Rihanna is definitely going Hard. Residing in London for the past few days, she’s been a perfect reflection of the celebrity excess we mere mortals can only crave. Excessive partying, eclectic displays of personal style, house hunting in Hoxton and a whole load of inter-star mingling that had Kate Moss nickname the Bajan superstar “honey cups” – Rihanna really has coloured herself in the hue of London life. And, if her recent remark at footballer Emmanuel Adebayor’s 28th birthday bash was anything to go by, then our London hearts are beating so fast, major tube delays combined with out of order tube station escalators couldn’t even come close. While partying with the footie crew – where she turned up as a surprise guest – at London’s Aura nightclub, Rihanna said: “I wanna be a Euro 2012 Wag. This rocks.” Her words struck a chord with our love for fashion – WAG-inspired fashion to put it precisely. No, were not championing traditional WAG gear, but what’s the harm in a little improvisation when it comes to RiRi’s WAG wardrobe? We’d like to add, however, that if Rihanna does decide to embrace London as her home, then we’d want her to do it in her Good Girl Gone Bad guise, because that’s why we’ve really come to love her. For some reason, it seems impossible to imagine RiRi gracing WAG favourite Cricket Boutique anytime soon… But, if she were to fulfill her wish of WAG-dom and bag a footballer while mingling with the London set, here’s a little imagined preview of the staples she’d probably need to sport to really fit the bill…. The tailored, luxe leather jacket to be seen in for those emergency salon trips and the odd/rare grocery shopping trip. Alexander McQueen Laced Leather Jacket, £2,795, My Theresa The tighter and […]

Five fab snakeskin pieces under £50
Here at MFL, we love all types of animal print; leopard, zebra, tiger, crocodile. You name it, we’ve pretty much tried it. But there is one print that we have special style affection for- snakeskin. There is something really cool and effortless about snakeskin that other prints just can’t touch. Leopard print might look glam on certain occasions but, worn the wrong way and you might just verge into Bet Lynch territory (shudder). Snakeskin on the other hand, is more subtle, more refined and more blasé. We love! Thankfully it is super-hot right now and investing in a piece will see you right through summer. Here are our top five picks which are all, miraculously, under £50. 1.If you haven’t ventured into the style mecca that is Stylist Pick, you need to now. This clutch and purse set is modern, fashion forward and panelled with just the right amount of snakeskin. Cindy Multi Clutch and Purse Set, £39.95, available at Stylist Pick 2. What could be more chic than this gorgeous little leather snakeskin flap over wallet from Reiss. We love the simplistic design and luxe feel. Oh and did we mention it’s in the sale? Reiss Mario Square Flap Over Wallet, £69 £34, available at Reiss 3.Everyone from Rihanna to Alexa are huge fans of hi-tops and these snakeskin ones from Stylist Pick tick all the right boxes. Wear with rolled up jeans and a loose knit sweater now and with shorts and a vest when summer, eventually, arrives. Outlet shopping has suffered its unfair share of negative bias for long enough, but if we’re honest, we really don’t understand why. Luxury labels and big name brands with up to 60% off? Your fave high street stores at pound-saving prices? And all under the same proverbial roof? Frankly, what’s not to love? And, dare we mention it, in the current doom and gloom of the economic climate, it’s one of the most sensible ways to shop, too. And so it was that we took a trip to the UK’s largest – and Europe’s first – designer outlet, Cheshire Oaks, to put it to the trend test and see whether we could snap up some seriously stylish garbs for the season. Since opening in 1995 as part of the McArthurGlen group (Europe’s leader in designer outlet retailing), Cheshire Oaks attracts 8.5 million visitors a year – something tells us those savvy shoppers know they’re onto a good thing – to its 145 stores. And what do you know, with 1.2 miles of style, the ample stock that’s been expertly-selected to work with the season is especially impressive (and amazingly affordable). We hunted out the hottest 10 items for winter, from classic coats to crepe-soled shoes, that we reckon will knock your lurex Falke socks off. See below for our pick of must-have pieces (you won’t believe they’re from an outlet, either). Nicole Farhi Chunky Wool Monochrome Jumper. Carvela Suede Berry Lace Up Shoes, £91 (RRP £130). Read MoreHighlights from High Street Fashion Week
