A sexy pump is a wardrobe staple in every discerning shoe addicts collection, and when it comes to working magic on your feet no one does it better than go-to sexy shoe brand, Casadei. Office-appropriate black; a burst of colour in striking cobalt and suede or a classic, mid-heel patent version paying homage to The Moss, whatever your design inclinations when it comes to shopping for the perfect pump, we’re sure the Jungle Pop Blade pump will throw all style inhibitions out of the window. It’s all about serious bling for your feet! Swarovski-encrusted and with a jaw-dropping 5.3 inch heel, becoming gob smacked is an understatement when you lay your peepers on this pair. The iconic ‘Blade’ pump has been revamped with hand stitched crystals and an animalier pattern wash in an eye-catching fuschia, emerald and black colour concoction. Here are our three reasons for and against putting your name to a pair of these (ridiculously beautiful) heels: Yay Collectors’ item: part of the brand’s Hero Collection, these precious jewel heels are the closest you’ll get to wearing diamonds on your feet! The kind of shoe you’ll hand down to your daughter (if you don’t wear them to within an inch of their life, that is). Flattering colour way: The tri-colour palette makes the Jungle Pop Blade pump all the more fun to pair with a simple tee and boyfriend jeans for a casual-meets-luxe look, or as a clashing accompaniment to a bright, evening ensemble for full on glamour, Statement heel personified: need we say more? Nay Sky high price: almost as high as its heel, the price tag (a gulp inducing £1,650) will have you in rent arrears and a whole luxury handbag behind your planned bag collection strategy. Not good. Sky high, ankle-cracking heel height: this ‘nay’ is […]

Read MoreHigh Street: 1 Rita Ora: 0
This week’s been a bit of a stirrer on Planet Fashion, as we brace ourselves for Fashion Month and all the news that unfolds with it. Firstly, the urbanisation of what is supposed to be a copious dose of unadulterated luxury (thanks, Rita!) has led to many a sleepless night, and secondly, the arrival of the High Street on the High fashion runway. They say every writer should be as cynical as is humanly possible in order to really raise his or her voice against the unjust practices of the rapidly rotating (fashion) planet, but I don’t want to be the one who applies the dampener, so to speak. Well, not entirely. Let’s begin with Rita Ora’s recent outing in Le Paree for Couture Fashion Week. We know Jay-Z’s protégée brings her A game in the form of an eclectic dress sense, and equally vivid hair to match, but it was the shocking ‘devaluation’ of an uber-luxe item, namely the Hermès Birkin bag that left me in a destructive-to-luxury daze. Stepping out in moon boot-equivalent sneakers, multi-patch Adidas trousers and neon knit is bad enough, but throwing one of the most revered handbags into the mix doesn’t sit well with me. Although Rita’s affinity for carrying a Birkin with almost every ensemble she appears in is pretty evident, this isn’t the catwalk-ready definition of sport-luxe I was thinking of. But on an ever so slightly more sartorially positive note, Rita brought the Boy (see what I did there) to the front row at the Chanel Couture show in Paris, teaming Wang boots with a floaty dress, topped off with a red leather jacket. Not a huge fan of this (again) try-hard ensemble (the red lips were the only necessity), but then again, isn’t that the only idea that underscores most of […]

Read MoreBargain hunting at Westfield Stratford
While some people might have blown their Christmas money in the Boxing Day sales, others (yours truly included) have waited rather patiently for their chance to snap up a bargain. I worried that waiting for the new year to hit might be a bit late to get a good deal in the shops as everything would be sold out, but I was pleasantly surprised with what I found at Westfield Stratford. I went to the huge shopping centre with a £50 gift card and a mission… a mission to nab a bargain and get some killer wardrobe additions! I was quite sensible and did some window shopping first, and although I found some great bargains in Topshop, Forever 21 and Zara, I