Paris Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Balmain, Lanvin, Roland Mouret and more!

It’s all been hotting up in Paris these past 24 hours, with brand spanking new spring/summer 2015 collections from the likes of Lanvin, Roland Mouret, Nina Ricci and Balmain being the reasons why. Alber Elbaz celebrated Lanvin’s 125th anniversary with an outstanding collection that paid homage to the French fashion House’s history but stayed in tune with the modern woman at the same time too. If anyone can do it, Alber Elbaz can! The Balmain show might just be one of the most star-studded ones we’ve seen so far thanks to its mixture of A-list FROWers and catwalk models. Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Joan Smalls and Kendall Jenner were just a few of the famous model faces strutting their stuff in Olivier Rousteing’s designs, while the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner and Kanye West all sat pretty on the front row to take in the new season pieces with an unrestricted view. And speaking of those new season pieces – it was all about the laser cut, check print, summer brights, and skin. Lots of skin was on show thanks to the bralets, sexy short-hemmed dresses, cut-out detailing and low necklines. Roland Mouret’s latest outing was just as sharp and en-vogue as ever; the perfect wardrobe for the professional woman on a tropical getaway. Asymmetric silhouettes, bright colourways, sharp collars – everything we love about Roland Mouret with a chic but relaxed twist. The young celebs will be all over this collection for their red carpet premiere outings, you mark our words. Here are the rest of our Paris Fashion Week highlights: Balmain Roland Mouret Lanvin Nina Ricci

Selena Gomez is the epitome of sophistication in Lanvin

Woah – Selena Gomez, is that you? While fellow Disney Channel starlet Miley Cyrus is going on foul-mouthed tirades at G.A.Y in London, Selena Gomez is going in the completely opposite direction and looking the epitome of class and sophistication. The former Wizards of Waverley Place actress looked like a breath of fresh and elegant air as she attended the American Ballet Theatre 2014 Opening Night Spring Gala last night. She wore a strapless knee-length black dress from the Lanvin spring/summer 2014 collection, which came complete with cute satin bow detailing on the side. Her sleek straight locks worked perfectly alongside the dress and the natural make-up. Plus, we love how she didn’t go for accessory over-kill, and just added some simple but oh so sparkly Lorraine Schwartz jewels to her sleek and sophisticated look. Disney stars wanting to be taken seriously, take note: this is how to show the world that you’ve grown up in a mature way! [Images]

Ashley Madekwe is luscious in Lanvin

Ashley Madekwe seldom fails to impress on a red carpet, as she stays true to herself and has own distinctive style that she sticks to, so we weren’t at all surprised to find ourselves completely enamoured with her latest look. The Revenge starlet attended the Foundation for Living Beauty event in Beverly Hills along with some other famous and fabulously dressed faces over the weekend,  and looked absolutely stunning while doing so. As the event was sponsored by Lanvin, the majority of the guests were fully kitted out in the French brand’s pieces, and Ashley Madekwe was no exception. Ashley wore a gorgeous navy blue structured skirt, and teamed it with a bold green strapless top that offset the skirt perfectly. Her blue eyeshadow complemented the tones of her outfit wonderfully, and her side-swept hair was the perfect choice. Age appropriate, contemporary, un-distracting, and generally quite flawless. Lara Stone in Lanvin for Harper’s Bazaar US April

It’s nice to see Lara Stone gracing the fashion glossy covers once again, with her latest one coming courtesy of the Harper’s Bazaar US April issue. And what a beautiful cover image it is! The Dutch supermodel was shot by Daniel Jackson and styled by Julia von Boehm, and is rocking a gorgeous Lanvin creation and a fiercer than fierce stare on the cover. Lara isn’t just a pretty face, as she really opens up to the mag about accepting the fact that she’s turning 30, her alcoholism, and her obsession with a certain tabloid newspaper’s website… “I’m obsessed with the Daily Mail’s website,” she said. “David [Walliams, her husband] and I have been on it a few times, and I will read things about us that are completely bullshit. But I’m convinced that everything about everyone else is true! “Once, there was only one comment: ‘Looks like a duck’. That was it. To take the time out of your life to say I look like a duck? That’s brilliant.” We’re glad Lara is in good spirits about the comments; we would be too if we knew that we were a gorgeous supermodel! You can read the rest of Lara’s interview and see more of her pics in the Harper’s Bazaar US April issue.