This is a guest post by Lois Mills, one of our (frankly brilliant) competition winners. In her first-rate role as fashion reporter, Lois has been hitting London’s Oxford Street every day this week to sample the best of High Street Fashion Week and all the fun it’s offered. Find out what she got up to when she visited Selfridges’ vlogging booth and hunted down the biggest bargains… High Street Fashion Week should definitely be changed to High Street Fashion Month – with all the crazy and un-missable fashion moments going on, it’s no wonder I sacrificed mealtimes to get more involved! Having had a briefing on Monday about what was in store over the five days, I was set and raring to get onto that high street! After being unable to get myself available for Tuesday’s events, I was overly enthusiastic about Wednesday, with a tip-off about a ‘vlogging’ booth that was popping up in Selfridges. The cute yellow-striped box looked like it should be filled with sweets rather than a recording opportunity, but the giveaway signs of girls clutching their discounted purchases led me think to otherwise. Having not been on the street too long, I sadly had no steals to show off on camera, but that didn’t stop me talking to myself about a fantastic Warehouse studded dress I’d walked past and my plans for the rest of the week. Oxford Street has never seen so many happy faces; and had I not have been aware of all the amazing discounts and events taking place throughout the stores, the huge ‘30% off’ sign outside BHS certainly confirmed my suspicions. Now, though I would not normally see myself as a your typical BHS shopper, I wondered around anyway for a glimpse of some bargains; and for those of you […]

Continuing our affinity with all things midnight-blue, we’ve moved on from the leather satchel to wax lyrical about spring’s coolest cover up: the trench coat. This staple piece combines effortless style with the comfort of keeping snug on chilly spring days. Slightly offhand in this deep sapphire hue, we love how the trench weaves itself naturally into our spring wardrobe, working well with skinny jeans, heels and a cross-body bag in the day or over a pretty cocktail dress for a chic, evening cover up. We’re seriously coveting Elizabeth and James’ Bogart twill trench, complete with a Far Eastern kick thanks to the kimono style belt-up and ruched half sleeves. Creating an elegant, cinched-waist silhouette, we want to pop this over a perfect summer soiree cocktail dress, teamed with contrasting heels and a clutch for instant, laid-back chic with a glamorous edge! But boasting a flashy price tag of £530, there’s one thing this trench is sure to break – the bank balance. Enter high street saviour Topshop’s equally stylish and inexpensive steal. We’ve just about recovered from the excitement of the Royal wedding with its vast array of stylish guests and, of course, Kate Middleton’s breathtakingly beautiful McQueen gown – but the weekend hit us with more star-studded events as the Met Costume Institute Gala landed in New York last night. The Met Ball brings the best of the fashion, film and music industry together for a night of fabulous fashion and exhibitions, and this year’s gala was hosted by none other than Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who honoured the late Alexander McQueen with an exhibition called Savage Beauty. Naturally, the prestigious event is harder to get into than Wonka’s chocolate factory, so we’ve cast our sartorial eye over the fashion elite who bagged a Golden Ticket and strutted their stylish stuff on the red carpet. Here’s our top 10 best dressed from last night’s Met Ball… Ashley Green She may play a vampire in Twilight, but Ashley Green managed to look positively angelic in a custom Donna Karen strapless gown. The nude voluminous tulle was adorned with silver sequins that trailed into a wedding-like train. Teamed with a sleek up-do and touches of sparkle in her ears, clutch and cuff, she looked positively radiant. Jessica Alba Always one to look utterly fabulous on the red carpet, Jessica Alba didn’t disappoint at last night’s Met Ball dressed in a custom Ralph Lauren platinum strapless bustier gown covered in a sparkly crystal-encrusted overlay that highlighted her growing baby bump. Blake Lively Being the face of Chanel has been a dream come true for this Gossip Girl starlet, and last night she was joined by Mr Karl Lagerfield himself. Naturally, Blake opted for Chanel couture by means of a nude embellished dress covered by silver-lilac a chiffon sash to flaunt her fabulous figure too much. Beyoncé […]
Read MoreBritish fashion reigns at the Met Ball
For an event that usually champions the best of American fashion, last night’s Met Ball saw a surprising amount of stars wearing gowns from British designers. Perhaps it was a nod towards last night’s honouree, the late Alexander McQueen, who’s life and work was celebrated in an accompanying exhibition, Savage Beauty, or maybe the world hasn’t quite recovered from royal wedding fever just yet – but either way, the Brits ruled the red carpet. Dressing the most celebs was Stella McCartney – also clad in her own label – who decked out an impressive 14 stars in her dresses (save a jumpsuit for Iman), including Rihanna, Naomi Watts, Eva Mendes, Maggie Gyllenhaal and BFFs Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Thandie Newton and Madonna. Also high up on the most-spotted list was, unsurprisingly, Alexander McQueen. Sarah Burton wore a white dress by her own design to honour her friend and mentor, while Daphne Guinness, Naomi Campbell, Gisele, Coco Rocha, Anna Dello Russo, Karen Elson, Racquel Zimmerman and Salma Hayek and Sarah Jessica Parker all paid tribute to the designer. And the list of Brits doesn’t stop there – Erdem dressed Lily Donaldson in a floor-length navy lace gown, Burberry bagged Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to wear a satin rose gown and nude python clutch, and Alexa Chung wore new-season Christopher Kane. Stay tuned for our round-up of the best and worst dressed from last night’s Met Ball.