actually splashed all my cash in River Island. I’ve been after some statement add-on pieces for a while now, and found the grey lace blazer I had been lusting after as soon as I walked in the shop – it was in my size and was the last one left… practically sitting there waiting for me. £20 reduced from £35 – good start! I was also on a personal mission to find something attention-grabbing for London Fashion Week, and saw a glistening metllic blazer casually strewn across the shop floor. I tried it on, fell in love and the rest is history – I am a magpie at heart! The blazer only set me back £30 – I have no idea how much it actually cost as it had no tag, but I reckon it’s quite the bargain by River Island standards, especially considering how intricate and gorgeous it is.(Ps: please excuse the naff posing and terrible iPhone pics!) The best thing about my bargain-hunting mission was that I didn’t even have to fumble around for the right […]

No this isn’t the after-hours edition… the American Music Awards have just got us totally crushing on all things nude right now! We don’t need to tell you the power of a good nude shoe (Kate Middleton – that’s all we need to say) but that’s not where our love for the colour (or lack thereof) ends. As it’s Christmas, rocking up to a glam event in a nude top or dress that’s adorned with sparkles and embellishment would make you stand out in all the right ways, as would donning a plain nude dress or top-and-trouser-combo and accessorising to your heart’s content with brighter accessories. The possibilities are virtually endless when it comes to the nude trend which is why we are all over it this festive season. We all know that smug feeling when you land something that looks deceptively expensive, but in reality, it isn’t! Our roundup of lust-worthy accessories are a case in point, as they all have the ‘gilt-edged’ factor in common, minus the Hèrmes-esque price tag. The benefits of savvy spending are endless, so when you spot a high end style projecting piece snap it up quicker than Jay-Z signs new talent, because, let’s face it, a top-to-toe designer look is neither original nor financially beneficial! We especially love the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012 inspired alice band with ornate, baroque detailing, and if you quiver at the thought of spending near £300 on a Michael Kors watch (a.k.a The Blogger’s Watch), or worse still, splurging on a Rolex, and are partial to misplacing valuable possessions by desirable designers, then River Island have the perfect pocket-friendly, no-sweat-if-you-lose-it alternative. If minaudières (posh for small hard box) are your thing but Jason Wu’s sky high prices cause you to hyperventilate, then Topshop’s version will put a smile on your face, while a knuckleduster at Stylistpick is just as attention-grabbing as the Alexander McQueen original, and with a prettier price tag, too! OK, we’ll let you get on with snapping up the accessories that’ll make you the envy of your fashion pack, not to mention that smug savvy spender smile you’ll be sporting. Read MoreKeep calm and wear flats…
It’s official. Flats are the new black. We thought a couple of pigs would have to fly before Victoria would be seen in a pair of flats but lo and behold the Queen of stilettos ditched her killer heels for a pair of brogues….and we have to admit she pulled it off extremely well. She’s not the only one….more and more of the celebs we know and love for their sky-high Louboutins are now sky-falling (pun intended) to the ground gracefully and opting for “comfort” over “glamour”. So why the change? We’re not quite sure but we certainly approve! Who says Beauty doesn’t always have to equal pain you know…. Now on to the important stuff. Where to buy a great pair of flats? Right now we’re loving the “tab shoe”. A great addition to your shoe collection for the new season. These mustard beauties by Stylistpick caught our eye along with the snake version too. Now we can’t say we’re the biggest fan of brogues to be honest but we are partial to a loafer or two especially these leather loafers by J.W. Anderson for Topshop.
Read More3 ways to dress up your beloved jeans for the ultimate evening look!
