This week’s celebrity fash-off involves a severe envy-inducing dress. A multi-pastel coloured stunner from the Valentino Resort 2013 collection; we can’t stop ogling its perfect existence! OK, enough with lusting over a dress we could never afford, and onto which A-lister wore it better. Christina Ricci was the first to make an appearance in the dress at the Elle Fashion | Next Runway Show during New York Fashion Week Spring 2013. Pairing the pretty dress with a black Chanel handbag and black patent leather heels; Chrisitna toughened up this saccharine sweet look to perfection, and, in the process, made us want a Chanel handbag and that dress even more! Second in line to don the Valentino beauty was Olivia Munn; when she made an appearance at the 8th Annual Pink Party in LA. Staying true to Valentino, Olivia wore the dress with the pretty popular all-round ‘Rockstud pumps’, also by the designer, and gave accessories a miss, save for a gold bangle. Unlike Christina, Olivia went down the cutesy route in a cutesy dress; how boring! Christina gets our vote by a mile, for toughening up a cute look, and adding tons of interest to it by avoiding Olivia’s matchy-matchy style. Altough we’re majorly crushing on Olivia’s pumps, Christina’s look has our (Valentino obsessed) heart! Which look are you digging?

Who wore it better? Kim Kardashian vs Ashley Greene in Givenchy Resort
When we saw Kim Kardashian arrive at the RYU opening in New York, the first thing we said was obviously “wow”, which was closely followed by “now where have we seen that dress before?”
Read MoreLea Seydoux vs. Alexa Chung…Who wore Miu Miu better?
Faced with two exceptionally well-dressed women, the decision to pick a winner is never easy. This week, making us tear our hair out (dramatic, we know) are Lea Seydoux and Alexa Chung in the same spring 2014 Miu Miu dress. On the one hand we have a chic Frenchie, who loves nothing more than oozing that je ne sai quoi with every red carpet look she sports; on the other, a Brit famed worldwide for her threw-it-together-and-walked-outta-the-house approach to dressing. Tough one, no? Getting first dibs on the pretty printed number was Lea, who wore it to the EE Rising Star award nominations photo call back in January. Styled with embellished Miu Miu pumps, a simple, centre-parted hairdo and minimal make-up, Lea’s look made for striking eye-opener at the event. Alexa gave the dress its second outing, at the Miu Miu Women’s Tales 7th Edition – Spark & Light screening in February, in New York City. The long-limbed beauty naturally put her stamp on the ultra-feminine look, by accessorising with a snake-print bag and pointy black boots. A causal, low-slung pony tail and her signature liner-flicked eyes completed the look. So, whose look comes out top? Both ladies look exceptionally polished in their own ways, but we’re going to give this one to…wait for it…Alexa! Surprised? Well, Lea’s look may be the prim way to do a floral-print dress, but Alexa brings a certain daytime quality to her look; we can imagine styling it this way for the office, but we’d swap the salmon coloured bag for a teeny black shoulder bag. Thoughts? Whose look are you diggin’? [Images: Lea; Alexa]
Read MoreBrandy vs. Nicki Minaj…Who wore Alexander McQueen better?
One dress, two girls. Yep, you know the drill. This week, at fashion loggerheads are singers Nicki Minaj and Brandy, who recently stepped out in an identical, black Alexander McQueen gown, from the spring 2014 collection. Featuring a cut-out design around the waist area, and a strap running across the top of the chest, the figure-skimming gown made for a demure evening look. First up to take to the red carpet in the gown was Brandy, when she attended the 45th NAACP Awards Non-Televised Awards Ceremony back in February. Opting for sleek tresses and minimal accessories – save for a clutch and cocktail ring – Brandy rounded of her look with strong evening-glam eyes and strappy sandals. But catching up with Brandy in the race for gown glory was rap queen Nicki Minaj, who wore the same look to the Billboard Awards earlier this month. Having recently debuted a more subdued side to her over-the-top Barbie persona, the singer gave us a very sultry red carpet look. Retro waves, two wrist cuffs and statement earrings provided the perfect finishing touches to Ms. Minaj’s most un-Barbie look, whilst make-up was kept extremely subtle. The one standout ‘feature,’ we have to say, was the clever display of underboob that peeped out from under the cut-out detail. Well, it’s Nicki… So, whose look takes the trophy this week? We’re giving this one to…Nicki! Everything, from the muted accessories to the expert flash of cleavage, works for this look. Surprising, we know, but Nicki’s nailed this one without taking it into trashy territory. Brandy looks great, too, but the look just doesn’t scream “WOW!” on her. Agree with our style verdict? Whose look wins for you [Images: Brandy; Nicki]
Read MoreRita Ora vs. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley…Who wore Gucci better?
Carrying off a Gucci number takes some skill; not only do you have to peak at glamazon levels, but everything down to the last accessory and stray hair strand matters! Making us pick between them this week, in the same Gucci gown, are Rita Ora and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Both ladies took to their respective red carpets in this stunning black spring 2014 halter gown, with baby pink embellishment. Gucci looks always deiver the dare-to-bare factor, and there was plenty of that around with this look! First up to slip into the gown was Rosie, who wore it to the LACMA Art + Film Gala back in November 2013. Like a pro, the statuesque model let the gown do all the show-stopping, by keeping accessories and make-up pared down and hair swept away from her face. Catching up with Ms. H-W was another Brit. Singer Rita Ora put her own spin on the glam gown, when she made an appearance in it at the Weinstein company’s Post-BAFTA party back in February. Featuring her signature tousled bob and bright red lip, the ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ singer added her usual lashings of accessories. So, who wins in this war of the gowns? We’re giving this one to…wait for it…Rosie! This gown calls for a minimalist approach to styling, and Rita’s extra accessories and loud lip are unnecessary add-ons. Rosie owns this one by a fair few style miles. Agree? [Images: Rita; Rosie]
Read MoreZooey Deschanel vs. Taylor Swift…Who wore Tommy Hilfiger better?
A frock-off between two ladies who know their way around a good dress is no small task, and this week, looking equally fantastic in the same dress, are Zooey Deschanel and Taylor Swift. Wearing a polka dot-print dress from Zooey’s 16-piece capsule collection for Tommy Hilfiger, both Taylor and the lady designer herself put their personal spin on the dress – ultimately making our task of choosing the best look even tougher! Back in April, Zooey attended the ‘To Tommy, From Zooey’ launch at Macy’s in New York and, naturally, she was modelling her collection. The New Girl star completed her look with sheer tights, pointed pumps and her signature bangs. A slick of white polish on the nails and liner-rimmed eyes rounded off the look. Second in line to sport the dress was Taylor Swift, who was spotted leaving the gym in New York looking her usual, prim-and-proper self. Pairing the dress with a bow-detail belt, lady-like bag and Mary Janes, Taylor continued the accessory party with Ray Ban wayfarers and a headband. A slick of coral on the lips added an uplifting dash of colour. So, who wins? Although we’d love to say the designer stole the show, ‘twas sadly not the case this time. We’re totally diggin’ Taylor’s effort to up the prettifying ante with a whole load of accessories; Zooey’s look just seems too ‘tried-and-tested!’ Sorry, Jess Z! Agree with our style verdict? [Images: Zooey; Taylor]
Read MoreHeidi Klum vs. Iman…Who wore Michael Kors better?
What do you do when two [super]-duper models turn up in the same dress? Luckily it wasn’t to the same event, but this week, models Iman and Heidi Klum have got us in a same dress-induced tizzy. First up: Heidi, who wore an earthy brown belted dress from the Michael Kors spring/summer 2014 collection, to the Hollywood Stands Up To Cancer event back in January. Featuring a billowy blouse and pleated skirt, the dress sported two rather daring slits—one displaying an ample amount of cleavage, the other bringing some thigh-high action! Accessorising with strappy sandals, a wide waisted belt and soft curls; dark eyes and neutral make-up rounded up Heidi’s look. Catching up with the Germany’s Next Top Model judge in the style stakes is a supermodel that needs no surname for her introduction: Iman! The stunning runway veteran attended the Variety Power of Women New York luncheon, in April, wearing the same dress. Iman, too, accessorised her look with open toe sandals and a matching clutch; but it was her glossy caramel locks we couldn’t quite keep our eyes off! Equally stunning, both Heidi and Iman brought their A-game to this frock-off. But, sadly, there can only be one winner, and this week we’re going with…Iman! Heidi, you look a million dollars, but remember the boobs vs. thigh rule? It’s one or the other, not both! Iman’s demure approach wins this time. Do you agree with out style verdict? Whose look wins for you? [Images: Heidi; Iman]
Read MoreKaty Perry vs. Brandy…Who wore Fausto Puglisi better?
