Victoria Beckham has been named Britain’s most successful entrepreneur. And you know what? We think we agree! The former Spice Girl topped the Management Today list of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs after her empire turned over a whopping £30 million last year, with her super-successful Victoria Beckham and Victoria Victoria Beckham labels and new standalone store in London making all that possible. “She’s got a real business, some design talent and some business nous,” said Andrew Saunders, the publication’s deputy editor. “She gets a lot of stick for being a celeb fashionista but I don’t think that’s fair. She has built something real out of her own celebrity which is quite a contemporary story. She deserves to be celebrated.” We couldn’t agree more – especially as some “celeb fashionista” labels and collections (not naming any names, of course) have barely got off the ground. Congratulations VB – well deserved! [Guardian]

Kate Middleton wears Alexander McQueen for WW1 100 Years commemoration
It was a historic day yesterday, as Britain and the rest of the world remembered the beginning of World War 1 which took place 100 years ago. Kate Middleton and hubby Prince William joined King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium for the WW1 100 Years Commemoration Ceremony which was held at Le Mémorial Interallié in Liege, Belgium yesterday morning, before heading to the St Symphorien Military Cemetery (pictured) to pay their respects. “Among the very first victims were the people of Belgium, whose resistance was as gallant as their suffering was great,” Prince William said while speaking at the ceremony. The Duchess of Cambridge looked flawless, as expected, and wore a coat dress from one of her go to British designers, Alexander McQueen. She accessorised her pleated pal coat dress – which came complete with a cute-as-a-button Peter Pan collar – with an intricate Jane Taylor Millinery hat and, you guessed it, her trusty LK Bennett nude heels. A very apt outfit, hair and accessory choice for the occasion; we wouldn’t expect any less!
Read MoreSpotlight on: Haxby Debuts a Men’s Collection That Meshes Both Classic and Contemporary Styles
While menswear has undergone many changes over the years, the emphasis on classic, quality style remains a feature for a number of designers. This is certainly the case when it comes to Michael Dow and Timothy White, the masterminds behind the new menswear line Haxby. By combining their diverse aesthetic backgrounds, Haxby Collective’s debut line features menswear that exhibits both contemporary appeal, as well as the classic craftsmanship inherent in heritage menswear. A Debut Years in the Making Deriving inspiration from the iconic tailors of Savile Row, Dow and White have imbued their debut line with a level of excellence typically missing from contemporary menswear. This line is the result of two years of extensive research, which involved scouring the globe for the best in both materials and crafters. This level of attention certainly shows in the line itself, which is replete with items that are both understated as well as fashion-forward. Serving as a counterpoint to similar contemporary fashion lines, Haxby places importance on classic aesthetics without sacrificing modern appeal. The Quality Is in the Details As with most fashion, details play an important role when it comes to the quality of the finished product. Dow and White excel at creating notable finishing touches that make their pieces stand out from competing menswear lines. Highlights of the debut line include many exciting elements, from must-have accessories to stylish jeans that can be either dressed up or down. • Eyewear – Haxby’s handcrafted eyewear comes courtesy of Japan’s Masunaga Optical Factory, which painstakingly crafts these stunning glasses utilizing approximately 200 manual steps for a single pair. All Haxby frames are created according to classic British eyewear design, and glasses are available with inlays of either 24K yellow or white gold. • Footwear – When it comes to sneaker design, Haxby […]

