Beyoncé rocks Kurt Geiger back candy like a pro!

Kanye West may have been the birthday boy, and topics of conversation probably revolved around his very pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian and her very looming due date, but it was Beyonce who commanded all the sartorial attention. This doesn’t really surprise us though; does it surprise you? Mrs Carter rocked up to Yeezy’s birthday party in New York showing off her ridiculously toned tummy in an eye-catching striped Topshop outfit, but we were more excited by what was at the back. And no, we don’t mean her booty! Queen Bea was modelling, nay – rocking, the black croc Kurt Geiger London Dash rucksack. We’ve been a bit unsure about the whole backpack trend we won’t lie, after all the back-to-school look doesn’t work for everyone, but B has definitely swayed our vote; so much so that we now want one for ourselves! And at only £180, we just might make this back candy dream a reality! [Image 1] [Image 2 c/o Splash]

Are Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora designing a clothing line?

The big question on everyone’s lips this morning is: Are BFFs Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora designing a clothing line together? If we are to believe The Sun (meh), then yes they are – and that is our cue to start celebrating! “Rita and Cara have been talking about the idea for weeks now,” a source allegedly told the red top. “Cara has great fashion industry contacts and Rita loves her clothes and keeps up with trends. “They think a line could compete with those released by Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss. Rita’s become increasingly matey with Chloe Green and has mentioned the idea to her in the hope that she might help get it to her dad, Topshop boss Philip.” We definitely think befriending Chloe Green is a step in the right direction. We’d love to see a Rita x Cara clothing line. Expect snap back caps, wedge trainers, printed trousers, loud logo tees, and more! Hopefully a more official source will step in to confirm or deny these rumours. Fingers crossed it’s the former! [Grazia]

Film vs. Fashion: Three looks from iconic 80’s movies we still want to wear

Iconic screen images of famed characters in memorable garb have always stayed with us, from Sharon Stone’s panty-less antics in Basic Instinct (we were digging the all white, not the missing underwear) to Sandy’s legendary retro bombshell look in Grease, courtesy of that black spray-on ensemble with red heels. It is these definitive moments in cinema that convey the feelings and attitude towards fashion during a certain era, and allow the nostalgia addicts amongst us to relive it all with constant weekend reruns of classic films – much to the dismay of our partners. Our current obsession with film fashion has transported us back to the 80s this week, so we’ve picked out three iconic looks from legendary movies that have stayed with us, some 25 years later! Although we’re giving the perm, bad tan and fluoro lycra a miss, check out the 80s Hollywood divas taking over our wardrobe below, and how we’re recreating their looks. Melanie Griffith as Tess McGill in Working Girl We often associate the 80s with big shoulder pad, and even bigger barnets, so who better to epitomise this than Melanie Griffith in Working Girl. Although she quielty played the underdog, we love how subtly she introduced feminine boardroom chic into our hearts, and we still can’t get enough! Tuxedo and matching trouser, available at Matches Fashion. Michelle Pfeiffer as Elvira Hancock in Scarface Her sheer beauty leaves us breathless every time we watch her as Montana’s troubled missus in Scarface, but it was those barely-there, subtly sexy negligee gowns and show-stopping jewels, not to mention the razor sharp cheekbones and flicked under long bob that had us drooling! Michelle Pfeiffer was the vision of 80s jet-setting opulence in this film. Dress available at My Theresa, earrings available at Asos. Jennifer Beals as Alex Owens […]

The Top 10 Summer Sandals Edit

Slipping into summer sandals marks the beginning of taking pedicured (baby) steps into the sunnier climes – or so we like to hope! And just like we’ve shed the knits, winter coats and layer upon layer of casual t-shirts, it’s high time we did the same in the shoe department. Summer sandals took several guises on the spring/summer 2013 catwalks; from mid-heels to super-embellished, metallics to lovely lace-ups, and we couldn’t be more excited to start the somewhat ritualistic pairing of shoes and summer outfits! It all depends on the look and comfort level you’re going for. Often, summer sandals are associated with gladiator-like, flat styles, but don’t limit yourself to heel-less options. Say it in stripes! Channel your inner sailor with our top picks

