Highlights from the Mulberry autumn & winter 2014 press day

We know what you’re thinking: what’s this? Have we stepped into a time capsule and catapulted into the future? You might be a bit confused about why Mulberry is already having a press day for its new season collection before Fashion Month has even begun, but we’d like to remind you that the British brand cancelled its London Fashion Week show due to not having a creative director and has instead decided to treat us to our first autumn/winter 2014 look early. Isn’t that nice of Mulberry? Of course it is – and nice is the perfect word to describe the new season collection. Along with some other positive adjectives, obviously. The Mulberry team drew inspiration from men’s classic tailoring, juxtaposed with iconic feminine pieces in the signature Mulberry style. Paisley, Arran and Argyle dominated the ready-to-wear pieces, while the handbags (clearly our favourite aspect of the British brand) came in gorgeous new Wheat, Indigo, Evergreen and Poppy Red colours. We even got to see a new style of bag – The Campden – which comes in a pair of clutches; one large and one perfect for all your evening essentials. Take a look at some of our press day highlights below: Introducing the new Campden… So, what do you think of the first look at the Mulberry autumn/winter 2014 collection?

Anna Dello Russo vs. Lily Collins…Who wore Givenchy better?

Along with ‘It’ bags and must-have heels, cult sweatshirts and jumpers have gained serious traction in the past months. From the Kenzo eye sweater to Brian Lichtenberg’s collection of ‘Homies’ imprinted beanies and tops, logo mania has well and truly taken over. And now, this week’s fash-off contenders, Anna Dello Russo and Lily Collins, are also doing their bit for branding by sporting the same sell-out Givenchy Bambi print jumper – at the same event! Attending the spring/summer 2014 Givenchy runway show in Paris, the editor famed for taking “fashion showers” was spotted outside the show venue, aptly in said sweater. Needing no introduction to the camera, Anna Dello Russo teamed hers with a waist-cinching belt, black clutch and statement ankle boots. But, not too far away (on the opposite side of the front row, we presume), Lily Collins was also wearing the same printed sweater, albeit with a very un-ADR spin. Going for more glam goth than golden glamazon, Lily went with a sheeny vampish lip, black ankle strap sandals and matching clutch. A selection of bracelets gave the final finishing touch. So, who wins in the battle of the Bambis? Oh, we do love you ADR, but that tan and accessory overkill just isn’t working for us. Fashion shower detox, maybe? Lily, you’ve got this one hands down. Agree with our style verdict? Whose look wins for you? Tell us in the comments section below! Givenchy Bambi and female form print jumper, £853.51, available at Barneys. [Image: Anna; Lily]

3.1 Phillip Lim Ryder satchel: Yay or Nay?

When we spied the Ryder Satchel on the runway, we knew this 3.1 Phillip Lim bag was set for statement status. After all fur, in all its wacky permutations, played a big role in shaping the trends for autumn/winter 2013, and Lim was right on point with this satchel. Featuring a riot of dyed fur in jewel tones, and crafted from buttery soft leather, the trusty Ryder satchel comes with a handy, adjustable shoulder strap; a short handle for easy carrying, and bags of room (pardon the pun). After the phenomenal success of Lim’s Pashli bag, we don’t blame you for being taken with the Ryder, either. So, to eliminate any pre-purchase confusion, and, before you leap in to satisfy those new bag cravings (we all get them), check out our mini guide to snapping up the Ryder bag (or rather leaving it in your e-basket) below: Yay Easy day-to-night option: Sling it over your shoulder for brunch, or grab it by the handle – even do an ‘Editor’s tuck’ by carrying it under your arm, like an upsized clutch – for night. Practical: Well, satchel does spell space, and that’s a plus point when splashing the cash on designer arm candy! Statement bag with substance: You’re guaranteed to get some good use out of the Ryder satchel, and it’ll work just as well as a conversation-starter. Bravo! Nay Price: At a princely £876.16, you’re looking at a dent just shy of a whopping £1,000 in your pocket, not to mention nearly a whole month’s rent suddenly going ‘missing’ from your life fund. You choose. Trend-centric: Although fur, faux or otherwise, is a wardrobe classic, the multi-hued version is very now. If you’re not keen on investing in this ‘season’ so strongly, then opt for a more muted, trans-seasonal fur […]