Jeans are the ultimate wardrobe staple, worn with almost everything we own. Yet we still choose to exclude them when planning a party outfit, opting instead for tailored trousers or skirts and dresses. These usual culprits for evening wear can get a little boring, and this is why your wardrobe needs a little style refresher with an injection of good old denim! Styling jeans for an evening look isn’t as difficult or casual as you may think. Just like a biker can add a tough luxe feel to summer style, boots can take most of your summer wardrobe into autumn and a printed suit can be ‘da bomb’ (pardon the laidback lingo) outside of the boardroom; when worn in the right way, jeans will fast become the foundation for your after hours style. The key to getting it right is to make a statement accessory the focal point of your look, and build the rest of your look around it. Printed jeans add interest and are a major trend to covet right now. To help make taking the denim plunge at your next party a little easier, we’ve styled a must have pair of jeans in 3 ways to give you varied and super-glam evening looks. Take your pick and party away! Look 1 Current/Elliott The Ankle skinny jeans – black brocade (shown throughout), £195, available at Donna Ida; Tibi Leather-collared silk-crepe shirt, £405, available at Net-A-Porter; Avant all-over embellished boots, £120, available at Topshop. Ah, another blossoming bump soon to be seen on a pretty model! Last week Lara Stone and husband David Walliams announced they were expecting their first child, and all the ahh-ing and oo-hing at such fab news aside, being the fashion obsessives we are, we started to dream up what Lara’s maternity wardrobe would look like. (Typical, we know.) Used to stunning runway pieces, the busty model’s off-duty looks are quite a contrast. Often papped out for dinner with her hubby, Lara seems to prefer thigh-skimming dresses (remember that Givenchy wedding dress, anyone?) and A LOT of black (as do most models). Being the face of Calvin Klein, Lara is often photographed wearing dresses by the fashion house and prefers a mainly muted colour palette, save for that brilliant orange Hermès Birkin she’s often toting and the occasional red (killer) pout. Models off-duty, even when carrying a bump, look achingly chic and we’re sure Mrs. Walliams is going to be no different. So ahead of the expansion of her cute lil’ bump, here’s a roundup of chic maternity wear (yes, pregnant dressing can be stylish!) we’d love to see the leggy lady in. Evening dresses are a must for Lara’s dinner dates, as is the preffered off-duty uniform of models: skinny jeans and layered tops. When the orange Birkin is having a day off, a bright blazer is the perfect antidote to an all-black ensemble , and a ruched skirt – well, only a model could make the maternity version look so good! 1. Read MoreHow to wear the futurism trend..
Fashion’s gone back to the future. Well, for Autumn/Winter’12 it has, anyway. Sharp shapes, metallic tones and frosty faces (we’re talking makeup, not expressions) were scattered across runways like stars in the Milky Way, and if the aliens wanted to be seated front row, well, who could blame them? But the futurism trend didn’t take the predictable Nasa-inspired route of astronaut chic. No. Designers, instead, looked to the likes of sexy sci-fi siren Barbarella for inspiration, giving us the end product: a mesmerising, alien-esque beauty with exhibitionist features (bejewelled eyebrows at Chanel, anyone?). The Fall 2012 futurist wouldn’t be out of place working in a high-rise office building, according to Balenciaga’s corporate/ otherworldly offerings, including sculptural padded sweaters, stiff A-line skirts and the biggest high-end hit this season: the satin sweatshirts with Battlestar Galactica-style logos. At Alexander McQueen, sci-fi visors paired with shaggy fur coats had us at hello, whilst Mary Katrantzou’s emphatic 3-D prints and exaggerated cuts gave us galatica-inspired goose bumps. How to translate the trend into wearable form, we hear you ask? Add sci-fi inspired accents to your look, such as a silver metallic collar or belt, or pile on sharp-edged, statement jewellery such as chunky stone bracelets or an ear cuff. Wear a mash up of monochrome with slices of silver, and keep makeup minimal, with just a slick of graphic liner for impact. Check out our top pieces oozing sexy sci-fi appeal above. 1. Read MoreMetallic vs. Monochrome – The trend-off!