Two top songstresses. One dress. Yes, you know the drill. This week, in a rather colourful Fausto Puglisi ensemble, Katy Perry and singer Brandy are battling it out in the fashion stakes. Wearing a colourblock skirt and bell-sleeved top; the ladies cinched in their waists with a black waistband, creating the perfect hourglass silhouette. Slipping into this super-bright combo first was Katy Perry, who attended the pre-Grammy brunch way back in 2o12 in said look. Sporting a wacky blue bob and Charlotte Olympia piano heels; Katy went for a smattering of hand accessories to dress up her look. Heavily done-up eyes and a pop of pink lip colour rounded of the look nicely. But, catching up with the Unconditional singer was also another singer, Brandy, who wore the same outfit to the Haunted House 2 premiere, a few weeks ago. Opting for leopard print Gucci heels and a Solange Knowles-inspired, tightly curled hairdo; Brandy rounded off her look with super simple make up and a winning smile. So, who takes the style crown this week? We love both looks, but we’re going to give this one to Brandy! Her easy styling keeps all eyes on the attention-grabbing dress, whereby Katy’s look is screaming ‘LOOK AT ME!’ in too many places at once. Do you agree? Whose look wins for you? [Images: Katy; Brandy]
Read MoreEllie Goulding vs. Blake Lively…Who wore Balmain better?
The nifty LBD never fails to impress with its versatile ways: elevating a simple look to award-worthy heights, and being one of the easiest wardrobe staples to take from day to night; you won’t be stuck for options. And, impressing the hell out of us this week in their respective LBDs are Ellie Goulding and Blake Lively, who both wore the same Balmain number nearly five years apart! Cast your mind back to September 2009, when Blake Lively gave this sequined number its first outing at the HBO post-Emmy Awards party. Playing up its glistening embellishment and exaggerated shoulders to full effect, Blake paired the dress with Jimmy Choo sandals and emerald hued earrings. Slicked back hair, neutral make-up and a healthy glow topped off her look with perfection. Giving the dress its second outing was Ellie Goulding, who struck a red carpet pose at the L.A. premiere of Divergent, back in March. Opting for open hair and natural make-up, the singer showed off the dress’s plunging neckline with aplomb. Matching Christian Louboutin pumps completed Ellie’s relaxed-glam look. So, who scores the hottest LBD wearer award? Both ladies brought their A-game and looked super-hot in their respective looks, but Blake steals the show for us. The dress’s strong silhouette demands a fuss-free approach to styling and Ellie’s long locks unnecessarily conceal the statement shoulder detail. We’re Team Slicked Back, all the way! Whose look wins for you? [Images: Ellie; Blake]
Read MoreEmma Roberts vs. Kate Upton…Who wore Fendi better?
Vying for our attention this week, in two red-hot (literally) looks, are Emma Roberts and Kate Upton, who both sported a striking red mini dress from the Fendi spring 2014 collection. The gorgeous dress features a motif-style print, with a fitted waist and subtle statement shoulder; marking it as the perfect LRD (Little Red Dress) in our books. And getting first dibs on this pretty number was Emma Roberts, who opted for said dress at the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar party. Going all matchy-matchy on us, Emma paired the dress with red Brian Atwood pumps, a crimson red lip and a perfectly textured, sharply side-parted bob. A silver mini box clutch and delicate-looking cocktail jewellery completed the look. But catching up with Julia Roberts’ niece in the style stakes was Kate Upton, who took to the red carpet for the German premiere of her latest movie, The Other Woman, at Mathaeser Filmpalast in Munich, last week. Fifties-inspired pin-up rolls, red lips and strong eyes perfectly rounded off Kate’s look, while she opted for nude pumps and went bag-free. So, whose look wins for you? Both ladies clearly brought their A-game, but we’re going with Emma on this one! Instead of being too much, her all-red approach is actually a winning combination. After all, given her Hollywood credentials, we wouldn’t expect anything less! [Images: Emma; Kate]
Read MoreKate vs. Diana…Who wore red better during the New Zealand tour?
Wore what: Kicking off their royal tour of New Zealand, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge landed at Wellington airport’s military terminal yesterday – cutest babe-cessory in tow – looking every inch, well, regal. For the official occasion, Kate chose a striking red Catherine Walker coatdress and matching pillbox hat, and the media was quick to remind everyone of the same occasion, over three decades ago, when the late Princess Diana chose a similar look for the same event. Although hers was a black and red look, complete with a contrasting black clutch, Kate wins for the most adorable royal accessory, hands down. Narrowly avoiding puddles before the world’s media, whilst effortlessly carrying an excited 9-month-old in your arms is no mean feat; and we think Kate did a beyond fantastic job! Unsurprisingly though, this makes the job of choosing a winning look near impossible! Who wins: Famed for her gentle nature and beauty that shied away, Princess Diana’s look for the official visit back in 1983 was a fashion triumph: making coats cool as the centrepiece of a look. And this is a tradition that Kate, too, has carried on. From her M Missoni look as a wedding guest to the Maxmara number named after her; she’s elevated the humble coat’s status to party staple so effortlessly, we all want in. Given her respectful ode to Diana’s legendary wardrobe at such an important event, and the fact that we’re struggling to get over the explosive levels of Prince George’s cuteness; we declare both looks as winners. Do you have a favourite look, or are you, too, stuck on both? [Images: Duchess of Cambridge; Princess Diana]
Read MoreVanessa Hudgens vs. Mindy Kaling…Who wore Topshop better?
We love spotting a high street ensemble on the red carpet, and this week’s frock-off war comes courtesy of two A-list darlings in our favourite high street store’s garms. Vanessa Hudgens and Mindy Kaling were recently spotted in an emerald green Topshop jacquard skirt and crop top look, with both ladies opting to style it very differently. Vanessa landed first dibs on the gorgeous evening look, wearing it to promote her film Gimme Shelter at the Sirius XM Studios back in January. Vanessa paired the crop top and longer midi skirt with simple black pumps and a stack of pretty rings, while tumbling curls, a soft, smoky eye and a slick of berry red on the nails completed the look. Competing for the style prize in a slightly modified version of the same outfit is Mindy Kaling, who opted for a shorter length skirt at the The Paley Center for Media’s Paley Fest 2014 event last week. Peep toe Louboutin pumps, glossy curls and evening perfect eye make-up rounded off the look nicely. So, whose look wins in the style stakes? We love the varied hemlines, and feel Mindy’s shortened skirt length works better to create a mote flattering silhouette; the look runs too ‘straight’ on Vanessa. Seems like the crown’s yours for the taking this week, Ms. Kaling! Whose look wins for you? [Images: Vanessa; Mindy)
Read MoreJourdan Dunn vs. Anna Dello Russo…Who wore Moschino better?
This week’s dress-off has pulled in two major fashion players, both of whom know how to leave their well-dressed imprints on our style-saturated minds. Upping the glam factor during Fashion Month, as per usual, was Anna Dello Russo – the high priestess of unabashed, high end fashion that says nothing of a tamed approach to dressing in the morning. Sporting autumn/winter ‘14’s biggest parody of fast fashion – the ‘Over 20 Billion Served’ McDonald’s sweatshirt, masterminded by Jeremy Scott at Moschino – during Milan Fashion Week, ADR gave us (and the flurry of street style photogs) pure, unadulterated viewing pleasure. Wearing it as a dress, she accessorised with a matching quilted bag, featuring the symbolic Golden Arches; a woollen scarf and lace-up booties. The matching phone cover certifies this look as Dello Russo down to a T. But, putting a slightly more pared back spin on this brash runway number was Brit babe Jourdan Dunn, who opted to take a much more NYC approach with her styling. Tempering the loudness of the sweat with all-black staples; a leather mini skirt, shearling coat, trusty tote and Balenciaga cut-out boots completed the look. Perfect. So, who deserves to be crowned the sartorial queen in this war of wonderful wares? Given there’s a world of difference between the styles of these two fashion queens; we’re sticking with our slick style guns on this and awarding Jourdan the accolade. Anna’s power dressing prowess never fails to excite, but Jourdan’s effortless ease makes her look a lot more wearable. You go, girl. [Images: Jourdan; Anna]
Read MoreRihanna vs. Keira Knightley…Who wore Chanel better?