2 Ways to wear the denim jacket

We all know the perennially cool status of the humble jean, and how every single denim piece in our wardrobe is worn to within an inch of its indigo existence. From the denim shirt to those go-to skinnies and that can’t-dress-without-it short; these are all cult classics we couldn’t possibly imagine donating to the nearest charity shop. But there are a few denim guises that may have, what you call, slipped the net, and one that particularly comes to mind is the denim jacket. An afterthought for many denim lovers, the infectious double denim trend has pushed aside this ideal summer cover-up (with the denim shirt taking to the throne), and we’ve since seen it make a come back in a more novel light (see: J Brand for Christopher Kane, and more recently, Mary Katrantzou x Current Elliot). So, to revive its rightful status as a summer wardrobe staple, we’re celebrating the easy cover-up in its most desirable form: the J Brand 403 Destructed Jacket. And it’s not so difficult to style either. In fact here are two easy and super-stylish ways you can wear the denim jacket from day to night. Just add a slouchy black tee to both looks, and you’re good to go! am look: Punctuate an off-duty look with a dose of denim, by pairing the 403 Destructed Jacket with bold skinnies, and statement boots. A gold watch will finish the look nicely. pm look: Add a dash of dancefloor-appropriate glamour, by teaming the 403 Destructed Jacket with a printed mini and metallic heels. Just add a boxy cross-body bag for carrying essentials. J Brand 403 destructed denim jacket, £233.57, available at J Brand.

Wimbledon weekend outfit inspiration

We’ve had Wimbledon fever all week, but there’s no reason that should stop at the weekend. Au contraire, time off work means it’s perfectly acceptable to head on down to tennis town in your Wimbledon inspired finest (something chic and relatively white should do the trick), sit on top of Murray Mount and munch your strawberries and cream while catching all the on-court action. 1. – Wimbledon white shouldn’t just be reserved for the players battling it out on the courts; spectators regularly embrace the colour (or lack thereof), so whether you’re heading to Wimbles for the tennis or are just having a little party in your back garden, this white dress is sure to get you in the mood regardless! Miss Selfridge stripe ribbon dress, £45 2. – Gone is the big platform shoe, and in its place is a dainty, elegant lady-like shoe instead. We love these blush pink courts; we think they might very well be the new nude! Topshop Gwenda pointed courts, £58 3. – We love clutches as much as the next person, but attending a sporting event means you’ll want your hands vacant for applauding, hyperbolic hand-to-mouth gasping, and drink holding; therefore a good cross body bag is a vital, hands-free accessory! Marc by Marc Jacobs cross body bag, £200.81

Nicole Scherzinger vs. Louise Roe: Who wore Mara Hoffman better?

Ah, the arrival of summer can only mean a flurry of envy-inducing, bod-hugging dresses that leave us wondering why we cancelled that gym membership. But then again, we could just forget about the ab crunches and instead talk about this week’s ensuing fash-off between two dress doyennes. In the battle of the dresses this week, both Nicole Scherzinger and Louise Roe took a liking to the Mara Hoffman shield print maxi dress, and gave us two very stylish looks. Scherzy stepped out in the Mara Hoffman maxi in Monaco, to support beau Lewis Hamilton at the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix. Making the most of the glorious sunshine, Nicole styled the dress with studded flat sandals, oversized sunnies and a classic Hermès Kelly bag. Beating Hamilton’s missus to it was Louise Roe, who sported the very same dress to the Rolling Stone magazine American Music Awards VIP after party, back in November 2012. Bringing a splash of print to the red carpet, Ms. Roe styled her look with a nude box clutch and statement earrings. But whose look takes the prize? Although both ladies styled the shield print maxi dress to perfection for the events they were attending; we’re giving this week’s fash-off champ title to…Nicole Scherzinger! We’re a little sensitive to the wintry climes at present, and anything that reminds us of an easy, breezy holiday wardrobe is a winner. Nicole’s look is perfect for a sun splashed outdoor event, and although Louise looked fab, too, the pretty print and summery colour is wasted on the red carpet. Do you agree? Pippa Middleton vs. Emmy Rossum: Who wore Tabitha Webb better?

Red carpet looks will always remain the rage, but when two people wear a more casual look so differently, our fash-off radar goes into overdrive! It’s a clash between Hollywood royalty and British part-royalty this week, with Emmy Rossum and Pippa Middleton taking on the frock-off challenge in two differing looks. Pippa opted to wear the Tabitha Webb summer blossom dress to the Waitrose summer party, held in London last week. Accessorising with nude pumps and a beige clutch, Pippa sported her signature glossy locks and a very rosy pop of colour on the cheeks. Smug, sister-of-the-future queen smile as standard, of course! But bringing a sunnier spell to the style forecast was Emmy Rossum, who took the Tabitha Webb dress for an outing in the Beverly Hills sunshine last month, beating our Pips to it. Emmy’s accessorising took an unexpected twist, as she carried a red shoulder bag and wore pale green sandals. A slick of colour on the lips and a long necklace completed Emmy’s polished off-duty look. But who takes the fash-off champ title? Both ladies are refined dressers, but there can only be one winner…and for us, it’s Emmy! Thanks to Emmy’s bold red bag, the pastel pink colour and soft summer blossom print is uplifted, preventing the shade from washing her out. Pippa looks fab, too, but her look screams matchy-matchy, which, in fashion speak, is boring! Considering her sister is the (future) queen not just of the country, but of dress recycling, too, we’d love to see how Pippa would style this dress off-duty. Do you agree with our fash-off verdict? One Dress, Two Ways: The Easy, AM to PM Dress