Paris Fashion Week AW14 highlights from Lanvin, Balmain, Balenciaga & more

The celebs were out in force for the third day of Paris Fashion Week – and we don’t just mean on the front rows! Some of the most in-demand supermodels walked the runway for some of the biggest fashion designers in the world. Here are our highlights from the latest goings on at Paris Fashion Week: LANVIN AW14 Rihanna joined Emma Roberts and other such famous faces to witness the Lanvin autumn/winter 2014 collection first-hand; we’re not jealous at all, honest! Alber Elbaz presented a versatile yet somewhat experimental collection this time around – we believe his exact words were Experimental, Extravagant and Extreme – ensuring that fur and ruffles played a huge part in his light and fluffy new season range. Asymmetric silhouettes and Chanel inspired tweed also made an appearance. The silk dresses were a refreshingly new yet reassuringly familiar addition to the collection, adding the signature Lanvin elegance to the proceedings. Red carpet faves, for sure! NINA RICCI AW14 Jessica Alba watched the Nina Ricci autumn/winter 2014 collection from her comfy seat in the front row, which has got us pretty excited as we imagine what new-season pieces she will be wearing over the next few months as she goes about her daily business or rocks up on a red carpet. Sparkling, shimmering eveningwear was the highlight of the collection, with the designer not being shy of an embellishment or two. Or six. Wool skirt suits, chic jackets, cosy cashmere jumpers, and much more! BALMAIN AW14 Although there were a lot of big faces on the Balmain front row – did we mention Rihanna was one of the schlebs sitting pretty on the FROW? – some of the world’s biggest and hottest models of the moment walked the show too. It was a star-studded affair all round, […]

Rooney Mara takes our breath away in white Lanvin dress

Oh look it’s Rooney Mara in yet another white dress. If you hadn’t seen the picture above, we would forgive you for rolling your eyes at the sentence above, but this isn’t just any old white dress. We know Rooney Mara likes to stick to a strict black or white colour palette when it comes to the red carpet, which is why her looks can sometimes get a bit predictable and monotonous. However, we have nothing but high praise for the outfit she wore to the Oxfam Charity Gala Dubai International Film Festival. The white structured floor-length Lanvin dress she wore on the red carpet was sensational – we’ve never really seen a look that has literally taken our breath away… until now. The dress – which was custom made especially for her – is all about juxtaposition, which is something that Rooney has nailed. Hard and soft, night and day, subtle yet dramatic – it’s all there! The barely-there make-up, tight bun in her hair and deep lipstick finished the look off wonderfully. Perfection personified!

Paris Fashion Week SS14 highlights from Balmain, Lanvin, Nina Ricci & more

There was a lot of action in Paris yesterday, as spring/summer 2014 collections from Balmain, Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Balenciaga and Paco Rabanne hit the catwalks. Rosie Huntington Whiteley lent a helping hand to Balmain, as she closed the show in a beautiful sheer number which undoubtedly got all the red blooded males in the audience very excited. There was a lot less razzmatazz in the new-season collection; a conscious decision made by Olivier Rousteing who said that he wanted to see what the stereotypical Balmain girl (who loves her some eveningwear and partywear) looked like at 9 in the morning. A great concept – and one that we would definitely get on board with. Balmain for breakfast sounds like a great idea to us! Alber Elbaz made it all about the shine factor over at Lanvin, as models came out in shiny, mirrored garments – some of whom did so while carrying what looked like bin bags. Bin day has never been more glamorous! Reflection was also a very prominent theme on the Balenciaga catwalk, as models strutted up and down the runway with mirrors surrounding them – capturing their each and every move from a variety of angles. There was no chance of missing one of Alexander Wang’s creations with the mirrors there! The Balenciaga girl is a tad more sporty, active and casual this season. Kate Bosworth ladylike in Lanvin for The Edit