Read MoreLetitia Herod crowned Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model 2012 winner!
After what we think has been the biggest, toughest and (in our opinion) greatest season of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model yet, 18-year-old Angelina Jolie lookalike Letitia Herod walked away as the winner! Big congrats from us! It was one heck of a tough final though, as Letitia faced stiff competition from Emma G and Anita, but judges Elle Macpherson, Julien Macdonald, Tyson Beckford, and Whitney Port (who has just been amazing, may we add!) thought she had what it takes to be a real top model. Do you guys agree with the judges? We’re quite smug proud to say that we predicted the final three several weeks ago, but definitely think all the girls in the competition put up a good fight and kept us thoroughly entertained episode after episode. We can’t wait to see Letitia in action; bring on all those ad campaigns! [Image]
Read MoreCould eBay kill our charitable side?
Like a sickening Heston Blumenthal recipe of bacon ice cream, one wouldn’t consider stringing ‘Kim Kardashian’ and ‘charity’ along in the same sentence. I’m not talking about financial charity – she does that – I’m talking about fashionable charity; the act of handing over the beloved contents of your wardrobe to a charity of your choice for a cause worthier than walking around in them racking up envious praise, without financial gain. After rap star boyfriend Kanye branded her rather extensive wardrobe ‘ghetto’, Kim Kardashian has jumped on the e-selling bandwagon and auctioned several items from her designer-heavy wardrobe on eBay. Well, obviously, there’s no room for cleavage-pushing bandage dresses and heels teetering on Coco Austin territory in Kanye West’s all leather and monochrome world. So, the subservient girlfriend that she is, Kim has decided to flog her pre-loved wares on the world’s largest marketplace, and only donate 10% of the proceeds from sale to the ‘Life Changing Church Community’ charity. *insert shocked-fall-on-the-floor- gasp here*. An appalling donation by the standards of someone who has several financially flourishing enterprises on the go, and splashes $750,000 on a Lamborghini for her beau’s birthday present (cue: awkward/angry shifting in chair). But her reckless spending has nothing to do with the pain that I’m feeling in the part of my heart dedicated to all things charity-related. No. The fact that most things a super-celeb of Kim’s calibre endorses turn to platinum (forget gold), and quite frankly thrash all records of public success frightens me. Take the sacred union of marriage for example, now reduced to an easy, 72-day (façade), complete with desirable Vera Wang wedding dress. Could Kim’s shift to eBay spell ruin for charities so desperately in need of donations such as these to keep supporting the causes that created them? An […]

If autumn makes you want to go back to what you know, you’ll find all the home comforts you need from British heritage brand Daks. Having delved into its recently-opened archive museum, the luxury label has reworked its traditional checks and tweeds into an altogether more contemporary collection for autumn, which both takes a modern approach to style and reflects Daks’ signature long-standing values. And loaded with rich autumnal shades like leafy greens, chocolate browns and ever-classic navy, it feels suitably sophisticated with an insouciant charm. In a kick back to late Sixties, early Seventies London, sharply tailored separates are given a feminine edge with delicate shirts and pleats in dresses, as sturdy materials are lifted with luxe fabrics like silk or fine knits for a strong yet elegant silhouette. Outerwear is key, too, taking masculine shapes like heavy duffel coats and mixing them with whimsical capes and hooded ponchos, while accessories come classic and practical with a striking Sixties story that Jane Birkin would certainly approve of. Refined and elegant but laced with British charm, we want to dive right in. Now, lets all go and backcomb our hair and apply some flicky liner. Head on over to Daks to shop the collection. As we battle the post-holiday blues and prepare for what the new year has in store, we’re still reliving what last year had to offer – and in fashion, there were enough dramatic twists and turns to keep us on the edge of our sartorial seat all year long. From Alexander McQueen’s tragic death in February to the frenzy following William and Kate’s royal engagement in November, take a look at the highlights and lowlights that have made the most memorable fashion moments of 2010. Lee Alexander McQueen Following the designers death in February, the fashion world came together to mourn the loss of one of the world’s greatest design talents with a special memorial service at September’s London Fashion Week. His last collection was unveiled without him at a private show just one month after his death – shortly after, Sarah Burton was named as his successor, and unveiled her first solo collection at Paris Fashion Week. Celebrating his life and work, McQueen was last month honoured posthumously with the Outstanding Achievement Award at 2010’s British Fashion Awards. Naomi Campbell She’s had her fair share of controversy, what with being accused of attacking her New York driver – for which she didn’t face charges – and being sued by her former agent for perjury, but Namoi Campbell has had her ups too. Her Fashion for Relief catwalk show reunited the fashion greats for a worthy cause and went down as a storming success, Dolce & Gabbana payed special homage to her at Fashion’s Night Out, and the super picked up the Special Recognition Award at the BFA’s to boot. Fashion’s Night Out (and In) Fashion’s Night Out proved more successful in its second year than it did the first, persuading even the biggest names in fashion to get involved […]
Read MoreDesigner collaboration alert: Michael Bastian for GANT
We love a good designer and brand collaboration here at MFL for Him, and we especially love it when a truly great designer gets together with a top brand to create a collection that really works. The latest of said collaborations that we’re looking forward to is that of twice nominated CDFA Menswear Designer of the Year, Michael Bastian and Gant – the brand that delivers American style clothing with European flair. The collection, which is set to launch at the end of August, fuses the rich heritage of Gant with the modern and luxurious American classics that Michael Bastian is known for, and promises to mix sporty pieces with tailored elements to create a truly wearable collection. Inspired by the fastest sport on two feet, Lacrosse, the collection features sporty separates in classic colours, where maroon sweaters edged with contrast orange stripes are mixed with check shirts and chunky knits for a grown-up preppy look. We love this green knit sweater with the quirky Lacrosse pattern across the chest – it looks great worn with simple chinos and a relaxed shirt underneath for a sports-chic look. Worn with a check flannel shirt this classic down bomber jacket does that American sportswear look perfectly, as well as making for a great piece of outerwear for Autumn Winter. Other stand-out pieces in the collection that are worth checking out include tailored blazers with elbow patches and a truly must-have washed moleskin military pea coat. The Michael Bastian for Gant collection will be exclusively available at Selfridges on Oxford Street as well as gantuk.com from 25th August.