Another week, another trend-off! After struggling to decide between ankle and knee-high boots, we’re faced with a new sty-lemma, this time involving metallics and monochrome. Sharing a penchant for both M’s, we love the graphic seriousness of a monochrome ensemble: the ensuing element of Karl Lagerfeld-esque mystery combined beautifully with Wang’s sharp street grit is too much to resist. But specks of shimmering thread weaved into our metallic wares also tug at our heart (and purse) strings. We can’t ignore slip-into-me-now metallic boots, and are we really expected to walk away without snapping up that outfit-completing metallic jacket? It’s a party wear staple and, in darker hues, adds the perfect amount of pep to daywear. So that you can help alleviate the symptoms of a stressful fashion situation, we’ve decided to round up our top metallic and monochrome picks for you to choose from. Which piece is your hero buy? Could a metallic Mulberry Del Rey bag entice you with its roomy shape, or are you in favour of a statement monochrome peplum top? The WGSN Global Fashion Awards took place at London’s swanky Savoy Hotel on Monday night, and Victoria Beckham walked away with one of the biggest prizes – “womenswear designer of the year”. “In just five years Victoria Beckham has gone from creating a handful of grandma dresses to building a truly modern and covetable luxury brand, defying cynics and winning over the critics in the process,” said a judge at the event. “This is her year.” Victoria has already won her critics over by producing clean, gorgeous collections every season and having all of Tinsel Town lusting after her designs, but we agree with the judge – 2012 has definitely been a fantastic year for her! Other big winners of the night included Topshop, who was awarded with the Womenswear Design Team prize, Charlotte Olympia walked away with the Footwear & Accessories designer award, while Kim Jones at Louis Vuitton received the Menswear designer accolade. Congratulations to everyone! [Contact Music]

We can all learn a thing or two about dressing for the winter weather from Kate Moss – no need to sacrifice anything sartorially just because the sun’s gone into hiding. A perfect look to channel if you’re heading out to watch some fireworks later tonight! Our Croydon gal kept out the winter chill by wrapping up warm in a large leopard print coat, while keeping her look feminine and sexy by showcasing her killer legs in some ultra-skinny black jeans. The bright clutch bag is also a great way to cling onto the summer, just in case you aren’t ready to say goodbye to it just yet. Ps: Alexa Chung wore the exact same 1970 jumper by Bella Freud a few months ago, so if that wasn’t enough to prove how stylish it is, having Mossy step out in it too just seals the deal. Remember, remember a fashionable 5th of November. Yup, we’ve reworked a classic rhyme to suit our stylish needs (natch), because the fash pack have a well known tendency to do such things! Apart from the obvious safety rules (come on, they’ve been drilled into you since your first sparkler-waving experience aged 5, so no forgetting them), it’s important to have fun, too! Toffee apples, treacle toffee and Cognac-splashed hot wine aside, you’re wardrobe needs to be bang-tastic, too, and ensure you’re the Bombette of the party. Prioritising when it comes to outdoor events is key and given the current climes, keeping warm is unsurprisingly at the top! Because nothing is more démodé than shivering in your thins when the barometer hits the ground, we’ve rounded up the perfect Bonfire Night wardrobe that’ll keep you stylishly snug. Luxe shearling and suede ear muffs will help keep ear frostbite at bay (we hope it isn’t that cold!) whilst helping to muffle out some of the loud explosions from the firework display, and a trusty, chill-blocking coat is a must. A chunky knit should already have acquired staple status in your wardrobe, and add splash of colour for night with some bright jeans. Low-heeled ankle boots will ensure all that standing around is comfortable, whilst embellished accessories, in particular fingerless gloves (great for the ongoing snacking!), ensure essentials are given a stylish twist! A firecracker outfit for an explosive night (all puns intended); now all that’s left to do is to locate an equally impressive Bonfire party before Monday. 1. Want more fash for your cash? As cringe-inducing as this one-liner may sound, the thought of bagging a designer look for less sure excites the hell out of us. And you, too! Autumn/winter 2012 brought with it many a covetable catwalk look; all blissfully beautiful but painfully pricey. But instead of sitting around racking our brains about how to possibly fund another expensive-looking season, we decided to search high and low to bring you our favourite looks from this season’s runways at a fraction of their price! Prada will always remain the trend trailblazer every fashion season, and this season was no exception. Read MoreDo new season Goth the right way!