Kate Bosworth is gracing the front of The Edit’s latest issue – and grace really is a key word as she looks ladylike, elegant, and well, graceful! Kate proves that she is a style chameleon and a dream for all red carpet designers to dress as she rocks every single outfit she is given – from Victoria Beckham to Gucci to Dolce and Gabbana and more! She also opens up about a number of topic too, including her relationship with her step-daughter, her evolving personal style, and of course, choosing a designer for her wedding dress… “There was no doubt about the designer,” she began, referring to Oscar de la Renta who she has asked to create her gown. But there was a feeling of, ‘Do I dance around the bridal thing and wear a dress I could wear for the red carpet?’ But lately I’m all about coming out of my comfort zone and challenging myself, so I decided to embrace the moment. It has been a real discovery of that part of myself.” You can read more in Net a Porter’s The Edit.

Kate Upton is luscious in Lanvin for Elle US September issue

Well what d’ya know – Kate Upton is officially a September issue cover girl! We said it before and we’ll say it again – 2013 is definitely her year! So far this year she’s covered both UK and US versions of the fashion Bible, posed for a series of ad campaigns, and now she can cross coveted September cover girl off her list too! Kate and her flawless curves can be seen in a stunning red Lanvin dress for the cover image of Elle US September shot by Carter Smith, but her editorial and interview are just as powerful. Inside the mag, Kate talks dating, Sports Illustrated, and the “dumb blonde” perception she says some people have of her… “People deal with models like they are children,” she said. “They think they can pull one over on you. It’s actually funny. I’m always like, I’m about to pull something on you, and you’re so focused on thinking I’m dumb you’re not even going to know.” Ooo, sneaky! You can read the rest of Ms Upton’s juicy interview in the September issue of Elle US. Click here for more cheeky snippets.

Carey Mulligan rocks Lanvin for Great Gatsby world premiere

All eyes were on Carey Mulligan last night, as the actress attended the world premiere of The Great Gatsby in New York. Seeing as Miuccia Prada designed no less than 40 pieces for the Baz Luhrmann film, we would have bet quite a hefty sum of money that the leading lady would be wearing a Prada or Miu Miu number, but she surprised everyone by opting to wear Lanvin instead. What do you think of her decision? Yes, it’s a bit of a shock, but we can see why she went for the red hot Lanvin piece – Carey looks absolutely sensational. Carey’s minimal look is worlds away from her styling in the film; instead of adding a chunky or sparkly necklace or bracelet to her look, the actress kept all accessories to a minimum, letting the dress do all the talking. It’s an unexpected look and as much as we love it, we are kind of hoping to see some more glamour and sparkle for some of the other premieres. What say you?

Miley Cyrus braless and rocking Lanvin for Elle UK June

The first of the June glossy covers has landed, and we’re pretty chuffed to learn that 20-year-old former Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus has bagged the Elle UK June cover. We don’t know what’s going on in Miley and Liam Hemsworth’s are they/aren’t they relationship, but there’s one thing we do know: Liam will definitely be kicking himself if he and his former fiancée have in fact gone their separate ways once he sees these pics. Miley was shot by Jan Welters for the Elle UK June issue, and is the epitome of punk princess in a silk Lanvin jacket and Saint Laurent pendant for the newsstand cover. As fierce as the cover image is though, there’s something about the soft, vulnerable shot used on the subscriber’s edition which is making us practically salivate. Elle UK’s June issue goes on sale on May 1st, so make sure you get to the newsagent early to grab your copy!

Lanvin Enamelled Resin Perfume Show Clutch: Yay or Nay?

