Pippa Middleton vs. Emmy Rossum: Who wore Tabitha Webb better?

Red carpet looks will always remain the rage, but when two people wear a more casual look so differently, our fash-off radar goes into overdrive! It’s a clash between Hollywood royalty and British part-royalty this week, with Emmy Rossum and Pippa Middleton taking on the frock-off challenge in two differing looks. Pippa opted to wear the Tabitha Webb summer blossom dress to the Waitrose summer party, held in London last week. Accessorising with nude pumps and a beige clutch, Pippa sported her signature glossy locks and a very rosy pop of colour on the cheeks. Smug, sister-of-the-future queen smile as standard, of course! But bringing a sunnier spell to the style forecast was Emmy Rossum, who took the Tabitha Webb dress for an outing in the Beverly Hills sunshine last month, beating our Pips to it. Emmy’s accessorising took an unexpected twist, as she carried a red shoulder bag and wore pale green sandals. A slick of colour on the lips and a long necklace completed Emmy’s polished off-duty look. But who takes the fash-off champ title? Both ladies are refined dressers, but there can only be one winner…and for us, it’s Emmy! Thanks to Emmy’s bold red bag, the pastel pink colour and soft summer blossom print is uplifted, preventing the shade from washing her out. Pippa looks fab, too, but her look screams matchy-matchy, which, in fashion speak, is boring! Considering her sister is the (future) queen not just of the country, but of dress recycling, too, we’d love to see how Pippa would style this dress off-duty. Do you agree with our fash-off verdict? Jaime King vs. Bella Thorne: Who Wore Katie Ermilio Better?

We’re suckers for printed ensemble, so when we laid eyes on this week’s fash-off beauties, we couldn’t contain our excitement! Spotted in a fabulously printed two-piece from the Kate Ermilio, Jaime King and Bella Thorne battled it out for the title of style champ at two different events, sporting two very different looks. Although the catwalk look carried a longer skirt, Jaime King snipped the hem, instead opting for a below-the-knee version at the Kate Spade 20th anniversary party, back in February. She also left out the peplum detail on the skirt’s waistline. Finishing off her look were glossy curls, black pumps and a strong red lip. Slipping into the same outfit a few months later in April, Bella Thorne stayed true to the longer catwalk look. Taking to the red carpet for the premiere of Iron Man 3, Bella opted for a statement necklace, top-knot and a punchy lip and nail colour. Black peep-toe heels completed the look. We love a personal spin on a runway ready look, but it also makes the decision process harder! So, after much deliberation, we’re letting Jaime take the style crown! The all-over print almost swallows up Bella’s petite frame, and we think her look would’ve worked better with a shorter skirt. A statement necklace atop a statement outfit is a bit much; the eyes or lips, not both, rule applies here (well, kinda), and those chunky heels do no favours! Jaime’s look is fresh, making us reach for all those printed pieces tucked away in our wardrobes. Image credits: Jaime King, Bella Thorne

Alexa Chung vs. Audrey Tautou: Who wore Valentino Red better?

For this week’s fash-off, two beauties from either side of the Channel bring their A-game to rightfully take their place under the style spotlight. Brit beauty, Alexa Chung, and our favourite ‘Coco Chanel’ this side of the 21st century, Audrey Tautou both wore the same Valentino number, albeit  a few months apart. Alexa was the first to take to the red carpet in the pretty tea-length dress at the 2013 Grammy Awards, back in February. Sporting her signature, popping red lips and wispy, swept back locks, Alexa finished off her look with ankle strap crystal pumps, also by Valentino. Second in line to slip into the dress was French beauty Audrey Tautou, who injected a copious dose of gamine charm into the opening photo call for Cannes 2013. Bestowed with the duty of mistress of ceremonies at both the opening and closing of Cannes 2013, Audrey sure took her role seriously in the fashion department, pairing the tea-dress with nude pumps and going virtually makeup free. But who takes the honourable title of fash-off champ? Both ladies went sans accessories, and put their own slant on the dress, but the overall look was a definitively girly one. Although we’re struggling to decide, we’ll have to give this one to Alexa, simply for jazzing up the entire outfit with crystals on her feet and a red pout. The dress is quite a subtle colour, so needs a little lift, and Alexa’s styling does just that. Audrey’s look, on the other hand, was saccharine sweet but a little too washed out for liking. Do you agree with our fash-off verdict?

Katy Perry vs. Selena Gomez: Who wore Dolce & Gabbana better?

When we saw the spring/summer 2013 delight that was the Dolce & Gabbana show spill onto the runway, we couldn’t wait to see the A-listers snap up the tropical prints for when the barometer went up. And safe to say, we weren’t disappointed. Style darlings, Selena Gomez and Katy Perry, both opted to put their spin on the same bustier top from the Dolce & Gabbana spring 2013, and both looked equally exotic in their own right! Bieber’s beau was up first, pairing the printed, midriff baring bustier top with a high-waisted orange pencil skirt and nude Giuseppe Zanotti pumps at the 2013 SXSW Music, Film + Interactive Festival premiere for Spring Breakers, back in March. Glossy, side-swept curls, strong eyes and a popping coral lip polished off Selena’s look nicely. Making merry at the Lacoste L!ve 4th annual desert pool party last month was a girl after our own hearts, in the most summer-tastic outfit imaginable! Soaking up the rays at the event, which was held during Coachella, Katy Perry paired the bustier top with a playfully printed skirt from the same collection. White platform shoes, statement earrings, sunnies and a vintage Lulu Guinness bag completed Katy’s look. Now, after digesting so much print and eye-popping colour, we’ve got the tough task of deciding who takes this week’s fash-off champ title. And…Selena Gomez has done it for us this week! Although we absolutely approve of Katy’s all-out take on the Dolce look, those chunky platform heels don’t really do it for us. Selena’s sharp and sleek styling is perfect, not to mention making us squirm thinking about working towards that beach bod! Her minimal accessories won us over, as with Katy’s look, there’s just too much going on. Agree with our fash-off verdict? Who wins for you?

Stacy Keibler vs. Ashley Tisdale: Who wore Rebecca Minkoff better?

Famed for her cute-meets-practical bags, designer Rebecca Minkoff’s clothing line is equally as covetable. So when we spotted two Hollywood lovelies in said designer’s wares, we couldn’t help but report back to our lovely readers! Arriving on the sets of EXTRA in LA, Ashley Tisdale sported a Rebecca Minkoff ensemble we couldn’t frankly take our eyes off! Made up of the Della Eyelet skirt and Kai Eyelet Bustier top, Ashley’s curve-skimming look was completed by Vivienne Westwood ‘Isabelle’ pumps and soft, side-swept curls. Second in line to sport the same look in a cut-out back dress version, was the leggy lovely and oh-so-lucky girlfriend of George Klooney, Stacy Keibler. Attending the opening of the Tracy Anderson flagship studio in Brentwood, California, earlier this month, Stacy opted to accent her look with bright red lips, hoop earrings, glossy locks and nude sandals. Both ladies look equally stunning putting their own spin on this hot-to-trot Rebecca Minkoff outfit, but only one can rightfully claim the style champ title! And…Stacy’s stolen the show and done it for us this week, thanks to her perfect shoe choice. Ashley carries off the look well, too, but the ‘Isabelle’ pumps are a little too chunky for our liking when paired with such a feminine silhouette. Thoughts on our fash-off verdict; do you agree?