Taking a look effortlessly from day to night is the dream of every girl-about-town, and every working woman. Lugging around a change of shoes, even clothes, during the daily commute is challenging enough, and the fear of being overdressed for a coffee date with the girls isn’t easily avoidable, either. But what if we show you two ways with one simple dress, and take the faff out of fashion? No-frills style is the key to a clutter-free wardrobe, and when you can recycle a look, a healthy bank balance follows (or so we hope!) The Milly Summer dress is perfect for the current season, and nails two major spring/summer 2013 trends in one stylish swipe: monochrome and checks. The mid-length makes it ideal for day, whilst the cross-shoulder strap detail adds interest to an evening look. An investment worth making, here are two ways to make the Milly Summer dress work for day and night. The AM look: If you’re looking to wear the Milly dress for day, adding a pop of colour will instantly lift the monochrome print. Block brights are key, and we love the unmatched colours of the cobalt ballet pumps and zingy yellow shoulder bag. Finish off with a delicate ring  for a summer-perfect look. The PM look: Take the Milly dress from brunch to bar by adding accenting accessories, and nothing does that better than metallics! The strappy gold-heeled sandals and metallic clutch won’t go amiss on the dance floor, and statement earrings will finish the look nicely. All products featured are available at Zalando.

Your Summer Essentials Checklist: The Need Now Edit

Not sure whether you noticed, but we’ve already had our flash-in-the-pan summer this past bank holiday. Temperatures went double- digit on us, as sun-starved Brits flocked to parks, and any other open space we could find where the sun would feed our winter-ravaged complexions. However, now that we’re back to the climatic reality we’re used to living with this side of the pond (wholly unfair), we’re not letting grey skies and constant downpours dampen our spirits (pun intended), and instead drawing up bright and bold summer shopping lists ready for when the sun finally appears again! To make the process of leaving behind the comfort of your winter wardrobe (we know, it’s a sorry state of affairs in May!), we’ve picked out 15 summer essentials every discerning style maven needs in her wardrobe this season. From the eclectically printed short, ideal for pairing with a smart blazer, as it is with a louche tee, to pretty printed jeans and the perfect day-to-night blouse option; our need now edit has all your sartorial wants and needs covered. So go ahead, treat yourself, and patiently wait for the clear skies to arrive. And even if the clouds don’t disappear, we promise you’ll want to slip into these delicious wares anyway!   Rag & Bone Cotton Winchester Shirt, £365, Stylebop: A crisp white shirt never goes amiss with any summer ensemble. Wear with skinny jeans, heeled sandals and a dinky shoulder bag. Gemma Arterton vs. Shailene Woodley vs. Amber Valletta: Who wore Stella McCartney better?

Judging by the popularity of a particular Stella McCartney ensemble, it’s a triple fash-off this week! Spotted in the same form-fitting Stella McCartney tuxedo jumpsuit, actresses Gemma Arterton, Shailene Woodley and model Amber Valletta have firmly fallen on our style radar. Cast your minds way back to February 2012, when Stella McCartney threw THAT lavish party during London Fashion Week (the one that included crazy, models-dancing-on-tables antics, and a very cosy looking Rihanna and Kate Moss). Attendee Amber Valletta was the first to slip into the tux jumpsuit for the event, oozing every bit the model glamour she’s carved a successful career out of. A simple black clutch and ankle strap heels accessorised the look, whilst slicked back hair and strong eyes completed the look. Shailene Woodley gave the tux jumpsuit its next outing at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, last June. Styled with Stella McCartney sandals (natch), Shailene opted for a messy fishtail plait and went sans accessories. And, finally in the fash-off line-up, Brit beauty Gemma Arterton wore the tux jumpsuit to the 2012 British Fashion Awards back in November. Styled with wedges by the same designer, a handheld cross-body bag and an orange bracelet, Gemma sported softly tousled waves and neutral makeup. But whose look steals the fash-off champion title? We’re rooting for Gemma on this one for one simple reason: she oozes oodles of confidence, whereas Amber and Shailene – who look equally as amazing – seem a little vanilla in comparison. The alternative thought to styling and soft curls bring a feminine edge to the near-androgynous style of the tux jumpsuit, and Gemma gets the balance just right! Whose look wins for you?

Anya Hindmarch Bathurst Bow Soft Satchel: Yay or Nay?