Accessories by the French fashion house, Lanvin, are the epitome of unadulterated glamour. Pricey, luxurious and with real season-transcending value, Lanvin’s super-statement jewels and hand-held box clutches are an A-list favourite, with everyone from J-Lo to Emma Stone and Demi Moore die-hard fans. So when our peepers landed on this week’s Yay or Nay piece, it’s safe to say we were more than enthralled – and not just by the price tag! Capturing the essence (pardon the pun) of the Parisians’ flair for fashion, the Enamelled Resin Perfume Show Clutch is a lesson in bags that scream wow. No one ever said high fashion was going to be particularly practical, and judging by the form the Perfume Clutch takes (yep, you guessed it!), and its eyeball-popping price tag of a whopping £2,075, we won’t blame you for spending A LOT of time in pre-purchase contemplation. To help you decide whether to shell out or steer clear of this Lanvin beauty, we’ve weighed up the pros and cons below. Will you or won’t you? YAY Collectible: It’s one of those accessory purchases you just cannot bring yourself to use, and we don’t blame you. The plexiglass exterior and delicious gold coloured metal hardware makes us want to stare at it, rather than stuff it with makeup! Visual appeal: The perfume bottle silhouette and pretty detail set the Perfume Show Clutch apart as conversation starter, for sure. Minaudiere trend: A continuation of the fashion house’s knack for creating desirable cigarette box minaudieres, the Perfume Show Clutch is ideal if you want hand candy to accent an evening outfit, but don’t want to sport a massive clutch bag. NAY Impractical size: If you’re one to justify extreme handbag expenditure with how much bag space you’re actually getting, then the Perfume Clutch isn’t worth investing in. […]

Minnie Mouse gets a mature Lanvin makeover

Minnie Mouse has swapped polka dots for jewels as our favourite Disney girl has been given a gorgeous new look courtesy of Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz. The  bejewelled blue hourglass gown was unveiled to the public at a catwalk show in Disneyland Paris over the weekend… what do you think? “Walt Disney was the one that actually designed Minnie,” Alber Elbaz said after the show. “It’s the first time an actual designer has come into the picture and designed a dress for her. “It was a great challenge and responsibility to do. I just wanted her to shine… I wanted to give her a crown in red, and the dress in blue, (a signature) for Lanvin.” Well, we certainly give it the MFL seal of approval! This isn’t the first time Minnie Mouse has been given a makeover though. Remember last’s year’s size 0 controversy that came with the Barneys New York window display? We don’t think her new look will ruffle quite as many feathers now that Minnie’s famous curves are back! Paris Fashion Week AW13 highlights from Balenciaga, Balmain, Lanvin, H&M and more

Another day in Paris and another host of top designers debuting their autumn/winter 2013 collections on the French catwalks. There have been quite a few first these past 24 hours too, in the form of H&M’s first runway show in eight years, as well as Alexander Wang’s highly anticipated debut collection for Balenciaga. Mr Wang proved that he was indeed the right man for the coveted job, juxtaposing and balancing the creations more commonly found in his eponymous label with those of Balenciaga quite flawlessly. The high street has been more prominent this Fashion Month than ever before (Rihanna for River Island, Whistles, Topshop Unique to name just a few) and we’re hoping that H&M will see how successful the show has been and continue to present its collections in Paris. We’d prefer London, but we won’t be too fussy as we’re just glad it’s getting a Fashion Month outing at all! There was plenty of sparkle, as well as some big shoulders, bold lines, vivid colours and exaggerated structured  silhouettes at Balmain – one of our PFW highlights every season – while Mugler opted for a much softer and subtler approach to drama than usual. As always, Alber Elbaz presented a chic and clean collection for Lanvin, while Gareth Pugh took the term “haunting” to new depths. Take a look at the highlights below: H&M Balmain  Mugler Lanvin Gareth Pugh

Lanvin Cotton Tweed Jacket: Yay or Nay?