Kate Upton vs. Jennifer Love Hewitt: Who wore Alexander McQueen better?

There’s only one way to pitch this week’s fash-off: let the battle of the ladies in red commence! At style loggerheads this week is Vogue cover girl, Kate Upton and Hollywood darling Jennifer Love Hewitt, as both ladies sported the same Alexander McQueen cowl neck silk crepe dress, albeit to two very different events. First up, Jennifer Love Hewitt painted the red carpet, well, red last May, at the A&E Network event in New York. Going sans accessories, Jennifer teamed the McQueen number with tan platform pumps and strong eyes, leaving her softly tousled hair down. Fast forward to February 2013 and Kate Upton was spotted slipping into the same dress for an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, in New York. Radiant and gorgeous as ever, Kate teamed the McQueen dress with black Louboutin pumps and a beaming smile. Although both Jennifer and Kate opted for a similarly simple look, who’s style is worthy of the fash-off accolade? Sorry Jen, but we’re digging Kate on this one – the tan pumps don’t really do much for the dress. Other than heels, a McQueen dress doesn’t really need much else to have us gushing in awe, so have to be a good choice! Whose style wins for you? Do you agree with our fash-off verdict?

Gemma Arterton vs. Shailene Woodley vs. Amber Valletta: Who wore Stella McCartney better?

Judging by the popularity of a particular Stella McCartney ensemble, it’s a triple fash-off this week! Spotted in the same form-fitting Stella McCartney tuxedo jumpsuit, actresses Gemma Arterton, Shailene Woodley and model Amber Valletta have firmly fallen on our style radar. Cast your minds way back to February 2012, when Stella McCartney threw THAT lavish party during London Fashion Week (the one that included crazy, models-dancing-on-tables antics, and a very cosy looking Rihanna and Kate Moss). Attendee Amber Valletta was the first to slip into the tux jumpsuit for the event, oozing every bit the model glamour she’s carved a successful career out of. A simple black clutch and ankle strap heels accessorised the look, whilst slicked back hair and strong eyes completed the look. Shailene Woodley gave the tux jumpsuit its next outing at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, last June. Styled with Stella McCartney sandals (natch), Shailene opted for a messy fishtail plait and went sans accessories. And, finally in the fash-off line-up, Brit beauty Gemma Arterton wore the tux jumpsuit to the 2012 British Fashion Awards back in November. Styled with wedges by the same designer, a handheld cross-body bag and an orange bracelet, Gemma sported softly tousled waves and neutral makeup. But whose look steals the fash-off champion title? We’re rooting for Gemma on this one for one simple reason: she oozes oodles of confidence, whereas Amber and Shailene – who look equally as amazing – seem a little vanilla in comparison. The alternative thought to styling and soft curls bring a feminine edge to the near-androgynous style of the tux jumpsuit, and Gemma gets the balance just right! Whose look wins for you?

Adriana Lima vs. Jada Pinkett Smith: Who wore Alberta Ferretti better?

When Jada Pinkett-Smith stepped onto the red carpet for the Tokyo premiere of Men In Black 3 last May, dapper dressed husband Will in tow, it was a certified style moment. She wore stunning, white Alberta Ferretti Spring 2012 gown, with cut-out detail running along the waistband and down the side. A natural contender for Best Dressed on several celebrity style portals, a double take on the angelic white look took place when, only last month, supermodel Adriana Lima stepped out in the same dress for the II BrazilFoundation Gala Miami 2013. Putting her own spin on the look, Adriana opted to wear the dress back-to-front, preferring instead to show off a little bit of her money-spinning cleavage with a cowl neckline. Both ladies opted for a side swept, glossy down-do, whist Jada accessorised with a matching box clutch, and Adriana opted for statement drop earrings and her famed Brazilian glow. In the battle of the frocks this week, who rocks for you? Our style champ is the lady who got first dibs on the dress, Jada! Although we love Adriana’s innovative approach to styling said gown, there’s something ethereal and classic about Jada’s look, and we can’t really get over how sartorially harmonious Jada and Will’s red carpet pairing is. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’s missus steals the style crown this week, but do you agree with our fash-off verdict?

Rihanna vs. Nicole Richie: Who wore Tom Ford’s crocodile dress better?

When Tom Ford’s crocodile dress debuted on the red carpet last year, courtesy of Barbadian beauty Rihanna, we knew it was going to be a massive hit. Well, not many people can successfully replicate Rihanna’s style with the same level of bravado. But then Nicole Richie, too, made her croc debut in the same dress, (albeit a slightly modified version) and a fash-off naturally ensued. Taking to the red carpet at the 2012 Met Gala, Rihanna wowed us in a floor-length, Fall 2012 Tom Ford crocodile dress that showed off her enviously toned body to perfection. The stunning singer kept her makeup to a minimum, opting for a dark nail colour and a flawless complexion, letting her personality escape through a retro-fierce up do. Putting a spin on the Good Girl Gone Bad’s look was Nicole Richie, who wore a cropped version of the same dress, complete with power shoulders, to Clive Davis’ 2013 Pre-Grammy Gala back in February. Looking every inch the fashionista we know her to be, a swept back bob cut and signature strong eyes, accessorised with a black clutch, Louboutin pumps and a slick of red on the nails completed the look. But who is the official style trophy stealer here? It’s a difficult decision given both ladies’ serious style credentials, but there’s only room for one fash-off champion…And it’s Rihanna, hands down. Her every style move (when she is clothed, that is) makes us go gaga and she even appeared on our Met Gala Best Dressed list (natch), so we couldn’t really betray the high priestess of cool! Nicole, we love you, but Rihanna’s daring approach to dressing wins over your vanilla rendition of the croc dress!

Candice Swanepoel vs. Michelle Dockery: Who wore Peter Pilotto better?

Masters of print, design duo Peter Pilotto know how to make a woman look good in a dress. And the two women competing for our attention in said designer’s dress this week are Victoria’s Secret Angel and all-round gorgeous lady, Candice Swanepoel, and Downton Abbey superstar, Michelle Dockery. First up, Ms. Swanepoel floored us with her fashion moves, as she slipped into the stunning flamenco-inspired printed panel dress at the Victoria’s Secret 2013 Swim Collection Party, last month. Looking enviably tanned and toned, the leggy lovely completed her look with a slicked back top-knot and black Louboutin pumps. But beating the South African beauty to it was English rose Michelle Dockery, who wore the same dress back in January to the Entertainment Weekly pre-SAG awards party. Opting for a chic, wispy up-do, Michelle accessorised her look with drop earrings, a box clutch and red pumps. Both ladies looked equally stylish in their print-tastic dresses, but there can only be one style champ! And with that said, Michelle lands our winning vote. Although we want Candice’s impossibly perfect body, the overall look is a bit harsh, and maybe tumbling locks would’ve been a better option. Black pumps are a little boring too, almost blending the look into one, matchy-matchy outfit. Michelle’s softer hairstyle and red pumps bring the extra glam factor to her look. Disagree with our style verdict? Tell us why, below!