Lily Allen is jealous of Kate Moss. The ‘Fear’ singer is envious of her supermodel friend’s “massive” and “amazing” clothing collection. She said: “Do Kate and I talk about fashion? No, not all the time. She has the most amazing wardrobe though. It’s massive! Have you seen her wardrobe? She has rooms just dedicated to clothes.” Despite her fascination with fashion and designer labels, Lily – who designed a sell-out line for British high street store New Look in 2007 – says she has no plans to collaborate with the 35-year-old model on a clothing range. Referring to Kate’s Topshop line, Lily told Britain’s More magazine: “We won’t do a fashion line together. I think she does very well on her own. I’m doing a jewellery range this year though and I’ve done some modelling for someone but I can’t tell you who. It’s very, very good though.

Remember, when pink coats were literally seen on every fashion editor last winter? Well, this season we’ve gone all red. It’s a trend that occurs every year. When it’s absolutely freezing cold and ever so dreary outside, there’s nothing like a statement coloured coat to lift the spirits. Loved by a number of celebs of late, inlcuding Natalie Portman and Rita Ora, the red coat is best paired with an all black outfit for that extra “wow” factor. Here’s some of our favourites…..and don’t forget – opt for a tailored coat for a timeless buy…

At a loss for what to wear on New Years Eve? Look no further than the white trouser suit. A wardrobe staple, the white trouser suit is having somewhat of a fashion moment of late with celebrity starlets favouring a more masculine approach to occasion dressing. Recently, Jessica Chastain stunned in a chic Giorgio Armani suit at a luncheon in honor of her latest movie and let’s not forget how amazing Ashley Madekwe looked at the 2014 British Fashion Awards in Banana Republic’s three-piece ivory suit. Sleek. Sophisticated. Classic. The white trouser suit is all that and more, however it can be VERY tricky to pull off. How not to wear? Very rarely and we repeat “very rarely” is Jennifer Lawrence guilty of a fashion crime but it saddens us to say, the actress committed a major offence with this ill-fitting suit at the photocall for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. To avoid making a similar error, always opt for fitted rather than wide-legged trousers. However, don’t do a Rita Ora and venture to the opposite side of the spectrum with skin-tight trousers and even worse accessory overload. Instead, look to Jessica Chastain and Ashley Madekwe for how to pull off the white trouser suit. Keeping accessories to a minimum, both beauties hit all the right style notes with their outfits. Get the look: We’ve had our eye on this cream wool trouser suit from Reiss and now it’s on sale there’s no holding us back! We know, it’s not white…but it’s close enough. Although the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the British Fashion Awards is out of our hands (and we’re kind of glad about it too, as we couldn’t possibly choose between JW Anderson, Christopher Kane and Erdem!), we do actually have a say in who walks away with the British Style Award. The 20 nominees have been released today, and it looks like the competition is fiercer than ever. There’s a real mixed bag of famous faces in there – from models to actresses to human rights lawyers – but there’s one thing they all have in common and that’s impeccable style. We think we’re going to take a while to cast our votes… The ten boys who have been shortlisted are, in no particular order, Douglas Booth, Benedict Cumberbatch , Ralph Fiennes, Bobby Gillespie. David Beckham, Daniel Sturridge, David Gandy, Idris Elba, Jamie Hine and Tinie Tempah. The ten girl who have been nominated are, once again in no particular order because we don’t want to influence you, Cara Delevingne, Emma Watson, FKA Twigs, Amal Cooney, Dame Helen Mirren, Kate Moss, Kate Bush, Rita Ora, Jourdan Dunn and Keira Knightley. Phew! There is also an “other” box to tick if you think someone else deserves the award (Kate Middleton or Harry Styles, perhaps?). Voting closes on November 5th, and everyone who votes will be entered into a prize draw to win 2 tickets to attend the awards ceremony on December 1st. So, get voting!