Being a Paris Fashion Week stalwart, the hype and excitement surrounding Kaiser Karl’s seasonal offerings at Chanel knows no bounds. So, naturally, we expect nothing short of a super-stellar front row attendance, too Involved in a fierce frock-off this week are Keira Knightley and Rihanna, and you know it doesn’t get more bring-your-A-game than this pair of Chanel darlings. Arriving at the autumn/winter 2014 show in Paris, both ladies rocked waist-accentuating numbers, making it pretty damn difficult to pick between the two! Although she’s clarified that she won’t repeat-wear her Chanel wedding dress, Keira Knightley still brought all the ‘double C’ charm to the front row. Dressed in a monochromatic cropped dress, her tiny waist made for the main attraction, beautifully accompanied by pointed gold pumps and a teensy chain-strap Chanel bag, natch. But, intent on stealing the show (as always), Rihanna bumped up the chic levels in a lilac dress of similar style. Bringing her own brand of quirk to the look, RiRi mixed it up with matching bum bag and the shoe-cessory du jour: sneakers. Rounding off her look were retro-inspired cat-eye sunglasses and an oversized pearl bracelet. So, whose look is worthy of stealing the front row Queen (C) Bee crown? Tough one, isn’t it? Given both ladies subscribe to completely opposite schools of style, we can’t forget Mr. Lagerfeld encourages a pretty-gone-hyper-cool approach to fashion. So, inevitably, Mademoiselle RiRi takes the style crown this week. Whose look wins for you? [Images: Rihanna; Keira]
Read MoreMel B vs. Joanna Krupa…Who wore Walter Mendez better?
One dress. Two girls. Yeah, you know the rest! This week’s duo are contending for our attention on a very same-but-different level. Both Mel B and actress Joanna Krupa recently wore a stunning Walter Mendez creation, on the same day (yes, really), to different Oscars parties, and now were pretty badly stuck for choice! Attending Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Oscar viewing party in a rather risqué look was Mel B, who sported a hand-beaded, mermaid-bottom gown with nude mesh cut-outs. Smoky eyes, a slick of black on the nails and a very deep neckline completed this daring look, while hair was slicked back to perfection Taking to the Fame and Philanthropy post-Oscar party on the same night was actress Joanna Krupa, who opted for a more demure version of Mel B’s gown. With ample cleavage on display, Joanna opted out of leg-flashing, instead opting for a wispy up-do and subtle make-up. So, although the looks were pretty similar, who wins in the style stakes? We’re going to have to give this one to…Joanna! The less-is-more approach clearly didn’t work this time, Mel; we’re diggin’ Joanna’s more refined red carpet effort. Do you agree? [Images: Mel B; Joanna Krupa]
Read MorePaloma Faith vs. Sandra Bullock…Who wore Burberry Prorsum better?
It seems that some recent Burberry lovin’ has called for a cross-Atlantic (fashun) war, as Paloma Faith and Sandra Bullock donned an identical, pre-fall 2013, top-to-toe look by the heritage British fashion house. First to sport the t-shirt and skirt ensemble was Sandra, who perfected the refined-yet-rockier approach to red carpet dressing at the BAFTA LA 2014 Awards Season tea party, back in January. Wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with iconic London landmarks atop a dark emerald green, knee-length skirt, Sandra looked every inch Hollywood royalty – sans the stuffy dress. Smoky eyes to compliment the evening-perfect skirt, a jewelled statement necklace and simple black pumps completed the look. Opting to go hands-free, Sandra rounded off her outfit with a nifty shoulder bag. But giving the Heat actress a run for her money was singer, actress and all-round-cool-girl, Paloma Faith, who arrived at the Burberry Prorsum autumn/winter 2014 show in the same look, earlier this month. But, being a front row favourite – she also performed at the show- comes with its pressures, and Paloma opted to add a touch of personal quirk to her look. Pairing a maroon hat with matching coat over her outfit, her standout mane, dark red lips and feline-flick eyeliner added the perfect final touches. Black pumps and a bold pose finished the look nicely. But, being a style stand-off, there can only be one winner; and this week, we’re going with…Paloma! Thanks to that topper and coat combo, the Brit babe topped our list and rocked Prorsum like a pro. We’re totally diggin’ Sandra’s gritty, uptown look, but she could’ve done without that dated shoulder bag. Whose look wins for you? [Images: Paloma; Sandra]
Read MoreAtlanta de Cadenet vs. Allison Williams…Who wore Valentino better?
Another week, another dress double-up. And don’t we just love to weigh in on a one dress, two girls kinda situation! This week, making us look twice (and hard) is DJ and model, Atlanta De Cadenet, and Girls star Allison Williams (yes, Marnie). Both ladies slipped into a stunning Valentino autumn/winter 2013 dress and, it’s safe to say, we were equally bowled over. Giving the thigh-grazing white number its first outing was Allison, who took to the red carpet at the 2013 MTV Music Awards looking resplendent. Pairing the embellished lace dress with simple black Louboutin pumps, enviable pins, strong eyes and a softly sweeping up-do, that beaming smile sealed the deal. But then, chasing Allison to the winning post was Atlanta de Cadenet, who sat pretty front row at the Valentino spring/summer 2014 show in Paris wearing the same dress. The super-hip daughter of Amanda de Cadenet gave us a punch of colour to go with the angelic white dress in the form of a crimson lip and killer red, strappy Valentino pumps. A glowing complexion, loosely tied back hair and box clutch completed the look. But, who wins in the style stakes this week? We’re going to ditch the prim and proper approach with a Valentino dress and go with Atlanta on this one. One thing a white dress desperately needs is a dash of eye-opening colour, and that Atlanta certainly did well. Although she looks great, Allison’s look just came off a little too vanilla for our liking. What are you thoughts? Whose look wins for you? [Images: Zimbio]
Read MoreOlivia Wilde vs. Kara Tointon…Who wore Clover Canyon better?
Hey, look! It’s another instalment of two girls, one dress, and we’re pretty darn excited about it! Splitting the style brigade at HQ this week are actresses Olivia Wilde and Kara Tointon (she, of Eastenders) in an eye-catching, resort 2014 Clover Canyon dress. Getting first dibs on the Cuban-inspired collection was Olivia Wilde, who wore said dress to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 2013 Installation Luncheon, in August last year. Flying the flag high for head turning print, Olivia completed her look with matching parrot green heels and clutch, and opted for super-simple make-up with a subtly volumised up-do. Catching up with the eternally chic Ms. Wilde is Kara Tointon, who wore the same dress to InStyle magazine’s The Best of British Talent pre-BAFTA party, last week. Opting to go accessory-free; Kara rounded off her look with punchy turquoise pumps, bold red lips and a swept back bouffant hairstyle. So, who takes the style crown this week? Although both ladies brought their own, we’re going with Olivia on this one. The pairing of tropical green accessories against the gorgeous dress works wonders, and even lets Olivia’s near washed-out complexion off the hook. We love Kara’s look, but the ancient hairstyle and lack of accessories give off an unfinished vibe. Agree with our style verdict? Whose look wins for you? [Images: Olivia; Kara]
Read MoreKelly Rowland vs. Jordin Sparks…Who wore Torn by Ronny Kobo better?
It really throws us at HQ, the way one dress can look so completely different styled on two people. And this week, dividing opinion are two ladies in a simple, curve-skimming number. Enter Kelly Rowland and Jordin Sparks in the Torn by Ronny Kobo Moira dress. Both sporting perfect bodies – and vocals – naturally we had to weigh in. First up to slip in to the white mock turtle neck dress was Kelly, who took to the X Factor stage late last year in said dress. Paired with a tiered necklace and ankle-strap dolly shows, Kelly opted for mid-parted bangs and long, glossy locks to complete her look. But, giving the leggy crooner a run for her money was Jordin Sparks, who was a vision of voluptuous perfection at the Welcome to New York Red, White and Black Super Bowl party last week. Opting for a slicked back high ponytail, minimal make-up and matching white pumps, sleek earrings and a winning smile effortlessly rounded off the look. So, who topped the style poll this week? Sorry Kelly, but we’re crowning Jordin victorious! Kelly’s attempt to add interest to the simple dress went a bit overboard, as the open hair, fussy necklace and high neckline all appear a little try hard when put together. Although simple, Jordin’s look is impactful, and we’re all for head-turning minimalism! Whose look wins for you? [Images: Kelly; Jordin]
Read MoreJennifer Hudson vs. Chloë Moretz…who wore Christopher Kane better?
