Lusting after: Pippa Middleton’s Jimmy Choo Zeta clutch

Upstaging the bride in the style stakes is the cardinal bridesmaid sin. And when that bride is the future Queen of England, you’ve got another thing coming. Instead of merging into the haze of stellar guests at Westminster Abbey on 29 April, the hottest chief bridesmaid on the planet and sister of Kate Middleton, Pippa, turned up the fashion heat a notch or 10. Wowing us with a stunning cowl neck McQueen creation for the main ceremony and accruing some well-deserved derrière appreciation in the process, Pippa slipped into a demurely sexy emerald green Temperley gown for the evening reception at Buckingham Palace. But we simply can’t take our eyes of her sparkling clutch. Pippa accessorised with an eye-catching champagne-hued Jimmy Choo Zeta sparkle clutch, which we think adds extra oomph to her decorously elegant look, and the glitter effect is offset perfectly against the jewel-toned gown. Doubtlessly, Jimmy Choo is the go-to brand for seriously stylish party pieces, and having accessorised several guests at the Royal wedding, Tamara Mellon has got a lot to smile about. Pippa’s subtle-hued version is just as gorgeous as the delicious gold and bronze glitter version we’re lusting after. You can get yours for £265 at JimmyChoo.com here.

Long live McQueen: the luxury label’s having a moment

It started on Friday with the royal wedding, and it continued on Monday at the Met Ball – now, it’s safe to say McQueen’s having a moment. Thanks to Sarah Burton’s already-iconic wedding dress for Kate Middleton, McQueen’s the label on everyone’s mouths, and last night’s Met Ball did nothing to stop the word spreading. Celebrating the life and work of the late designer, the Costume Institute Gala has just opened its New York doors to an exclusive exhibition, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, and this year’s annual Met Ball paid tribute to the man himself Monday night in a specially-themed evening which saw eight stars wearing one piece or another from his eponymous label. Naturally, we’re feeling a little patriotic right now and have decided we want in on the action, so we’ve rounded up our five favourite McQueen must-haves to snap up in celebration. Pippa Middleton: an emerging style icon

If there’s one way to shoot to success overnight, you can bet it’s being the maid of honour at your sister, the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding. Before Friday, Pippa Middleton was known as Kate’s lesser-known, slightly-uglier sister, but when she stepped out in her Alexander McQueen gown at the royal wedding, she caused quite the stir. With a rear perter than most – she now has an Ass Appreciation Society on Facebook with over 170,000 fans at time of publishing, by the way – she’s found herself at the forefront of fashion chatter as an emerging style icon, and we, for one, are rather intrigued by her new-found celebrity. Here, we delve into the style of Kate’s younger sister to see what all the fuss is about… Pippa shares her sisters affection for the high street, and stepping out for her very public departure the day after the wedding, she chose a classic royal blue blazer from Zara costing £69.99. It’s reserved and regal, made modern with white skinny jeans, but it’s an appropriate choice for the occasion. Classic and elegant, Pippa’s perhaps a bit more daring in her choice of colour and cut of dress that Kate. For her sister’s reception at Buckingham Palace, she opted for an emerald floor-length silk dress by Temperley with a plunging neckline and embellishment under the bust. A tad risque for the royals, but she totally pulled it off for the evening occasion. If we’re to believe the rumours that emerged before the royal wedding on Friday, Pippa was supposedly rather vocal towards what her bridesmaid dress should be like. While we very much doubt that was the case, it takes a killer figure and serious confidence to pull of a McQueen dress like that (sorry, we couldn’t resist the obligatory bum shot). […]