If you hate wearing heels because you can’t take the pain on the balls of your feet, the blisters, or the fact that it takes you twice as long to get anywhere in them, then we’re here to tell you that you aren’t alone. You aren’t alone because trainers are in actual fact the nation’s favourite footwear. Does this news surprise you? In a survey conducted by eBay, it was discovered that heels are out and trainers are in. And it looks like trainer-lovers have Rihanna to thank for it, as she has been voted “sneaker icon of the year”. And we all know how influential Rihanna is… The news may have surprised us a few years ago, but since we have been seeing more and more trainers on the catwalk (thank you, Chanel) and on some of the trendiest A-listers such as Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora, we’ve barely batted an eyelid. So, from feet across the nation, thank you ladies! [Glamour] [Image]

All the big names in fashion, film, and music gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night, for the highly anticipated Met Gala! This year, the museum was honouring Charles James, and the dress-code was a very simple (albeit slightly “boring” according to Marc Jacobs) “white tie and decorations”. Anyone familiar with the work of Charles James would know that elegant eveningwear was his thing, so they wouldn’t have gone wrong by donning the finest couture pieces with some elegant jewels. There were many ladies who absolutely nailed their looks, while some probably should have stayed home. Stella McCartney had a big moment on the red carpet, dressing the likes of Rihanna and Reese Witherspoon so flawlesslessly for the event, in two very different but equally stunning dresses. Rihanna went for her signature sexy look, while Reese was a vintage glamour goddess. Selena Gomez also wowed on the red carpet for us, looking very mature for just 21 years old in a bold deep purple Diane von Furstenberg dress. We also love how Gossip Girl stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were reunited at the Met Gala – they both looked amazing in their respective Gucci Premiere and Emilio Pucci dresses. Not all of the ladies went for full-length or ballgown dresses (like Hayden Panettiere who looked like a Princess!) though – Solange Knowles and Lena Dunham were just two of the stars who went for something a little bit shorter. The impact definitely wasn’t lost though. Here are our best dressed celebs from last night’s Met Gala. Let us know who gets your vote in the comments below. Read MoreMilan Fashion Week AW14 highlights from Moschino, Fendi, Prada & more
We have no idea why Milan Fashion Week isn’t as popular as New York, London or Paris, because the latest collections to debut on the Italian catwalks were out of this world. We don’t think Giorgio Armani is going to have too much of a tough time getting support for MFW if the latest shows from Moschino, Prada, Fendi and Just Cavalli were anything to go by. Jeremy Scott’s first collection for Moschino was always going to be an interesting one, and we definitely think he met expectations and pulled a stellar collection – and catwalk show – out the bag! Jeremy Scott showcased everything from a revamped McDonalds logo to everyone’s favourite little underwater creature, Spongebob Squarepants, to all-else in-between. Katy Perry and Rita Ora showed no signs of a hangover – despite partying until the wee hours of the morning after attending the Brits – as they were the modelling guests of honour on the Moschino autumn/winter 2014 catwalk. The ladies stole the show as they strutted down the catwalk to take their well-deserved seats in the front row to watch the rest of the new-season pieces make their debut. If they ever fancy a career change, we definitely think they have what it takes to make it big in the modelling world! If we could take only two things away from the Fendi autumn/winter 2014 show, it would be the Karl Lagerfeld doll/handbag which Cara Delevingne (who was walking exclusively for Fendi, may we add) carried down the catwalk, Georgia May Jagger’s outfit. We love GMJ at the best of times, but her appearance on the Fendi catwalk was above and beyond anything we could have ever expected. Kaiser Karl himself described the Fendi collection as brutal and poetic, and we definitely got that memo given all the […]