Freida Pinto vs. Emma Stone: Who wore Burberry Prorsum better?

Putting their own spin on a beautiful peplum corset top from British fashion house Burberry are two leading ladies who always hold up in the style stakes. First up, Freida Pinto wore hers on the Burberry Prorsum autumn/winter 2013-14 front row, with sleek, emerald tailored trousers and a peep-toe wedge heel. Accessorising her look was a slick of black on the nails, a neon yellow shoulder bag and a sash tie around the waist. Flowing locks and a pop of red on the lips finished this look with finesse. But beating her to it was the gorgeously girly Emma Stone who wore the same top to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards back in November. Emma stuck to a similar colour palette on her bottom half, but instead opted for a statement sequin skirt. A sweetly side-swept long bob and black pumps completed Emma’s look, not to mention her signature rosy glow. So, whose look lands your vote? For us, just as she was back when she first appeared in this look, Emma Stone is the winner hands down! The look oozes glamour, and, as much as we like Freida’s tailored style, Emma’s glitzy skirt had us positively blinded by fashion joy at first sight! Do you agree with our style verdict?

Julianne Hough vs. Khloe Kardashian: Who wore Kaufmanfranco better?

A zingy gown is a no-brainer when it comes to falling on our style radar and this week’s contestants certainly put the fizz into fashion! Julianne Hough and Khloe Kardashian are the ladies at style loggerheads, after slipping into the same neon yellow (slang for citrine, should you care), floor-length Kaufmanfranco gown. But thank the style heavens they didn’t step out at the same time, or on the same red carpet…! No, because Julianne actually sported said gown back in June 2012, when she took to the red carpet for the Hollywood premiere of ‘Rock of Ages’. Teaming the silk crepe statement number with colour-pop lips and a twisted top knot completed her look. Lamar Odom’s missus, on the other hand, wore the same gown to Elton John‘s annual Oscars viewing party in West Hollywood, last month, opting instead to leave her glossy locks down and accessorising with earrings similar to Julianne’s. But whose look came out on top? Was it Julianne’s playful style, or Khloe’s demure pose and flowy tresses that get your vote? For us, Julianne is the clear winner, because THAT wowser neckline deserves a some serious showing off, and Khloe’s down-do doesn’t do it any justice. Are you in with our verdict, or did you want to see the Kardashian kueen krowned style star (geddit?).

Katy Perry vs. Li Bingbing: Who wore Gucci better?

One dress, two stars: the ultimate fash-off accessory this week is a summer-perfect, minty-fresh dress from Gucci’s Resort 2013 collection. Chinese actress and singer, Li Bingbing, was the first to slip into said dress at the 49th Annual Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan, last November. Opting to pretty much replicate the look exactly as it was shown on the catwalk; Li carried a platinum clutch and swept her hair away from the face, to reveal the ornate floral neck detail. Katy Perry also sported the same dress to the 2013 Grammy Awards, but decided to offer up more than just a statement neckline! The key-hole neckline (that’s polite for boob window) was more than stretched, after Katy spilled her ample cleavage into the stunning dress. A neutral palette on the face, strong eyes and glossy black locks completed her look. Two very different looks were achieved with an identical dress; with Li taking a more demure approach to the well-endowed Katy. But whose look do you prefer? Although Katy did make our Grammy’s Best Dressed list, the ample cleavage on display is quite a distraction, almost battling it out with the decorated neckline for attention! Both ladies look equally exceptional in the dress, but Katy’s overly-revealing look is a little, well, hard to ignore. Li, you get our vote this week! Do you agree with our fash-off verdict?

Freida Pinto vs. Lea Michele: Who wore Valentino better?

Freida Pinto vs Lea M in Valentino For us, Valentino is a major fashion crush, and when two of Hollywood’s leading ladies battled it out in a rather stunning creation by said designer, a fash-off was inevitable. Making her mark as the Lady in Red at the Dubai Cares and Oxfam ‘One Night Lives’ Charity Gala, Freida Pinto looked remarkable in a vintage version of the gorgeous strapless gown. Opting for swept back hair and accessorising with only a Roger Vivier ‘Boite de Nuit’ clutch, Freida’s look is on point for such a jaw dropping dress; over-accessorising would kill that old school glamour look this gown exudes. Beautiful! You’d be crazy not to recreate a classic Hollywood look for the next generation of red carpet striders, and, Valentino being the savvy fashion house it is (no one does glam rock better), Lea Michele was spotted in a similar style gown to Freida’s from the Resort 2013 collection at the 2013 SAG Awards. Rocking a hot shade of fuschia, Lea opted to keep her sleek tresses down and accessorised with nothing more than a cocktail ring and drop earrings. Again, perfectly under-accessorised, because, well, the gown pretty much does all the shouting! So, who’s Valentino look vies for your attention? Freida’s sensuous red, or does Lea’s vibrant and modern fuschia pink tug at your heart strings? Well, considering we’re cooing over old school Hollywood glamour, Freida’s look agrees with us, and swept back air is the way to go if you want to channel the charm of Hollywood’s bygone glitterati. Whose look do you prefer?

Alexa Chung vs. Chloë Moretz: Who wore Simone Rocha better?

We love a style stand-off between two seriously credible fashion mavens, and who better to pit against each other than Brit fashion force, Alexa Chung, and the inimitable young style star, Chloë Moretz! Alexa and Chloë wore the same spring 2013 Simone Rocha dress, opting for different colours, and rocked it in their individual ways to perfection! Alexa was up first, wearing a black version of the embroidered organza dress, embellished with outsized daisies, to the 2012 British Fashion Awards. True to her ultra-cool style, Alexa accessorised her look with a lady-like top handle bag and embroidered Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Belle Epoque’ mesh booties. Her hair had that perfect Parisian gloss to it, whilst makeup was kept to a minimum, accented only by feline eyes. Chloë Moretz started off 2013 with a bang, when she wore the same dress to the People’s Choice Awards last month. The 15-year-old, who is already considered a serious style contender amongst the fash pack, opted for a fun neon colour (an age-appropriate choice for a young fashionista) and accessorised her look with black Casadei ‘Blade’ pumps and a slick of colour on her nails; such a loud dress really needs nothing more. So, how are we expected to choose between two pristinely dressed ladies when both look equally fabulous?! Alexa picked up her third gong for the ‘British Style’ Award on the night (no surprises there), and Chloë racks up red carpet style praise like its going out of fashion, but there can only be one winner… We love how artfully constructed Alexa’s look is; those embroidered booties would never work, but there’s nothing Alexa cannot pull off! However, we did inhale deeply with awe when we laid eyes on Chloë’s eye-opening look, so she kinda steals the fash-off champion title this week (sorry Alexa!). […]

Kim Kardashian vs. Charlize Theron: Who wore Stella McCartney better?