Does the onset of summer bring out your inner sailor? Well, we’re not expecting you to take to the controls at the next boat party you attend, but letting your sartorial side dip into this fun trend is always refreshing. But how does one go about a sailor trend-on-trial, without resorting to embarrassing, Popeye-inspired androgynous ensembles? The answer is stripes; Coco Chanel’s famed fashion delivery, spring/summer 2013’s biggest trend story, and one of the easiest ways to unleash the sailor(ess) within, without donning a cheesy sailor hat and anything doused in anchor prints! Literal references are best kept for fancy dress parties, but if you want to add a touch of everyday sailor-style to your wardrobe then inspired separates are your best bet. Think more Audrey Hepburn-esque maritime maven, than sea sickeningly sailor. Want to take the fashion forward route? Slip into the best pair of striped jeans you can find. Or maybe your approach to trend testing is a little more subtle, in which case a simple Breton stripe top or stripe-printed heel may do the job. Shop our top striped picks below, and don’t forget to check out our style tip on the best way to make stripes work for you. Breton stripe top, £36, Jigsaw Lulu Guinness Verity striped shoulder bag, £265, Selfridges Acne Liz stripe-print trouser, £230, Matches Kimberley monochrome striped fabric tie wedge, £45, Stylistpick Mono stripe panel denim dress, £40, Topshop Stripe ponti skater skirt, £28, Miss Selfridge Marc Jacobs striped raffia espadrilles, £225, My Theresa Style tip: If you’re not too keen on a stripe-out, then opt for a neutral ensemble, punctuated with one statement striped item. Denim Brigade: 7 jeans you thought you’d never buy (but will anyway)

Jeans are undeniably the linchpin of any discerning style maven’s wardrobe. Although available in a plethora of fits, prints and colours, they can sometimes be neglected when it comes to the more experimental side of fashion. So instead of sticking to the boring side of blue and suffering with denim blues (pardon the pun), embracing the eye-pleasing variations that are available to us may be the next step in taking this staple item outside of its (and our) comfort zone. Think fizzy shades, eye-catching embroidery and unexpected prints to elevate this perennial piece to its newfound glory, and pair with anything from a structured jacket to a simple tee or pullover for that comfortable-casual feeling with a fresh slant. From patchwork pants to the new neon boyfriend jean and printed skinnies to the chic cropped flare, we’ve selected our top seven denim hits that’ll leave you on a sartorial high. Now that’s a stroke of jean-ius! The Boyfriend Neon: The easiest way to insert a shot of colour into an off-duty look.  The Skinny Plaid: A hot trend for spring/summer 2013, this plaid pair will have you dipping into the 90s well beyond this season.  The Cropped Flare: Paired with kitten heels and a silk blouse, this pair is your short cut to unadulterated Parisian glamour. The Tencel Palazzo: Is it a palazzo pant, or is it a flared pair? It’s both, and it’s the perfect 2-for-1 style hit for spring! The Embroidered Skinny: Bring an artisanal quality to your denim this season with a splash of intricate embroidery.  The Patchwork Jean: A refreshed take on the relaxed boyfriend fit; we promise you’ll stay in this pair all summer.  The Printed Skinny:  A dash of pretty print is the fool-proof way to pep up a simple outfit, and update a wardrobe classic.