Beyonce didn’t actually walk the main red carpet, but she stole the show for us sartorially and vocally. As the surprise performer of the night, Bey wowed the crowd with her performance of XO, and also made jaws drop thanks to her shimmering, figure-hugging Vrettos Vrettakos gown. She looked like a modern day mermaid! Katy Perry proved that we don’t need to wait for the Oscars to see new-season sparkly dresses hit the red carpet, as she stepped out in a glittering Julien Macdonald dress hot off the autumn/winter 2014 catwalk while presenting an award on stage. Rita Ora added some much needed colour to the red carpet by way of an attention-grabbing yellow Prada dress – gorgeous doesn’t even cut it – and Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Iggy Azalea went bold and sexy in the classic wowsome colour, red! We were quite happy to sacrifice another night’s beauty sleep for the 56th Grammy Awards which took place in Los Angeles yesterday, as the red carpet was as riveting as ever! We’re eternally grateful for the invention of satellite TV and live streams, otherwise we wouldn’t have got the full “chain mail” effect of Taylor Swift’s stunning Gucci Premiere dress which was the talk of the red carpet and MFL HQ this morning. Another lady who got us talking for all the right reasons was Katy Perry, who gets the award for “most apt dress” thanks to the Valentino Couture music note dress she stepped out in. She gets extra points for lifting a look off the Couture Fashion Week runway so soon after its catwalk debut! Rita Ora decided to go for a short, sweet and sexy look on this occasion, swapping her usual gowns for a dazzling, reflective Lanvin dress. Well, if you have a body like Rita’s you might as well make the most of it and show it off, are we right? Check out the full list of ladies who impressed us on the Grammys red carpet last night; who gets your best-dressed vote? Move over Rita Ora, Superga has a brand new leading lady, and it’s none other than Suki Waterhouse! Suki Waterhouse is slowly but surely taking over the fashion world; she’s already poses for Burberry, and now the spring/summer 2014 ad campaign for Superga is the latest fash project under her belt. Although Suki totally fits in with the British Superga theme, there’s a slight difference with the latest ad campaign… Superga has introduced Sprezzatura – the Italian art of looking good without trying too hard. It also explores how fashion industry insiders interpret Sprezzatura in their own signature style. Pretty cool, right? We think Suki Waterhouse is Sprezzatura personified! She has some pretty big shoes to fill as both Rita and Alexa Chung have appeared in Superga ads over the years, but we think Suki definitely holds her own. Do you think Suki Waterhouse makes a good brand ambassador for Superga?

So we’ve revealed who the lucky and worthy recipients of the big prizes were at last night’s British Fashion Awards, but now it’s time to dissect their red carpet style. Harry Styles proved that he earned his British Style award as he looked very dapper and charming in his Saint Laurent suit, while Alexa Chung showed us why Stella McCartney walked away with the coveted Designer of the Year award this time last year by wearing one of her white dresses. Other famous faces to impress us on the arrivals red carpet include model and actress Rosie Huntington Whiteley who went for a bold red Antonio Berardi number, while Rita Ora went vintage old Hollywood with her bedazzling Vivienne Westwood gown. See all of our favourite looks from last night’s BFAs below and let us know who your favourite is! Major congrats to Jeremy Scott, as the designer has been named as the new Creative Director of Moschino! The news broke last night, with the Twittersphere buzzing with congratulatory messages from everyone from Rita Ora, Miley Cyrus, Kylie and more. “This appointment respects the DNA of the brand as Jeremy Scott represents not only an eclectic and contemporary communicator but most of all a designer capable of re-interpreting the identity and the essence of Moschino,” reads a press release from the brand. The 39-year-old designer – and former Moschino intern, don’tcha know – will be presenting his debut collection for the Italian brand in February during Milan Fashion Week. His eponymous Jeremy Scott line will. Still continue as normal, so we predict he’s going to be a very busy boy from now on! Congrats again to Jeremy Scott – we can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve!