Read MoreFrom football to fashion: Victoria Beckham’s rise to designer darling
I’ll level with you, I really like Victoria Beckham. I always have (even when all she could do was pout and mime), except, perhaps, for that awful wag phase, but even then I always had a sneaky eye cast over her. Trouble is, I’ve never liked what she’s worn – until her recent style makeover. Yesterday she celebrated her 37th birthday in Beverly Hills (where else?) and it got me thinking about her career. I wonder if Victoria Beckham ever envisioned she’d have a fashion empire and a name as one of the most sought-after designers before she hit 40? I didn’t see it coming when I was dancing to Wannabe, I tell ya. Since the launch of her eponymous dress collection, which has now expanded into handbags and sunglasses, like you didn’t know, she’s been heralded season after season for her elegant feminine designs that just keep getting stronger. Sure, she might have ripped off found inspiration from Roland Mouret and pinched a design from Osman, but if you can’t put your friendship with women’s favourite designers to good use what’s the meaning of life anyway? I kid. Credit where credit’s due, Victoria can design, and she can do it brilliantly. Impeccable tailoring and and fit to flatter every woman’s figure, her signature draping and exquisite cuts are earning her brownie points in fashion editors’ diaries and beyond – utterly chic, utterly Beckham. And her move into handbags was nothing short of genius. Classic, timeless and totally sophisticated, she’s surpassed everyone’s expectations with uber elegant designs that are screaming to be worn everywhere, and though I admit I’ve never seen one in real life, Victoria’s extensive Birken collection and Hillier’s know-how assures me they’ll be exquistely executed. A few years ago I’d have laughed if you said Victoria Beckham […]

Midi skirts are very unique in that they’re quite possibly the only skirt that make people shudder in horror more than the mini. The fear of an unflattering skirt length making us look like a librarian is enough to make anyone avoid it, sure, but when worn well spring’s in between-length skirts can look utterly divine. Their loose fit and longer length means you don’t have to worry about wobbly bits, control underwear or the discomfort that comes with bodycon mini’s, and their versatility is ever-surprising. And if that’s not enough to convince you, this gorgeous Mango floral print midi will change your mind. Read MoreOlivia Rubin launches capsule accessories collection for Dune
Olivia Rubin’s highly-anticipated collection for Dune hit stores last weekend, and as pictures from the collection quickly make their way online, we popped down to the online launch last night to take a closer look at the collaboration. Fans of the London designer will be pleased to know she’s worked her signature prints across a range of shoes and bags for the high street store, where killer platforms, party-ready pumps, everyday wedges and adorable flats sit alongside silk clutches and handheld totes. Taking three key prints from her previous ready-to-wear collections, there’s three distinct directions – a contemporary take on classic monochrome, a playful Seventies disco vibe fusing arty prints with vibrant colour pops, and a softer neutral print reminiscent of Seventies safari. “It has been an incredible experience working with Dune on this collaboration and bringing a selection of my signature prints onto a range of both classic and contemporary shoes and accessories,” says Olivia. “They understand my vision as a designer and together we worked on creating a collection that has something for everybody – I can’t wait to wear them myself!” And she did last night – her favourites are the Warhol platforms (incidentally, each shoe is named after an artist), but more on that later. Olivia Rubin for Dune is available in Dune stores and online now, with prices ranging from £65 for a multi-coloured pump to £110 for the statement raffia platform sandals – we suggest getting in there quickly, they’re set to go down a storm. Psst – watch our interview with Olivia here to find out more. [nggallery id=9]

Read MoreGet the look: Hilary Swank in Giorgio Armani