Remember this Christopher Kane beauty we brought you? Well, when we saw two of our favourite A-listers sporting the very same dress, naturally we had to weigh in on this sartorial situation. Jennifer Hudson and Chloë Moretz stepped out in the same Christopher Kane bandage dress, albeit weeks apart, and to a very different effect. A riot of colour against a form-fitting black dress makes for easy-on-the-eye style, hence making our decision to pick a winner even tougher! Chloë got first dibs on said dress, wearing it to the Teen Choice Awards back in August, and even landing a spot on our Best Dressed list! Styled with a wispy down-do and ankle-strap sandals, minimal make-up completed the look. Jennifer attended Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy party last week in the dress, completing her look with a red box clutch, bold lips, black pumps and a texturised pixie cut. Major hair love going out to you, Jen! But, as it’s a frock-off there can only be one winner….and, this week, we’re once again crowing glorious the uber-talented (and stylish) Chloe! Safe to say, this dress hardly needs any help stealing attention, and Jennifer’s accessorising efforts are a little wasted on her look. Agree with our style verdict? Whose look wins for you? Read MoreKelly Rowland vs. Kate Bosworth…Who wore Balmain better?
Two ladies. One blingin’ dress. You know the drill. This week’s fash-off comes courtesy of leggy lovely, Kelly Rowland and Hollywood darling Kate Bosworth. Both ladies were spotted in the same Balmain Fall 2013 dress, albeit with very different style results. Although a top, thanks to the oversize fit, Kate was the first one to turn this embellished showstopper into a dress, at the 2013 Met Gala. Unlike the runway look, Kate went with bare legs, a gold belt to cinch the waist and simple black pumps. A small black clutch and strong eyeliner completed the look nicely. But catching up with Kate in the style stakes was X Factor judge Kelly Rowland, who styled the same dress differently for an appearance on season three of the American show, last year. Pairing the top-cum-dress with nothing other than white Tom Ford pumps and her voluminous locks, Kelly rocked a killer pose, as she posted the outfit on Instagram. But, seeing as it’s a fash-off, there can only be one winner, so we’re going to slip the first style crown of 2014 onto Kate’s head! There isn’t much that Kelly can’t 100 per cent rock, but we love Kate’s accessories, and feel the belt does wonders to frame her petite shape. Definitely a striking, and memorable look from 2013! Whose look wins for you? [Images: Kelly; Kate]
Read MoreKelly Rowland vs. Tess Daly…Who wore Emilio Pucci better?
Given it’s the heightened season of the LBD, we thought we’d pay homage to our favourite wardrobe classic with a frock-off! Dividing opinion this week in a form-fitting Fall 2012 Emilio Pucci dress is Tess Daly and Kelly Rowland, who both rocked the same dress to different events. First to slink into the dress was statuesque beauty Kelly Rowland, who took to the BET Honors red carpet, back in January. Sporting a curly do with strong eye makeup, Kelly paired the side slit LBD with black pumps and a true Hollywood smile. But catching up with Kelly in the style stakes was Tess Daly, who wore said dress to the Pride of Britain awards in October. Tess opted to accessorise with a large clutch and metallic gold pointed pumps. Safe to stay, her side swept glossy curls stole the show with this look, but the neutral makeup balanced out any 80s vibes! However, being a frock-off means one champ, and one champ only…and this week, our vote goes to Brit beauty Tess Daly. Although, both Kelly and Tess’s hairdos do all the, erm, talking, we like how Tess has lifted her look with subtle-yet-strong accessories. Those gold pumps and legs for days win hands down. Whose look wins for you? [Images: Kelly; Tess]
Read MoreEllie Goulding vs. Peaches Geldof…Who wore Dolce & Gabbana better?
OK, you know the drill. One dress, two girls, and a whole lotta fashion bitchin’! Giving us fashion for thought this week are Ellie Goulding and Peaches Geldof, who recently stepped out in the same Dolce & Gabbana gown. First to step into the gown was Peaches, taking to red carpet at the London premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, last month. With her scraped back into a wispy updo, a slick of red on the lips and a chain strap shoulder bag to accessorise, Peaches brings her signature causal cool to this sexy red carpet look. But giving Peaches a run for her red carpet style was Ellie Goulding, or appeared at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards last week, in the same gown. Opting to go with her classic look of tousled hair worn down, and very neutral makeup, Ellie kept things pretty simple, accessorising only with some small earrings. So, whose look takes the crown? Both ladies brought their own to this gorgeous look, but, for us, Peaches wins by an few style miles! Her choice to team the look with a colourful lip was on point, and the updo does justice to the strapless bustier detail of the dress. Naturally, she brings a grittier edge to the look. Ellie looks great, too, but the simple makeup and soft blonde locks have a draining effect. We’re not Starry Eyed this time, Ellie… Agree with our fash-off verdict? Whose look wins for you? [Images: Ellie; Peaches]
Read MoreKirsten Dunst vs. Laura Bailey…Who wore Christian Dior better?
We don’t really recall a time, when a pink gown has failed to lift our spirits no end. And, at HQ this morning, we’re digging the shocking pinks of seasons past, or, more precisely, Kirsten Dunst and Laura Bailey in a fuschia Christian Dior pre-fall 2012 gown. Stepping out in the same striking gown, both Kirsten and Laura looked equally outstanding, even though they sported said look more than a year apart! Kirsten gave the gown its debut outing at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of On the Road, back in May 2012. Accessorising with a bejewelled minaudiere and statement earrings, her makeup was soft, hair curled and a black belt added the perfect, accentuating touch to bring the look together. But, giving the leading lady of Hollywood a run for her money was Laura Bailey, who wore the same gown to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition preview party, held in London, in June of this year. Opting to go belt-free, Laura added drop earrings, a black clutch and sunglasses to her look, whilst a wispy updo and neutral make-up provided the finishing touches. Have you decided on a fash-off winner? For the sheer, red carpet knockout effect of her look, we’re crowning Kirsten Dunst as this week’s stylish victor. Her overall polished look feels perfect for the high profile event she was attending, whereas Laura’s oversized sunnies are a little misplaced with her look. Agree with out style verdict? Another week, another frock-off between the stars! This week, we’re dissecting one of the more delicate trends taking the red carpet by storm – the sheer dress. Bella Thorne and Kasey Musgraves recently stepped out in the same sheer spring 2014 Blumarine dress, and, well, we had to comment! Kacey was the first to give the beautifully whimsical dress its red carpet debut at the CMA Awards, earlier this month. Styled with a nude crystal clutch and her tumbling locks worn in glossy curls, the singer looked every inch like red carpet royalty. Second in line to slip into the Blumarine dress was actress Bella Thorne, who wore said dress to the Los Angeles premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Opting to go accessory-free, Bella styled her hair in a braided updo with loose, face-framing tendrils, and soft make-up. Sheer dresses are challenge to pull off, as they can be draining on the wearer’s complexion, but how well did these ladies fare? Given the sweet nature of the dress, were totally digging Bella’s complementary hair style, but there’s something about Kasey’s glossy curls and clutch that finish off her look with finesse, so she takes this week’s fash-off champ title! Agree with our style verdict? Whose look do you prefer?
Read MoreAnna Dello Russo vs. Lily Collins…Who wore Givenchy better?
Along with ‘It’ bags and must-have heels, cult sweatshirts and jumpers have gained serious traction in the past months. From the Kenzo eye sweater to Brian Lichtenberg’s collection of ‘Homies’ imprinted beanies and tops, logo mania has well and truly taken over. And now, this week’s fash-off contenders, Anna Dello Russo and Lily Collins, are also doing their bit for branding by sporting the same sell-out Givenchy Bambi print jumper – at the same event! Attending the spring/summer 2014 Givenchy runway show in Paris, the editor famed for taking “fashion showers” was spotted outside the show venue, aptly in said sweater. Needing no introduction to the camera, Anna Dello Russo teamed hers with a waist-cinching belt, black clutch and statement ankle boots. But, not too far away (on the opposite side of the front row, we presume), Lily Collins was also wearing the same printed sweater, albeit with a very un-ADR spin. Going for more glam goth than golden glamazon, Lily went with a sheeny vampish lip, black ankle strap sandals and matching clutch. A selection of bracelets gave the final finishing touch. So, who wins in the battle of the Bambis? Oh, we do love you ADR, but that tan and accessory overkill just isn’t working for us. Fashion shower detox, maybe? Lily, you’ve got this one hands down. Agree with our style verdict? Whose look wins for you? Tell us in the comments section below! Givenchy Bambi and female form print jumper, £853.51, available at Barneys. [Image: Anna; Lily]
Read MoreAlyssa Milano vs. Coco Rocha…Who wore Peter Pilotto better?