Met Ball 2011: best dressed

We’ve just about recovered from the excitement of the Royal wedding with its vast array of stylish guests and, of course, Kate Middleton’s breathtakingly beautiful McQueen gown – but the weekend hit us with more star-studded events as the Met Costume Institute Gala landed in New York last night. The Met Ball brings the best of the fashion, film and music industry together for a night of fabulous fashion and exhibitions, and this year’s gala was hosted by none other than Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who honoured the late Alexander McQueen with an exhibition called Savage Beauty. Naturally, the prestigious event is harder to get into than Wonka’s chocolate factory, so we’ve cast our sartorial eye over the fashion elite who bagged a Golden Ticket and strutted their stylish stuff on the red carpet. Here’s our top 10 best dressed from last night’s Met Ball…   Ashley Green She may play a vampire in Twilight, but Ashley Green managed to look positively angelic in a custom Donna Karen strapless gown. The nude voluminous tulle was adorned with silver sequins that trailed into a wedding-like train. Teamed with a sleek up-do and touches of sparkle in her ears, clutch and cuff, she looked positively radiant. Jessica Alba Always one to look utterly fabulous on the red carpet, Jessica Alba didn’t disappoint at last night’s Met Ball dressed in a custom Ralph Lauren platinum strapless bustier gown covered in a sparkly crystal-encrusted overlay that highlighted her growing baby bump. Blake Lively Being the face of Chanel has been a dream come true for this Gossip Girl starlet, and last night she was joined by Mr Karl Lagerfield himself. Naturally, Blake opted for Chanel couture by means of a nude embellished dress covered by silver-lilac a chiffon sash to flaunt her fabulous figure too much. Beyoncé […]

British fashion reigns at the Met Ball

For an event that usually champions the best of American fashion, last night’s Met Ball saw a surprising amount of stars wearing gowns from British designers. Perhaps it was a nod towards last night’s honouree, the late Alexander McQueen, who’s life and work was celebrated in an accompanying exhibition, Savage Beauty, or maybe the world hasn’t quite recovered from royal wedding fever just yet – but either way, the Brits ruled the red carpet. Dressing the most celebs was Stella McCartney – also clad in her own label – who decked out an impressive 14 stars in her dresses (save a jumpsuit for Iman), including Rihanna, Naomi Watts, Eva Mendes, Maggie Gyllenhaal and BFFs Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Thandie Newton and Madonna. Also high up on the most-spotted list was, unsurprisingly, Alexander McQueen. Sarah Burton wore a white dress by her own design to honour her friend and mentor, while Daphne Guinness, Naomi Campbell, Gisele, Coco Rocha, Anna Dello Russo, Karen Elson, Racquel Zimmerman and Salma Hayek and Sarah Jessica Parker all paid tribute to the designer. And the list of Brits doesn’t stop there – Erdem dressed Lily Donaldson in a floor-length navy lace gown, Burberry bagged Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to wear a satin rose gown and nude python clutch, and Alexa Chung wore new-season Christopher Kane. Stay tuned for our round-up of the best and worst dressed from last night’s Met Ball.

Lunchtime buy: Alexander McQueen meadow print gown

After waiting for what seems like a lifetime, the Royal Wedding has arrived (catch up, it’s about to go again), and we, like the rest of the world, are sending our congrats William and Kate. We’ve had wedding fever for quite some time, let us tell you, so while we wait for the first snaps of Kate’s dress to make their way through the wire, we feel it’s time to turn our addiction up a notch and covet a big white dress of our own. McQueen’s meadow print gown may be reminiscent of a wedding dress with its luxurious ivory silk-chiffon fabric and sweeping layered skirt, but heck, we’d wear it any day of the week given half a chance. The subtle meadow print makes it perfect for any summer soiree and sweet strolls along the sand, too. We’d like ours for the start of this season’s imminent occasions, please. And did we mention it’s got 70% off? Alexander McQueen meadow print gown, £6080 £1,824, available at theOutnet.com. BUY NOW!