Much like the sartorial fairytale we endured last season, autumn/winter’12 brought with it a tale of its own. But there were no candy cotton hues and floral appliqué-dripping pieces in sight, as this season demands a more serious, moody and darkly romanticised palette. Enter the new season Goth, but not as you’d imagined it. Forgo traditional gothic stereotypes and imagine a romanticised take on the dark subculture, as designers the likes of Givenchy and Rick Owens sent sharp black looks down the runway with supernatural details and an eerily ethereal quality about them. Confused about how to channel this new season trend? Ditch all Marilyn Manson references and take your cue from Winona Ryder in Dracula, or maybe imagine Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’s Lisabeth Salander walking down the runway after she develops a soft spot for journo Mikael Blomkvist, having undergone a high end makeover. Fash fanatics will be well informed that leather was the order of the season for autumn/winter’12. A sexed up guise took form for Fall as black leather made an appearance in glossy, patent and belted versions. Designers such as Valentino took the trend up a few notches by offering our leather hungry eyes the pleasure of viewing sleek, all-leather gowns, forcing us to rethink traditional evening wear choices. From the high-sheen, super desirable, oversized black leather jackets seen at Alexander Wang, to the leather-clad romantic Goth witnessed at Givenchy; leather is set to be far from a predictable new season statement maker. But for those fretting about the three figure prices for these high end designer garbs, have no fear! We’ve rounded up three of the best new season high street leather buys to update your wardrobe in a pocket-friendly flash! The leather biker jacket is a perennially cool must-have every style maven should own. But this season we’re not talking about conventional biker, no. Autumn/winter ’12 brought with it a sumptuous collection of shoes, many of which steered clear of the ‘high fashion’ (read: unwearable) label, and quickly became our new season must-haves as we saw them stride along the catwalks back in February. Sexed-up platform Mary Janes; loafers ranging from patent to pretty heavily studded and trusty ankle boots with off kilter detailing all caught our eye and here’s how you should be shopping for them this season. If you’re after a season-appropriate shoedrobe but always run back to ‘safety net’ designs because you can’t bear to splash the cash on one wear ‘It’ designs, check out our three key new season shoe picks! The Ankle Boot Where: Burberry Prorsum, Acne, Mulberry Why: The ankle boot is a trusty winter staple, and for the new season it’s been sexed up with various embellishments. Perfect for pairing with a pencil skirt and soft knit for work or equally stylish worn with leather trousers and a slouchy t-shirt for off-duty cool; we love the tough luxe feel the silver chain detailing brings to these McQ brogued boots. What: McQ Brogued Boot, £425, available at Kurt Geiger The Season-hopping Slipper Where: Emporio Armani, Carven, 3.1 Phillip Lim Why: The slipper isn’t a slippery trend (pun intended), in fact it’s here to stay for good as a wardrobe staple we have all come to love (especially our feet!). Read MoreDesigner sunglasses: Splendid or a sorry waste?
Accessory shopping, I’d like to think, is my forte. Drawn far too easily to a just-landed bag or the latest crop of eye-popping statement jewellery pieces; during a financially destructive trip to Selfridges, I’ll happily make allowances for an unnecessary accessory investment from my rent fund. But there’s a particular accessory category I haven’t quite warmed to, yet; sunglasses, and the hefty price tag that accompanies them. I may sound rather fickle, especially after declaring a soft spot for unnecessary expenditure, but standard looking sunnies that cost the equivalent of one month’s food allowance aren’t worth starving for. It confuses me that people are willing to spend a questionable sum of money on an item so prone to damage or loss, and with sunglasses becoming a permanent fixture in daywear looks, the fashionable population is increasingly treating sunglasses as an investment purchase – but, instead happily snapping up near seven pairs a year! The recent surge in luxe eyewear brands has afforded this previously seasonal accessory category cult status. A lizard-trimmed cat eye version by Linda Farrow Luxe will set you back a palm tingling £345, whilst Finest Seven’s 14 carat white gold-plated aviator sunnies will see you part with a meaty sum of £645. Fashion Editors (most notably La Wintour) have always seen the sunny side (pardon the pun) to recession-inducing eyewear, including the likes of Kanye West and Rihanna, often papped sunglasses-clad, indoors, past midnight; but sadly, we’re not all blessed with a budget of Niagara proportions. That said, it doesn’t mean I’d rule out applying my tried and tested high-low method to sunglasses shopping. Partial to snapping up pocket-friendly, on-trend eyewear at Topshop and Asos, thanks to their extensive collection of cat eye and round frame sunnies, it also works well to purchase a high end version […]
Read MoreHeadgear du jour: The Baseball Cap
