The Cult of Herve Leger

Has Diddy’s Arrest Crushed The Facade Of Hollywood?

Hollywood is reeling, and this time it’s not just another scandal. Diddy’s arrest has sent shockwaves through Tinseltown, tearing down the glitzy facade we’ve all bought into. It’s a huge wake-up call. The man who once seemed untouchable is suddenly at the center of controversy, and it’s got everyone talking. But here’s the thing – this isn’t just about one person. The Diddy case has opened up a whole can of worms, with other celebrities being named in court filings too. It’s got me wondering: is this the beginning of a bigger shift in how we view our idols? I can’t help but think we might be on the cusp of some real changes in Tinseltown. Facade Versus Reality. Hollywood’s Illusion of Perfection I’ve always been fascinated by Hollywood’s carefully crafted image of glitz and glamour. But now, that Diddy’s been charged with racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking that perfect facade is crumbling before our eyes. It’s like peeking behind the curtain, and boy, it ain’t pretty. Remember those lavish parties we’d hear about? Turns out they might’ve been hiding some pretty dark secrets. Ashton Kutcher even hinted at it back in 2019. And Cassie brought it out into the open when she accused Diddy of forcing her to participate in “freak offs”. These parties, allegedly organized by Diddy, are at the center of the sex trafficking charges and the feds have been building a case for months, piecing together a complex web of allegations. The indictment was a bombshell. It painted a picture of a criminal enterprise, with Diddy at the helm. Sex trafficking, intimidation, and abuse – the charges are serious and numerous. We’re starting to see Hollywood in a whole new light. It’s not all red carpets and designer gowns. There’s a seedy underbelly that’s finally coming to light, […]

Staying Trendy on the Slopes: a Guide to Winter Resort Casualwear

Winter would simply be incomplete without some fun in the snow. And what’s more fun than a gorgeous ski vacation? With so many wonderful resorts and destinations to choose from, and ski vacation companies like Snowtrex offering fantastic ski holiday deals for pretty much each one of them, narrowing down where you want to go can be difficult. However, whether you’ve already booked your ski holiday or are still trying to decide, you are going to want to consider your winter resort wardrobe as well. Resort Wardrobe Must-haves The Right Boots Of course no winter wardrobe, let alone a ski resort wardrobe, would be complete without an exceptional pair of winter boots. They need to be stylish, but also warm and water proof – see our winter boot buying guide. We would suggest a practical and sporty model for heading up to the slopes – something like Sorel – as well as a cute and comfortable ankle boot for when you’re out and about in the restaurants, cafes, and bars, or a comfy pair of Uggs for when you’re fireside. A Quality Ski Suit When it comes to the actual ski wardrobe, brands like Spyder, Obermeyer, and The North Face have the right outfits to keep you moving, warm, and on-point. You can find some of these brands at winter women, among others. When shopping, keep in mind that the current sportswear trend is still promoting color-blocking, with bright pink and grey combinations being particularly popular. Warm Lounging Attire Of course part of the whole ski vacation is enjoying the ski resort and quaint town. In order to look good on and off the slopes, you need great lounging attire included in your resort casual wardrobe. From warm knit sweaters and dark wash jeans to plain or printed leggings and […]

Going Braless: 2016’s Biggest Feminist Fashion Statement?

Why do you wear a bra? For comfort? To cover up? Because wearing beautiful lingerie makes you feel good about yourself? Or is it simply a habit you fell into after being whisked off to the shops to buy one the day your breasts started to show? Figuring out why we wear them and how they fit into feminism is the centre of several complicated debates. And although we’ve been talking about the purpose and significance of bras for decades, we’re still no closer to finding an answer. Burning Bras and Beauty Standards Like the best of partnerships, feminists have had some major fallings out with bras, the most infamous of which came in 1960 with protesters (now debated) publicly burning their bras. What started as a rally against the oppressive beauty standards of the Miss America pageant, became the defining image of the Women’s Liberation Movement, and one that isn’t often taken seriously. Even today, mention feminism and many people will immediately revert to clichés about angry activists and burning bras. The Pencil Test From that iconic moment in 1960, arguments about bras continued to make waves. In 1970 came the concept of the pencil test, posited as the definitive method of determining whether you needed to wear a bra. Basically, you placed a pencil under your breast and if it remained in place then it was off to the lingerie department for you. A test that’s now been turned into a viral social media trend, then reinforced one of the standards feminists had been working so hard to defeat. The sexualisation of the female form, too distracting to be on display, meant that breasts – and particularly large breasts – were to be contained and restrained. The Sexualisation of Big Boobs It’s a theory that still holds sway […]