Oooh, its reality royalty meets Hollywood royalty in this week’s fash-off, as both Kim Kardashian and Charlize Theron slip into the same Stella McCartney dress! Albeit the said starlets wore the gorgeous dress 12 months apart, the striking similarities in the styling are, well, striking! Charlize Theron got first dibs on the stunning lace creation, featuring a peplum top and cut-out side panels, when she stepped out on the red carpet for the BAFTA Los Angeles’ 18th annual Awards Season Tea Party, last January. Charlize dressed up her near-neutral look, accented with daffodil yellow lace, with a strong red lip, side-parted, slicked back hair and a nude Bottega Veneta Intrecciato clutch and heels to match. But, bang on one year later and one day later (yes, really), Kanye’s beau Kim Kardashian stepped out in the same dress, accompanied by the same colour on her lips and similarly coloured heels, as she made her way to the NBC Studios for her appearance on the Today Show. Although Kim left her glossy locks down, the dress looked very different on the two ladies, with Charlize’s near 5ft 10in, statuesque build and Kim’s curvy frame complementing the peplum trend in different ways. So, whose look do you prefer? We’re putting Charlize as our winner on this one, because we love how the slicked back hair keeps the focus on her dress, and the burst of red on the lips stops the look from going too pale. Kim, on the other hand, looks great, too, but we can’t help think that the hair sprawled over her shoulders, combined with an, erm, blessed bust area makes for an overly busy look, and conceals the beautiful cut-out design. Although we still don’t quite understand how the Queen of Everything waited a whole year before donning the […]

Emma Stone vs. Anna Dello Russo: Who wore Rochas better?

It’s a tough one this week, as we’re faced with two of fashion’s most forwardly dressed ladies! Although Anna Dello Russo has first dibs on nearly every item of clothing that graces the runways before the entire planet even gets whiff of them, Emma Stone beat the vivaciously attired editor-at-large to it! Showing off a stunning creation from the Fall 2012 Rochas collection, Emma looked a dream as she attended the Tokyo premiere for The Amazing Spider-Man back in June last year. Going prim all the way – in line with dress’s ladylike, drop-waist silhouette – Emma wore Christian Louboutin bow pumps and sported a softly-done updo. Anna Dello Russo, on the other hand, steers clear of the conventional style path and always seeks to add a much welcomed twist to her well-documented looks. And you didn’t expect her to wear a simple brown dress, well, in a simple way, did you? Throwing out the basic rules that apply to statement accessories, and throwing the brightest bag, heels and earrings into the mix, our fave fashion personality gave the street-stylers much to pap outside the Miu Miu Spring 2013 presentation during Paris Fashion Week in October. She wore Miu Miu booties (natch), ADR x H&M earrings (double natch) and a super-statement making Paula Cademartori bag. Who wins? Emma Stone? Why? Well, as much as we do love an eye-ball popping ensemble from ADR during Fashion Month and beyond, this pretty Rochas number didn’t really need such harsh colours to dress it up. Emma’s dainty, feminine styling wins hands down!

Khloe Kardashian vs. Noomi Rapace: Who wore Valentino better?

Valentino dresses are the stuff of dreams, and that’s why we get super-excited when doing a little celeb-spotting in said designer’s wares! The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace and Khloe Kardashian made an appearance in the same Valentino lace dress, albeit to two very different events. Noomi was the first to don the stunning emerald green dress with a cut-out back at the Venice Film Festival, back in September. Looking gorgeous on the red carpet, Noomi accessorised with black platform pumps, a geometric design clutch, small cocktail earrings and a strong red lip. One third of the Kardashian sister trio, Khloe opted for the same Valentino dress (one of her three outfits of the evening!) for the America X Factor season finale. Sporting a kick-ass tan, Khloe paired the dress with gold hardware, pointed ankle boots and added a leather and metal waisted belt to the mix. Opting for nude makeup and the biggest rock imaginable on her finger, Khloe wore her hair in an updo with wispy tendrils for a softer look So, to decide who wore Valentino best is a difficult task, as every creation to come out of the design house’s atelier leaves us in state of breathlessness! But there can only be one fash-off champion, and this week that accolade goes to…Khloe K! Valentino is renowned for mixing elegance with a healthy dose of sexy (one look at the luxe Rockstud collection and you’ll figure that mix out) and Khloe’s take on this pretty dress measures up to that fashion philosophy perfectly. Noomi, too, looks amazing, but a bit too red-carpet vanilla for our liking, unlike Khloe, who brought her own to the X Factor red carpet! Agree with our fash-off verdict? Whose look do you prefer?

Olga Kurylenko vs. Olivia Munn: Who wore Peter Pilotto better?

The festive break if officially over (ugh!), which means it’s time to get back to our style dissecting ways. Although the influx of Christmas calories means we can’t exactly face slipping into that slinky dress scored in the sales, the A-listers are still at it, fast becoming subjects of our never-ending jealousy! Uber-stunning Bond girl, Olga Kurylenko sported a digital-print dress from the Peter Pilotto Fall 2012 collection for the InStyle annual Summer Soiree back in August 2012. The gorgeous actress paired her velvet cut-out panel dress with a Christian Louboutin clutch and heels, and decided to leave her glossy hair swept to one side. Stealing Olga’s limelight two months later was Olivia Munn, who opted for the same dress at the 2012 Courage in Journalism Awards, held in Los Angeles back in October. The fresh-faced beauty went for a slicked back look, pairing her dress with T-bar Christian Louboutin pumps and scraped back hair – perfect for showing off the beautiful cut-out shoulder detail. Although both leading ladies looked painfully hot in the same dress, it was Olga’s ladylike stance and brimming smile that made us fall in love with her take on the dress. We love how she’s kept the look simple, and flowing locks are great for a less dressy approach to green carpet dressing! Bond girl steals the shows this time. Sorry, Olivia!

Krysten Ritter vs. Delta Goodrem: Who wore Christian Dior better?