7 neon pieces worth being noticed in

Splashed and splices of neon were one of the biggest colour stories to come out of spring/summer 2013. From Erdem’s angelic lace dresses, updated with shots of zingy floral embroidery in neon orange and pink to Simone Rocha’s blinding neon daisies and delectably charged green and blue at Rag & Bone; it was the certified colourway of the new season, and one we’re not shying away from. Although fashion has a habit of repeating embarrassing mistakes from a bygone era, albeit in a slightly more modern, tasteful way, our top neon picks to be noticed don’t include any 80s disco references, or stomach-turning Day-Glo lycra workout gear. From sweeping dresses to look-at-me accessories and shoes so beautifully bright, you’ll need to get out the Ray Bans (in a good way, of course), shop our top seven neon picks below. Midweek Moodboard: Denim

You don’t need us to tell you that denim never really goes out of fashion – after all, there’s never a good time to throw our your favourite, trusty pair of jeans, is there? This morning however we’re taking our love of denim to a whole new level; we don’t mean Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake matching double denim level though (we don’t ever want to relive that 2001 sartorial nightmare, no matter how cute they were as a young couple) but we are extending our love of the fabric. If you love your jeans too much to kiss them goodbye, why don’t you try them in a different colour instead of the conventional blue? We found a great peach pair by J Brand – not only is the colour perfect for the spring/summer season, but it now has the royal seal of approval now that Kate Middleton has been spotted out in the shade. Braver fashionistas are encouraged to try a denim dress or denim hotpants on for size – the sun is out, why not?! Skinny jeans, £115, Replay available at USC Peach skinny jeans, £199, J Brand available at Harrods Denim jacket, £95, The Ragged Priest available at Topshop Sleeveless skater dress, £45, available at Oasis Tie front cropped blouse, £18, available at Fashion Union Studded denim shorts, £22.99, available at New Look Blue cut-off shorts, £159, Frame Denim available at Matches

Kate Middleton pretty in peach Tara Jarmon for Children’s Hospice Week

The sun was beaming in Hampshire yesterday, and so was Kate Middleton! The Duchess of Cambridge looked radiant and had that pregnancy glow that you hear so much about as she attended an event in Winchester for Children’s Hospice Week. (She made a video appeal for the cause a few days earlier… click here to refresh your memories.) Kate donned a very season-appropriate peach coat from Tara Jarmon (it retails for £380 should you be tempted to channel the Duchess) for the outing, and teamed it with a lighter peach dress and nude accessories. She wore her hair in slightly more tousled waves than we’re used to seeing, and we’re absolutely loving it. It’s Princess-meets-beach-babe, and as usual, we can’t fault it!

10 summer shorts under £30 to snap up now!

Much like a hefty coat is a winter staple to block out the Siberian chills we tend to experience in Blighty, shorts are an equally important summer staple. Tan-exposing and showing off to perfection all the hard work you’ve put in at the gym getting those uber-toned thighs, shorts in all guises are the go-to piece to pair with a louche tee and sneakers, or a billowing silk blouse and sandals. But what makes this super-versatile wardrobe addition even better, is when you can score a pair for under a not-so-princely £30! Frayed edges, acid washes and pretty embellishments have made our round up of top 10 picks under £30, so let us present to you the shorts you need to be shopping now in preparation for when the sun finally decides to come out of hibernation! £20, Monki: These shorts are called ‘dip-to-die-for’ for very good reason. Perfect for dipping into a trend (pun intended) inexpensively. £22, Asos: We love the festival vibe the beaded fringe detail bring to these shorts. £12.99, TK Maxx: Printed denim is a must-have, and if the print leaves us starry-eyed, were not complaining! £23, Next: You’re guaranteed to go on a style safari in these zebra print shorts. £28, Topshop: Culottes in eyeball-popping pink: a natural win! £28, Dorothy Perkins:  The perfectly embellished option for an evening look, sipping cocktails by the beach. *Sigh* £28, Miss Selfridge: The biggest spring/summer 2013 trend on a budget? Yes please! £25, Boohoo: Sequinned to perfection, we’re calling these our summer disco pants. £25, River Island: The classic summer short, with obligatory frayed hem and light acid wash. £29.99, H&M: The mirror embroidery details gives this pair an ethno-beach babe vibe. Pearl and Daisy Lowe lend support to Fashion Target Breast Cancer