A bag with enough substance to make it a lasting addition to your wardrobe and not just a fleeting fling with fashion is difficult to come by. The ‘It’ bag has, to a certain extent, plagued every handbag enthusiast’s mind,  turning us towards a hot-right-now mentality to bag shopping, rather than seeking out that exclusive investment that’ll make us look back on these expensive purchases with a sense of pride. The Bathurst Bow Soft Satchel from veteran investment bag designer, Anya Hindmarch, had us double-taking when we realised its sheer potential for ending up in our wardrobes. Practically proportioned and doused in neutral hues, it appears to be more than just instant eye-candy, luring us in with its multi-purpose exterior. But before being sold on the Bathurst, we decided to weigh up the reasons we’re saying YAY and NAY to parting with our hard earned (plastic) cash: Yay Neutral colour: The pale colour-block design is every minimalist’s dream come true, and with two different detachable handle styles, there’s plenty of wardrobe versatility. 2-in-1 bag: If you’re drawn to ladylike bags, Anya Hindmarch is your go-to label. Good news is the Bathurst gives you both: a feminine top handle bag and a practical satchel option. Spacious: The gusseted sides and roomy suede-lined interior will ensure you can fit in all the essentials, with room to spare. Nay Stain magnet: We all know, veering into pale/white territory can be as stylish as it can be disastrous. If you’re going to make good daily use of the Bathurst Satchel, the cream exterior may take a stain-ridden battering, frankly leaving you heartbroken. Price: A luxe investment means coughing up copious amounts of cash, and at £1,567.11, we’re not exactly going to say it’s a satchel at a snip! Not a day-to-night option: For the […]

Five Spring Styles You Need In Your Wardrobe This Season

[noskim] With the bitter chills of winter retreating from the warmth of the oncoming spring sun, it’s time to freshen up your wardrobe with some much needed sunshine and clothes that are much more suitable for the rising temperatures. It’s the perfect opportunity to throw off the shackles of multiple layers and embrace skirts, dresses, tights and shorts – and all the uplifting colours, patterns and designs that come with this season. The high street is filling its shelves with an overwhelming array of fashion trends, and this article picks five all-important styles you’ll want in your wardrobe. 1. Bold Colours This spring, like many others, is all about bright bold colours. Bright pinks, blues, purples and yellows are all making waves this season and giving the usual floral spring patterns a run for their money in the popularity charts. Whether you make a bold statement with one brightly coloured item of clothing, such as a blazer or dress, which punctuates 2. Bright Accessories From bags to makeup, bright colours are everywhere – beyond tops, dresses and skirts. Allowing you to complement the colour blocking in the rest of your outfit, and punctuate other colours with matching schemes, you can complete any spring outfit perfectly with a bright striped or block colour handbag. Seasoned fashion lovers will know that bold, loud bag (or other accessory) can brighten up even the most reserved and muted outfit. Unless you’re colour blocking, if you opt for a loud clutch or handbag then tone down the outfit it’s going with to avoid painful clashes. 3. Panel Skirts & Dresses They certainly might not be new trends for 2013, but panel skirts and dresses are definitely here to stay. With spring getting rid of the need to wrap up and hibernate, now’s the perfect time […]

London Fashion Week AW13: Highlights from Day 3

With Fashion Month speeding on, it was onto day three of the stylish festivities. Packed with major shows, including Temperley London, Mulberry and Jonathan Saunders, the fash pack were out in full force to absorb and delight in everything next season has to offer. Alongside spotting the fashions for next season, our front row radar was in overdrive, too! Alexa Chung looked resplendent sat front row at Mulberry (natch), joined by frow partner Lana Del Rey; Olivia Palermo at Temperley sporting a gorgeous pink clutch; Pixie Geldof looked print-tastic at Jonathan Saunders and, of course, the obligatory Wintour spot at Matthew Williamson left us in a state of awe-induced hyper ventilation (it happens every time)! So, here are all the highlights from day three of London Fashion Week: Mulberry In fashion time, it was relatively decent start to the day with an 11am Mulberry show at Claridges, and we have to say, we needed the lie in! Woodland wonderland-meets the Nineties was big at Mulberry, as skater skirts over cropped trousers made an appearance, along with oversized tweed plaids on statement en outerwear in a whimsical woodland setting, complete with Mulberry fruits and a jaw-dopping butterfly and wild flower installation that adorned the entrance to Claridges. Dark hues of deep emerald, wine tones and black reigned supreme, and Mulberry;s signature botanical-inspired prints were splashed across form-fitting dresses. Outerwear was the highlight for us; we could happily take home every coat we saw! Temperley London Temperley London is a Fashion Month favourite for us, and we couldn’t quite contain our excitement when we were informed that Hitchcock beauty Tippi Hedren was the source of inspiration. In a bid to move away from being associated solely with occasion wear, plenty of flirty cocktail dresses made an appearance, with an emphasis on a […]