Love or Hate: Alexander McQueen angel drape dress

With the Royal Wedding on Friday, speculation about Kate’s dress has gone fever-pitch. Everyone’s got their own opinion on who the lucky designer will be, but my money is on Alexander McQueen. The label is famed for producing iconic British creations and I think it would be an incredible tribute to the man if Sarah Burton were to design it. But enough about Kate, you could be your very own princess for the day in this show-stopping Alexander McQueen angel drape dress. Made from the finest cream and green silk, it really is an ethereal masterpiece. The embroidery consists of fine silver coils and crystals, beautifully constructed into the shape of angel wings, and the intricate back has a hem falling lower than the front, giving it a slight train. This really is an once-in-a-lifetime dress which needs no accessories. With all that crystal embellishment, a small pair of diamond studs would suffice just fine, and keep shoes and bags super-sleek for a look which is all about the dress. Alright, so I don’t actually have close to ten thousand pounds to spend on a dress, but if I did, this would be my dream one. I don’t know what Kate Middleton’s dress will be like, but if McQueen is involved, I’m sure it’s an outfit we’ll remember for years to come.   Alexander McQueen Angel Drape Dress, £9,135, available at Browns. Is Sarah Burton next in line at Dior?

As it stands, LVMH’s Bernard Arnault has insisted Dior is in no rush to name John Galliano’s successor – but while his candidates have suggested Riccardo Tisci, Tom Ford, Hedi Slimane, Olivier Theyskens, Nicolas Ghesquière, Alber Elbaz, Haider Ackermann and Prabal Gurung are all in the running for the top spot, the latest designer to enter the firing line is none other than McQueen director, Sarah Burton. While Riccardo Tisci may have been tipped the highest candidate to leave his current role and enter the world of Dior – even though he strongly states he’s happy at Givenchy – it now seems Ms. Burton is next in line to scoop the coveted role, though many may find this hard to believe given her complete dedication to carry on the late Alexander McQueen’s work. But apparently, Bernard Arnault is so transfixed by the royal family that if Burton has designed Kate Middleton’s wedding dress – which is something the fashion house strongly deny – then her chances of being offered the job would increase dramatically, reports the Cut. Just another reason to watch the royal wedding unfold next Friday!

Chanel also branched out into the fragrance industry, launching her famous Chanel No. 5 perfume in 1921. Ropes and Ropes of Pearls: How Our Grandmas’ Jewelry is Our New Obsession

You have probably heard a dozen times that pearls are making a huge comeback. Thrown in a corner of shade and oblivion for a few years by diamonds and statement bling, pearls waited patiently to return in the spotlight and regain their former glory. If you ask some specialists, pearls never went out of fashion, not even for a second. However, they were left aside as ceremonial jewelry for weddings and sweet sixteen celebrations – demure staples of femininity but too quiet to shine as bright as modern accessories. But everything changed in 2014 and since then, pearls are the new diamonds in town, proving once again that Coco Chanel was a visionary and a woman way ahead of her times. The famous designer once said that women needed “ropes and ropes of pearls” and her words were repeated throughout history. But are we still living the Jackie O. times, or are we wearing pearls in big, bold designs to match our contemporary jewelry frenzy? Taking a look back, we can clearly see that pearls overcame their “demure” reputation and turned into veritable statement pieces all women are dying to wear. How Did Pearls Become So Popular? The answer to this question can be easily found on runways and last years’ fashion shows. As per usual, Chanel set the tone, the music and the scene for one of the boldest and most original comebacks in history. Chanel’s spring 2014 fashion show brought larger pearls in chunky, massive and high-end contemporary designs and the world followed. Soon, Karl Lagerfeld displayed massive pearls as well on the catwalk. Oscar de la Renta placed the pearls on booties, while Simone Rocha adorned everything with pearls, including knee socks. A year later, Honor and Lanvin sent a cascade of pearls on their runways during […]

Style Jury: Kate Middleton vs Naomi Watts in the ultimate LWD!