Ralph Lauren started the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer initiative back in 1994, and it just seems to get bigger and better each and every year. This year Marks and Spencer, River Island, Warehouse, Topshop, Coast, Laura Ashley, my-wardrobe.com and Debenhams have all designed unique pieces for the new Fashion Targets Breast Cancer collection, and you can check them out right here. Prices range from £2 to £275 and all pieces carry a minimum 30% donation, so you really will be helping people while looking stylish at the same time. Two birds! Pearl and Daisy Lowe have signed on to front this year’s campaign, and were shot by Simon Emmett in the beautiful pictures. “Fashion Targets Breast Cancer is a legendary campaign and this year’s theme of uniting mothers and daughters really brought it home for me,” Pearl Lowe said. “We must raise money for breast cancer research now to make a difference for our daughters in the future.” “The Fashion Targets Breast Cancer collection this year has something for everyone and I’m really hoping to see everyone buying something from their favourite high street retailers,” Daisy Lowe added. “Unite with us and Wear Your Support.” Indeed, wearing your support is the crucial message of the campaign; if you want to support the wonderful cause, head to the store and make a purchase from the stylish collection today. Every penny counts! Sharon and Kelly Osbourne are another celebrity mother and daughter duo who have lent their support to the cause; don’t they look adorable together in the picture above? Steep vs. Cheap: The Check Dress

Check and plaid prints pretty much took over our lives when they made their eye-opening debut for spring/summer 2013. Our favourite looks came courtesy of Dries Van Noten, where dreamy, veiled layers intermixed in a super-wearable way, whilst over at 3.1 Phillip Lim we enjoyed checks and plaid artfully paired with detailed florals. So, how to buy into the trend, you ask? Well, there’s the expensive way, or the pocket pleasing way (you know which one we’re going with), and we’re about to reveal the secret of both! First up, making our tongues wag and our pockets empty is the deluxe way to try this trend. The Danica Plaid dress by Dries Van Noten is a fashion lover’s dream come true, with its grunge-meets-summer-cool appeal. The sheer chiffon overlay and belt detail is heart melting, but before you cave in, the price is worth considering: at a budget restraining £549, you’ll be seriously cutting into that summer style fund. But when there’s a Topshop nearby, there’s a way, and we’ve found it! Coming in at £130 – a snip of the whopper price tag above – we love the Sheer Back Check Dress from Topshop Boutique. The delicate organza silk back detail is a winner and we can’t wait to pair this number with pretty metallic heels when the sun finally decides to make an appearance! Will you be splurging or spending? Steep: Dries Van Noten Danica plaid dress with chiffon overlay, £549, available at My Theresa Cheap: Sheer back midi check dress, £130, available from Topshop Unique

If you’re feeling a little lazy on the style side when it comes to the weekend, a wow factor jacket will ensure you don’t slump on the fashion front. With spring here and summer knocking (well we’d like to think so!), all we can think about is packing away our hefty, blanket-like coats to make way for some light and pretty wearing. A perfect spring jacket is the reason fashionistas look forward to warmer climes (along with sunbathing, cocktails by the pools and envy-inducing swimwear), because, in a place like Blighty, it’s your saviour for those chilly nights you don’t want to leave the party early for fear of getting ill! Worn with a skirt and heels, or atop your favourite Marant-esque skinny cropped jeans and basic tee ensemble, our pick of seven laid-back spring jackets will ensure you’re the one leading the weekend chic pack. From printed bomber jackets to eye-popping pink crop shapes and desirable denim biker jackets, take your pick from our favourites and make a weekend a super-stylish one. 1. Steep vs. Cheap: Metallic slip-ons