Tummy Tuck: More than Meets the Eye

In today’s health-conscious society, we’d all like to look down and see a flat stomach or a solid six pack of abs. Unfortunately, diet and exercise alone can’t always give us the physical result we’re looking for. Enter the plastic surgeon and an increasingly popular procedure called a tummy tuck, which now ranks number five on the most-performed procedures list published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. According to a fact sheet by a local tummy tuck Seattle WA practice, the procedure “removes excess abdominal skin and fat [to achieve] a flatter stomach.” Of course, this isn’t something you can just do on your lunch break: the surgery takes about two to three hours to perform and requires about two weeks post-op recovery time. And while that may seem like a lot to go through just to look better in a bikini, the results are not purely cosmetic. In fact, healing—both physical and emotional—can happen in the wake of this surgery. Here’s a closer look at some of these health benefits. Keeping those extra pounds off Losing weight, and then keeping it off, is difficult for all of us. Recent research has shown that patients who undergo weight loss surgery were more likely to keep the weight off when they combined diet and exercise with a tummy tuck procedure. While the value of proper diet and an adequate exercise regimen cannot be understated, tummy tucks may occupy an equally important role in the patient’s long-term weight management plan. A more active lifestyle A tummy tuck can accompany other operative procedures, such as hernia repair. Hernias are not uncommon after an appendectomy or following a cesarean section. By combining procedures such as this with a tummy tuck, the physician can offer the patient a safe and practical way to save […]

Five Reasons Why Wearing Black Is Great!

There’s a good reason why black clothing never goes out of style: It works. Other colours come in and out of vogue, but black is timeless. Everyone from celebrities to fashion-savvy kids sport head-to-toe black when they want to make a statement. Black is slimming, works all year long, hides dirt, and looks good on both men and women. If that’s not enough, here are five more reasons to wear black clothing. 1. You Can Go Formal or Casual Black is the colour of choice when you want to dress up. There’s something formal about the color, and it’s the best backdrop to show off your bling. Silver, gold, and gemstones all stand out against dark clothing. But, you don’t need to reserve black for special occasions. Casual clothing looks just as good in dark shades (Nasty Gal does this perfectly with their clothes!). Black, suede sneakers paired with black jeans is a great everyday look. It doesn’t matter if you’re young, old, or somewhere in between, black is just about the most versatile color you can wear. 2. Everyone Looks Good in Black Blonds, brunettes, and redheads can all pull- off black clothing. Because black isn’t actually a color, it doesn’t clash with any skin tone. As powerful as it is, black clothing works like a neutral, allowing your coloring to shine. So whether you’re a person who normally looks good in strong colors or more delicate pastels, black will bring out the best of your individual skin, eye, and hair colour. 3. You Convey Power Black is the original power colour. There’s something weighty and serious about it, and those who wear it look strong. Whether you’re sporting an actual power suit, a badass leather jacket, or a slinky dress, black makes you look and feel powerful. […]

Anna Wintour to receive Outstanding Achievement Award

It’s official. The British Fashion Council confirmed this morning that Anna Wintour, OBE will be honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award at this year’s British Fashion Awards taking place on December 1st 2014 at the London Coliseum. Despite being widely recognized Wintour still remains a bit of a mystery, however her huge contribution to the fashion industry is undisputed. Starting her career at Harpers & Queen magazine in 1970, Wintour went on to American Vogue as Creative Director in 1983 and returned back to London to serve as Editor-in-chief of British Vogue in 1986. American Vogue became her final home in 1988. Commenting on Wintour’s award Natalie Massenet MBE, Chairman of the British Fashion Council said, “Anna Wintour has helped, nurtured and advised the careers of some of the world’s most brilliant and creative designers. There isn’t a person working in fashion who has not been inspired and influenced by Anna’s leadership.” Wintour faced quite a bit of criticism earlier this year for Kimye’s Vogue cover but in the video below she explains exactly what it takes to be the face of the fashion bible that is American Vogue.