Show us a raspberry pink dress, and we’re there. If it’s a raspberry pink Christian Dior dress, we’re obsessed! And that’s exactly how we feel about this week’s one-dress-two-girls situation. Don’t Trust the B***** In Apartment 23 star, Krysten Ritter and Aussie songstress Delta Goodrem both donned the same Fall 2012 Christian Dior dress merely weeks apart, and both leading ladies brought their own. Krysten was first in line, wearing the gorgeous tulle pleated skirt dress to a Pre-Emmy party in West Hollywood, back in September. Krysten opted for black panties under the sheer skirt, and finished off her look with Jimmy Choo heels and clutch, diamond earrings and raspberry stained lips. Last month, Delta wore said dress to the Melbourne Cup in Australia. Unlike Krysten, Delta opted for a lined skirt, accessorising with nude ballet flats (worn due to an injury) and a rather interesting floral headpiece. Glossy waves, a rosy complexion and dark nails completed her look. Well picking this week’s fash-off champ isn’t much of a difficult task… Delta’s cranial flower garden-cum-headpiece is nothing short of RIDICULOUS. We’d expect to see it in a fashion editorial, maybe, or on Anna Dello Russo’s head during Fashion Month, but at a sporting event? Really? From the face down, this look is fabulous, and we think the flats work nicely with the dress’s balletic silhouette. But Krysten’s tough take on this pretty dress is the real scene stealer here. We love the choice of dark underwear and her side-sweeping bangs looks fab, too! The grey heels are a little drab, but top marks for making us sit up and notice this look! This week’s fash-off winner, hands down! Whose look do you prefer?

Emily Blunt vs. Pippa Middleton: Who wore Roksanda Ilincic better?

Both English roses; both royalty in their respective lives, Emily Blunt and Pippa Middleton took to the style stakes in a stunning creation by Roksanda Ilincic. First up, Emily attended the Germany photo call for ‘The Five Year Engagement’ back in June in the ‘Amu’ dress from the Pre-Fall 2012 collection. Looking resplendent in the red wool-crepe cowl-neck dress, Emily paired her look with nude peep-toe booties and her signature glossy bob. We particularly love the unexpected details this seemingly simple red dress has to offer: navy back-panel and a striking yellow trim that runs down the side. Also slipping in to Roksanda Ilincic was our very own (potential) Lady-In-Waiting, Pippa Middleton, who wore a slightly modified version of the same dress to the launch of her party planning book ‘Celebrate’ back in October. Pippa opted for a burgundy hue, choosing to go easy on the accessories and teaming her look with simple black pumps. Her minimalist approach here reminds us of big sis Kate, although the future queen is known to throw a statement clutch or jacket into the mix every so often! So, who wins in the style stakes? Roksanda Ilincic is every high-flyers go-to designer for head turning dresses, and we think both ladies in questions pulled off their looks with aplomb! But being a fash off, there can only one (real) winner, and for us, Emily steals the show in red! We prefer the sleeveless look with a heavier neckline, and the bold colour pops to perfection. Pippa, too, looks fabulous, but the burgundy colour (although very a/w) is slightly yawn-inducing. Not much to ‘Celebrate’ with this look (pun intended). Do you agree with our fash verdict? Whose look are you digging?

Salma Hayek vs. Anne Hathaway: Who wore Stella McCartney better?

Stella McCartney’s beautiful creations grace the super-toned bodies of several celebrity-supes daily. And given the Designer of the Year gong she picked up at this year’s British Fashion Awards, we’re not surprised. So when we spotted gorgeous ladies Salma Hayek and Anne Hathaway in the same Resort 2013 fringed frock by said designer, we couldn’t fight off the urge of an inevitable fash-off! Anne Hathaway was the first to give the fringed number an outing, when she wore it for an appearance on the David Letterman show back in July, teamed with her signature pixie crop. Her look was rather vanilla for our liking, but she still looked nothing short of fabulous. Salma Hayek was second in line to don the fringed frock. Bringing a little LBD fun to the British Fashion Awards 2012 red carpet, Salma topped off her look with a chic top knot, Guiseppe Zanotti pumps and Boucheron jewellery. An LBD with a twist – in this case, the Twenties-inspired fringing – is always a winner, and props to the both ladies for doing the dress justice in their own way. But being a fash-off, there can only be one winner… Anne Hathaway steals the show this week with her simple-yet-effective take on dressing an LBD. The detail on the dress warrants an overall subtle look, and we think Anne’s minimal make up, pixie crop and simple black pumps add to that appeal. Salma, although looking super-hot in her LBD, went a little overboard with the uber-glam hairdo. Teaming a stunning (read: super expensive) diamond necklace with a high neckline is jewellery suicide – that necklace would sit better with a lower neckline. Salma’s look is a little too busy for our fashioned-out peepers! Do you agree with our style verdict? Whose look do you prefer?

Meghan Markle Wore A £24.99 H&M Dress

Yes, you read correctly…Today, the Duchess of Sussex paid a visit to the Mayhew Animal Welfare Charity (of which she is the royal patron) wearing a cream £24.99 maternity dress by none other than H&M. As it’s a dress we can all afford, expect it to be sold out by the time you’re done reading this post. Sadly, that’s where the budget fashion comes to an abrupt halt. To brave the wintry weather, Meghan opted for a beige Armani wool coat and accessorised with Manolo Blahnik slingback’s and Stella McCartney’s Falabella tote. We’re loving the fact that she’s coming out of her comfort zone with regards to colour but we’re not so sure this is an appropriate outfit to wear to an animal charity? Something more comfy perhaps would have worked better.

Jessica Lowndes vs. Allison Williams…Who rocked pink better?

Is pink the new red on the red carpet? Excuse all associated puns, but this year’s Academy Awards threw some unexpected looks our way, and, boy, were we pleased! Two such ladies making it straight to the top of our frock wars list are Jessica Lowndes and Allison Williams, who both took to the red carpet in exquisite pink gowns. And, although their looks aren’t identical, our favourite shade on the spring/summer 2014 rainbow has resulted in a one dress, two girls situ! Thinking pink (sorry) at the 22nd Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party was Jessica Lowndes, who opted for a bubblegum pink, strapless gown. Accessorising with a pale mint clutch, matching earrings and strappy gold sandals; heavy eye make-up and a glossy up-do completed the look. Catching up with the 90210 actress, however, was Allison Williams, who also wore an exquisite pink Emilia Wickstead dress to the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscars party. Although it was a demure display, the dress featured an open back, contrasting beautifully with the high neck detail. Rounding off the look with large studs and a clutch, side-parted, slicked back hair and a glowing complexion completed the look. So, who wins this frock-off, then? Both ladies turned heads at their respective occasions, but, for us, Allison takes the style crown! There’s something utterly majestic about her modest-yet-sexy effort, don’t you agree? “I think it is better to be stylish than trendy” – Miley Cyrus, Fashion, November 2013

It doesn’t look like we can go a single day without something new from Miley Cyrus popping up; earlier this week we gushed over her Harper’s Bazaar magazine cover, yesterday we dissected her brand new music video in great detail, and today it’s all about her appearance on Fashion‘s November issue. Yes November issues are already been released -where has the time gone, eh? Miley was photographed by Chris Nicholls, and is rocking a Kufmanfranco dress for the striking, attention-grabbing front cover. Inside the mag, as well as posing for some gorgeous pictures (not a single poked-out tongue, foam finger or wrecking ball in sight) Miley opens up about that MTV VMA performance, her relationship with Liam Hemsworth, and her taste in fashion… “I can go through so many clothes say ‘no, that’s not me’ right away. I’m so adamant and controlling and OCD about my work that I can scare some people—especially when it comes to clothes,” she said. “I have a very specific style of my own and I think it is better to be stylish than trendy. I find vintage Celine or Chanel and mix it with athletic or vintage pieces makes a look modern and fresh. Vintage makes everything look punk.” And what about her Gwen-Stefani-esque outfit she wore while arriving at this year’s MTV VMAs?  “I found what I wore on the red carpet to the VMAs with Pharrell. It was a Dolce and Gabbana piece from 1992—the year I was born. He saw it and said, ‘you have to buy it.’ I think that outfit added a factor that the other girls couldn’t compete with. “Pharrell says it’s not about what you’re wearing; it’s the way you wear it. That was a lesson I took to heart. I think it is important that I […]

Rita Ora vs. Heidi Klum: Who rocked Alexandre Vauthier Couture better?