Hilary Swank was a show-stopper this week at the 14th Annual Hollywood Awards Gala in Beverly Hills. The actress wore an oriental-inspired red number from Giorgio Armani’s AW10 collection and, naturally, pulled the outfit off effortlessly – we love her simple look, which draws all eyes to the dress with barely there, on-trend nude accessories. Her choice of natural makeup highlights the vibrant colour of the crimson cocktail dress whilst still giving her a healthy, fresh-faced glow – and her simple up ‘do keeps her look relaxed, showing off the asymmetric design at its best. We couldn’t wait to recreate her look as soon as she hit the red carpet, so here are our top picks for how to wear a Little Red Dress, Swank style… Twisted Slinky One Shoulder Dress, £36, ASOS We love this classic-yet-contemporary red asymmetric dress from ASOS in a similar cut and shade to Hilary’s Armani piece with cleverly-crafted diagonal draping detail for a flattering fit. And while it doesn’t share the same oriental rose print, there’s no reason why we can’t dust off our sewing machines and try our hand at some DIY if you want to add a touch of sparkle. Embellished Box Bag, £65, Topshop In a similar gold tone and hard case design to Ms. Swank’s, this ultra-elegant statement clutch will add instant sparkle to any outfit. The gold trim and all-over sequins are a sleek alternative to plain satin clutches, and the glass beads and metallic embellishments are guaranteed to make your clutch stand out from the rest. Nine West Boucle Peep-toe Platform, £95 £55, Kurt Geiger Hilary’s nude silk courts keep her outfit looking classy whilst acting as the perfect neutral partners for her statement Armani dress. Read MoreTK Maxx dress challenge- vote for us!
Dare we mention the current economic climate? Well, we can’t pretend it doesn’t affect the way we shop. We can’t justify a wear-once piece any more – our purchases need to serve us a greater purpose; they need to act as a long-term investment. But believe it or not, this feature actually isn’t about world economy, it’s about a little challenge TK Maxx have approached us with. They’ve been thinking about investment buys, too – so much so, they’ve asked us to take part in a dress challenge with a few other folks to prove our styling skills. Now, eagle-eyed readers may remember we did something similar earlier in the year, and the premise is very simple: TK Maxx give us a dress (in this case an on-trend black lace shift falling at fashion’s favourite midi length) and we re-work it to suit four different occasions for the party season, hence proving its wearability and our discerning eye for style… or something. So, without further ado, below are our four looks: 1. Girls night out Items: Acne Rita aviator jacket, £745, Browns; Lipstick in Beguild, £8, Topshop; Peeptoe cuffed suede shoe, £95, Urban Outfitters; Reiss Dilys chain bag, £195, ASOS 2. Work Xmas party Items: By Malene Birger Pipina sequinned mademoiselle jacket, £209, my-wardrobe.com; Yves Saint Laurent Rouge pur Couture lipstick, £22, Debenhams; ASOS Black gunmetal box clutch, £36, ASOS; Surface to Air toe cap court, £240, Urban Outfitters 3. First date Items: Armand Basi camel coat, £353, my-wardobe.com; Reiss Leopard Satchel, £245, ASOS; Carvela Sophia boot, £150, Kurt Geiger 4. Birthday party Items: BADgal kohl pencil, £14, Benefit; Low Luv by Erin Wasson feather ring, £38, my-wardrobe.com; Mulberry plum Margaret clutch, £450, my-wardrobe.com; Lexi suede block heel sandals, £50, Topshop; Starting from this morning, TK Maxx will be uploading […]
Read MoreGet the look: Diane Kruger in Prabal Gurung
New York’s Fashion’s Night Out kicked off a week of great style proceedings in the American city. It’s hard to pick just one look we love, but as usual Diane Kruger is faultless in each ensemble we’ve seen her in. Starting the week in Prabal Gurung, Kruger is effortlessly modern in a scarlet red dress and grey hiking boots – a look we think is easily-translatable, and one we can’t couldn’t wait to imitate in this week’s Get the look. Oasis Bow Shift dress, £55, Selfridges The detail in Diane’s dress lifts a plain red mini into more exciting territory. We love Oasis’ shift dress, available at Selfridges, which offers the same impact via a neat bow design and ruffles around the shoulder. Alaia Lace-up suede ankle boots, £1000, Net-a-Porter Diane’s hiker boot is a great seasonal update on tough footwear, and contrasts well with her feminine dress. These Alaia lace-up ankle boots are equally as fascinating (we love the tread and soft suede combo) – not just your average night out shoes. Miu Miu Bow-embellished satin clutch, £370, Net-a-Porter Ms. Kruger may have decided she didn’t need a bag to stroll around the shops in, but we’d find any night tough without a faithful clutch to hand. With Miu Miu’s satin bag the bow theme lives on in a pretty but sharp outfit. Topshop Eyeshadow Duo in Rocky Road, £6, Topshop Finally, nothing is complete without the right makeup. Diane’s gone for subtle autumn shades, so we’ve followed suit with Topshop’s duo eyeshadow in Rocky Road – perfect brown hues that won’t detract from the main focus on the outfit.