It’s a regal competition today! TV and Film royalty, Naomi Watts faces off against… well, actually royalty in the form of Kate Middleton! Both ladies were seen stepping out in an LWD (little white dress) fit for a princess. With Naomi wearing the crochet dress during a commercial for Jacobs Creek, whilst Kate sported the dress not only during her tour Down Under earlier this year, but also at Wimbledon! Naomi Watts looks absolutely breath-taking. The summery dress is the epitome of evenings in the sun with a glass of wine. From the vineyards behind her to her natural tousled hair to her simple thread bracelets, Naomi glows. Her natural make-up accentuates the easy-going nature of her dress, making her look impossibly pretty. Kate wore the dress sometime later, and both styled their dresses very similarly. With both ladies opting for low-key accessories and make-up, it’s a tough call! Ever since that wedding dress Kate has become something of a Goddess to us mere mortals. Boys fancy her, girls want to dress like her, and we personally want to be her. Rarely putting a fashion forward Louboutin out of place, Kate graces royal events like their her own personal catwalks. Verdict:So who emerges our style queen?! It’s a close one, but Naomi edges it. Kate’s make-up seems heavier than Naomi’s and her pearl drop earrings and watch add unnecessary fuss that Naomi avoids. It basically comes down to the fact that Naomi looks as if she woke up, splashed some water on her face, and wore an amazing Zimmermann dress…. And managed to look stunning. I think I hate her. In a totally irrational ‘I want to be you’ sort of way.

Our Top 5 Fashion Photographers

In this social media world where everyone over the age of eight has a smartphone with a camera and in which street style fans are obsessed with finding the perfect lens to capture those great shots, it seems like everyone is a ‘photographer’. But they have a long way to go to reach the heights of the true fashion photography greats. Here’s a list of our five fave photographers in the biz, and the things we love about them: Mario Testino Probably one of the most famous, successful, respected and wealthy photographers in the world – and that isn’t just a coincidence! Why else would the Peruvian economics graduate be trusted with photographing the Royal family time and time again? He shot the late Princess Diana for Vanity Fair back in 1997, and more recently he caught Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement on camera for the world to see too. He’s also Anna Wintour and Christopher Bailey’s go-to man when it comes to those respective Vogue cover shoots and Burberry ad campaigns, although those aren’t the only things he spend his time on. Over the years, it’s no exaggeration to say that he just might have shot the majority of the celebrity world, with some of the people posing for his camera including Lady Gaga, Naomi Campbell, Cara Delevingne, Gisele, and so many more. What a pro!   Annie Leibovitz Another American Vogue/Anna Wintour favourite – although Annie Leibovitz hasn’t always just been photographing the stars for the biggest fashion glossy in the world. We love the photographer for her infamously controversial pictures including the John Lennon and Yoko Ono nude embrace shot, Angelina Jolie naked in the bath tub (pictured above), and a pregnant (and of course, nude) Demi Moore on the cover of Vanity Fair. And somewhat […]

2 ways to wear the Precis Petite Rose fascinator

We have the Epsom Derby this Friday, and the Royal Ascot also fast approaching, which means it’s time to get those races outfits sorted. One of the most distinctive parts of a races ensemble is the headgear; whether you choose to wear a hat or a fascinator (depending on where you’re sitting though, a hat might be your only option!) we know that there are endless styles to choose from, making the choice somewhat overwhelming. However, we think this Precis Petite Rose fascinator is the best of both worlds. And at such a versatile colour, it’s the ideal piece to wear again and again; races, weddings, the lot! Here are two ways to wear it: Option 1 New Look strappy open toe heels, £24.99 || Jaeger paisley dress, £220 Option 2 Coast Blanca dress, £115 || Charlotte Olympia sling-back pumps, £568

Kate vs. Diana…Who wore red better during the New Zealand tour?