Hats off to fashion’s recent revival of headgear, in particular the baseball cap. The humble headpiece hasn’t been this lauded since the (stylistically questionable) 80s, and fashion designers are taking a particular liking to it, as they imagine what we want to adorn our heads with, hidden away in their ateliers. Although our love affair with the baseball cap started on the S/S’12 runways, and Olympics fever that gripped us this summer certainly had a part to play; Autumn/Winter ’12 also offered the cap in copious amounts, and varied versions, sitting atop beautifully constructed outfits other than a baseball jersey and track pants tucked into socks. Catwalk cap approval came in the form of multicolour lattice print caps at Lacoste; raised front baker boy caps with mesh inserts and snapbacks at DSquared2 and fun-injected leather versions in red and black, emblazoned with slogans such as ‘Ride It’ on upturned rims at House of Holland. But it’s not only the big names in fashion that approve. The celeb world’s casual adoption of the cap has elevated its status to new heights; with the likes of Rihanna, Jessie J and Rita Ora preferring to wear caps by street names such as Trapstar, Boy London and Obey with high end looks, adding a street-luxe feel to its previously sporty appeal. And now that fashion has had its way with the baseball cap you can expect it to be available in a multitude of prints, doused in all forms of embellishment and worn with everything from a military trend shift to an oversized tweed coat. To celebrate the comeback of the baseball cap, we’ve picked our top 5 favourite versions to suit every budget. 2 Tone Cap, £15, available at Asos Lanvin Curly Lambskin Cap, £420, available at Matches Leopard Print Baseball Cap, £15, […]

For those of us who cant afford to stock up on Chanel separates (and let’s face it, that is actually most of us – sob!) there are other alternatives out there on the actual and virtual British High Street – hooray! And, as Karl Lagerfeld has shown us season after season, we know it isn’t just about the tweed jacket… no matter how iconic it is! If you want to mix it up a bit, there are other ways to embrace the tweed trend too so the options are virtually endless! Take a look at some of the tweed pieces that we are currently lusting after. Our autumn/winter wardrobes wouldn’t be complete without a piece of tweed or two! It’s safe to say that every single member of The Saturdays knows a thing or two about style. Whether they’re strutting their stuff on the streets of London and Los Angeles, walking a red carpet, going partying or even running errands, they never fail to look great. The girls touched down at LAX airport the other day, and while all five of them impressed us with their travel clothes, it was Frankie’s style that stood out the most. The army trend has never been hotter, and as a result, we are totally lusting after Miss Sandford’s camouflage skinny trousers. We love how she gave her outfit some colour by wearing a bold leopard print Alexander McQueen skull scarf, as well as adding some femininity with her caged heels. Flawless. Want her look? Here’s what you’ll need… Khaki camouflage skinny jeans, £24.99, available at New Look Leopard print pashmina, £425, Alexander McQueen available at Selfridges Caged heeled sandals, £55, River Island available at ASOS Chain detail tank, £22, available at Topshop

As we wait somewhat patiently for Paris Fashion Week to kick off, we can’t help but reminisce about some of our favourite shows of London Fashion Week. Seems like ages ago, doesn’t it? Temperley London was without a shadow of a doubt one of our spring/summer 2013 highlights; the soft, intricate lace detailing in particular was to die for. This is why we’ve decided to seek midweek inspiration from Alice Temperley’s phenomenal show and drool over some lace pieces that are currently up for grabs on the high street. None of this waiting for the new season lark – we want them now! Take a look at some of our fave lace pieces below… any of them tempting you? You can’t go wrong with a bit of Coach when you want to inject a bit of wow-factor into your casual, everyday wardrobe… and that’s exactly what the ever-stylish Olivia Munn did on the streets of New York. Akin to the majority of Tinsel Town, we too have a slight obsession with Coach bags. Big or small, there’s always a place for them in our wardrobes, and Olivia’s Coach ‘Classic Shoulder’ bag is a fine example of the powers of a small, practical and versatile bit of arm candy. Or cross the-body-candy, if you like! Once you get the Coach bag, channeling Olivia is easy as pie… a casual stripe tee (Marc Jacobs’ spring/summer 2013 catwalk show at New York Fashion Week showed us that stripes are the next big thing!) and some ankle boots with a small, chunky heel will complete the look perfectly. Classic leather shoulder purse, $198, available at Coach Stripe jumper, £49, Dash available at Debenhams Animal print sunglasses, £17.99, available at Mango Grey ankle boots, £120, D.Co Copenhagen available at ASOS Supersoft skinny jeans, £38, Moto available at Topshop [Image]