Read MoreChloe press day AW2010
We were just a tad excited to be invited to the AW2010 Chloe press day and were even more so when we arrived and got to sneak a peek at the (drum roll please…) Darla shoulder bag – the most recent addition to the Chloe family. Pictured above and just below, the Darla nods to a 60s aesthetic, with a refined and elegant style that captures the feel of Mulberry’s Bayswater or Hermes’ Birkin. Available in a broad colour palette and a range of luxurious fabrics including box and nubuck calfskin, the chic Darla is sure to be the go-to bag for stylish women on the go. While the ‘it bag’ may be seen as a thing of the past, the traditional-looking Darla looks to be stepping in, affirming itself as the new bag to take notice of. The terracotta and deep purple versions were our top picks for the coming season, while the calfskin (treated like leopard print pony skin) goes for ultimate luxury that begs to be touched – and is perhaps more of an acquired taste. The popular Sally style has also made a welcome return in the same fabric as the Darla, offering an evening bag alternative to its travel-inspired sibling. Whilst the Chloe bags ultimately stole the show, most of the presentation was actually reserved for the fashion house’s youthful, secondary line: See by Chloe. With shoes, bags and a selection of clothing on show, we were especially excited to see that the younger brand has kept hold of that fun yet feminine personality throughout the entire collection. With sleek, heeled chelsea boots, over-the-knee suede boots and wooden wedge slingbacks forming a portion of the shoe collection, See by Chloe look to be acknowledging the trends of recent seasons (and even spring/summer 2010 with those […]

As if we needed another reason to envy Cheryl Cole. The gorgeous X Factor judge stepped out in Cannes yesterday with a pale gold Anya Hindmarch Marano clutch, before going on to perform at a film festival after-party. Looking summery and sophisticated in the French Riviera, the Girls Aloud member teamed her luxurious, suede-lined clutch with Victoria Beckham-esque sunglasses, pretty pastels and – one of our favourite items for spring – a white blazer. The evening box clutch from Anya Hindmarch is a classic in the making, adding instant glam to the simplest of ensembles. It might not be the most spacious of evening bags but really, when you’re tanning it up in France and performing for the A-listers, what more could you possibly need except a bit of lippy? Read MoreTK Maxx styling challenge
We like to think of ourselves as somewhat style-savvy here at My Fashion Life, so when our friends at TK Maxx asked us to take part in a styling challenge, rise we did. So here’s the deal: TK Maxx give us one dress from their spring collection which we then style in three different ways for three very different scenarios. Easy, non? Well, we’ll let you be the judge of that. The dress in question is this cute floral tea dress, £16.99 (pictured) – admittedly not the easiest dress to style, with its fussy neckline and hip sash detail, but it’s pretty nonetheless (though truth be told, we prefer some of the dresses dealt out to the other bloggers involved). And actually, that’s what makes this challenge a little tricky, because you guys have to vote for your favourite look. But anyway, that’s quite enough of an introduction for one day, so let’s get to the nitty gritty: behold below our final looks. Look one – meeting the boyfriend’s parents: Accessories: cropped denim jacket – Topshop, £40; Miu Miu nude canvas tote – Net-a-Porter, £750; black wedge clogs – Topshop, £50; Mac Tinted Lipgloss in Ember Glow – Mac, £12. On a day which injects fear into the toughest girls’ hearts, being comfortable is key to surviving ’til tea-time; scrap those five-inch heels, save on sparkles and sequins, and scrape off the excess makeup – we’re going for grown-up cute, here. Keep things simple and up-to-date with a cropped denim jacket and a nude canvas bag: both say relaxed without being scruffy. To inject a real style statement, opt for these black suede clog wedges – not only are they bang on trend, they’re practical, too, and add a little edge to offset the sweetness. A slick of tinted gloss […]
Read MoreRadley AW2010 press day