Kate Moss pays homage to Cara Delevingne for Halloween

We have to admit we really enjoyed costume watching this Halloween…..just one of the many reasons why we’re addicted to Instagram. Heidi Klum may be infamous for making the most effort with her costumes but this year a few of our beloved celebs gave Klum a run for her money. We have way too many favourites to mention……we “oooh and ahhhed” at Beyoncé and Blue Ivy as Janet and Michael Jackson, laughed a lot at Kim and North as Anna Wintour and André Leon Talley (we’d pay good money to find out the ice queen’s thoughts about this pic)…. ….and we love, love, loved the cuteness overload of seeing Penelope and North West as adorable skunks. But the award for best dressed and the focus of today’s celebrity style goes to the one and only Kate Moss who pulled of her buddy Cara Delevingne perfectly. From the hoodie to the skinny jeans, to her impressions. Kate nailed it. Poking fun at Cara, Moss accessorised her outfit with a dab of white powder carefully placed on her nose. A tad controversial or just a good laugh? Thoughts? [Images]

Kris Jenner files for divorce from Bruce Jenner!

After 22 years of marriage, Kardashian family matriarch Kris Jenner has reportedly filed for divorce from Bruce Jenner, citing the standard “irreconcilable differences” in the official papers. This shouldn’t come as a total shock though, as they’ve apparently been living apart for well over a year, and announced their separation 11 months ago. It’s nice to see that they’ve managed to keep things relatively civil for their children and stepchildren, and of course, their TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians! As their youngest child – 17-year-old daughter Kylie Jenner – is still a minor, the couple will get joint custody of her, although neither Kris nor Bruce will receive spousal support. They will however do a property split as there was no prenup. It all sounds very civil at the moment doesn’t it? We wonder if it’ll stay like this… [Hollywood Life]

Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing actually loves his work being copied…

Tom Ford and Roberto Cavalli are just two of the many designers who have spoken out about their hatred towards ‘copycats’… but Olivier Rousteing’s opinion couldn’t be more different. The Balmain creative director has said that he actually likes seeing his new season designs copied on the high street, and thinks Zara’s pieces in particular are better than his own work. No, really… “I love seeing a Zara window with my clothes mixed with Céline and Proenza Schouler! I think that’s genius,” he said. “It’s even better than what I do! I love the styling, I love the story… I watch the windows always, and it’s genius what they do today. “I’m really happy that Balmain is copied – when I did my Miami collection and we did the black and white checks, I knew they would be in Zara and H&M. But they did it in a clever way – they mixed a Céline shape with my Balmain print! Well done! I love that”. We are partial to an occasional shopping spree in Zara, so we’re glad that one of our favourite designers actually approves of the pieces. After all, there’s nothing better than getting designer inspired pieces for a fraction of the price! Where do you stand? [Independent]

Stacking Rings: In or Out?