Wore what: Kicking off their royal tour of New Zealand, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge landed at Wellington airport’s military terminal yesterday – cutest babe-cessory in tow – looking every inch, well, regal. For the official occasion, Kate chose a striking red Catherine Walker coatdress and matching pillbox hat, and the media was quick to remind everyone of the same occasion, over three decades ago, when the late Princess Diana chose a similar look for the same event. Although hers was a black and red look, complete with a contrasting black clutch, Kate wins for the most adorable royal accessory, hands down. Narrowly avoiding puddles before the world’s media, whilst effortlessly carrying an excited 9-month-old in your arms is no mean feat; and we think Kate did a beyond fantastic job! Unsurprisingly though, this makes the job of choosing a winning look near impossible! Who wins: Famed for her gentle nature and beauty that shied away, Princess Diana’s look for the official visit back in 1983 was a fashion triumph: making coats cool as the centrepiece of a look. And this is a tradition that Kate, too, has carried on. From her M Missoni look as a wedding guest to the Maxmara number named after her; she’s elevated the humble coat’s status to party staple so effortlessly, we all want in. Given her respectful ode to Diana’s legendary wardrobe at such an important event, and the fact that we’re struggling to get over the explosive levels of Prince George’s cuteness; we declare both looks as winners. Do you have a favourite look, or are you, too, stuck on both? [Images: Duchess of Cambridge; Princess Diana]

Prince George’s official Christening pics released

They might be a darn sight more formal than any of our family pictures, but as far as Royal Family portraits go, Prince George’s officially Christening pictures are definitely on the informal side of the spectrum. The pictures were taken by photographer Jason Bell in the Morning Room of Clarence House. Prince George is being held by his stunning yummy mummy Kate Middleton, and is joined in the picture below by his proud dad Prince William, as well as The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camila Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry, and the Middleton clan – Michael and Carole, Pippa and James. And James’s beard, which we feel should get its own mention. As we mentioned on Wednesday, Kate Middleton wore a cream Alexander McQueen outfit that was made for her by Sarah Burton – the brains behind her wedding dress – and accessorised with a Jane Taylor hat. Her sister Pippa Middleton complemented her outfit perfectly, wearing a Suzannah ensemble in a similar shade. What do you think of the modern Royal Family portraits?

Fill the Kate Middleton void with the ultimate ‘Kate’s Style’ book

Kate Middleton is only days away from giving birth to the future heir to the British throne, which means she’s probably putting her feet up and relaxing in the privacy of her own home. However, her impending motherhood means that we won’t be seeing her performing her royal duties as much as we’d like, which in turn means that our style stalking is going to take a bit of a back seat. Upsetting times, indeed. Don’t despair though, as lifestyle journalist and author Caroline Jones has stepped in with a comprehensive Kate Middleton style file. It documents 40 of Kate’s style hits (not an easy task!) and analyses them in a neat, well-presented, easy-to-understand package. “It took six months, and I started by poring through thousands of pictures of Kate from the last ten years and picking the 40 looks I felt were the most beautiful, iconic or unique,” Caroline told us. “It was hard to narrow it down to just 40 to be honest because she has worn so many gorgeous outfits!” We know it’s not the first K-Mid style file to be published, and it sure as heck won’t be the last, but we think it’s definitely one of the best so far. The author not only documents and analyses Kate’s expertly put together outfits, but she also dishes out style advice so we, the readers, can emulate her style too. It’s not necessarily a copy and paste job, i.e. snapping up the very same outfits she wears, (as that in itself can be quite tricky given the speed in which clothes sell out after she has stepped out in them) but it’s more about knowing how she thinks when it comes to putting her outfits together. We sat down with Caroline Jones to ask her some questions […]

Treat her to…..an outfit for the races!