When we headed down to Radley to view their autumn/winter collection recently, we fell head over heels for the handbag range, which is also going into its second season of footwear. Classic Radley styles have been updated in sumptuous autumnal shades of burnt orange, mauve and olive green and exciting details were added for aesthetic purposes as much as practicality. Inspired largely by 1920s Bloomsbury, their next collection features some beautiful tweed offerings, evoking that British charm that is found in all of Radley’s hand-crafted designs and the range even includes a couple of shiny clutches in black and purple, marking their first season of patent bags. Our favourite of the lot – aside from the large olive-green and tweed number – was definitely the oversized clutch in tan, featuring a central embossed symbol, which looked to be a real departure for Radley. Whilst Radley have experimented with new fabrics and introduced designs such as the brogue-detailed handbag and purses (a nice touch, perhaps influenced by the recent addition of footwear to the label), we are definitely seeing less of the classic, Radley pooch across designs. He’s still there of course, representing the brand, but he is notably smaller and less on show and as much as we love the little pup, we have to admit that this is a move we definitely approve of. Radley’s across body pocket bag continues to be one of their best sellers due to its practicality and since the brand are committed to updating classics rather than changing them, we can expect to see slight alterations come autumn/winter, with an added popper fastening attached to the pocket bag’s feature front compartment. On show as well were the popular non-leather items and umbrella’s bringing a sense of fun to the collection, with eye-popping colour and […]
Read MoreLunchtime buy: Vivienne Westwood framer purse
We all need to swap purses every once in a while and more than often, it’s to enable us to squeeze all our essentials into a tiny clutch that just won’t cater for our everyday wallet, bursting with old receipts and numerous store cards. This pocket purse from Vivienne Westwood is the perfect item for these occasions, as it is small enough to fit in an evening bag but also has plenty of room for notes and cards, separating the coin compartment with an elegant kiss-lock clasp. The purple, leather number closes with a popper fastening and more importantly, features Westwood’s signature orb logo in silver, blue and red. What’s more, the patent fabric means that it’s wipe-clean! Just what we need when we’re at the bar, ordering another round of cocktails… £102 from Urban Outfitters.
Read MoreASOS Access All Areas: SS10
Spring has finally sprung – cor we’ve heard that a lot lately, but last week we did notice the sun’s effort to shine– which means the hunt for our summer wardrobe has well and truly begun. So when we received an invite from ASOS to their Access All Areas event, which promised to flaunt the finest spring frippery we ever did see (and give us the chance to try it) we jumped for joy. Literally, though it may have been more of a bounce, we can’t quite remember now. Well, what a stylish soiree it was. With the high summer collection lining the walls, we rummaged through rails of nude chiffons, tribal prints bold and blurred, sequin-embellished dresses, luxe sportswear and maxi dresses, and oohed and ahhed over an assortment of statement accessories and possibly the most fashionable footwear we’ve yet to lay eyes on this season (we’re talking lace-up shoeboots, wooden stack heels, tan suede peeptoes fit for a rodeo queen and all that drool-worthy jazz). Actually, looking back at the over-size woven leather clutches, bucket bags and fab fringed satchels, we’d go as far as saying the accessories stole the show. Anyway back to our story. Have we got to the part about the canapes yet? We ate lots of those, yummy things they were, and we also supped too much champers. But back to business. So as we fought our way to our favourite pieces – a pair of tailored black suede shorts (sadly not in our size), a cropped holepunched soft sweater and a nude contrast-panel chiffon zip-back top alongside a maxidress or two, FYI – we grabbed what we loved (or what fitted) and headed for a photoshoot via a quick-fix makeover from Illamasqua and hairstylist Han (big hair guru). Yes yes yes we know […]