Just yesterday we gushed about how gorgeous she looked in her ‘Loved by Mollie’ pictures for Oasis, but it looks like we aren’t the only ones who see a lot of potential from the blonde Saturdays singer. It’s just been revealed that Mollie has signed to Next Model Management – one of the biggest and most successful modelling agencies around. “Mollie has a really great style identity and we started to notice her fashion potential,” said Sarah Leon, a spokesperson for Next Model Management. “We are really excited to continue working with Mollie, she has great things ahead.” Mollie shouldn’t feel scared about being surrounded by professional models though as Next also boast the likes of singers Lana Del Rey, Rita Ora and Ellie Goulding in its books too. She’s definitely in good company! [Telegraph]
Read More5 ‘can’t-live-without’ cult sweatshirts
There’s only one way to stand out from the crowd and cement your status as a true stylista this autumn/winter season… and you’re looking at it! Eye-popping jumpers are what it’s all about; all of the hottest designers from Stella McCartney to Christopher Kane to everyone else inbetween have tackled the statement cult sweatshirt, and we’ve narrowed down five of our absolute current favourites: 1. We think we’d be more interested in the medical profession if MRI scans really looked like this – Christopher Kane has nailed the statement sweatshirt, and this is just one of his vivid designs. Christopher Kane brain print jumper, £275 2. Worn by all the cool kids of celebville from Rihanna to Rita Ora to Cara Delevingne, your winter wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without this simple but statement-worthy sweatshirt. Boy London metallic eagle logo sweatshirt, £60 3. Jumpers don’t have to be reserved for those casual, dress-down days, oh no. This sweatshirt may be oversized and might hide some of your curves, but the subtle delicate print will help bring out your feminine side. The best of both worlds. Acne bird oversized sweatshirt, £225 4. Markus Lupfer and the term “cult sweatshirt” were made for each other; he’s the King of the statement sweater for a reason! This jumper incorporates this season’s sporty, casual trend with the pop art look perfectly. Markus Lupfer brush stroke sweatshirt, £230 5. Stella McCartney has mastered pretty much every trend in her time as a designer, so it doesn’t surprise us to learn that she has totally conquered the cult sweatshirt trend too. What’s not to love about this bold eagle printed jumper? Stella McCartney eagle quilted jumper, £475

A little simplicity can go a long, long way. And Clemence Poesy arriving at the Chanel show during Paris Fashion Week to take her rightful place on the front row is poof of that. The gorgeous French actress looked incredible in a simple pair of rolled up blue jeans, a black top, black flats and a chic Chanel boucle jacket. Just goes to show that investing in a “statement” piece, in this case the Chanel jacket, can transform even the simplest and most casual of outfits into something wow-worthy. She definitely dressed circles around the other frow-ers which says a lot considering the likes of Rita Ora and Katy Perry were also in attendance. Clemence completed her flawless look by wearing her hair in some glamorous tumbling waves, going for subtle make-up and of course, an essential black Chanel bag.