From sweet pink wedding gowns to unique collections of impeccable antique and contemporary stacked rings, this is the year when everything goes. As long as the look captures your essence and it doesn’t overwhelm the rest of your style, why not? The following four suggestions offer some exciting new ways to stack your rings. Engagement Rings and Diamonds: During the past few years, women around the world have been stacking engagement rings, like those found at Michael Hill Jewellers. Oval solitaires, white gold, and heirloom bands… the possibilities are as diverse and lovely as the celebrities. Kate Beckinsale, Eva Longoria, Jennifer Garner, Eva Longoria Parker, and Mariah Carey are just a few of the great trend setters who have added their personal flair to this fashionable trend. One of the many advantages of stacking engagement, wedding, and other bands is that the look can be dressed up or down, depending on the event; an antique gem with sentimental value can easily be added into the mix! Mix and Match: Mixing and matching adds a new aspect to the art of stacking rings. It’s also an element that will keep the style fresh for years to come! Once again, it’s all about your individual fashion sense, and finding a combination that you will enjoy. While diamond, precious, and semi-precious gems add volume and excitement, metal combinations are eclectic and interesting. Simply by adding or subtracting a favorite band, a diamond, topaz, sapphire, and/or rose gold you can add dimension to your look that will turn heads. Delicate rings, chunky bands, disks worn on the knuckles can be as intense or refined as you desire. Remember, ‘everything goes’ as long as you mix and match to suit your mood! Retro Style: This year we have made a remarkable journey back to the […]

Is Celebrity Culture Still as Influential as Ever?

The advancement of technology has made it possible for people from around the world to gain easy access to movies, television shows, magazines and news. As such, they are experiencing greater exposure to media influence than ever before. People of all ages, especially teenagers and children, are becoming increasingly infatuated with celebrities, and many of them regard their favorite celebrities as role models and try to imitate them. While celebrity culture can have a positive influence on people, it can also be detrimental to a certain extent. But how influential is it today? A Brief History of Celebrity Culture According to some historians, mass celebrity culture in the United States began to gain prominence in the early 20th century. This resulted from the flourishing New York and Hollywood entertainment industries from 1900 to the late 1920s, which saw the introduction and popularization of various forms of entertainment, including vaudeville, opera, radio and film. It generated greater interest in celebrities and contributed to a consumer-based culture that has continued to grow until today. Celebrity culture has risen to a new level in recent years following the advent of social media, which has made it possible for fans to connect with celebrities on a more personal level. Click here to learn more about the history of celebrity culture. Fuelling trends Celebrities remain influential in terms of driving trends. The recent, and continuing, phenomenon of e-cigarettes is a prime example: an increasing number of celebrities, including Katherine Heigl, Britney Spears, Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, Cheryl Cole, Bradley Cooper, Lindsay Lohan, Robert Pattinson and Paris Hilton, have been seen smoking e-cigarettes instead of real cigarettes, and has helped to fuel their increasing popularity. Celebrity endorsement is all-powerful in this regard, and websites such as http://www.eshishin.co.uk/ reflect the demand for some of the most popular […]

Angelina Jolie rocks Saint Laurent for Elle US June cover

With the highly anticipated release of Disney’s Maleficent this month, we had a sneaky feeling that an Angelina Jolie fashion glossy cover was on the cards. We had our money (and hearts) on American Vogue, but we certainly aren’t disappointed with the Elle US June cover either. Angelina was photographed by Saint Laurent’s Hedi Slimane, and is naturally exclusively rocking the brand’s pieces in the accompanying editorial. Sleek, slick and sinfully sexy – that’s Angelina Jolie and the new Saint Laurent brand in a nutshell which is why they fit together so seamlessly. Inside the mag, Angelia opens up about everything from Brad Pitt to her upcoming nuptials, i.e. the most highly anticipated wedding since the Royal Wedding (sorry Kim and Kanye!) among other things. “We have a very full life and a very passionate relationship,” she said about Brad Pitt. “We are still quite surprised that we’re actually more interested in each other now than when we met. We know it’s rare.” As rare as Angelina’s beauty, some (us included!) might say. You can read the rest of Angelina Jolie’s interview in the Elle US June issue.