Kerry Washington scoops Best Dressed of the Week spot

It’s been a week crammed with Awards ceremonies, and more to come, so it’s safe to say a few too many stylish ladies have been falling on our Best Dressed radar! We brought you our Best Dressed at the People’s Choice and the Critics’ Choice Awards, but for BDOTW, we had to take a break from the award-wielding, glitzy A-listers. The Django Unchained promo tour was in full swing this week, and we can tell you that leading lady Kerry Washington’s acting skills aren’t the only thing catching our attention! The film’s red carpet premiere commanded impeccable outfits, and Kerry sure pulled out all the stops! Donning a Peter Pilotto SS’13 dress for the film’s Rome photo call, Kerry looked suitably ready to spring into the new season in an eccentrically printed, ruffle-front number. Hot bangs and sleek locks finished off the look nicely, although we do wish she’d opted for sandals over pumps. Next up was a white-hot checkerboard print Louis Vuitton SS’13 dress for the Berlin photo call, which Kerry expertly styled with a cute Vuitton headband, a dinky, ladylike Vince Camuto bag and white Louboutin pumps. One of our favourite looks going into next season, for sure! And finally, another breathtaking look from the stunning actress came courtesy of the film’s London premiere, for which Kerry wore a beautiful Giles Spring 2013 gown. Deep berry lips and a wavy updo similar to the runway looked completed the look, whilst white pumps and a silver box clutch made for the perfect accessories. HOT! Which look was your favourite?

My 5 New Year’s (fashion) resolutions

It’s here. 2012 has skipped into the not-so-distant past and in its place is a shiny, new 4-digit year with just as many adventures, if not more, packed into it. Well, we can at least hope 2013 will be as eventful as the year preceding it… But a new year means new promises; purchases that are deceptively ‘reduced’ but really suck our finances dry and a whole lot of push-ups and pedalling at the gym. NYE hangover aside, waking up to 2013 I thought not of the long-forgotten healthy regime I had mentally mapped out across my bedroom ceiling as part of the habitual New Year’s resolution-making (more refuse-olution, if I’m completely honest) ritual, but of the wardrobe woes I would eradicate by way of strict fashion resolutions I would have to adhere to, or else risk the wrath of the fash pack. So, here’s to eating as many cakes but carefully avoiding carrot leg trousers; going insane with thoughts of fresh brioche passing my lips on a continuous basis whilst considering a Balenciaga bag an investment rather than insolvency-inducing article and rolling out of bed and staying in my pyjamas all day, as long as they’re silky Equipment beauties. I present to you my 5 New Year’s resolutions: To become a handbag hedonist To some this resolution may come across as way of acquiring not-so-cheap thrills, but for me it will be a Neil Armstrong kinda step into the world of fash-cessorising. Partial to a secure (read: boring) 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli in black, and even Wang’s trusty Rocco (again, in black), I really want to use 2013 as an excuse to venture into undiscovered handbag territory, and invest in a novelty bag or two. A Charlotte Olympia book clutch, or, maybe a cross-body bag in a zingy shade […]

Wardrobe inspiration! Three ways to wear Resort 2013

Every fash bod worth their Manolo’s is well-versed in the beautifying ways of the Resort (also known as ‘cruise’) collections. The go-between offerings from major design houses to fill the wardrobe void between fashion months; once you tire of your a/w wares, resort will rescue you until spring/summer ’13 lands in stores. For those not accustomed with the over-spilling fashion calendar, resort collections land in stores (and online) around November, and offer pieces with a summery inclination – ‘cruise’ usually referred to the winter vacay-ing ways of the jet-setters, many of whom often hopped on a private jet to go and bask in the Mustique sun rather than slog it out in sleety Sloane Square. But with time, resort has turned into a teaser for next season, and judging by the latest resort 2013 drops at go-to shopping destination Matches, juicy prints, monochrome and lashings of bold colour will continue to entice. Whether you’re spending Christmas in foggy Dublin or baking Dubai, there’s nothing to stop you rocking resort’s fabulous fashions. Here are our top three resort looks for different occasions. Party  Off to a wedding in the Turks and Caicos Islands? Don’t leave the miserable skies of Blighty behind without packing this multicoloured floral dress in your suitcase. Up the glam ante further by adding a statement necklace to compensate for the strapless style and finish off with a matching clutch. Winter sun break  If you’re lucky enough to be dancing at a Goan beach party this Christmas or New Year whilst the rest of the nation sits tight in thermals, then do so in style! We love this alternative cover-up to the traditional kaftan; perfect for popping over a black bikini for a real print pop. No winter vacation would be complete without a pair of desirable flat sandals, […]

It grew so much faster than we’d ever imagined and we felt it needed its own space to live and breathe. Separating the brands gives them both the space to grow to their full potential. Name three wardrobe staples you cannot live without. A leather biker jacket is an essential and a modern classic; our Agyness Leather Jacket has jersey inserts so its gives a great fit. I wear it over day looks but also over more dressy evening outfits. Black ankle boots work with everything – leather leggings, jersey dresses, jeans and t-shirts – I’m constantly wearing mine. I love stripes and this season I’m wearing them in jersey. Our caramel and black striped dress is great for quick and easy everyday style. I wear it over leggings, ankle boots and pop the black Maryna Blazer over it and add long necklaces. Isabella Oliver Maternity was set up to provide stylish pieces for expectant mums; what experiences led you to specifically choose this market? When I was pregnant with my first child it was very difficult to find stylish maternity wear that reflected my usual style. […]

Treat yourself to these 10 accessories that look more expensive than they really are!