We love a good old fashion face-off, and this week’s style rivals do it in some very beautiful outfits. Supermodel Heidi Klum wore a stunning, gold, guipure lace dress from the Fall 2012 Alexandre Vauthier Couture collection to the 2012 American Music Awards earlier this month. However, back in September Jay-Z’s protégée Rita Ora wore the same outfit, albeit in a peplum suit version, for the MTV Video Music Awards after-party. Both ladies looked exceptional in their respective outfits, and even opted for the same matching Christian Louboutin guipure lace pumps, but there can only be one queen to the style throne with this look! And this week’s style crown goes to…* drum roll*…wait for it…Rita Ora! By now, you’re probably pretty aware of the immense love we have for risk takers in the A-lister land of fashion, and Rita’s tailored rendition of Heidi’s pretty-but-safe dress gets top marks from us! As much as we adore Heidi’s killer pin-flashing look, it almost feels too tried-and-tested. We love Rita’s risqué neckline, matching heels and signature kooky sunnies which give this prim couture look a fashion forward edge. Do you agree with our verdict? Which look do you prefer?

Rita Ora vs. Gwen Stefani – Who carried off McQ Alexander McQueen better?

Last week Rita Ora donned a stunning, black tulle tutu dress with colourful floral appliqués from the McQ McQueen Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, and we instantly fell in love with it – again! Because only a few weeks back, Gwen Stefani was styled in a similar tulle floral appliqué skirt from said collection for the October cover of ELLE UK. With both ladies being equally edgy in their own way when it comes to fashion, it goes without saying that this popular McQ McQueen look was styled very differently on them. Leading the way was No Doubt’s leading lady, who was styled by ELLE’s senior fashion editor, Natalie Wansbrough-Jones. Gwen wore the tulle floral appliqué skirt with an Autumn/Winter 2012 Peter Pilotto top, for a graphic cross between digi-print and 3D embellishment that only someone with the style prowess of Gwen could carry off. Rita wore the McQ McQueen black tulle tutu dress to the 2012 MOBO Awards, where the 21-year-old ‘Shine Ya Light’ singer picked up the gong for ‘Best Newcomer’. Completing her look was that preened-to-perfection blonde wig, her signature strong lip and gold bracelets, and strappy gold DSquared2 sandals. But who really pulled off this runway-perfect design? McQueen’s pieces never fail to leave us awestruck when they appear on the catwalk, but did the stylish ladies in question do the designs justice? We’re going with Gwen and her directional take on this one. Don’t get us wrong, Rita looked amazing, too, but when compared to the Jurassic Park-esque, Dilophosaurus frill-effect the dress carried on the runway (totally magic, we tell you), Rita’s flattened tulle neckline just didn’t cut it. It looked like a lazy effort to prevent Rita’s face from being hidden all evening, and for us, ruined the look. Gwen, on the other hand, well, can we ever […]

Marion Cotillard wore Dior Couture for The Dark Knight Rises London premiere

It was the European premiere of the new Batman film The Dark Knight Rises last night, but it wasn’t the only premiere of the evening… This was the first time Raf Simons’ Christian Dior Haute Couture collection was seen off the runway – and on none other than the always impeccably dressed face of Miss Dior, Marion Cotillard. (We’re crossing our fingers that we could see the other Miss Dior beauty Mila Kunis in a piece from the new collection too!) Marion wore a light orange bustier top tucked into a high waisted black and white houndstooth skirt, which was finished off with a waist cinching black skinny belt and an assortment of red accessories in the form of shoes, a clutch, and of course, lipstick! We didn’t think those colours would have worked that well  together, but Marion has definitely proved us wrong! The vintage Hollywood hairstyle finished off the chic and classy look perfectly. Raf Simons couldn’t have chosen a better lady to debut his work!

Style Jury: Rihanna vs. Beyonce

Both R&B Queens, huge fashion icons, and most importantly both fabulous; this one is a toughie. We don’t know about you but we’re not a massive fan of the Denim trend, let alone full denim, yet of course, both RiRi and Beyonce show it’s possible for them to wear any trend and nail it. Let’s start with RiRi; the singer was spotted in Beverly Hills with her mother on a shopping spree. Not only is her outfit cool but casual, her hair even while tied up and practical oozes laid back beach glamour. On the other side is Beyonce, one half of music’s biggest ever power couple (sorry Britney and JT that double denim catwalk combo was just catastrophic) not only is she a music Queen (amongst other things) but she also helps rule the fashion world, and she is killing it in double denim. Although she and partner Jay Z have been battling rumours of marriage problems, she shows the world that nothing will stop her from dominating the style world along with RiRi which is what makes this ‘who wore it better’ edition a hard one to decide. Unlike Rihanna however, Beyonce wasn’t being snapped out and about. This picture was posted on her Instagram and official website accompanied with the hashtag ‘#mylife’ – a devotion to Blue Ivy maybe? One thing they both did which distinguished them both from the crowd was accessorize. Rihanna chose a leather cap to add a bit of her signature bad girl edge to the ensemble, along with a denim Juliette Jake Wraparound Clutch which complimented the outfit perfectly, and then finished off the outfit with some sleek nude heels. Beyonce on the other hand opted for a pair of bang on trend Cazal round framed black tinted sunglasses, Christian Louboutin Foillies […]

The Old Money vs New Money Aesthetic Style Divide

There’s no better way to understand old money style vs new money style than by taking a look at the style icons who embody each aesthetic When you think of the old money aesthetic, certain names immediately come to mind right? Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy…these women weren’t just fashion icons; they were the embodiment of understated elegance. Their style was like a whisper in a world full of shouts – soft, subtle, but impossible to ignore. Grace Kelly, with her timeless sophistication, could make a simple white shirt and pencil skirt look like a million bucks. Audrey Hepburn’s little black dress in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” became the gold standard for chic simplicity. And who could forget Jackie Kennedy’s pillbox hats and tailored suits? These women didn’t need flashy logos or over-the-top accessories to make a statement. Their style was all about quality over quantity, refinement over ostentation. More present day old money style icons include Sofia Richie and Kate Middleton. The Bold and Beautiful New Money Style Now, let’s zip forward to the present day. Brilliant Tips For An Effortless Seasonal Wardrobe Change