Staying Stylish on the Slopes

The ski season is finally here! If you’re hitting the slopes in the next few months you’ll want to know how you can stay warm and dry whilst also staying on top of the latest trends. The basic stuff Before we start looking at styles it’s important to outline that there are certain essentials that you have to wear whilst skiing or else you will freeze! You will need to wear layers under your ski jacket – normally some kind of thermal, another thin layer and a warm, insulating outer layer like a fleece or jumper. Remember that if you stop for a break or lunch you’ll probably be taking your jacket off so people will see this layer. You’ll also need gloves, a hat and goggles (you won’t need them every day, depending on the weather, but you should have them available) and ski socks as a minimum and something warm to snuggle up in in the evenings, like a cuddly onesie! The fun stuff In the past few years ski attire has really stepped up and now it’s easy to find a ski jacket that will cater for all the practical needs you require on the slopes and make you look good. Whether you want to embrace the street style set by snowboarders or keep things sophisticated with furs and simple colours there are plenty of options out there. This jacket from The North Face is the perfect example of a timeless, elegant ski jacket which will stay fashionable for a number of seasons. Sypder have put together a similar faux fur jacket which could easily double up as a warm option on a chilly day in the city. If you want something which reflects the street style that the slopes are starting to embrace then try something […]

Julianne Hough is Worst Dressed of the Week…as ‘Crazy Eyes’

Long before elaborate Halloween parties and expertly executed outfits, it was all about dressing up as a witch and trying your luck at trick or treating. Of course, things don’t remain so vanilla in Hollywood, and this week, actress Julianne Hough has been the subject of controversy over her not-so-PC outfit choice. Far from being spooky, Julianne’s get-up for the Casamigos Halloween Party in Hollywood last week attracted backlash from the public, and rightfully so. Dressed as the character ‘Crazy Eyes’ from the hit Netflix series, Orange Is The New Black, Julianne sported a bright orange prison uniform and Gwen Stefani hair, circa ’95. But it wasn’t her wacky choice of attire that infuriated the masses, rather her blackface makeup. Particularly distasteful, whatever her intentions with this look; but she claims to be a fan of the show, and of the character she was imitating, played by African-American actress, Uzo Aduba. Given the heated debate surrounding the Vogue Netherlands ‘Blackface’ editorial, we’re not surprised by the extreme reaction to Julianne’ actions – after all, fashion may be a make-believe world pushing boundaries (and buttons), but as a representative of Hollywood, Julianne should know better. Although Julianne took to social media to repent her allegedly racially offensive actions, tweeting: “It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize,” we’re still slapping her with this week’s worst dressed title. (Yes, we know, it could’ve been Miley dressed as Lil’ Kim) What are your thoughts on Julianne’s Halloween costume? Is it a step too far? [Image]

Do you suit warm or cool hair colour tones?

It’s the start of the autumn season and the time of year that everyone’s more conscious about their appearance; whether they want to lose weight or change their hair colour. Surprisingly, choosing a new hair colour isn’t as simple as picking up a box of hair dye and hoping for the best. The same goes for if you like a particular colour on someone else – that doesn’t mean it will look good on you. If you want to keep your new ‘do’, you should consider a few things before hitting the bottle. Eye colour Have you ever wondered why women with blonde hair and blue eyes or men with dark hair and deep brown eyes are considered to be attractive? Well, you might not think about the colour of your eyes when choosing a new hair dye but it has a big impact on what colour hair suits you. Warm toned colours, such as red, gold and auburn are typically suited to people with brown or green eyes whereas people with blue or grey-ish eyes often find that light and ash blondes are a better match. Even something as simple as your choice of eye make up affects your overall look so you may want to look for tips on how to ensure your chosen style doesn’t clash with your hair or skin tone. Skin tone Everyone’s skin is completely different; you might even hear people referring to their complexion, perhaps talking about themselves being olive-skinned or fair-skinned. If you have pale skin, you can probably get away with most hair colours but try to avoid going too dark as it can wash you out. Those with fair, but pinkish skin should avoid red like the plague and use ash tones wherever possible. However, anyone with a fair but […]