We all know that smug feeling when you land something that looks deceptively expensive, but in reality, it isn’t! Our roundup of lust-worthy accessories are a case in point, as they all have the ‘gilt-edged’ factor in common, minus the Hèrmes-esque price tag. The benefits of savvy spending are endless, so when you spot a high end style projecting piece snap it up quicker than Jay-Z signs new talent, because, let’s face it, a top-to-toe designer look is neither original nor financially beneficial! We especially love the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012 inspired alice band with ornate, baroque detailing, and if you quiver at the thought of spending near £300 on a Michael Kors watch (a.k.a The Blogger’s Watch), or worse still, splurging on a Rolex, and are partial to misplacing valuable possessions by desirable designers, then River Island have the perfect pocket-friendly, no-sweat-if-you-lose-it alternative. If minaudières (posh for small hard box) are your thing but Jason Wu’s sky high prices cause you to hyperventilate, then Topshop’s version will put a smile on your face, while a knuckleduster at Stylistpick is just as attention-grabbing as the Alexander McQueen original, and with a prettier price tag, too! OK, we’ll let you get on with snapping up the accessories that’ll make you the envy of your fashion pack, not to mention that smug savvy spender smile you’ll be sporting. ADR’s lifestyle on an intern’s budget personified…. 1. Croc frame crossbody bag, £35, available at Topshop 2. Plate and spike detail waist belt, £15, available at Asos 3. Silver and rose gold tone contrast watch, £35, available at River Island 4. Olympia Gold knuckle duster boxy clutch, £25, available at Stylistpick 5. Natalia Vodianova vs. Hailee Steinfeld in Louis Vuitton

One’s a model, the other a teenage acting prodigy. This week’s fash off is between two ladies on opposite ends of the age spectrum, but on an equal fashion footing. Hollywood darling Hailee Steinfeld and Russian runway royalty, Natalia Vodianova, sported the same Louis Vuitton dress different events. Hailee opted to wear the textured, blue and brown number to the Teen Vogue 10th Anniversary Party last month, whilst Natalia (rather aptly) chose it for the Louis Vuitton SS’13 show earlier this month. Styling wise, Hailee and Natalia took two completely different approaches. Hailee opted for a more red-carpet appropriate demeanour, adding a gold collar, strappy platform heels and a statement clutch, all by Louis Vuitton. Natalia, on the other hand, took a rather risqué route with hers, wearing the near-sheer dress without a bra! She accessorised her look with a Louis Vuitton crocodile and sequin bag, blue suede pumps and carried the perfect cover up from the Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 collection on her arm. But only one out of the two lovely ladies can steal the fash off crown, and this week, we’re firmly placing that crown on…drum roll…Natalia Vodianova’s head! Although Hailee’s red carpet effort is commendable, the glossy ringlet curls and gold collar make the look a little busy on top. There’s too much to focus on, as all the accessories fight for attention at once! Natalia’s look is a little more laissez-faire (well, when in Paris…) and the statement bag is perfectly balanced out against the simple dress. Even off the runway, Ms. Vodianova is busy stealing hearts with her style!

5 reasons why we love the iPhone 5

[noskim] Fashion accessories aren’t strictly limited to handbags and bling you know. As you may be aware, we regularly like to embrace our inner geek, (blame Glee and The Big Bang Theory for making it totally cool again!) and this morning we’ve decided to declare our newfound love for the best accessory out there: the good old iPhone 5! To celebrate the iPhone 5 and its general awesomeness, we decided to give you five of the best reasons (see what we did there?) why you need the new model of the ultimate smartphone in your life. So without further ado, here goes: 1. It’s perfect for the fashion blogger. The camera is the best yet, boasting a panorama capture mode which will prove great for Fashion Week and capturing absolutely every detail at every angle. And as the operating system is faster and slicker than ever, you’ll be able to upload those pics quicker than anyone else! 2. Not only is it great for fashion bloggers, but fashionistas in general will love it. The bigger screen means you see all those clothes on the celebs or on websites (when you’re browsing for your newest wardrobe additions, naturally) in crystal clear definition, making your other technological products more or less redundant. 3. There are lots of great accessories to buy for it. Whether you want something cute and quirky like a Zooey Deschanel approved phone case with bunny rabbit ears and a tail, or something more chic and sophisticated, you’re bound to find pieces to cater to your tastes. Think of it as the ultimate fashion accessory and colour co-ordinate it with your outfit for the maximum wow factor! 4. It’s thinner, sleeker and sexier than ever! No need to carry round laptops, netbooks, iPads etc taking up unnecessary room in […]

5 stylish accessories every woman should own!

