However, there are a few celebrity weddings that truly stand-out from the rest of the pack. 1. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were married in a sunset ceremony in July of 2000 on a Malibu, California estate. Guests included Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer, Salma Hayek, and Cameron Diaz. The theme of the event was a “Zen garden” and included 50,000 flowers plus candles in the reception tent. A gospel choir and four bands performed, and guests were served lobster and champagne at the reception. A Fireworks display topped off the evening. 2. Donald Trump and Melania Knauss No list of most lavish anything would be complete without real mogul Donald Trump’s name somewhere on it. He wed model Melania Knauss in Palm Beach, Florida in January 2005 and the reception was held at Trump’s stunning Mar-a- Largo Club. The bride wore a 50 pound Christian Dior wedding gown that featured 1,500 beaded crystals, and a 13 foot train. Some of the guests included Barbara Walters, Katie Couric, Rudy Giuliana, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Simon Cowell, Regis Philbin, and Kelly Ripa. The ballroom of Mar-a-Largo was made to look like Versailles for the reception and was decorated with 10,000 flowers. 3. Tiger Woods and Elin Nordgren A grand wedding is no guarantee of marital bliss, but Tiger Woods and Elin Nordgren certainly got married life off to a royal start. They married in 2004 at the exclusive Sandy Lane Resort on the Caribbean island of Barbados. Woods rented out the entire resort in an […]

Before Pippa Middleton and her now famous derriere were thrust into the spotlight at the wedding of Prince William and Kate in 2011, she was already a regular face in high society circles. With such a full telephone book, Pippa must know every wedding site directory in the country as she has attended a fair few weddings over the years. You probably will have heard all about Kate this year with the news of the Royal baby, so here we center on Pippa and her top wedding guest looks. Caroline Seiber’s wedding Pippa’s latest wedding guest look came in July of this year at the wedding of friend Caroline Seiber in the stunning city of Vienna. Pippa braved the heat with bare legs and a lightweight jacket with one of her signature jaunty fascinators. Pippa wore a crepe tailored dress in bright coral by Matthew Williamson with a pair of dusky pink heels. A simple jewelled neckline and a light watch finished off the look perfectly. Opt for bright colour block like Pippa and her two companions for simple chic. A pair of nude heels is great for a petite frame as they help to give the illusion of longer legs! Pretty pastels Back in 2012, Pippa attended another high society do in Oxfordshire, sporting this pretty pastel outfit with laser cut detailing in her light pink frock. Again, we saw Pippa wear a delicate fascinator and a pair of nude heels with a light weight jacket. Pippa demonstrates that you shouldn’t neglect your own style whatever the occasion. That dress The Alexander McQueen dress Pippa wore to Kate and William’s wedding in 2011 has since been coined ‘the Pippa dress’ and spawned many replicas after the event like this one to the right. Simple and elegant, the dress hugged […]

He dressed Hollywood royalty Anne Hathaway on her wedding day, and now he has dressed actual royalty too! Valentino Garavani dressed Princess Madeleine of Sweden on her big day on Saturday, as she married her businessman hubby Christopher O’Neill at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. Congrats to everyone! Valentino created a stunning, larger than life dress (with a four metre train, no less!) made from silk organdies and ivory Chantilly lace, complete with a six metre veil! Didn’t she look gorgeous? A wedding is inarguably one of the most special and memorable days of a woman’s life, but the big occasion didn’t turn the Princess into a bridezilla. According to Valentino, she was anything but! “Working with Princess Madeleine has just been so easy,” the designer said. “She is a very lovely girl. She is modern, fun, full of energy and enthusiasm and she is so beautiful! It has been a pleasure and an honour.” Congrats again to the happy couple, and huge kudos to Valentino for creating such an intricate and extravagant gown! [Telegraph]

Royal Ascot. Two words which are met with mixed emotions: dread, fear, excitement and confusion. Royal Ascot is fast approaching, and at best, it’s pretty much just a fun day at the races with our bestest gal pals. We take the day off work, we drink a bit, we laugh a bit, we gamble a bit (naughty!), and we do it all while wearing our nice dresses, sky high heels that get stuck in the grass, and over-the-top hats. It’s all very Sex and the City, and we’re supposed to have a jolly good time. However, Royal Ascot fashion isn’t as simple as a nice dress teamed with some matching accessories though. It’s far more complicated than that. Hence the aforementioned confusion. And as the dress-code for this month’s Royal Ascot is stricter than ever this year, we have a feeling race-goers and official staff alike are going to be dreading it – as it’s just so easy to get it wrong! For many ladies (we’re not naming any names or pointing the finger at any particular counties) the notion of dressing up actually means quite the opposite. Dressing down. Or dressing not-at-all. The more big and glam the event, the more skin some ladies think has to be shown, which is one of the main problems the Royal Ascot faced before the ultra-strict dress code was implemented. Apart from the occasional wedding and lavish cocktail Christmas party, most British ladies don’t really get the chance to properly dress up, which is probably why so many of us get it wrong. The only thing we regularly dress up for is a night on the tiles at the weekend, and we all know that “less is more” is the unanimous clubwear mantra. Great for clubbing while on the pull, not so […]