Fashion Charts: What’s going up and what’s coming down this month

Up The bomber jacket: The hit summer cover-up, we’re digging the bomber jacket for its endless styling opportunities. Continuing fashion’s love affair with the sport luxe trend, we’re wearing ours with skinny jeans and a luxe tee by day, and statement earring and a sexy pencil skirt by night. Knuckle-nail rings: From Balenciaga’s lusted-after gold versions to pocket-pleasing high-street alternatives on the high street, knuckle rings have evolved into the next best thing: knuckle-nail rings, as seen on the Chanel Fall Couture 2013 runway. Yeah, couture on your nails is a thing, according to Kaiser Karl. Expensive baby shoes: With a ‘female hustler’ and the ‘king of hip hop’ for parents, you’re expected to have a more than average upbringing. Her Majesty, Blue Ivy Carter, has her own pair of TOM FORD heels. Yes, TOM FORD. Downsized to tot proportions, and modelled by her bootylicious mum. In other news, the world’s first billionaire couple reportedly splashed out a whopping (modest by Jay-B standards) $7,500 on presents for Baby Kimye, including a pair of Christian Dior booties. Moss mania: Although she’s been everywhere since being discovered at the tender age of 14, Kate Moss continues to rule everything, everywhere. From taking over the Stuart Weitzman and Versace AW13 campaigns to teaming up with Carphone Warehouse on a new fashion-tech accessories line and going under the hammer (sort of) at Christie’s. Budget Alaia’s (well, kind of): We’ve been drooling over the real deal, and promptly heading to Zara to snap up the pocket-friendly version! We’re in love with complex, lace up sandals that look like a lot of hard work to slip into, but once you’ve got them on, there’s no coming off. Down Over-the-top underdressing: Oh, Rihanna. Bad, bad Rihanna. Rocking up to Chanel Couture (!) in nothing more than a […]

Pea-sized prodigies: Meet the 5-year-old Scott Disick

OK. We’re pretty much speechless. Dumbfounded. Beyond words. Because we’ve just witnessed a miniature reincarnation of, maybe, Lord Disick, Justin Bieber and Danny O’Donoghue all rolled into one adorable and well-clothed 5-year-old. Meet social media sensation, Alonso Mateo, the kid-poser from Laguna Beach, who’s effortlessly making waves in the oversubscribed world of Instagram. Executing painstakingly put together looks with the ease of a seasoned Brad Kroenig, Alonso name checks brands including Acne, Jeremy Scott, Dolce & Gabbana and All Saints in his personal walk-in wardrobe (yes, walk-in!). Alonso acquired quite the global fashion following (127,000 followers on Instagram, and counting), after his freelance stylist mother started posting pictures of her son’s looks on the popular social media site. The child style star, who’s giving a bunch of A-list tots a run for their (parents’) money, often picks out his own looks, and poses with such professionalism, you’d think he was a wash cycle shrunken entity from a Testino shoot. But in this environment of over sharing, and with some of the disturbing precedence before a story like this (remember our rant about 10-year-old child model Thylane?), we’re still trying to figure out – after cooing and awwing over Alonso’s shockingly impressive camera credentials – how we feel about this mini man. Although that term in itself is a little disturbing, are the pictures really doing any harm? Expectedly, the account on which his mother posts images has been subject to a tirade of criticism, and sadly, abuse from Nation Selfie, with several users branding the family materialistic and the 5-year-old a ‘spoiled douche’. But come to think of it: which parent doesn’t like to dress their child well if they can afford to? Let’s consider this in the context of fashion editorials. Exploitative on a wide scale, the case of Thyalane […]