A Peter Pilotto dress on the red carpet guarantees two things: a riot of print and colour. And this week’s fash-off candidates certainly didn’t disappoint there! Coco Rocha and Alyssa Milano were recently spotted wearing the Peter Pilotto ‘Farah’ dress, and both did a great job of putting their personal stamp on it. Alyssa took to the Project Runway All Stars Season 3 premiere party in said dress, back in October. Opting for the black version, Alyssa styled the look with a soft updo, earrings and simple black pumps. Given the strong, shrug-style shoulder detail and flattering, front-split detail, we don’t think her look needed much else. But, upstaging the actress by several style miles was model Coco Rocha, who wore the red version of the ‘Farah’ dress to Melbourne Cup Day, earlier this month. The Australian equivalent of Royal Ascot presented the gorgeous model with ample opportunity to get decked out, and judging by that OTT fascinator, she sure did! Completing her look were black pumps and a statement clutch. So, who takes the prize for best frock? Well, as much as her look shocked us, it delighted in equal measure, so Coco Rocha takes the crown this week! The dress looks striking in both colours, but Coco’s extravagant styling has, in this instance, won us over. Agree with our fash-off verdict? Share your thoughts below!

A one-gown-two-girls situation has presented itself once again, so we couldn’t let the chance of a fash-off slip our hands! This week, Dita Von Teese and actress Minka Kelly have us in awe of their matching Caroline Herrera Fall 2013 red carpet gowns, and, boy did the ladies do well. First to slip into the gorgeous, deep purple floral lace gown was Minka, who took to the Met Gala red carpet back in May, looking every bit show-stopping. Channelling the Gala’s punk theme best she could, Minka opted for a braided updo, accented perfectly with a dark lip, and finished with a waist-cinching belt to match. But giving Minka a run for her style cred was Dita Von Teese, who appeared in the same gown at Wallis Annenberg Centre For The Performing Arts Inaugural Gala, last month. Styled with her signature Fifties pin-up hair and a deep red lip, Dita carried a matching clutch and added the waist-cinching belt to her look, too. So, both ladies carried off the same stunning gown with aplomb, but being a fash-off, there can only be one winner… After winning our hearts for the second time around – she made it into our Met Gala red carpet roundup – we’re crowning Minka Kelly this fash-off’s champ. Dita’s look is faultless, too, but the recognisable hair and make-up makes it feel a little ‘samey’. Agree with our style verdict? Whose look wins for you? [Images: Minka; Dita]
Read MoreKim Kardashian vs. Jennifer Hudson…Who Wore Donna Karan Better?
Dressed to perfection in the same silhouette-defining Donna Karan dress, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Hudson have forced our eyes to become fixated on their picture perfect figures! Stepping out after visiting the DASH store in West Hollywood earlier this month, Kim looked every inch the queen of perfect curves in the draped plunging-neckline dress. Accessorised with her lighter locks and suede courts in soft caramel, Kim was a vision of off-duty perfection with a polished edge. But giving one half of Kimye serious competition was red carpet regular, Jennifer Hudson, who also wore the Donna Karen dress earlier this month, to the Chicago International Film Festival premiere of The Inevitable Defeat Of Mister And Pete. Although Kim went in for the kill with a little cleavage display, Jennifer firmly buttoned up, accessorising with black ankle strap sandals, tumbling glossy curls and strong eyes. Truth be told, we love both Jen and Kim in this Donna Karan number, but being a Who Wore It Better contest, there can only be one winner. And this week, we’re firmly placing the crown on Kim’s head! We’re all for a flash of demure décolletage, and those soft-toned heels had us at hello! Jennifer looks great, too, but the look is pretty simple for a red carpet affair, and Kim’s styling brings a little edge to what is essentially an easy day dress. Agree with our fash-off verdict? Read MoreDame Helen Mirren vs. Rita Ora…Who wore Dolce & Gabbana better?
Another week, another frock-off worth dissecting! This week, two ladies at opposite ends of the style spectrum pulled of the same Dolce & Gabbana gown with such aplomb, our jaws dropped below our knees in awe. Dame Helen Mirren and Rita Ora stepped out, at different events, of course, in a red lace Dolce & Gabbana dress, otherwise known as a sure-fire sartorial hit. Rita got first dibs on the dress, as she wore it to perform in Las Vegas last month, whilst Dame Helen opted to wear it last week, at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong’s 50th Anniversary Gala. Stylistically, both Rita and Dame Helen are pole opposites – although both do love to dabble in fun fashion every so often – and this showed in their individual looks. Whilst Dame Helen opted to wear the red lace number atop a full-length white silk slip, Rita went for a slightly more risqué look, covering up underneath with a black bodysuit. Dame Helen’s soft long crop looked elegant against the striking gown, and, although we think it wasn’t really necessary, wearing the crucifix necklace as a cummerbund is pure jewellery genius! Completing the look were matching crucifix earrings. Rita’s not one to shy away from experimenting with her wardrobe, and vamping up otherwise traditional red carpet looks is what she does best. In her element with this look, she opted for sleek, side-parted hair; crucifix earrings and matching necklace, and her signature crimson pout. Although we think both Rita and Dame Helen nailed Lady In Red style, Dame Helen takes the prize for this one. She looks poised, yet she’s unafraid to break free from the stereotypical style rut often associated with senior figures in Hollywood: the perfect balance between demure and daring. We love it! Whose look wins for […]
Read MoreDakota Fanning vs. Olivia Wilde…Who wore A.L.C. better?
This week’s fash-off is quite the monochrome style match. With Dakota Fanning in white and Olivia Wilde in black, both ladies donned the A.L.C. Petra dress months apart, complete with head turning effect. First up to slip into the form-flattering dress was Olivia Wilde, who took the classic LBD route on the red carpet at the For the Love of Cinema event at the Tribeca Film Festival, back in April. Accessorising with a black clutch and Tabitha Simmons Dee sandals, neutral make-up and softly tousled hair nicely rounded off Olivia’s look. But giving the gorgeous Hollywood darling a run for her money was Dakota Fanning, who went with the white version at last month’s Festival du Film International of Rio de Janeiro. Sleek hair and barely-there make-up was on offer, whilst an unexpected flash of colour was delivered courtesy of deep red, patent-leather Christian Louboutin Iriza pumps. So, whose look will be victorious in securing this week’s coveted title of style champion? Given our penchant for LBDs, we’d love to say Olivia, but, a twist on a clean look is just as welcome. Therefore, we duly crown Dakota this week’s winner – especially when it comes to playing down the angelic tones of a white look. Those red Loubs has us at hello! Agree with our style verdict? Tell us your thoughts below. [Images: Olivia; Dakota]
Read MoreRita Ora vs. Ciara…Who wore Emilio Pucci better?
We can always expect dresses with serious style bite to stride down the Emilio Pucci runway. And this week’s Who Wore it Better contestants are battling it out in a dress by none other than Mr. Peter Dundas – a man who knows how to make maximum impact with minimum length. Parading their gorgeous bods in a striking, barqoue-print studded mini dress this week are Rita Ora and Ciara, who both wore the same dress from the autumn/winter 2013 collection, albeit months apart. First up, Rita Ora slipped into the printed mini at the Chime for Change after party back in June. Pairing the dress with Casadei gladiator heels; her icy blonde barnet was styled into a retro-inspired, curly up do, accented by strong brows and her signature red lip. But giving the dress its second outing was Ciara, who wore it to the Emilio Pucci store opening on Avenue Montaigne during Paris Fashion Week. Replicating the runway look, Ciara wore the dress with over-the-knee boots, keeping her hair and makeup pretty subdued. Now, who to choose as this week’s fash-off champ? Well, given both ladies put their personal spin on the dress, we’ve fallen head over boots in love with Ciara’s take on the runway piece. Neutral makeup, Frenchie bed head hair and THOSE boots are true winners for us, putting Rita’s more is more approach firmly in the no-no pile. Agree with our style verdict? Let us know your thoughts below.
Read MoreSienna Miller vs. Isla Fisher…Who wore Dolce & Gabbana better?