Good enough for us to consider getting hitched, the wedding ring selection at Celtic Wedding Rings promises a brush with a beautiful artisanal history. Irish heritage is reflected though the iconic Claddagh ring, said to have been first crafted more than 300 years ago in Claddagh, a fishing village on Galway Bay. Read MorePrincess Beatrice…another wedding, another millinery mishap!
After her much publicised fashion faux pas at Kate and Wills’ wedding earlier this year, we thought Princess Beatrice would have repented for her crimes against fashion, But after stepping out at Zara Phillips’ wedding earlier this week, Bea ‘s proving to be a serial offender. Bea’s penchant for outlandish head wear dies hard, with yet another infamous statement hat perched awkwardly atop her like a piece of space debris. Already dubbed ‘the satellite dish’ by Twitter users, we can only think she chose it to distract us from the rest of her outfit. If her head wear is too outlandish, Beatrice’s’ choice of outfit is conservative beyond her years. Her poorly tailored jacket in its hard to wear shimmering royal blue is a right royal flop, its dowdy shape swamping the poor Princess. Meanwhile, the Princess’ blue floral skirt (designed by Angela Kelly, flowers seemingly PVA-glued on by a group of local primary school children) hangs loose and limp; if Bea’s rocking a peachy P-Middy bum it’s hidden away under layers of badly cut lifeless fabric. They say accessories can make an outfit, but Bea’s clumsily carried clutch bag and bland nude shoes are the straw that broke the outfit’s back. Embarrassingly for poor Bea, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne and the Queen herself were all papped wearing heels in the same greyish shade of nude as they entered the Church. Now we all love our Nans, but borrowing their clothes is surely one step too far. The only thing that saves this throw together outfit is the princess’ fresh faced youthful looks. We think Princess Bea is such a natural beauty that she could make a bin bag look good, and maybe for her next royal function a bin bag would indeed be the way to go; […]
Read MoreZara Phillips’ wedding dress….granny-chic?
The Second Wedding as it will probably come to be known took place on July 30, when the Queen’s granddaughter wed long-term beau Mike Tindall in what was a surprisingly innovative affair by royal standards, complete with drunken merriment thanks to a vodka fountain; fish and chips and a best man with a black eye (Yes, we’re just as intrigued). But let’s cut to the chase – were not concerned with the finer details of the biggest day of this royal’s life as much as we’re feasting our eyes on what she wore. Yes, (deep breath) another dress to dissect and ingest, only to throw up and re-examine in a different light. We were taken aback by Kate’s dress choice as she stayed true to her homeland but chose a designer so eccentric, the fashion population couldn’t help but choke with happiness. She broke free from the quintessential shackles of ‘well-behaved’ royal wedding wear, and chose to let her fashion personality coyly peep through her silk tulle McQueen veil. But for me, equestrienne Zara’s novel approach to selecting her wedding dress truly defines the term ‘granny chic.’ She only went and chose Stewart Parvin, her grandmother’s regular (and favourite) outfitter and the very man who kitted out Queenie on the day. OK, to the dress: a fussy silk tulle cathedral veil which appeared to oddly sprout from the top of Zara’s head rather than fall gently onto her face wasn’t the most appealing first view as she stepped out from the car, but things improved slightly as we focused lower down. The dress itself; a silk faille and duchess satin creation with a corseted waistline appeared flattering, but averagely exciting. It didn’t give me the sudden I-will-replicate-very-dress-for my-wedding-day moment as I got with Kate’s. For a person considered something of a […]

Not even a week after the royal wedding and already the first high street copy of Kate’s McQueen wedding dress has emerged. Northern Irish bridal designer Mary-Rose McGrath created the replica within 24 hours of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding on Friday, working tirelessly with her team to finish the dress before most had finished partying. “I’ve a really brilliant team,” says McGrath. “We gathered together on Friday and the minute Kate stepped out we were sketching and began to cut fabrics.” The gown features long lace sleeves, an elongated neckline and intricate appliqué detailing on the silk skirt to bear a striking resemblance to Sarah Burton’s design, and is currently on display outside House of Fraser in Belfast on Victoria Square. The good news for royal fashion fans? The dress is available to order exclusively at House of Fraser, with prices starting at £1,500.