Every Chanel aficionado will know the value of the luxury fashion house’s famed tweed jackets. Timeless, classic and a truly goes-with-everything piece, the tweed jacket has become somewhat of permanent fixture in most discerning fashionistas’ wardrobes. But with perennially chic black being the choice of colour for most tweed jacket lovers, we couldn’t help but break away from the rules when our eyes landed on this bright version! An eye-opening colourful cocktail of yellow, tonal taupe and chartreuse, the Lanvin cotton tweed jacket boasts an edgier vibe, with fringed trims and a slightly cropped length, and would go perfectly with a block colour summer outfit – very Riviera chic! But going crazy with a classic – especially when it comes to a investing your hard earned pounds in an spectrum straying colour can be a difficult fashion thought to swallow, so here are a few pros and cons to help make the decision process a little less painful: Yay Investment: You’re probably sick of hearing this, but a tweed jacket is the ultimate investment when it comes to statement-making outerwear with an element of longevity. Statement maker: A sunny yellow hue is the way to welcome spring/summer into your wardrobe, and this three-toned jacket is sure to complement airy summer ensembles no end. Flattering cut: A semi-fitted cut and three-quarter sleeves make for the perfect jacket to accentuate your waist area whilst showing off some wrist candy! Nay Price: Just as the classic Chanel version commands a rather large sum of money, this Lanvin option isn’t far behind. A four figure sum will not only dent the bank balance, but £1,970 could amount to a lot of other missed wardrobe investments opportunities. Colour: As much as the colour is attention grabbing, when a classic piece is splashed in it, it […]

Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz launches limited edition make-up range with Lancôme

Only 15 days into the year and yet another big collaboration has been announced! Unlike those Beyonce for H&M rumours we told you about yesterday, the news that Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz will be teaming up with Lancôme to launch a make-up collection is 100% confirmed. And as you can expect, we are pretty giddy with excitement and anticipation! “Alber Elbaz is, without a doubt, one of the world’s most influential fashion designers,” said Lancôme International president Youcef Nabi. “But beyond that, he is also the most talented. His sense of luxury, his vision of femininity and that hint of audacity resonate perfectly with the new values of the Maison Lancôme. We are extremely proud and happy that, with us, he is set to channel his universe in the world of makeup for the very first time.” The limited edition Lancôme by Alber Elbaz line will reportedly land in stores worldwide on June 15th, and if you watch the Youtube video below, it looks like we can expect many a bright lipstick, eye shadow and nail polish in the collection. Roll on, June! http://youtu.be/vRl8K133Hi8 [Styleite]

Watch Lanvin’s autumn/winter 2012 video starring ‘real people’

Remember last month we showed you Lanvin’s autumn/winter 2012 ad campaign images that featured absolutely no models in them whatsoever! Well, the ‘real people’ that Alber Elbaz chose for the ads have returned to tell their stories, in a fun quirky and relatively haunting video. If the stars of the campaign were unknown before, they certainly won’t be now as they tell us their fascinating and very individual stories. From a ballet dancer to a salt and pepper shaker collector to an artist to all else inbetween, Lanvin really has selected a diverse range of people who are united by the stunning items of clothing on their backs. Now don’t get us wrong, we don’t think anything can top Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmermann dancing their socks off for least season’s video, but the new one isn’t far behind! Props to Alber and the team for going for something different – the risk definitely paid off! http://youtu.be/1viiuWXdDhM [Fashionologie]

Here’s why Alber Elbaz didn’t use models for his latest Lanvin ad campaign…

We applaud Alber Elbaz for going against the norm and challenging the existing conventions of the fashion world. For the Lanvin autumn/winter 2012 ad campaigns, Alber Elbaz used “real people”, although no one really knew why he decided to make such a bold move… until now! “I wanted to see people from different age groups, body shapes and personalities wearing Lanvin,” he said. “That is what Lanvin is all about and represents – we don’t only do clothes for 20-year-old girls. I love to see mature women wearing Lanvin as well. I love wrinkles, I love grey hair.” We actually love this man! And how did the lucky faces and bodies of the campaign get picked, you ask? “There was a street casting in New York and the team who did the casting did a fantastic job. They sent me all the photos of the anonymous people who had been pre-cast and the day before the shoot, I met them all. “It was an unforgettable experience to meet with these beautiful people. It’s all about individuals with individuality.” Aw!  Who thinks he should come to London for a casting for the spring/summer 2013 ad campaign? [Coco Perez]