Excited for your day at the races? Why not be a great boyfriend (or hubby) and treat the lady in your life to her outfit. We know selecting an outfit for your significant other is a challenge at the best of times, let alone the races. Don’t let the strict dress code put you off – we have the perfect example of what is expect from racegoers right here, so feel free to seek as much inspiration from it as you want. This look is Royal Enclosure approved; if you can get in there (it has the strictest dress code of all the enclosures!) then you’ll get in anywhere! 1. Coast Mycah dress. Ok so like the majority of most outfits, the dress is one of the most important aspects so you want to get it right. Luckily, this dress is not only completely gorgeous, but it adheres to all the rules and regulations implemented in the very strict style guide. It’s a modest length, it has sleeves (strapless dresses or dresses with spaghetti straps are banned) and it’s not too in-your-face which means you can accessorise to your heart’s content! 2. John Lewis Neave structured feather hat. If you’re heading into the Royal Enclosure (lucky you!) then unfortunately fascinators aren’t allowed so she’s going to have to make do with a hat instead and pray it doesn’t fly off. This badboy from John Lewis is not only subtle it’s quite versatile too, which means she can do a Kate Middleton and recycle it for future weddings. 3. Dune Blissy striped clutch bag. She’ll want a bag big enough for all your betting slips, money (including her juicy winnings!), mobile phone and emergency lipstick, but not too big so that it distracts from your outfit. (Speaking of betting, don’t forget […]

Ascot ‘style guide’ released ahead of the races

Apart from weddings, christenings and lavish parties, Ascot really is one of the best excuses to don your prettiest dress, your highest heels, your sparkliest clutch bag and dress to the nines. The dress code for the prestigious racing event has, in recent years, been a bit misunderstood among newer racegoers, which is why Ascot has decided to release a very helpful style guide (along with an extended dress code rule book which was implemented last year), to make sure that no one gets it wrong on the big day! “It was the first time in over 300 years of racing that we have ever done anything like this,” said Charles Barnett, Chief Executive of Ascot Racecourse about the super-strict dress code. “Without a shadow of a doubt – the overall look of the whole site – all enclosures, was markedly improved. People want to dress up at Royal Ascot and are disappointed when others haven’t made the effort and respected the occasion, its traditions. “I think it gave people the confidence to be proud of dressing in a formal manner and appreciate what that actually means.” You can head to the official Ascot website to check out the new rules for yourselves, as well as see the style guide which was helpfully put together for some sartorial inspiration. Keira Knightley wears Valentino for Marie Claire UK May

Keira Knightley has indeed been tapped for the May issue of Marie Claire UK – and is wearing none other than red hot Valentino for the front cover! Eagle-eyed readers may be having a case of déjà vu, as it is in fact a reprint from Marie Claire US’s March issue, but don’t let that put you off. Au contraire, the images are just too gorgeous to not cross the Atlantic, and the interview is un-missable. Keira opens up about a number of subjects, including the one on everyone’s lips: her upcoming wedding to Klaxons keyboardist James Righton! “I could have six weddings,” she said. “God, that would be expensive. We’ve not big-wedding types. I don’t need to have all that. I’m just trying to enjoy the engagement bit. My parents are together after 40 years. The fights are there, but they love each other. “It’s not like the first three months, the first two years, whatever it is, but I think it gets more interesting, or I hope so.” We hope so, too. Keira’s Marie Claire UK May issue is out now!

Style Awards: Top 10 best dressed celebs of 2012

It’s safe to say, 2012 has been a positively chaotic year on many accounts: stealthy fashion musical chairs; the news of a 2013 royal tot, surprise (read: secret) weddings and a fair amount of heartbreak ensued. But one thing far more exciting than all of these juicy prospects combined is the FASHION we witnessed. From Miranda Kerr’s uber-stylish taxi-to-hotel hop, all endless, perfectly bronzed legs and the hottest off-duty ensembles imaginable, to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s ravishing red carpet looks, not forgetting some equally hot lingerie! Diane Kruger left us in a state of fash-induced hyperventilation, thanks to that Christian Dior couture gown whilst Emma Stone really established herself as the unturned stone (excuse the sorrowful pun) of fashion: she.looked.HOT. From Tom Ford to Trapstar, Rihanna has us on trend-led tenterhooks with every outfit she stepped out in, and Alexa, well, she’s just too stylish to even discuss, right? It was the probably the hardest thing we had to do – alongside trying to remember to use Saint Laurent instead of Yves Saint Laurent, and digesting news of R-Patz and  K-Stew’s brief split whilst admiring her red carpet looks – but choosing our 10 best dressed celebs of 2012 was a limiting task. After much thought, picking and choosing, editing and loudly conversing (read: arguing) over frills, hems and necklines, we’ve whittled it down to our Top 10. Here’s to 2012’s best dressed ladies…. Taylor Swift Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Rihanna Miranda Kerr Kristen Stewart Emma Stone Diane Kruger Blake Lively Anne Hathaway Alexa Chung Who was your best dressed of 2012?