Outfit ‘gellers’, closet completers, or wardrobe ‘uniters’: however you prefer to address them, stylish accessories are the cornerstone of an accomplished wardrobe. Fashionably educated women understand that breathtaking looks are perfectly fine and all, but stepping out sans apt accessories to complement an outfit is, well, pretty much like stepping out naked, really! OK, so this may sound extreme, but it holds true that accessories are often responsible for drawing the eyes of fashion conscious onlookers to a particular person’s style. (That conversation-starting clutch; the gasp-inducing, fashion editor-huddling statement necklace, anyone?) Fashion Week street style photography is testament to this, as are the mounting numbers of pages dedicated solely to accessories that are popping up in our favourite glossies. So, what does the perfect accessory-drobe consist of? On-trend, limelight stealing knickknacks (cue: Anna Dello Russo’s accessory-dripping appearances during Fashion Month), or a tightly edited collection of classic go-to pieces you heavily rely on when an outfit needs a little edge? Bring yourself back from accessory free-fall with our quick guide to 5 stylish accessories every woman well versed in the world of fashion should own. 1. The All-purpose Sunnies No discerning style maven is without her sunnies, be it rain or shine! No longer the preserve of sunny days, sunglasses are toys for grown ups, and so the more fun had with these, the better! Opt for a classic, all-rounder shape in a fun hue for sunnies that add instant glam to an off-duty look. House of Harlow Robyn round-frame acetate sunglasses, £110 £55, available at The Outnet 2. The Classic Bag This classic style tote is the perfect outfit hopper. Flitting between chic and functional; the roomy interior, detachable shoulder strap and minimal hardware detailing means you’ll carry your life’s contents on your arm (or shoulder) without compromising a single ounce of style. Tory Burch Robinson […]

What happened when we checked out the Save the Children #bidboutique items for ourselves…

As we told you a few months ago, eBay has teamed up with the British Fashion Council for Born to Shop #bidboutique, the first ever online designer auction which raises money for the amazing charity Save the Children. And in case you hadn’t worked out from the pics above, the wonderful British model and Save the Children ambassador Erin O’Connor is indeed the face of the campaign. (And what a lovely face it is… look how stunning she looks as she models some of the pieces you can snap up in the auction!) “The Born to Shop #bidboutique online auction is part of our No Child Born to Die campaign to stop the needless deaths of more than 7.6 million children every year,” said Rosie Shannon, a spokesperson for Save the Children. “With the money raised from the auction, we will be able to deliver life saving aid to children in some of the world’s poorest countries.” A host of top designers including Alexander McQueen, David Koma, Peter Pilotto, Henry Holland, Holly Fulton, Kurt Geiger and Mary Katrantzou to name but a few have donated some pieces for the auction – and you can check out every single item that’s going under the metaphorical hammer right here.  When I was asked to get in on the action and check out some of the pieces up for auction I jumped at the chance… even if it meant getting in front of the camera and “modelling” (I use the term loosely) them myself. I’ve said it many times before and will continue to say it…  we do love it when fashion and charity come together! In the pic above, I’m wearing a David Koma jumper dress, and carrying an Alexander McQueen clutch, as well as a Pauric Sweeney bag!  I wasn’t the only one […]

Midweek Moodboard: Obsessed with orange!

Yesterday we couldn’t help but gush about Leslie Mann’s cute, summer-ready orange Monique Lhuillier dress and today we are equally as besotted with the shade thanks to another fine appearance by Twilight’s Ashley Greene. Therefore it should come as no surprise to learn that our midweek inspiration comes in the form of the wonderful colour, orange! Sure nothing rhymes with it, but there’s a lot of looks you can get out of the colour. Brighter than its coral counterpart, more daring and playful but just as attention-grabbing as its red neighbour, orange really is one of the ultimate shades of the new season! Victoria Beckham rocks her own designs at Wimbledon

Kate Middleton wasn’t the only royal to lend her support to Andy Murray at Wimbledon yesterday. Fashion royalty Victoria Beckham also sat pretty (and pouting, natch) in the Royal Box with hubby David Beckham at her side. She rocked her trademark oversized black sunglasses, a chic, sleek and voluminous ponytail, and of course, a look from her latest ready-to-wear collection. VB wore a green and black stripe dress from her autumn/winter 2012 collection paired with some knee-high leather boots that she can’t seem to get enough of (our money’s on the Tom Ford ones!) and a black bag also from her collection which she carried as a clutch. Even though this look is very predictable, it doesn’t make it any less fabulous. Having said that however, we’d like to see Posh experiment with her style a bit more. We guess we’ll start seeing some new dress styles once her new-season collection debuts on the runway in a few months, but if she mixed it up before then we’d be very happy bunnies indeed! 50s Ladylike: Channel your inner domestic goddess