Metallic footwear reigned supreme on the SS’13 runways (yes, thank you Burberry), and we couldn’t think of a better way to slip our feet into spring, than in a pretty pair of metallic heels. We say heels, but – given the unpredictable weather not permitting sandals – chose to be a little more sensible with our choice, and instead opted for shoes. Metallics don’t necessarily need to spell out the futurism trend, sartorially, and instead can be a way of accenting a dark or off-duty outfit for a touch of day glam. First up picking at our (already emptied out) pockets are the Daga heels from Marc by Marc Jacobs. The perfect high-end hit to make a statement in; we love the kooky bauble detail, matte metallic finish and comfortable block heel. If you’re looking to inject a little fun into office footwear, the Daga heels are perfect, and guaranteed to score you extra brownie points from the boss! But sitting pretty at £352, we think a pay rise ‘request’ may be in order. But, if your boss isn’t feeling too generous, fear not! We’ve tracked down the perfect high street metallic option to bring you up to date with the fash pack, without eating into your Pinkberry budget. Head to Topshop and snap up the Jansky slip-ons for a fraction of the price at £65, and work some serious metallic magic on your feet. Are you going steep or cheap? Steep: Marc by Marc Jacobs silver bauble Daga heels, £352, available at My Wardrobe Cheap: Jansky mid-heel slip-ons, £65, available at Topshop

The 26th Annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards: The best dressed!

Admit it, there’s a little Awards Season hole in your heart, isn’t there? Don’t be shy, we feel the same way, but luckily the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards have stepped in to save the day and fill the void. The Kids Choice red carpet is probably one of the most laid back, fun events that the movie, TV and music stars of Hollywood get to enjoy, and this is no doubt reflected in their sartorial choices. Pins were out in force, as the stars put on their shortest mini dresses and jumpsuits for the occasion. Kristen Stewart looked stunning in a blue Osman jumpsuit (she even managed a smile while posing for pics, so we’re guessing she knew how hot she looked!) while Selena Gomez made Oscar de la Renta casually cool by teaming his intricate top with some off-duty white shorts. Paris Fashion Week AW13 highlights from Balenciaga, Balmain, Lanvin, H&M and more

Another day in Paris and another host of top designers debuting their autumn/winter 2013 collections on the French catwalks. There have been quite a few first these past 24 hours too, in the form of H&M’s first runway show in eight years, as well as Alexander Wang’s highly anticipated debut collection for Balenciaga. Mr Wang proved that he was indeed the right man for the coveted job, juxtaposing and balancing the creations more commonly found in his eponymous label with those of Balenciaga quite flawlessly. The high street has been more prominent this Fashion Month than ever before (Rihanna for River Island, Whistles, Topshop Unique to name just a few) and we’re hoping that H&M will see how successful the show has been and continue to present its collections in Paris. We’d prefer London, but we won’t be too fussy as we’re just glad it’s getting a Fashion Month outing at all! There was plenty of sparkle, as well as some big shoulders, bold lines, vivid colours and exaggerated structured  silhouettes at Balmain – one of our PFW highlights every season – while Mugler opted for a much softer and subtler approach to drama than usual. As always, Alber Elbaz presented a chic and clean collection for Lanvin, while Gareth Pugh took the term “haunting” to new depths. Take a look at the highlights below: H&M Balmain  Mugler Lanvin Gareth Pugh

5 of the best white t-shirts

The linchpin of a well-built wardrobe, the humble white t-shirt is exploding with versatility. But when it comes to whittling down the numerous styles available, finding the perfect white t-shirt is just as much an art as finding the perfect pair of jeans: the fabric; the way it sits on your body; the fit, and, most importantly, does your choice of tee put across the style statement you’re trying to make? Steep vs. Cheap: Heeled cut-out ankle boots