Well this has to be some sort of record! Less than 24 hours after debuting on the Milan Fashion Week catwalk, Blake Lively has stepped out in a black liquid lame jumpsuit from the brand spanking new Gucci spring/summer 2014 collection. And doesn’t she look incredible in it? Why she wasn’t sent on the runway in it in a Rita Ora for DKNY fashion we will never know! The face of the Gucci Premiere fragrance looked positively glowing as she attended the Beauty in Wonderland exhibition in Milan yesterday evening. She accessorised her new-season jumpsuit with black open-toed sandals and an 18kt white gold and diamond horsebit cocktail ring, while sweeping her hair off her face in a chicly disheveled updo and opting for natural make-up. If it wasn’t already obvious why Gucci loves her, this look will definitely do the trick. A match made in heaven! [Image c/o Gucci]

If you’ve been paying attention to Cara Delevingne and her wifey/BFF Rita Ora’s personal sartorial styles of late, you’ll know that they are all over bomber jackets – and have been for quite some time. We think the great British High Street has cottoned onto this, and as a result has produced quite a lot of them for the new season; this flower embroidered bomber jacket from Topshop is one of our faves. The aforementioned new season is the perfect time to rock a bomber jacket as it’s not quite cold enough to dig out the big winter coat from the back of the wardrobe. Bomber jackets can be quite a tomboyish, androgynous piece, but they don’t have to be. This Topshop flower embroidered bomber jacket comes complete with intricate embroidered flower detailing, which definitely gives it that highly sought after feminine touch. What a busy weekend in the Big Apple! New York Fashion Week was action packed over the past few days, with the likes of Victoria Beckham, Alexander Wang, Prabal Gurung, Zac Posen, Diane von Fursrenberg, DKNY and more debuting their spring/summer 2014 collections to the world. DKNY was all about urban New York in the 90s; we thought a little throw back would happen seeing as the label is celebrating its 25th birthday! Dungarees, baseball caps, sneakers, hoods, and bandana prints were all prominent throughout the collection, as was an updated version of the popular “naked” dress. Oh, and did we mention Rita Ora strutted her stuff down the catwalk to close the show? Victoria Beckham was all about shape and structure, with clean yet sharp lines in most of her pieces. Expect less clingy clothes in understated colours with a burst of pink for good measure. Zac Posen and Coco Rocha go hand in hand, so we weren’t surprised to see her opening the designer’s show wearing one of the cutest outfits in the entire collection. The models showcased romantic, dramatic and just drop dead gorgeous creations that are making us look forward to next year’s awards season as we know one or two celebs are going to be rocking some of these pieces. Here are some other highlights from New York Fashion Week over the weekend: Victoria Beckham Zac Posen Alexander Wang Diane von Furstenberg Prabal Gurung

As we told you earlier, the annual GQ Men of the Year awards took place at London’s Royal Opera House last night. And while the awards were very much about the men – apart from the Woman award which went to the lovely Emma Watson – our attention was on the ladies walking the arrivals red carpet instead. What can we say, we’re suckers high fashion on the red carpet! We were very impressed by the girls’ sartorial choices. We loved Emma Watson’s Balenciaga outfit, as she really played to the ‘men’ theme by opting to wear trousers as opposed to a dress. Rita Ora did wear a dress though – an Etro one at that – and looked rather jaw-dropping. Daisy Lowe turned up the sex factor in a very daring Saint Laurent number which will probably cause a bit of a stir, while Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Alexa Chung kept it short and sweet in their respective Versace and Carven numbers. Take a look at all eight of our best-dressed ladies and let us know who gets your vote! Akin to all great red carpets, the stars really brought their sartorial A games; we definitely felt a dress to impress theme going on. While some singers love to shock with their appearances, (yes Lady Gaga, we’re looking at you) outfits were a lot more toned down this time around; Mother Monster herself went for a classy and demure look in a stunning Prabal Guring number – and the rest of the musical stars followed suit! We love a good A-list celeb ad campaign – Beyonce for H&M, Rita Ora for DKNY, Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge for Burberry are just a few of our recent faves – but the latest one from M&S pretty much puts all of them in the shade. Instead of tapping one or two of the hottest celebs for its autumn/winter 2013 ad campaign, Marks and Spencer has enlisted the help of Britain’s Leading Ladies… and the results, as you can see, are pretty incredible! Dame Helen Mirren (who we told you would be shooting with Marks and Spencer a few months ago) was photographed by Annie Leibovitz, and was joined by Ellie Goulding, Grace Coddington, Karen Elson, Tracey Emin, Nicola Adams, Helen Allen, Jasmine Whitbread, Monica Ali, Darcey Bussell, Laura Mvula and Katie Piper. Phew! “We wanted this campaign to signal a new and confident tone of voice to introduce Autumn,” said Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, a spokesperson for M&S. “Annie was the perfect choice to shoot a campaign of this magnitude. Her unmistakable, signature style, with its truly dramatic aesthetic was exactly what we needed to communicate the essence of the campaign and of the new M&S. “Annie’s photography has become synonymous with defining key moments in the history of brands over the years and, as such, we feel that this campaign is the ideal way to illustrate M&S’ move into a new era.” We think this has revolutionised advertising campaigns, and we won’t be surprised if other brands start to up their game in the future. What do you guys think? [Catwalk Queen]