Rate or Slate: Dakota Fanning in Prada, Jennifer Lopez in Lanvin and Ginnifer Goodwin in H&M Red Carpet Conscious Collection

For this week’s Rate or Slate, the A-list style choices have left us, well, in a bit of a fashion pickle and only reinforced our indecisiveness! 18-year-old Dakota Fanning opted for what appears to be a beyond-her-years Prada gown at the 2012 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, while Ginnifer Goodwin who also attended– and known for her unconventional take on fashion in the spotlight – went for a H&M Conscious Collection dress, flying the flag high for the humble high street, similarly to when she opted for Topshop at last year’s Met Gala. Jennifer Lopez, on the other hand, appeared in a rather interesting Lanvin number as she announced her mega 20-city tour, earlier this week. Sporting a tri-coloured stretch silk dress accessorised in the most unusual way – with a crystal snake motif wrapped around her neck! We’re not too ssssurrreee (ahem) what we think! Thought provoking fashion, much? It’s over to our discerning Style Jury to decide whether they approve… Fashion News Ed says: Dakota Fanning: ‘Dakota was one of my personal best dressed guests at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner… always demure, elegant, sophisticated etc, etc. She does have the tendency to dress older than her years, but I don’t think she should start dressing like a teenager now, especially since she’s almost 20 and has found her “look”. Dakota and Prada is a match made in heaven!’ Jennifer Lopez: ‘J-Lo loves her Lanvin, doesn’t she? I personally love this look, but can see how it might not be to everyone’s tastes as it’s a bit fussy. The silhouette is perfect for Jen’s curves, and I’m glad she wore her hair up so as not to interfere with the intricate detailing. Another style win for Jenny from the Block in my opinion.’ Ginnifer Goodwin: ‘I applaud Ginnifer for wearing this […]

Who wore it best? Kate Moss vs Courtney Cox in luxurious Lanvin

Kate Moss is usually one to be the first to wear a new trend, whether it be a boyfriend blazer or a trilby hat. You can be sure that she sports the look first. But this snake print dress by Lanvin managed to slip through the supermodel’s designer laced finger, as she was not first on the celebrity scene to don the dress. Instead Ms Moss was beaten by a star across the pond – Courtney Cox. The former Friends star wore the luxurious number to the Critic’s Choice Television Awards last month. Courtney clinched the dress in at the waist with a nude belt and teamed it with low strappy black heels, flowing raven locks. Our very own model decided to wear the Lanvin in her trademark nonchalant style, underneath an oversized white blazer. She too added in black accessories, with the classics – Louboutins and a Chanel clutch. Whilst we like La Moss’s trendy take on the high-end dress, her bedraggled locks don’t do much for us. We much prefer Courtney’s red carpet tresses. Who’s style do you prefer? Kate’s casual grunge chic or Courtney’s luxurious locks?

Love or Hate: Lanvin suede and python wedges

I’ve always loved wedges as they provide you with height and the added bonus that they’re easier to walk in and more stable then heels. But when it comes to looking pretty they’re, more often than not, defeated by heels in the style stakes – in the evening, wedges can sometimes look too clumpy and less elegant than their slim-heeled counterparts. However, hope is out there. These Lanvin suede and python wedges are gorgeous. The upper is made from luxurious navy suede and the pink leather platform is gloriously girly. I love the neat wooden heels and the 5.5 inches of height they offer. A nude grosgrain ribbon fastens around the ankle and ties right in with the ballet trend at the moment for extra points, too.        These beauties are really leg-lengthening, so show off those pins with a draped wrap around dress or tailored shorts and blouse. Never one to disappoint, Lanvin has given us the perfect feminine wedge. I’ll take these over espadrilles any day. Lanvin Suede and Python Wedges, £800, available at Matches. BUY NOW!