Cut-out boots are having quite a moment. From Balenciaga’s chunky but pricey ones to varied high street replicas; worn without socks or with Fearne Cotton-style ankle grazing ones, they’re fast replacing the wedge sneaker – especially in the comfort stakes. So, when we spotted none other than Rita Ora, the Queen Bee of alternative fashion mash-ups, sporting a lust-worthy cut-out boot front row at the Chanel Couture show in Paris last month, their ‘Hot Right Now’ status was cemented. But Rita’s Alexander Wang ‘Jill’ boots matched her available fashion budget too, cashing in at a pricey £745. Urban to perfection, we love the buckle and lace-up detail, along with the on-trend white platform. But for those of us not blessed with Jay-Z’s Midas touch, a budget version is available! Head over to high street haven Topshop, where you can pick up a similar version for a pocket-pleasing £85. So, will it be a spend or splurge kinda shoe situ for you? Steep: Alexander Wang Jill lace-up leather ankle boots, £745, available at Selfridges Cheap: Aftershock cut-out lace-up boots, £85, available at Topshop

London Fashion Week AW13: Highlights from Day 3

With Fashion Month speeding on, it was onto day three of the stylish festivities. Packed with major shows, including Temperley London, Mulberry and Jonathan Saunders, the fash pack were out in full force to absorb and delight in everything next season has to offer. Alongside spotting the fashions for next season, our front row radar was in overdrive, too! Alexa Chung looked resplendent sat front row at Mulberry (natch), joined by frow partner Lana Del Rey; Olivia Palermo at Temperley sporting a gorgeous pink clutch; Pixie Geldof looked print-tastic at Jonathan Saunders and, of course, the obligatory Wintour spot at Matthew Williamson left us in a state of awe-induced hyper ventilation (it happens every time)! So, here are all the highlights from day three of London Fashion Week: Mulberry In fashion time, it was relatively decent start to the day with an 11am Mulberry show at Claridges, and we have to say, we needed the lie in! Woodland wonderland-meets the Nineties was big at Mulberry, as skater skirts over cropped trousers made an appearance, along with oversized tweed plaids on statement en outerwear in a whimsical woodland setting, complete with Mulberry fruits and a jaw-dopping butterfly and wild flower installation that adorned the entrance to Claridges. Dark hues of deep emerald, wine tones and black reigned supreme, and Mulberry;s signature botanical-inspired prints were splashed across form-fitting dresses. Outerwear was the highlight for us; we could happily take home every coat we saw! Temperley London Temperley London is a Fashion Month favourite for us, and we couldn’t quite contain our excitement when we were informed that Hitchcock beauty Tippi Hedren was the source of inspiration. In a bid to move away from being associated solely with occasion wear, plenty of flirty cocktail dresses made an appearance, with an emphasis on a […]

Channel next seasons trends as soon as they hit the catwalk!

[noskim] Today marks the start of London Fashion Week (LFW), where designers and fashionistas will descend into London for the next 4 days to see the looks and trends that contemporary designer brands have in store for Autumn/Winter 2013. LFW is the second in the series of ‘Big Four’ fashion weeks, which closely follows New York Fashion Week (NYFW) and is a prelude to the Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks. This year some of the biggest names in UK fashion will be showcasing their work, including Mulberry, Vivienne Westwood, Burberry and Christopher Kane; there will also be some of the heavy hitters from across the pond showcasing their work, such as Tom Ford and L’Wren Scott. The big four fashion shows also offer an opportunity to catch a glimpse to see what the big name celebrities will be sporting in the upcoming months; you are bound to see an array of well-heeled celebrities, buyers, and fashion journalists taking their place on the front rows as they admire the Autumn/Winter 13 showcases direct from the showroom. Based on what we saw at NYFW, we can expect a plethora of stripes, embellishment, and lace incorporated into the latest AW13 collections. However, you needn’t be one of the well-heeled celebrities in order to keep abreast of what is happening at the LFW shows; more and more fashion labels are beginning to make their runway shows much more accessible to consumers. Many big name fashion labels have started to stream or digitally broadcast their shows online, which allows consumers to keep up with fashion-related developments. Burberry have gone one step further by allowing particularly enthusiastic customers to purchase garments as soon as they have been shown on the catwalk. Similarly, this year, UK fashion giant Topshop have teamed up with Google + to broadcast […]

Spring into the new season!