The changing of the seasons is the perfect opportunity to fully reevaluate your wardrobe and switch things up! As the weather transitions from hot to cold in the fall, it’s time to put away your summer clothes and bring out your cozy sweaters, long sleeves, and warm jackets. Put your winter clothes away when the winter chill gives way to spring’s warmth, and break out your light, bright spring and summer clothes. Going through all your clothes, deciding what to keep and what to tuck away for the next season, can seem like an intimidating task. But a seasonal wardrobe change allows you to revive your style, ensure you have weather appropriate options ready to wear, and prevent closet clutter. Follow this comprehensive guide to make your seasonal wardrobe change as seamless and stress-free as possible! 1. Thoroughly Evaluate Your Current Wardrobe The first critical step in a seasonal wardrobe change is taking stock of what you currently have in your closet and dresser drawers. Set aside ample time for this process – it’s important! Be Ruthless: Clear Out the Clutter Be brutally honest about items that need to be removed from your wardrobe rotation. Anything you did not wear at all last season should go – trust us, if you didn’t wear it, you probably won’t wear it during the next year either. Immediately get rid of anything that: Be sure to check jacket pockets, purses, and bags for items like lone gloves or hats and reunite any sets. Check underwear and sock drawers and discard any with holes, tears, or elastic that has lost its stretch. Categorize and Organize Your Closet Next, thoroughly go through everything that remains in your wardrobe and thoughtfully organize your closet by clothing category – shirts, pants, dresses, sweaters, jackets, etc. Hanging or shelving […]

Streetwear Trends That Are Actually Vintage

Many may be into fashion trends and modern designs, but streetwear is the right choice for comfort. You might be thinking streetwear is all about skateboarders, K-pop, hip-hop fans, or surfers, but there is more to streetwear than what meets the eye. Streetwear may seem unimportant to some, but it has taken the fashion world by storm and democratized it. What was once related to a subculture group of fans is now a growing industry with influencers and celebrities turning the spotlight on streetwear.  Streetwear is no exception, with the whole fashion industry turning back for inspiration to the ‘80s and ‘90s. If you check the most loved vintage clothing online, you will notice that nostalgia is the new trend. Streetwear Screams Vintage The streetwear collections may look trendy and changing, but they are designed with a 20-year-old foundation. Yes, the fashion industry is taking advantage of streetwear and turning it into clothing with high price tags that few can afford. But before going out and spending tons of money on trendy streetwear, try roaming through your family closets. You might find inexplicable treasures that will make you the most fashionable person on the block. Here are a few streetwear trends that you wish to follow but are vintage pieces with a new and more contemporary adjustment.  T-shirts T-shirts are the synonym for streetwear, but they are actually one of the oldest vintage fashion pieces. What was once worn by men as an undershirt was later made a popular fashionable piece by James Dean? Today we cannot imagine a closet without a t-shirt in it. We all have one, whether it’s a plain one that we own in different colors or a graphic t-shirt with printed slogans or trendy designs.  You can visit thrift shops and find some rather exciting […]

Why 2022 is the Perfect Year to start creating Your Own Clothes

If you’ve always wondered what it would be like to create your own clothes, maybe this is the year you should finally do so. Why? Because in 2022, anything goes. You can choose to go with bright colours, or stick to white. You can go for a mini skirt or be fully covered up, from neck to toe. You can even go back in time to your favourite era, from a 50s revival by wearing foulards like Audrey Hepburn wore, to a 60s go-go look or even 90s colourful clothes. Let’s examine this year’s fashion more closely. Creating Your Own Style Those who like to design things, such as clothes, usually have a tendency to be creative in unique ways. The best of them will end-up with their own fashion line, when it comes to clothes. And although you may not dream of becoming the next Dior or Gucci, you may still find yourself quite popular with friends around you, asking you to create some pieces of clothes for them as well. If that is so, make sure to insert a woven or printed label inside them, so that if someone you don’t know likes them as well, they can go online and look for you. Of course, you will need to be present on the internet, in one form or another. But then again, opening a Facebook page for your brand, will take you all but five minutes… It may also be a great idea to add a laundry label, so that those you sell your clothes to, treat them the right way. You can find both labels at https://wunderlabel.com/. From Lockdown to Freedom There is no better way to understand today’s fashion than to look at the recent past of humankind. If there are so many different styles offered […]

Three Classic and Timeless Jewellery Essentials to Add to Your Wishlist

Whilst jewellery trends come and go, classic and timeless pieces will never be out of fashion. The jewellery you wear can quickly become a reflection of your personality and an intricate part of your personal style. After all, when we watch Sex and the City, we know Carrie wouldn’t be Carrie without her Carrie necklace, and Paul Mescals’s simple chain in Normal People became more famous than he did, causing a generation of men to start wearing jewellery again. So, what is your jewellery style? And what does the jewellery you wear say about you? To help you find the perfect everyday pieces for you, here are three classic and timeless jewellery essentials to add to your wishlist: Simple Chains, Layered The layered necklace trend has been around for years, but its popularity shows no sign of waning. What we love about this trend is that it’s so easy to adapt to suit any situation. If you’re after a subtle look or want to be understated for a formal occasion then you can wear just one or two chains or if you want to make a big impact or create a high-fashion look then you could layer a dozen. We love the chains available from Oak and Luna Fashion Jewellery, which were made to be layered. Each piece is elevated with small charms, gemstones, or initials, allowing you to layer them together and create a look that is truly unique to you. Classic Name Necklaces One piece of jewellery that you can invest in now and that you’ll never regret buying is the classic name necklace. The name necklace, featuring a nameplate written in simple script, was first made famous by Carrie Bradshaw in the original six series of Sex and the City. Now that the reboot has arrived and […]

Cinematic Denim: Unforgettable Men’s Fashion Jeans in Films

You might get denim inspiration from the catwalk, social media, or fashion magazines. But a lot of us tend to forget that movies have also played a big role in shaping fashion jeans for men. From film sets to the red carpet, Hollywood’s biggest stars have worn designer jeans for men for decades, inevitably making them a coveted trend. Despite being produced as industrial workwear pants, men’s designer jeans are now a universal wardrobe staple for men all over the world. Fortunately, today we can buy men’s fashion jeans in just about every style, fit, and color from small boutique shops to online men’s trendy clothing stores like Differio.  In the mood to switch up your style with some movie inspo? From men’s colored jeans to summer-ready jorts, here are some unforgettable movies with noteworthy denim moments worth rewatching.  Retro Straight-Fit Jeans in Rebel Without A Cause (1955)  James Dean plays one of the most iconic characters in a distinct ensemble that’s gone down in bad-boy history. Playing the role of troubled Jim Stark, his character is best known for wearing a bright red bomber jacket paired with a white t-shirt and men’s fashion jeans with a straight-leg fit. Long before jeggings were invented, men’s designer jeans from the fifties era were generally made from pure denim textiles without any spandex or elastane.  To recreate this retro look, avoid super-stretchy jeans to stay true to the authenticity of the decade. You’ll want to find trendy men’s jeans in medium-wash denim that run straight from the hips to ankles. Don’t forget to finish the outfit by heavily cuffing the ankles.  Rockabilly Tapered Jeans in Grease (1978) Grease was filled with timeless fashion moments from Olivia Newton’s black spandex pants to John Travolta’s edgy leather jacket. More importantly, the T-birds showcased retro-inspired […]