Plus, a toe thong and ankle strap see these sandals are extra secure for ploughing through the sand on the beach. Wear them with a pretty playsuit or a white floaty dress to show them off in style. Blake Lively in Lanvin

A touch of the green eyed monster is certainly come over us MFL girls, but we wouldn’t expect anything less from this international trend-setter. The Gossip Girl star looked stunning in her taupe evening gown, complete with revealing thigh splits and fan-crimped pleats, and though we’re unsure about the insect-inspired dog collar, the tan leather harness gives the outfit an unconventional twist – not to mention complements those LA sun-loving sandals. Get the look: Chloe Sevigny in Lanvin

We couldn’t resist highlighting another fab outfit choice by the ever stylish Chloe Sevigny, who rocked up to the Emmys this week in a trend-led leopard print Lanvin number, which she managed to make completely her own. We love how the 80s accents – red bag, slicked back hair and gold chains – don’t over power the look, and Chloe looks as radiant and demure as we’re used to by now. Of course, we want to see how it’s done for us mere mortals too so have a peep at how to recreate her look… D&G leopard print knit dress, £280, Selfridges. Classic leopard print is the perfect pairing to a streamlined silhouette, and this D&G dress has the similar hallmarks of a Chloe cool hit with half sleeves and mini length – and the thin knit texture means it will work with leggings for daywear, too. Lorna Lace Bow Sandals, £70, Topshop These Topshop bow strap shoes are a pretty great match for Chloe’s pair with a pretty good price tag to boot – a snip at £70. The Lorna shoe looks to be a seasonal classic, and with it’s lace contrast and built-in platform, they’re made for dancing. Giles & Brother braided snake chain necklace, £200, Browns Fashion This Giles & Brother necklace not only fits the fashion bill, but it’s a pretty statement piece to focus all other outfits around too when in doubt. With the metallic tones and braided effect, we think we may love this one most of all. Bobelle Aphrodite clutch, £62.50, Fashion-Conscience.com Searching for a great red clutch bag as sleek and striking in colour as Ms. Sevigny’s proved a tough task, but we found a winner from BoBelle, where a cherry-hued Aphrodite box bag completes our cool recreation of Chloe’s effortlessly polished […]

Lunchtime buy: Lanvin chain-ankle ballerina flats

Frequently the most desirable collection at each fashion week, Lanvin came up trumps again this season with a catwalk of elegant, asymmetrical dresses, statement jewellery and delicate shoes. We’ve just caught sight of these lovely pumps at Net-a-Porter, which are the perfect option for an evening out when platforms just aren’t the order of the day. If the gold anklet is a bit too fussy for the daytime then just simply remove it and wear as a versatile black, luxe ballerina flat. £405 / $725 from Net-a-Porter.

MET Ball 2010: Demi Moore in Lanvin

Oh Demi. It just goes to show that you can’t have it all can you? This metallic wet-look dress is channelling just a little too much of the eighties, so much so that it looks like it’s come straight out of 1983. It’s a surprising piece from Lanvin and we’re sure it works on purely fashion level, but translated on to the red carpet we’re not so sure. While the thigh high split was a popular trend amongst other stars at the Costume Institute Gala, Demi just doesn’t quite manage to pull it off. With the one shouldered detail and draping at the hip, the shape of the dress overall isn’t too bad, and with a figure like Demi’s she can afford to flash a bit of skin and still look classy. But in this less than expensive looking material and metallic shade Demi just doesn’t do herself any favours. Demi is gorgeous though, and her luscious hair and enviable figure means we won’t be holding this little faux pas against her for long.