It maybe difficult to believe spring is here, given the constant climatic whitewash and non-stop downpour, but the fashion pack are trooping on, and despite London Fashion Week bringing autumn/winter wares to us already, we’re still delighting in the what the sunnier side of our wardrobe has to offer. Although the spring 2013 shows may seem like an age ago, we’re recapping on five of the biggest trends to roll off the runway so that your new season wardrobe is suitably edited for the (hopefully) warmer temperatures ahead:   Monochrome The biggest story to come out of spring/summer 2013; monochrome was HUGE. Yes. Marc Jacobs led the trend obsession by introducing a playful, monochrome checker board block design into the collection at Louis Vuitton, and playing with stripes for his namesake designs. Jil Sander and Céline brought the yin and yang of the colour spectrum together in a beautifully minimal fashion, but it was the vertical stripe short suit at Michael Kors that stole our summer-hungry hearts! Angelic whites Not a new season trend delight; a whitewash was evident for spring 2013, but not in the clinical sense: think airy and second skin, accented with hints of interesting texture detail. Major champions of the trend included Topshop Unique, Sass & Bide, Richard Nicoll and Rochas – summer appropriate, and a well-deserved breather from the previous season’s pattern and heavy colour galore! See-through style Sheer fabrics reigned supreme on the spring runway, and not just for their sexy and sunshine-appropriate qualities. Layered looks made the sheer trend more wearable, whilst prints at Roberto Cavalli added an almost concealing quality. Sheer outerwear in the form of slips and long-line jackets made an appearance at Prabal Gurung and Reed Krakoff, making it a summer staple rather than daring attempt to dress sexy. Suits Another one to covet […]

Midweek Moodboard: Valentine’s Inspiration

Just in case anyone forgot it’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow (gentlemen, we’re looking at you – tut tut), this week’s moodboard should hopefully help you remember. Whether you want to shop for something your lady, (again – boys, pay attention), want to snap something up for yourself (girls, that’s you) or just want to boycott the Hallmark holiday altogether, there should be something in our little shopping edit to cater to your tastes. If anything though, St Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to dress up in the seductive shade of red (look to Rihanna for proof of how good the colour can be), or at the very least coat your lips in a sexy scarlet colour in the hope of a cheeky kiss from the office hottie. Steep vs Cheap: Push lock tote

We know the feeling of wanting in on a lust-worthy handbag with a not-so-modest price tag (but still worth the regular Starbucks sacrifice), only to discover its hanging off the arm of every street style warrior going! Well, the famed 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli bag firmly fell into this category of desirable leather goods when its delicious boxy existence came to the fashion world’s knowledge in a plethora of wardrobe-flattering colours: military green, black, and navy were our top favourites. But as with all practical-yet-painfully-stylish bags, there is either an unjustifiable price tag to contend with, or the possibility that every fashion personality and their Pomeranian or pug (‘dog’ just doesn’t cut it any more  will have said bag swinging sweetly from their arm (or sitting snugly inside it, in the canine’s case). However, its sheer popularity won’t put us off celebrating the Pashli’s glorious existence, and in a gorgeous navy blue shade, accented perfectly by Lim’s signature gold hardware and expandable zipped sides, the £860 fee for this beauty seems rather, well, small. Well, for those of you blessed enough to have that sum just casually sitting in your account, waiting desperately to be spent. But if a caviar fashion budget is out of the question then look to Topshop for the Pashli on a pauper’s budget. For a not-so-eye watering £45, snap up this navy Winged Push Lock tote bag which reminds us of the Pashli, but doesn’t spell bankruptcy. Steep: 3.1 Phillip Lim ‘Pashli’ Leather Satchel Bag, £810, available at Farfetch Cheap: Winged Push Lock tote bag, £45, available at Topshop