5 Must-Know Tips for Planning A Wedding

Planning a wedding can seem pretty daunting. With so many things to tick off that long list in your wedding planner, it can be difficult to know where to start. While there are the obvious things to do, such as choosing a venue and deciding on who has made the bride squad, there are some things that get overlooked. Here you can learn 5 must-know tips for planning a wedding. You may not realise it now, but you’ll be grateful for these tips in the long run! 1. Make a Guest List Before Choosing a Venue While it’s exciting to decide on where you’ll be tying the knot, don’t get too ahead of yourself. You may fall in love with a venue and then later down the line, come to realise that it doesn’t have the capacity to accommodate your guests. In the very early stages of planning, after all the engagement celebrations, make a guest list. Once you’ve confirmed roughly how many people will be attending, you’ll be able to choose a venue accordingly. 2. Consider a Date Carefully You may already have a specific date in mind, perhaps it’s the date he proposed or when you became an official couple, however you should do some research around it. If there’s a major sporting event in town, this could affect not only the availability of accommodation in the area, but the cost too. The last thing you want is for your guests to be spending a small fortune on a place to rest their head at the end of the night or worse, to not find accommodation at all. Check out the date you have in mind before you set it in stone. 3. Don’t be Afraid to Ask If you don’t ask, you don’t get. Instead of wondering […]

Why Not Rebel Against These 5 Wedding Traditions?

Remember when Gwen Stefani wore that breath-taking silk dip-dyed pink Dior wedding dress by the genius that is John Galliano? It was fantastic and we loved the fact that she personalised her big day rather than stick to the norm. Seeing as we’re all for breaking the rules here at MFL, we’ve compiled a short but sweet list of five ways you too can go against tradition on your wedding day. 1. Opt for non-traditional bridesmaid dresses and go all black. According to retailer, Coast, the most popular bridesmaid dresses after purple, is black and grey. Yes it seems a tad morbid, we agree, but with the right accessories, it could be quite vintage-glam. Coast has a gorgeous selection of options. We love this lace maxi dress (pictured above). 2. Have the groomsmen catch the bouquet! You might be hard pushed to convince a group of men to stand around and grab a bunch of flowers all in the hope of being next in the running to tie the knot. In fact, chances are they may not even attempt to make the catch. But, if you’re successful in your endeavour, it’ll add a bit of fun to your big day and it’s sure to be a talking point amongst the guests!  3. Pull a Zoe Saldana and have your hubby take your last name. Quite controversial we know….and admittedly Marco Perego-Saldana came under fire for his decision. But, we think it’s very sweet, and so did Zoe, this is what actress had to say to those who frowned upon their choice. “Fathers, sons, brothers, men everywhere: Your legacy will not perish if you take your partner’s surname, or she keeps hers. I’ve been made aware that a comment I made regarding my marriage has garnered some attention. I felt proud that my husband decided […]

Victoria Beckham was named Britain’s most successful entrepreneur, Beyonce’s been nominated for 5 Grammy’s and this year saw Malala Yousafzai become the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate. The Spice Girls must be proud! So what better trend to end the year with than the ultimate fashion symbol of female empowerment – the cape. Is it just us or do you immediately picture Superwoman when you see the cape too? The cape stole the show at Solange’s wedding, Angelina Jolie gave the fashion item her seal of approval in a Saint Laurent velvet cape last week and Kylie wore a casual cape by FAY while out and about in London over the weekend. There’s a ton of caped options available at the moment and we love this collarless cape blazer courtesy of Lavish Alice. Pair with matching trousers and killer heels for an alternative to the party dress. Lavish Alice Collarless Cape Blazer, £54 available at ASOS.

It’s now Dame Angelina, to you. Her Majesty the Queen presented Angelina Jolie with an Honorary Damehood on Friday, in recognition of all her work against sexual violence. The event took place at Buckingham Palace with Brad Pitt and their six children proudly in attendance (although they weren’t in any of the official photographs). “To receive an honour related to foreign policy means a great deal to me, as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to,” Angelina said. “Working on PVSI and with survivors of rape is an honour in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime, and I am dedicated to it for all of mine.” Such powerful words from a woman so truly deserving of the honour. And of course we have to mention how chic and elegant Angelina looked for her royal visit… Angelina wore an elegant grey skirt suit from the Ralph & Russo spring/summer 2014 collection (one of Angelina’s go-to designers of the past few years – and one which has been favoured by Kate Middleton herself!) and looked absolutely beautiful from head to toe. We love how she once again championed the British Couture designers – and Buckingham Palace couldn’t have been a better place to showcase their work! Congratulations Dame Angelina Jolie for your well-deserved honour. Keep doing what you’re doing!

All the details from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s secret French wedding

After months, heck even years, of speculating, we can reveal that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally tied the knot. Congrats to one of Hollywood’s biggest and most beautiful couples! Brangelina secretly got married in a non-denominational ceremony in a small chapel at Chateau Miraval, France on Saturday (the sneaky so and sos!) with their entire brood – Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox and Vivienne – all playing a part in the wedding. Aww! We can’t be mad at them for keeping it hush hush now! While details on the undoubtedly radiant bride’s dress are few and far between and there’s no sight of pictures (yet!) a ‘source’ told E! News that her dress was “comfortable but plain white floor-length antique lace and silk”, and she reportedly accessorised with “a small gold locket with a photo of her mom (Marcheline Bertrand) inside it. “Brad lifted her veil and gasped because she looked so stunning,” the source continued. “The boys all wore tiny matching cream linen suits which were just like Brad’s (tux). “The girls had each chosen a dress to match their own individual style and they had them specially made.” Aww – does this story get better and better or what? We know that Brangelina are a very private couple so we do respect their privacy, but all our birthdays and Christmasses would come at once if we could get one tiny peek at Ange’s dress. Congratulations again, guys! [E! News]

Laura Robson is all smiles in Preen at WTA Pre-Wimbledon Party

As it’s the first day of Wimbledon today (come on Andy Murray – you have the whole MFL team behind you!) we thought it was only right to feature one of our favourite female British tennis players. The beautiful Laura Robson attended the WTA Pre-Wimbledon Party held at Kensington Roof Gardens at the end of last week, and championed some fab British designers in the process! She wore a striking blue dress from the Preen spring/summer 2014 collection which complemented her raven lock and glowing tan, and teamed it with some Sophia Webster pumps and a great big smile. So big was her smile that the bandage on her left hand initially went unnoticed. That’s the spirit, Laura! We hope your hand gets better soon – and good luck! We’re rooting for you!
