Review: Love From New York by DKNY
Think of Romance and what comes to mind? Paris, Rome or Barcelona? DKNY have made love global and brought it into the 21st century with their ‘Love From New York’ fragrance. Inspired by couples walking hand in hand through central park and a late night ferry ride across the Hudson – this new scent is as sweet as candy floss in a fair ground. Infused with Water Lilly, Fresia and Black Current ‘Love From new York’ certainly seems to capture the essence of falling in love, its spontaneity and the innocence of those first few breaths of romance. With a sweet smell that lingers for hours – much like a first date – this new fragrance from DKNY is great for a spring fling – but like any date – spectators beware; the mere power of it, may leave you nauseous.

The other day Chanel hosted a small cocktail event in their showroom to preview their latest Coco Cocoon collection which hits stores in early August. The showroom is gorgeous! Sadly no photography is allowed inside, but I was able to get my hands on some of their professionally shot handbag images. Coco Cocoon is a relatively new addition to the Chanel family – the first line made its debut at the end of 2009 and was supported by an ad campaign featuring Lily Allen. Each handbag in the sportier, more casual collection is made of either leather or lightweight nylon and many of them are reversible. This season, for the first time, there are some orylag fur-accented bags in the mix and one matte-finish alligator skin bag (somewhat of a surprise given that the main RTW Fall 2010 Chanel accessory collection was crafted exclusively using faux-fur). Among the colors in the Fall line are Blue, Charcoal and Light Grey, Ivory, Cobalt Blue, Chocolate, Silver, and of course, Black.

“I’ll take you to the candy shop…I’ll let you lick the lollipop… no, not 50 Cent’s candy shop, DKNY’s! With their new fragrances DKNY literally want you to step into their candy shop, taking you back to a time where pick ‘n’ mix sat next to toffee apples at fair grounds! The catch? You don’t actually get the sticky toffee apple, fizzy cola bottles, dummy rings or marshmallows. You just get to smell them. So in a mini egg shell (Cadbury’s , it’s nearly Easter time , have you noticed?) DKNY are releasing another apple shaped fragrance, but this time the fruit is given a sweet tooth and the smell is infused with notes of candy. Delicious? Certainly, but it left me wishing Woolworths and their pick ‘n’ mix stands still stood on every corner! The smell is fun and flirty, and defo a scent for the young. Available nationwide at Boots from 17th March, DKNY Candy Apples are £30 and come in three flavours. My favourite? Juicy Berry. It’s not because purple’s my favourite colour. Promise!

Is there no stopping this man? Since joining Burberry in 2001 he’s taken the British brand from strength to strength, and now, he’s received a promotion, taking him from creative director to chief creative officer. The new position recognises his contribution to the luxury label beyond his designing role, with chief executive, Angela Ahrendts, confessing the company is “more cohesive than at any time in the company’s history, owing to the “clarity, consistency, and purity of his amazing vision. Well that’s a pretty big boost for his ego, isn’t it? Mr. Bailey, 38, is responsible for all of Burberry’s collections , including the Prorsum, Brit, London and Sport labels, as well as accessories, underwear and fragrance , and has sent sales soaring by a £1.5 billion turnover since his joining. He also oversaw the design and development of Burberry’s new Horseferry House headquarters, which was given the royal seal approval last month when Prince Charles paid a visit, and is a trustee of the Burberry Foundation, which he set up last year with Ahrendts, WWD reports. And that’s not to mention the social networking site he’s just launched. So in answer to our initial question, no, it seems there is no stopping the brains behind Burberry. Congratulations, Christopher!

Don’t worry, she hasn’t hit anyone. Apparently the supermodel could be headed back to court, though , this time over a dispute with the company who help produce her products because she’s cut them out of the pay packet. Moodform Mission, the venture that helped Ms. Campbell produce and market her cosmetics and fragrances, including Naomi Campbell, Cat Deluxe and Seductive Elixir, said it was cut out of its portion of the income last year and sued the supermodel on Monday for breach of contract. Acknowledging it received a share of Naomi’s cosmetics and fragrance revenues from 2001 to 2008, Moodford claimed Campbell has now made millions of dollars from the products , sold by affiliates of Procter & Gamble , of which they haven’t received a penny. The law suit suggests Naomi broke the contract without any justification and began selling the goods under a different licensing agreement, according to WWD. “We think what happened is she just decided to keep all the money for herself and not share it anymore, said Daniel Bright, an attorney representing Moodform. “There was nothing precipitating it. No word from Campbell’s representatives yet, either. Oh Naomi, just as you do good, something bad always has to follow.

Online auction site eBay has been ordered to pay damages to LVMH Moët Hennessey Louis Vuitton for allowing fakes of the French fashion label’s fragrances to be sold on their site. eBay has been told it has to pay €80,000 (that’s around £72,000) for allowing key word searches for Christian Dior, Kenzo, Givenchy and Guerlain perfumes on its website without permission. Poor eBay, it’s not the first time it has had to pay damages to LVMH. In June this year, the auction site had to pay €38 million in compensation to the group for selling counterfeit LVMH merchandise. According to Vogue.co.uk, a court ruling in July , which was against Tiffany & Co , stated eBay does not have the legal responsibility to prevent the sale of counterfeit goods. Seems like a bit of a tricky one. Naughty things, you’d think eBay would have learned their lesson, wouldn’t you? Bet they won’t be doing any online shopping for a while. [Images]

So, for the past week I’ve been trying out Clinique’s 3 step programme. Because, not all of us can afford a one to one consultation with a dermatologist, Clinique (with the help of dermatologists of course) has developed a skin care programme tailored to each individual skin type. All products are fragrance free but they vary in strength depending on your skin. To kick things off, you have to fill in a questionnaire which asks a series of questions to determine your skin type. Once you’re done, Clinique suggests the best products from the range for you. I have very dry and sensitive skin so I was diagnosed as Type 1. So, my three step programme consists of: Liquid facial soap extra-mild – This doesn’t feel like a facial wash at all, instead it feels more like a moisturizer. It acts like a cleanser and facial wash combined. I was a bit worried that it wouldn’t remove much dirt, but I can confirm that it does. It feels gorgeous and set my skin up nicely for the second step.