Sarah Burton gets OBE, hopes to dress Kate Middleton’s bump

After having what we assume was the best moment of her career last year when she designed Kate Middleton’s stunning wedding dress, Sarah Burton’s 2012 hasn’t been too shabby either. Not only is she embarking on a new personal adventure (she is expecting twins!), her work at Alexander McQueen continues to be groundbreaking and inspired, and she just collected her OBE for services to the British fashion industry at Buckingham Palace as part of the Queen’s 2012 Birthday Honour’s List. Congrats, Sarah! The designer received her award from Prince Charles, and the pair reportedly talked about Kate’s iconic wedding dress, while also sending her congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on their baby news, saying “I’m over the moon for them.” And when asked whether she would be making any maternity clothes for the expectant Royal mother Sarah reportedly laughed and said, “I hope I will be”. Kate Middleton and The Queen complement each other at the Paralympics Opening Ceremony

Leave it to Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth II to colour co-ordinate for the stunning Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games last night. The two ladies who are always impeccably dressed didn’t disappoint us as they sat poised and ready to absorb the entertainment and do their royal duties at the same time. The Duchess of Cambridge wore an intricate beige coat dress by Danish Label DAY Birger et Mikkelsen, and naturally accessorised with her fave LK Bennett shoes and perfect, shiny locks. And yes, before you ask, you have seen it before; she wore it back in 2006 and then again at Zara Phillips’ wedding last summer, but who cares? She looks breathtaking! The Queen also showcased her style credentials in a light peach and silver coat dress, which she accessorised with cream gloves and a matching handbag. We do love our stylish royals, don’t you? We wonder where Harry was… [What Kate Wore]

Best of 2011: Kate Middleton’s year in style

Whether you love her or loathe her (and we don’t believe you if you do the latter), 2011 owes itself solely to one woman: Kate Middleton. Though her style remains distinctly average in our book (string us up and hang us for treason), there’s no denying the effect the Duchess of Cambridge has had on the world. And, since everything she wears sells out in seconds, the fashion brands she favours have got a lot to thank her for. Like everyone else, we’re kind of intrigued with her influence, so we’ve trawled through Kate’s best looks from this year to see her rise from pauper (ha!) to Princess in pictures, which has lead us to the following conclusions: 1) she’s a mega-fan of the high street, 2) she only wears a handful of designers and regurgitates them as necessary, 3) June was a particularly good month. Without further ado, here’s her year in style… January: Reiss Kate wears a Reiss ‘Nanette’ dress for her official engagement photos shot by Mario Testino, and the hysteria begins. April: Alexander McQueen Just another white dress. We’re kidding! Kate gets married in a jaw-dropping Alexander McQueen dress designed by Sarah Burton and the world stops in its tracks. April: Zara The new Duchess of Cambridge steps out the day after her wedding in another high street dress, this time from Zara. The world applauds her for remaining the peoples’ Princess despite being an official royal. May: Reiss Kate meets Michelle Obama for the first time; everyone gets excited about the pair’s fashion politics. Kate opts for another Reiss dress, nude in colour with a boxy neckline and panelled waistband. June: Jenny Packham Her first charity gala since getting married and Kate opts for a glistening champagne-pink gown by Jenny Packham, which skims the floor […]