Last night’s 82nd Academy Awards were full of memorable moments. Not only did The Hurt Locker pip the box-office smash Avatar to the post on more than one occasion, but Neil Patrick Harris (a.k.a. Doogie Howser) opened the event with a camp and surreal musical display of sequins and feathers and Ben Stiller dressed up as a Na’vi. Yep, he had the tail and everything. But before the ceremony began, we took a look at the red carpet to have a nosey at the stars to see what they were saying about their films… and more importantly, who dressed them. Here’s a few of the lovely ladies and the gowns they chose for 2010’s Oscars. Elizabeth Banks – Versace One of the best dressed of the night was Elizabeth banks who had previously hosted Oscar’s Scientific and Technical Awards the night before. Dressed in a risky grey Versace gown, Banks opted for a thin hairband with her up ‘do and peach-coloured eye shadow. Sandra Bullock – Marchesa Best Actress winner, Sandra Bullock looked every inch the Hollywood star in this glamourous number from Marchesa. It’s a bit too metallic for our liking but the hair and makeup round off the classic look perfectly. Carey Mulligan – Prada Brit newcomer Carey Mulligan has had some great red carpet moments recently and this one might just be her best yet. The black number from Prada features a flattering sweetheart neckline with a box pleat skirt that could have so easily ended in disaster. We couldn’t see closely enough but apparently, the dress is embellished with Swarovski flowers and knife, fork and scissor charms! Amanda Seyfried – Armani Prive We can’t help but think this Armani Prive drowned Amanda Seyfried. It also probably didn’t help that J Lo was wearing a fairly similar […]

Fashion and function are terms that regularly cross paths but only recently have we seen an influx of designers getting creative with technology. Not only are fashion houses and retailers bridging the gap between catwalks and the consumer by launching phone applications, tweeting on a regular basis and live streaming fashion week shows; they’re putting their names to a whole host of products, making our day-to-day technological appliances that little bit nicer to look at. From Fendi to Gareth Pugh, we can honestly say that the contents of our handbag have never looked so well dressed. See our top five gadget accessories, below: Mulberry Daria sleeve for 13″ MacBook It might look like an oversized clutch, but this sleeve, inspired by Mulberry’s Daria range, was designed in collaboration with Apple to protect your MacBook. When did practical ever look so pretty? £350 from Mulberry. AnOther iPhone shell by Gareth Pugh for Incase Gareth Pugh designed this monochrome iPhone case as part of his capsule collection for AnOther magazine and Parisian boutique colette, which brings together fashion and technology in a limited edition, bold aesthetic. Pugh’s graphic was also added to a 13″ MacBook pro sleeve, which incorporates his signature star print. £53 from AnOther Shop. Jaeger BlackBerry case Replacing the BlackBerry case that I so carelessly lost a few months ago, is this bright number from Jaeger. Available in orange and lemon yellow, it also makes finding the damn thing in the depths of an oversized tote much easier. Hurrah! £20 – £25 from Jaeger. Fendi laptop case So, apparently the Mulberry MacBook sleeve is only fit for an Apple but this Fendi neoprene laptop case isn’t so prejudiced. The hot pink protector features a zip pocket and is perfect for the girly girl on her commute. £225 from Net-a-Porter. […]

The (admittedly few) sunny days we’ve had this week have really got us looking forward to warmer months and since we’ve already given our current wardrobe a good old spring clean, we like to think that we deserve a bit of seasonal indulgence. In an early attempt to create our spring wish list, we’ve compiled some of our favourite pieces for the coming season. If we’re honest, there were a lot more than 20 but we’ve managed to narrow down our options to some key items. What are your thoughts? Let us know the items you’re after this spring! Camilla Skovgaard mules For those that aren’t too keen on the idea of clogs for spring, why not invest in a pair of mules. This pair come courtesy of one of our favourite shoe designers of the moment. £280 from Net-a-Porter. AG Adriano Goldschmied boyfriend jeans You can never go wrong with a pair of boyfriend jeans. Team these with flats or heels and if you’re feeling extra daring, add a denim shirt for Chloe’s take on spring. $225 from Shopbop. Topshop bralet Underwear as outerwear is big news this season. Have a little fun with the trend by mixing bold prints with this daring bralet from Topshop. £20 from Topshop. Mulberry Alexa Ah, the Mulberry Alexa. If you haven’t got the it bag of the year so far, then worry not. Net-a-Porter is at your service with more on the way soon… £795 from Net-a-Porter. Lipsy Grecian drape dress Body-con is soo last season. Take a tip from Alber Elbaz and Roland Mouret by opting for the drape dress. This Lipsy number gets a massive thumbs up from us. £65 from Lipsy.