Lunchtime buy: Lanvin Pom Pom Necklace

Will fashion’s love affair with Alber Elbaz ever cease? The man can do no wrong in our eyes and we completely fell in love with Lanvin’s Spring 2010 collection. Transferring his technical ability to shape fabric into romantic and dramatic shapes using drapery and ruffles, Elbaz has created this statement necklace that captures the no-colour trend of spring, focussing on the details that will add impact to any basic outfit. The necklace is divided into four parts: grosgrain ribbon threaded through a line of look-a-like pearls; ribbon weaved through a fine chain in a Chanel-esque fashion, and two, simple yet contrasting gold chains. The flower pom poms bringing them all together are made from a beautiful coral silk. Embrace your inner romantic and get yours now: £545 from Matches Fashion.

Steep vs Cheap: Lanvin or Linzi?

Summer is itching to appear (promise), we had our sunny spell and now the rain refuses to go away. More than being very upsetting and rather annoying, it makes it difficult in choosing the appropriate footwear. It is morally wrong to be wearing boots in the months of July and August but unless you want soaking wet feet, sandals are not an option. Step forward the ballet pump, a hidden gem of a shoe, chic for work and play, they can be formal in black or add a summery splash of colour in a gorgeous array of brights. My favourites have to be the Chanel-esque quilted flats, in black, they are perfect for pairing with jeans, vest and blazer for that preppy casual look or a skirt and shirt for that smart office outfit.

Top 50 Fashion Designers In The World

Ever wondered who the top 50 fashion designers in the world are? Well, wonder no more. We’ve put together a list most famous fashion designers from around the globe. From past icons to current trailblazers who are setting the trends right now, here’s a comprehensive deep dive into the best fashion designers without whom the fashion industry just wouldn’t be the same. 1. Coco Chanel If there’s one iconic fashion designer who’s influenced the industry more than any other, it’s definitely Coco Chanel. She brought something new to the table, freeing women from the restrictions of frills and corsets, instead offering up simple, comfortable styles. And today, more than 50 years after her passing, her influence is still felt. Coco Chanel’s early life wasn’t an easy one, marked by tragedy and hardship. Her mother passed away when she was young, and she and her siblings had to be raised at an orphanage. Despite everything, Chanel was determined to make a name for herself in the world. Her designs stood out from the crowd, effortless and refined. She transformed fabrics that were traditionally associated with men’s clothing, like tweed and jersey, into chic, comfy pieces for women. The late designer will always be remembered for her creation of the little black dress, which is still a wardrobe staple for many. Chanel also branched out into the fragrance industry, launching her famous Chanel No. 5 perfume in 1921. She was a trendsetter in more ways than one, using groundbreaking marketing techniques to promote her work. And even now, you can spot her signature CC logo anywhere and to this day Chanel is one of the top French fashion brands in the world. 2. Giorgio Armani Giorgio Armani is a name that screams luxury and style, and this Italian designer has been a […]

Let’s Discuss The Return Of Oversized Bags

There’s nothing that’s given us greater pleasure than the comeback of the oversized bag. Oh, how we love massive statement bags. And, this season designers are certainly having a love affair with huge arm candy. There were extra large sling bags at Sies Marjan, humongous croissant bags at Nanushka, giant soft sack bags at Jacquemus, Hermes and Bottega Veneta, super-sized bucket bags at Marni and Lanvin, enormous shoulder bags at Gabriela Hearst and oversized clutch bags at Givenchy , Balenciaga and Celine…. Now we know what you’re thinking. Okay, oversized bags can be impractical. But, this is one of those instances (like with killer heels) when statement style trumps function. And if you’re anything like us, in the sense that you’re inclined to carry everything including the kitchen sink, then can we make the case that large bags aren’t just an accessory to lust over, they’re a necessity. Bottega Veneta definitely leads the pack with their oversized offerings, but Gucci, Wandler and Saint Laurent aren’t too far behind. Ahead we feature our favourite on-trend bags to buy now.