Fashion Charts: 5 things going up, and 5 things going down this month

Going up Festival beauty: Suddenly, we’re all raving in fields and bubblegum blue mascara is perfectly acceptable. Festival season’s taking over, but it does come with its downfalls. Lack of hot showers and long queues for toilets can bring out the worst in use, but there isn’t much that pink semi-permanent hair colour, bright eye shadow and feather lashes can’t sort out. Transatlantic takeovers: On a non-fashion note, we can’t help but feel proud of the American intervention we’ve recently experienced. From J-Lo’s raunchy antics on Britain’s Got Talent to Alicia Keys taking her adorable son to a theme park in the Midlands and Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher’s secretive pub dates. And then there’s Jessie J, debuting her delicious new look (oh, that bod!) in the video for her latest video Wild, featuring Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal. Fashion’s future: Graduate Fashion Week is nearly coming to a close, and the idea of seeing fresh, emerging talent taking its first steps into this challenging industry is exciting. With over 1,000 BA fashion graduates from 40 UK colleges showing their collections, alongside students from 16 universities around the world including Parsons and FIT, in New York, will the next Christopher Bailey or Stella McCartney be discovered? The two most famous Ks: One’s a certified royal, and the other is also part of an establishment better know as the Kardashians. Both are due to give birth pretty soon and we can’t wait to see Kate Middleton cooing over the royal tot’s frilly hat, and how many diamonds will adorn Kimye’s daughter’s cot. Blue Ivy, who? High Street denim takeover: Yes, that’s right. Although it’s not earth shattering news, it is when the high street’s most cost effective name takes on a dot com domain! Asos will become the newest home for […]

Fashion Charts: 5 things going up, and 5 things going down this month

Going up Punk fever: The punk revival was well and truly felt at this year’s Met Ball, with added thanks to Miley Cyrus’s outlandish barnet and Madonna’s flesh flashing shenanigans. But will it last? We hope the magical era is here to stay for good, so we can break fashion rules and paint our (not so flat) stomachs with anti-gun slogans. Check out our Punk inspo moodboard for your fix. Gatsby fever: Taking a detour from crazy hair and garish outfits, the other era the fashion world is currently dabbling in is the Roaring Twenties. With Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby set for release next week in the UK, expect a rise in opulent hair accessories, art deco prints and more flapper dresses you can shake a jazz dance move at! Shop our top Gatsby-inspired pieces here. Festival kick off: Although the major headliners are taking place smack bang in the middle of summer, several niche festivals are taking place this month, which can only mean one thing; getting your festival wardrobe into gear. Check out our top 10 picks here. Embellished tees: Luxe tees have been gaining momentum amongst the fash pack for some time now, so when we laid our peepers on the embellished 3.1 Phillip Lim Nueva York tee , we were sold at hello. The new low sandal: Or, dubbed the ‘Elvis’ sandal, thanks to the rhinestone detail; embrace summer’s new take on the gladiator sandal but with a flattering (read: pain-free) heel. Look to Isabel Marant for a high end hit, or Zara and Mango do equally stylish, pocket-friendly versions. Going down Glove sleeves: Come on, Kim! What were you thinking? Dressing to flatter your bump, we understand, is priority, but hand concealing doesn’t really come in to it. Enough said. Winter coats in spring: After experiencing […]

Love or Hate: Britney Spears in Stella McCartney

For the season premiere of X Factor USA, Britney Spears stepped out in a vivid blue, printed Herve Leger Stella McCartney dress from the British designer’s pre-fall 2012 collection. On paper, Britney in Stella – in fact, Britters in anything that isn’t a bandage dress – is a breath of fresh air. The actual results however, are a little bit disappointing and we are angry with ourselves for thinking it. We want her to be America’s sweetheart circa 1999 all over again! So here are our problems with the look: the dress sits at that awkward literal knee length, and between that, the high neckline and the fact that we think she could have done with a bigger size, we don’t think it’s the most flattering of outfits for Britney’s figure. We heart the fact that Brit is taking some sartorial risks though, and we don’t want her to be discouraged from branching out in the future. Because we love Britney and want to see her in a positive light, we’re going to look at her Elle US cover and editorial images again! [poll id=”367″]

Yesterday marked the end of an era. Elizabeth Taylor was the last of the Hollywood greats, but behind her incredible film career spanning 50 years and her extraordinary philanthropic work, she was a true style icon. Epitomising pure Hollywood pin-up, Elizabeth’s theatrical ability to mix high-octane elegance with an air of everyday nonchalance – a cluster of diamonds with a sweater; a flared Fifties dress with a cigarette – gave an enduring appeal to her innately feminine fashion.