We challenge you to track down a dress by the Dolce boys that fails to send hearts aflutter! The latest two ladies, one dress situation making us swoon over lashings of signature lace and floral print comes courtesy of red carpet darlings Sienna Miller and Isla Fisher. First up to slip into the pretty-sexy gown was Isla Fisher, who took to the red carpet for the world premiere of The Great Gatsby back in May. Accessorising with a Roger Vivier clutch and her trademark strawberry blonde barnet, swept elegantly to one side; a slick of red on the lips completed Isla’s stunning look. But catching up in the style stakes was Brit lady Sienna Miller, who sported a midi version of the same gown to celebrate The Global Fun at the Aspley House, last month. Carrying a leopard print box clutch, and ditching heels for pointed slingback flats, Sienna’s look was topped of with nude makeup, and her famed mussed up glossy hair, worn casually down. So, whose look is a winner? The gown-cum-dress in question is quite an eye-pleasing creation to stare at all day long, but we’re going to give the style cred to Isla on this one. There’s something sensuous about the longer length, and we love Isla’s overall styling. But Sienna’s flat shoe choice lets the whole dress down, and we all know a sexy Dolce number always needs standout heels to accompany it! Agree with our style verdict? Whose look do you prefer? Tell us your thoughts below. [Images: Zimbio]
Read MoreTaylor Swift vs. Heidi Klum…Who wore Kaufmanfranco better?
One dress, two women and a hoo-haa about who sauntered around in it more tastefully; welcome to our latest fash-off instalment, featuring a ‘bitter’ ex-girlfriend and a leggy model. OK, for fear of being too cryptic, we’ll reveal the deets: we spotted Taylor Swift and Heidi Klum in the same Kaufmanfranco spring 2013 dress, and we couldn’t help but level up the two beauties when it came to fashion cred. Kicking off 2013 at the 40 Principales Music Awards in Madrid, Taylor Swift took to the blue red carpet in said dress. Pairing it with Christian Louboutin Dufoura heels, a cocktail ring and her statement bangs, Swifty looked gorgeous in the thigh grazing number, sexed up with a deep illusion neckline. But going in for the kill was stunner Heidi Klum, who made a printed red carpet appearance for America’s Got Talent in the same dress. Opting for a swept back updo with face-framing tendrils; hoop earrings and Louboutin ankle-tie sandals finished off the look nicely. But whose look is a winner, we hear you say? Sizing up the style potential, we’re going with the never ending pins on this one – Heidi takes the crown! Although Taylor looks polished as ever, Heidi’s look is a little more ‘red carpet relaxed’ (yeah, that does exist), and those heels, winning. Agree with our dress-off verdict? [Images: Zimbio]
Read MoreNicole Richie vs. Kourtney Kardashian…Who wore Stella McCartney better?
Although monochrome originally set our hearts aflutter for spring/summer 2013, when our peepers landed on this week’s fash-off contestants, we once again gasped in awe! The sheer beauty of a vertical zebra crossing-esque print in a dress is enough to get the dialogue going at MFL HQ, and that’s why we’ve picked Nicole Richie and not-far-from-a-camera Kourtney Kardashian as this week’s Who Wore it Best candidates, in a stunning, striped Stella McCartney number. First up, Nicole Richie took to the front row at Paris Fashion Week back in March, when she wore the striped A-line dress to the Stella McCartney autumn/winter 2013 show. Looking radiant as ever; Nicole completed her look with a relaxed shoulder-length bob and simple black pumps. But catching up in the style race was Kourtney Kardashian, who hasn’t been on our style radar for the right reasons, lately! Kourtney attended the extravagant, Alice In Wonderland themed 16th birthday bash for fellow sibling, Kylie Jenner, in August, sporting said dress. Accessorising with a fancy featured headpiece, fingerless gloves (very Kaiser Karl) and cross-strap platform heels, she rounded the look off with a bright red lip. With such a bold dress, and two very different looks, it’s a tough one to choose between this week, but we’re going to go with Nicole on this one! We get it: Kourtney’s channelling an upscale Tweedledee/dum in a dress (sorry, Kourt!), but it’s literally too fancy dress for us. Skip the OTT gloves and headpiece, and she’s got a winner on her hands (pardon the pun). Nicole’s fuss-free styling and glossy locks win by a strong style mile. Agree with our verdict? Tell us your thoughts below. [Images: Nicole; Kourtney]
Read MoreNicole Scherzinger vs. Mollie King…Who wore Three Floor better?
‘Scuse the pun, if you will, but a jumpsuit really makes us, well, jump for joy! And the prospect of setting up a careful jumpsuit-off between two very gorgeous ladies excites us even more. This week’s sartorial showdown comes courtesy of raven-haired beauty, Nicole Scherzinger, and crooning Brit beauty with the infectious smile, Mollie ‘Sats’ King. Both ladies took to two very different events in the same Three Floor jumpsuit, and, naturally, we were onto them like Kim K to a new endorsement deal! (Love you really, Kim) Now, we’ve already waxed lyrical about Scherzy’s red carpet look at this year’s X Factor launch. Sporting red heels, an enviable glow and possibly the best curled locks in town, she looked pretty darn perfect! Adding an extra lift with a slick of sunshine yellow on her nails, the gorgeous judge definitely hinted at who’s boss in the style stakes for X Factor 2013. But only a few days before Nicole slipped into said jumpsuit, Mollie King attended the European premiere of We’re The Millers in the same look. Completing her look with a black waisted belt, matching heels and gold-tone accessories, Mollie looked super-confident, smiling radiantly for the paps. Her signature, centre-parted blonde locks we’re hair ad ready, as always! So who are we betting on this week, you ask? We say Nicole takes this one by many a style mile! OK, so we may be a teeny bit biased, given Scherzy had us at hello when we previously raved about her look, but Mollie played it too safe with dark accessories. Nicole’s accessory-free colour pops are too good to dismiss. Agree with our fash-off verdict? Tell us your thoughts below! [Image]
Read MoreHeidi Klum vs. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley…Who wore Michael Kors better?
Pre-fall dresses are ferociously doing the rounds and this week’s gorgeous duo knocked us for six in a stunning Michael Kors number. Sporting the same look, leggy lovely, Heidi Klum and glossy-locked beauty Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are battling it out in a form-fitting, pre-fall 2013 strapless pencil dress. Showing off to full effect their equally enviable bods, the models put their own spin on the pretty dress. Getting first dibs was Rosie H-W, who attended a dinner hosted by Vogue in honour of Michael Kors, back in April. Styling said dress with a thin black belt and white pumps, Rosie opted to finish the look with tumbling curls and a (knockout) berry-hued pout. But giving Mr. Statham’s beau a run for her money was Heidi Klum, who wore the same dress for an appearance on the America’s Got Talent red carpet in July. Heidi paired the leaf-print dress with Jimmy Choo Jada sandals, statement earrings, a cocktail ring and a metal clasp belt. With both ladies making it near impossible to choose between them (have you seen those never ending pins?!), it’s a challenge. But there can only be one champion in this frock-off, and this week we’re going with…Rosie! Opting to recreate the runway look, Rosie’s look is simple yet striking. It looks ‘put together’ without trying too hard, whereas Heidi’s clashing accessory overload is too much against the print-saturated dress. Without the heavy belt, she would’ve nailed it. Agree with our fash-off verdict? Whose look do you prefer?
Read MoreGwyneth Paltrow vs. Rose Byrne…Who wore Erdem better?
Ah, a floral ensemble we do love! Nothing beats the usual summery thrill associated with slipping into a sartorially acceptable bouquet, but this week’s fash off contenders make the case for winter florals all the more stronger. Sporting a same-but-different look from Erdem’s blooming floral-printed autumn/winter 2013 offerings, A-listers Gwyneth Paltrow and Rose Byrne took to appearing at red carpet events with the sole intention of turning quite a few heads. (naturally) First up, Gwyneth took to the Iron Man 3 Paris premiere red carpet, back in April, in the matching, sharp shouldered floral-printed top and trouser ensemble. The lithe limbed Hollywood royal looked radiant, with straightened glossy locks and neutral makeup, allowing her flowery look to take centre stage. But looking equally bloomin’ gorgeous was I Give It A Year starlet, Rose Byrne, who attended a special screening of the film in New York in July, wearing the dress version of Gwyneth’s look. The pretty frock features black chiffon inserts and chiffon overlay on the skirt, which suitably amps up the darker mood of her look to perfection. Pointed pumps, soft curls and nude make-up rounded off Rose’s look nicely. Although it’s a tough one, as the different takes on the same base print are equally desirable, there can only be one winner. And this week, we’re crowning…*drum roll, please*…Rose Byrne our fash-off champion, because we love the moody edge her otherwise twee dress exudes. Gwyneth’s look is striking, too, but a bit too much to take in at once. Do you agree with our verdict? Whose look do you like?