Now that Kanye West has had his way with her wardrobe, it’s usually Kim Kardashian who’s rocking the monochrome trend these days. However, it’s another K who has got us obsessing over black and white clothing this Wednesday, and that K is none other than Kristen Stewart. Who would have thunk it? K-Stew has really come into her own on the red carpet lately, and we think her latest appearance might have been the first time the usually camera shy and awkward actress has looked like she was enjoying the flashing camera lights. If you want to embrace the monochrome trend but don’t want to risk looking like a zebra, then black and white separates are the best way to go about it. If it can work for Kristen Stewart (and the other famous K’s Karl Lagerfeld and Kim Kardashian) then we think it’ll totally work for us too. Here are some hot black and white pieces to snap up right now should you want to get in on the monochrome action: Lace corset top, £22, available at Topshop Cat ring, £8, Tatty Devine available at Selfridges Skull print scarf, £234, Alexander McQueen available at Far Fetch Black platforms, £260, Diesel available at Javari White prom skirt, £10, available at Topshop Monochrome tote bag, £2379, Reed Krakoff available at Far Fetch Contrast lapel jacket, £140, Just Cavalli available at Flannels [Image]

Collars – whether they’ve been attached to stunning garments or are standalone pieces – have been hot property for a while now, but Kasia Smutniak has given us a brand new reason to love them. There are countless ways to work the collar into your wardrobe, and we’ve shown you just a few methods above. You can go conventional with a simple shirt, go flirty and feminine with a collared dress, or be a little bit cheeky and cheat by adding a collared necklace or neckpiece to your existing outfit. We won’t beat around the bush… we love Hilary Duff! We loved her back in the Disney/Lizzie McGuire days (don’t pretend you didn’t watch it!) and we love her in all her married, yummy mummy glory too. A few publications have been keeping a beady eye on Hilary’s post baby weight, but we honestly couldn’t care less because we think she looks as stylish as ever! We adore how Hilary Duff transformed her simple jeans and vest top look by injecting some colour into it by way of a bright, structured blazer and to-die-for heels in a gorgeous, summery shade of turquoise. Here’s what you need to steal Hilary’s style: Yellow structured blazer, £65, available at Topshop Blue skinny jeans, £47, Cheap Monday available at Far Fetch Grey stretch jersey vest top, £7, Ellos available at La Redoute Turquoise platform heels, £15, available at Boohoo [Image]
Read MoreReturn of The White Shoe
It is with a mixed sense of relief and reluctance that I am writing this post. Relief, because the fiercely guarded fashion circle has decided to allow back into its chic environment a shoe once sent into exile in the depths of Epping Forest, Essex (ahem), and reluctance because the connotations associated with The White Shoe, are, well, not so positive, to put it nicely. Autumn/Winter 2012 heralded a new era for the once-outcast white shoe. Platform trainers (cue: Baby Spice circa ’96); the shudder-inducing white jelly sandal (we all owned a pair, stop denying it), and now, supposedly fit-for-fashion-purpose white footwear is back. And the big fashion names surely marked this footwear deja-vu with their stamp of approval. Just look to the powerhouse of all things chic, Céline, who rendered The White Shoe appropriate to be seen in, paired with its astronomical priced, super-luxe pencil skirts, bubblegum pink mannish trousers and that cerulean coat. Creative director Phoebe Philo did a beyond brilliant job of presenting The White Shoe in a desirable light, thanks to those slick half-wedge-half-heeled white court shoes and zip-front white boots. At Comme des Garcons there were sensible white lace-up brogues, while Valentino tended to our lingering need for all things delicate and ladylike, courtesy of Spring/Summer 2012, with angelic, ankle-strap, heeled ballet pumps. Even though the highest of fashion gods approve, do you? Would you catch yourself caressing a pair, either in store, or online with your mouse cursor, at either Mango or H&M – both high street stores offering pocket-friendly versions of the wedge/heel hybrid court shoe for the Céline-pining population? To make that question a little easier to answer, we weighed up the pros and cons of The White Shoe: Pros: They’re not black. Like the rest of your shoedrobe. If you catch […]

Watching all the incredible athletes during the London 2012 Olympics has inspired more than handful of people to get sporty. This is why, despite the Games being officially over for another four years (sniff!) sportswear collections are still a red hot idea, hence why Louise Gray has got on board and designed her own! The Scottish designer didn’t create a generic sportswear collection though – she had the first ever all-female horse racing team in mind! “I’m very pro-women as a designer, so when I was approached to do this project and read the amazing things that these women have achieved, it convinced me to get on board,” the designer told British Vogue. “They’re really strong female role models. “I took the silhouette from one of my most popular dresses and made it shorter and a bit sportier for the girls, and applied the colours in stripes. I wanted it to be graphic and bold.” Graphic and bold it definitely is, and you can see British jockey Hayley Turner, American Chantal Sutherland and Canadian Emma Jayne Wilson modelling the kit above. Do you like it? [Images]