The domestic goddess is back for the spring season with a vengeance. It’s no longer about the softly dressed, apron donning 50s housewife anymore, but her sharper edged alter ego. She’s back with a doting affection for pop pastels, print and sharp primness rather than the baking kit. Think pop pastels, knee length fit and flare dresses and statement crystal jewels. We love that she takes both the fashion stakes and the kitchen by storm and has an air of rebellion about her – she won’t lift a single pan because the new season isn’t about submitting to the rules, but rather bending them backwards. For spring summer 2012, the mid century modern aesthetic ruled, and it meant a fun revival of 50s retro style, with Jason Wu, Prada and Erdem all playing to the tune of the 50s housewife with a heavenly wardrobe. For this week’s Runway to Bedroom Mirror we’ve selected pieces that exude femininity while at the same time deliver on the fun factor. Enjoy playing domestic goddess, even it it’s for a little while, without having to set foot in the kitchen!   Mulberry Harriet Clutch Wallet Bag, £350, available at Matches Bow Trim Pleat Front Top, £140, available at Jaeger Venezia8 Enzo Angiolini, £125, available at Kurt Geiger Animal Jacquard Skirt, £38, available at Topshop Alexander McQueen Freshwater Pearl Ring, £225, available at Matches Erdem Marlena Floral Printed Dress, £1,035, available at My Theresa Maison Du Posh Embellished Clutch, £395, available at Selfridges Cat Eye Sunglasses with Cut Away Detail, £12, available at ASOS Maxmara Verace Dress, £289, available at Harrods Krystal Swarovski Crystal Drop Earrings, £20, available at ASOS

Get the Look: Rita Ora in Hussein Chalayan

Rita Ora first hit the MFL when she turned up at the Vivienne Westwood Red Label show at London Fashion Week looking super-cool in a tailored blue-grey trouser suit, red lippie and shades. Since then her retro-fabulous style has been catching our eye all over the place; from the Brit Awards to her evenings in London. Being Jay-Z’s latest protégée does nothing to harm her street cred, but we think her style merits its own respect.  Appearing at the NME Awards, Rita looked like a vision in white wearing a Hussein Chalayan trouser suit from the designer’s S/S 12 collection. She paired the masculine-inspired look with a spiked Christian Louboutin ‘Marquise’ Python Clutch and a gorgeous pair of nude B Brian Atwood ‘Bambola’ pumps. She might have looked a million bucks but, thankfully, we have tracked down pieces which will let you get the look for less. 1. Calling Apollo Jacket:This draped jacket from French Connection is the epitome of laid-back chic… £172, available at French Connection. 2. Farhi by Nicole Farhi White Stretch Trousers: These Nicole Farhi are a perfect summer staple and look just as good in the evening as in the day…£135, available at my-wardrobe. 3. Sultry High Platform Courts: We can’t believe these leg-lengthening nude pumps aren’t designer…£65, available at Topshop. 4. Diane Von Furstenberg Harper Clutch: Rock up the look with this Diane Von Furstenberg clutch. We love the metal hardware and tassel details… £355, available at Matches.

Rate or Slate: Katy Perry vs Emily Blunt vs Leigh Lezark

This week’s Rate or Slate is a real corker, because we love it when celebrities really step out of their style comfort zones and embrace the unexpected. First up, taking a brazen fashion stance – something she is more than partial to – is Katy Perry. Attending the Viktor & Rolf fall 2012 show in Paris, Katy ensured her popping blue hair colour matched her outfit, as she donned a black shift dress and contrasting cobalt blue coat from the design duos spring summer 2012 collection. Devil Wears Prada actress, Emily Blunt, opted for a Naeem Khan fall 2012 number at the LA premiere of her latest movie, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. Usually seen in form-fitting red-carpet dresses, this was definitely a silhouette detour for Emily. DJ, model and muse Leigh Lezark brightened up a dull, grey, wet Paris fashion week morning by sporting a standout, canary yellow Sonia Rykiel suit to the designer’s fall 2012 show; a brave colour choice by the standards of someone who is almost always seen in black. It’s over to our Style Jury….  My Fashion Life News Ed says: Katy Perry: ‘You’ll hardly ever find me say anything negative about Katy Perry, and this time is no different. I would have lost the tights or worn my hair down as it looks a tad secretary chic (an uber stylish, gorgeous secretary, mind) but this is definitely my favourite. Gorgeous!’ Emily Blunt: ‘I think this dress totally drowned Emily, which is a shame because I usually love her red carpet style. If the hemline was shorter and she added some bold, flirty accessories, she could have got away with it but something isn’t right here. I don’t think the shoes help either.’ Leigh Lezark: ‘Kudos for going for something so bright and out of […]