Read MorePaloma Faith vs. Rita Ora…Who wore Diane von Furstenberg better?
In the battle of gorgeous gowns this week, we have the eccentrically charming and sartorially accomplished Paloma Faith, going head to head with Jay Z’s favourite protégée this side of the pond, Rita Ora. Both rocking a Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2013 sequined gown, there was some serious shimmering action to take in, and we weren’t about to let this fash-off slip from our style radar! Paloma Faith wowed at T in the Park last month, as she took to the stage in said dress. In true Paloma style, she adorned the look with an over-the-top floral headpiece and matching Steve Madden platform pumps. But beating the 30 Minute Love Affair singer to donning the Diane von Furstenberg beauty was Rita Ora, who debuted the look at the Brit Awards nominations announcement back in January. Pairing the gorgeous gown with nude pumps, a soft lip and a slick of crimson on the nails, she certainly nailed the look (pardon the pun!) Picking a winner sure isn’t an easy task, especially when both contenders look this great, but we had to settle on a favourite…and this week, we’re going with the crooner guilty of serious style, Paloma! The look-at-me headpiece, retro-inspired hairdo and sky high heels all add interest to the mono-coloured gown. Rita’s look, on the other hand, is a bit too tonal for our liking. What say you? Whose look was a winner for you?
Read MoreBella Thorne vs. Jada Pinkett-Smith…Who wore Blumarine better?
In the battle of the dresses this week, rising style star, Bella Thorne, and fashion veteran Jada Pinkett-Smith both sport a dreamy Blumarine dress from the fall 2013 collection. Featuring stripes woven into a delicate floral print, the dress – which is surprisingly light and airy for an autumn/winter offering – isn’t any old simple thigh-skimming number. The asymmetrically draped skirt adds interest to the look, and both Bella and Jada chose to up the glam ante with statement accessories, no doubt. First up to slip into the gorgeous little number was Mrs. Will Smith, who wore the dress to the New York premiere of her husband and son starrer, After Earth, back in June. Jada accessorised the dress with a candy pink Jimmy Choo ‘Cosma’ clutch and Azzedine Alaïa strappy sandals, whilst hair was left down in glossy curls and make up was kept very neutral, to complement the soft tones of the dress. But catching up with Jada in the style race was Bella Thorne, who attended the Planes LA premiere wearing the same dress. Bringing an eye-popping twist to her pretty outfit, Bella slipped into a pair of fizzy green Bionda Castana Conseulo pumps, and finishing off her look was a hair-matched braid and soft pink lip. But who has claim to the fash-off throne? It’s a difficult decision this week, given both Bella and Jada look summer-perfect in their respective looks, but we’ve got to (reluctantly) pick a single winner…and this week, we’re going with Bella! Jada looks impeccably polished as always, but Bella’s look brings something different – she definitely made us look twice! Pastel hues paired with popping brights spell perfection when it comes to bringing an alternative edge to a red carpet look, and Bella hit the (sartorial) nail on the head. Agree […]
Read MoreMaggie Gyllenhaal vs. Demi Lovato…Who wore Isabel Marant better?
With everyone jetting off to sun-splashed vacation spots, and thanks to the partial heatwave we’ve become comfortably accustomed to, here in Blighty, it’s no surprise pretty summer dresses are on the up! And this week’s fash-off is no exception: Maggie Gyllenhaal and Demi Lovato grace our eyes in the gorgeous Isabel Marant ‘Samuel’ dress, reminding us just why we love boho-inspired summer style so much. Maggie was the first to step out in the ‘Samuel’ dress back in April, when she attended the Sundance Institute Theatre Program Benefit in New York. Pairing the balloon-sleeved, paisley-print dress – which is subtly nipped in at the waist with a tasselled leather belt – with a red lip and midi heels, Maggie is the vision of how we want to look, strolling lazily through sleepy holiday cities. Going up against Maggie in the style stakes is Demi Lovato, as she took to The X Factor LA auditions in the same dress. Attending the auditions with fellow judges Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland, Demi opted for a braided updo, ankle-strap Schutz pumps and a simple black leather belt to complete her look. A billowy summer dress can throw us when it comes to picking our favourite look, but this week’s fash-off winner by far is…Maggie Gyllenhaal! We love the summer-perfect vibe her look exudes, and that cropped haircut is deal sealer! Demi looks great, too, but the pushed-up belt and sharp pumps bring a harsh edge to what should be a softer look. Which look wins for you?
Read MoreKris Jenner vs. Kirsten Dunst…Who wore Dolce & Gabbana better?
A summer-perfect, striped dress is the subject of this week’s fash-off, and we’re pretty darn excited about it! Hollywood darling Kirsten Dunst and matriarch of the Kardashian (k)lan, Kris Jenner, are at style loggerheads this week, as the pair battle it out in a gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana number. Sporting the same zebra crossing stripe dress from the SS13 collection, both ladies brought a very look to the table. Getting runway-fresh dibs on said dress was Ms. Dunst, who wore it last year to promote her film Bachelorette in New York. Adding a pop of colour with a yellow belt, whilst cleverly cinching the waist at once, Kirsten accessorized with simple black pumps, bright lips and cat-eye sunglasses. But battling to upstage the actress was momager and all-round paparazzi pro, Kris Jenner. Stepping out after lunch in New York earlier this month, Kris took a very First Lady approach to wearing the same dress, by slipping a black cardigan over it. Accessorising with a Valentino Rouge Rockstud clutch and matching heels, Kris was the vision of luxe lunchtime chic – something we’ve become accustomed to, given the Kardashians’ penchant for eating out in pricey, off-duty duds. So who are we crowing this week’s fash-off champ, you ask? Well, given Kris and Kirsten were attending very different events; we’re going to stick with Kirsten on this one. Hers is an easy look, thank to the simple accessories, whereas Kris’s look – although fiercely stylish – is too much for a lunch date! Do you agree with our fash-off verdict?
Read MoreParis Hilton vs. Miranda Kerr…Who wore Topshop better?
Championing the humble high street this week are two ladies more accustomed to the high end world. Super-stunner, Miranda Kerr, and scene –stealing (in many ways) socialite Paris Hilton both stepped out in the same printed Topshop maxi skirt, and we couldn’t resist a fash-off! Totally digging every high street hit we can land our peepers on, let’s begin with Miranda – the queen of all things dressed down and cool. OK, so she may be on par with Jessica Alba when it comes to a stellar off-duty wardrobe, but we can safely say we can’t stop ogling Mrs. Bloom’s radiant complexion and off-runway style antics. Nothing short of perfect with every relaxed ensemble, Miranda pulled this maxi-vest dress look off with aplomb, as she styles it with a simple, halter-neck style black vest, flat T-bar sandals and her beloved Givenchy Antigona tote. Face-framing sunnies and flowing glossy locks, not to mention an adorable toddler, polished off the look with perfection. Stepping out in the same skirt, Paris Hilton took to the sandy beaches of Malibu on the very same day! A sucker for girly style, Ms. Hilton opted to pair the budget skirt, which features a leg-flashing side split, with a deep v-neck, cut-out detail bodycon top (which we assume is a swimsuit). Paris finished off her look by accessorising with oversized sunnies, flat pumps and a beach tote. So, whose look is a firm winner? Well, both ladies put their individual style stamps on the high street skirt, but we’re sticking with Aussie beauty Miranda on this one! By adding black to the mix, Miranda has toughened up the whimsy feel of the skirt, whilst Paris’s look appears a little ‘all over the place.’ Do you agree with our fash-off verdict?
Read MoreWho wore Jaeger better…Mollie King vs. Caroline Flack?
Keeping it super-casual this week, we’re taking a little break from red carpet power looks and, instead, giving the high street a chance at taking part in a fash-off war. Stepping in out in the same Jaeger leopard print coat recently, were two Brit babes who regularly make the headlines for their individual style. Mollie King and Caroline Flack, both famed for their polished and preppy-meets-quirky preferences, respectively, sported the high street cover-up just a day apart! Ms. Flack was the first to step out in the £275 ovoid coat at Glastonbury, back in June. Teaming the stylish cover up with a white shirt, wide brim fedora hat, black shorts, ankle boots and oversized sunnies, she brought a fresh twist to festival dressing. Second in line was Mollie King, who was spotted in the same coat on her way to the KISS FM studios in London, earlier this month. Mollie styled the coat with a LBD, tan pumps and matching Aspinal ‘Barbarella’ bag. Rayban wayfarers completed her look. So, whose look’s a winner? It’s a tough one, because both ladies effortlessly put their personal stamp on the chic coat, but we’re going with the ever-polished Mollie King on this one. Flackers, we love you, but those rolled up sleeves just won’t cut it! Do you agree?