After her Gossip Girl character Jenny ‘Little J’ Humphrey was dropped from the show, it’s all been a bit quiet on the old Taylor Momsen front. (She does have her band The Pretty Reckless which she is the frontwoman of, but it’s not really our cup of tea…) Models on the other hand are our cup of tea, which is why we’re quite excited to learn that she has just been signed to Next Model Management – one of the biggest agencies in the world – who has the likes of Alexa Chung, Jessica Alba, Rita Ora and Lana Del Rey in its books. “I’m excited about my new relationship with Next Models,” she said. “Next has great vision, and will be a fantastic partner in furthering both my music and fashion.” 19-year-old Taylor is no newbie in the modelling world, as she already has some impressive modelling gigs under her belt; she was the face of Madonna and Lourdes’ Material Girl clothing line and has appeared in ad campaigns for New Look and a John Galliano fragrance. It’s already a busy week for the red carpet! Monday night saw the prestigious CFDA Awards take place in New York, and last night it was the turn of the Glamour Women of the Year Awards which were happening right here in London – at the Berkeley Square Gardens, to be exact. As we told you earlier, Victoria Beckham walked away with the ‘Woman of the Decade’ prize, but the best thing about her appearance (apart rom the fact that she took her very dapper looking son Brooklyn as her date) was her outfit. Sure, it was black which is big favourite with Posh, but it wasn’t one of her own designs – it was in fact Maison Martin Margiela which came as a pleasant surprise. Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays debuted her new longer hairstyle (and also showed us how her baby bump is progressing) on the red carpet, while new yummy mummy Fearne Cotton showcased her post-baby figure in a bright blue dress. Also brightening things up on the red carpet were Myleene Klass and Les Mis star Samantha Barks, who both wore bright fuchsia dresses, while Jessie J also went for an interesting, eye-popping blue ensemble. Kylie Minogue didn’t put a foot wrong on the red carpet either, as she followed in Kate Middleton’s footsteps by stepping out in a gorgeous peach dress. Peach is definitely having a moment! There’s always a reason or two to congratulate the highly successful Victoria Beckham, and now here’s another one. Last night VB was crowned ‘Woman of the Decade’ at the Glamour Awards – and we couldn’t think of a better winner! Congrats, Posh! As hubby David Beckham was away on business in Miami, she took her gorgeous eldest son Brooklyn to the awards as her date; aww! ‘I want to congratulate all the women,” she said on receiving her accolade. “I love to support women… Girl power. “Thank you Brooklyn my date tonight and the most handsome man in the room avoiding homework. Mum and dad, my husband who supports my dreams and Simon Fuller. “What an amazing 10 years, I’m blessed to have two careers and in nearly 10 years I will be nearly 50.” Is it just us, or does that make you feel quite old? Victoria wasn’t the only big winner of the night though. Mulberry’s Emma Hill won the ‘Best Accessories Designer’ award, Clare Waight Keller won the ‘Fashion Designer’ prize, Jessie J walked away with the ‘Editor’s Special Award’, The Saturdays were crowned ‘Best Band’, Les Miserables actress Samantha Barks won the ‘Pandora Breakthrough’ award and Rita Ora won the ‘Solo Artist’ prize – and was given her accolade by none other than BFF Cara Delevingne. Aww! Do you think Victoria Beckham was a worthy recipient of the Glamour ‘Woman of the Decade’ award? [Daily Mail]