Read MoreWho wore Victoria Beckham better…Victoria Beckham vs. Naomi Watts?
We’re guessing you’ve already made up your mind looking at the title of this fash-off, but hang with it – you may just be surprised! We’re pretty sure no one pulls of VB designs quite like the lady herself (what better way to promote your clothes?), but for this week’s fash-off, Hollywood A-lister, Naomi Watts fancied pitching her fashion cards against the sartorially superiors Mrs. Beckham. Attending the Take Home a Nude Benefit Art Auction at Sotheby’s in October last year, Naomi Watts wore a Victoria Beckham Fall 2012 dress. The form fitting number featured a matching maroon collar and cuffs, and the look was competed with Christian Louboutin peep-toe heels and a Valentino Rockstud shoulder bag. Now, if you’ve been keeping on top of Victoria Beckham’s global trotting, you’ll know she was in China recently, for the launch of her fashion line at Lane Crawford in Beijing. Appearing on Chinese national television with husband David, Victoria slipped into a red version of the same dress – clearly knowing how spellbound it’s had fashion lovers since debuting on the catwalk two RTW season ago. VB teamed the dress with black Casadei pumps and a wispy ponytail, flashing a faint smile as she appeared on television screens across the country. But who wins? Well, we’ve come to understand that Victoria Beckham is her own best model, and this time round, she’s effortlessly done it again! Although the dress looks fab, Naomi’s choice of similarly-hued accessories wash out the entire look, but everything about Victoria’s look screams perfection. Can this woman do no wrong? Who do you think wore Victoria Beckham better?

Stripes, in all their vertical and horizontal glory, were the sartorial story of spring/summer 2013. Be it the classic Breton courtesy of Mr. Gaultier, or the kookier take on prison wear that Michael Kors turned du jour overnight – stripes firmly marked out their territory in our wardrobes this season. And it seems the A-listers weren’t immune to the stripe-over, either. Battling it out in a two-piece ensemble from Michael Kors’ spring/summer 2013 collection this week are two modelling veterans who never put a stylish foot wrong, (naturally). Yasmin le Bon wore said ensemble to this year’s sell-out Vogue Festival, where she was aptly hosting with the designer himself. Opting for a longer top, Yasmin completed her look with pointy black pumps and slicked back hair. But beating Yasmin to it was another runway doyenne, Dutch stunner Doutzen Kroes, who opted for the same outfit only a few days earlier, when she attended the Michael Kors and United Nations World Food Programme dinner. Styling her look with Michael Kors accessories, Doutzen opted for the cropped top, happily flashing her enviably toned midriff. Swept back hair and a radiant glow completed the look. Now it’s no easy task picking between two stunning models, both of whom look equally striking in the same outfit! But there can only be one victorious fashionista, and this week we’re going with Doutzen. The slice of midriff and accessories nicely break up this otherwise overpowering-on-the-eye look, and works well with the dangerous (read: unflattering) territory horizontal stripes fall in to! Yasmin works her look well, but the longer top makes the outfit appear too busy. Agree with out style verdict? Whose look wins for you? [Images: Zimbio]

It’s a frock-off between two painfully stylish divas this week, and a serious one at that. Checking in, in a pop-yer-eyes-out, curve-skimming sequined Tom Ford spring/summer 2011 gown this week is the diva of all divas, J-Lo, and strikingly beautiful Brit model, Liberty Ross. Dazzling at the 4th Annual amfAR Inspiration Gala in New York earlier this month, Jennifer Lopez looked a disco ball vision (in a good way, of course!) in the stunning sequined gown. Oozing sexy glamour, the gown took to Jen’s famed curves like a glove, as the superstar opted for a slicked-back ponytail and neutral makeup. Finishing off her gorgeous look was a black python clutch and Harry Winston jewels. However, quicker than Ms. Divalicous was home-grown beauty, Liberty Ross, who donned the same Tom Ford gown back in May last year, when she attend the UK premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman. Liberty’s look screams elegant-with-a-gothic-slant, thanks to the dark berry lips, dark nail polish and deep-parted bun. Although she’s more narrow-framed than Jen, Liberty’s stunning features and tall frame bring the game to the red carpet. But whose look wins the fash-off title for you? It’s a difficult one for us to decide on, as both ladies look breathtaking, but being the appreciators of curves that we are, we’re sticking with J-Lo on this one. Nothing sits better on an enviable frame like Jen’s than a form-fitting Tom Ford creation! Whose look was a winner for you? [Images: Zimbio]

Oh, how we do love a frock-off! With A-lister’s battling it out to get first dibs on designer collections as soon as they hit the runway, we’re always excited to see who wears it first, and better still, who looks the best! At fashion loggerheads this week are Kylie Minogue and Vanessa Hudgens, as both ladies battle it out in a gorgeously summery, Moschino Resort 2013 dress. First up to slip into the pretty ruffled coral number was Vanessa Hudgens, who opted to wear it to the Variety’s 6th Annual Power of Youth Event last September. Opting for a centre-parted wispy up do and tan YSL pumps, Vanessa kept her makeup fresh, with a slick of gloss on the lips and kohl-rimmed eyes. Also taking to the red carpet for the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, held in London on June 5, was Kylie Minogue, who opted for said dress, but gave us a very different look. We’re digging the strong accessorising: metallic peep-toe heels and heavy cuffs to add a tough edge to the frothy dress, and love how relaxed Kylie looks. But who wore it better? Sorry V, but we’re going with Kylie on this one. Although Vanessa’s look works for day, the YSL pumps are too chunky against such a soft dress, and don’t do much to lift her look. Kylie got it bang on by introducing block coloured jewellery into her look, but still managed to look party-ready in those heels. Whose look wins for you?

Fash-offs, to a certain extent, can be seen as form of fashion recycling. As soon as a celebrity is out of a particular look, another’s already jumped into it, ready to put their own spin on it. This week’s fash-off is quite an interesting case of fashion recycling, and one we couldn’t wait to include in a frock-off! Looking striking in Givenchy Couture, Rooney Mara made quite the entrance at this year’s punk themed Met Gala, in a white lace dress from the Fall 2010 Couture collection. But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this near-angelic look on the red carpet. Penelope Cruz gave said dress its first outing back in 2011, when she wore it to the London premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Penelope went down the vanilla route when it came to her entire look, opting for sleek hair and a box clutch. On the other hand, Rooney had a touch of the rebellious Lisbeth Salander about her look – which was slightly modified to add lace inserts at the shoulders – going with a dark lip and slicked back hair; almost sinful (pardon the pun) in comparison to Penelope’s angelic take on things. Whose look do you prefer? We’re going with Rooney’s suitably harder look on this one.

Ah, the arrival of summer can only mean a flurry of envy-inducing, bod-hugging dresses that leave us wondering why we cancelled that gym membership. But then again, we could just forget about the ab crunches and instead talk about this week’s ensuing fash-off between two dress doyennes. In the battle of the dresses this week, both Nicole Scherzinger and Louise Roe took a liking to the Mara Hoffman shield print maxi dress, and gave us two very stylish looks. Scherzy stepped out in the Mara Hoffman maxi in Monaco, to support beau Lewis Hamilton at the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix. Making the most of the glorious sunshine, Nicole styled the dress with studded flat sandals, oversized sunnies and a classic Hermès Kelly bag. Beating Hamilton’s missus to it was Louise Roe, who sported the very same dress to the Rolling Stone magazine American Music Awards VIP after party, back in November 2012. Bringing a splash of print to the red carpet, Ms. Roe styled her look with a nude box clutch and statement earrings. But whose look takes the prize? Although both ladies styled the shield print maxi dress to perfection for the events they were attending; we’re giving this week’s fash-off champ title to…Nicole Scherzinger! We’re a little sensitive to the wintry climes at present, and anything that reminds us of an easy, breezy holiday wardrobe is a winner. Nicole’s look is perfect for a sun splashed outdoor event, and although Louise looked fab, too, the pretty print and summery colour is wasted on the red carpet. Do you agree?
