Is anyone really fit to replace Anna Wintour?

You might consider our proposition insane, if somewhat impossible, but it could totally happen. If the “new” age for women retiring in the UK is realistically lingering in the seventies, then Anna Wintour isn’t too far off. At 64, the impeccably bobbed, Manolo-clad Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue faultlessly oozes that polished glamour so many of us can only dream of inhaling from the printer-fresh pages of our monthly subscription Yet, what begins must end, and recent rumours speculating Wintour’s retirement have got the style set buzz-chatting – some with confusion, others with a glimmer of excitement at whom might be deemed worthy to take the helm of the world’s grandest fashion institution. So, instead of suffering sleepless, sweaty nights figuring out what will happen to the physical impression Anna has left on her regular FROW spot – if she ever decides to hang up that Prada fur coat – we’ve gathered our heavy-hearted thoughts and picked out five possible replacements. Yes, human replacements, not some page-flicking robot with impossible-to-attain hair. Having said that, who knows what the future holds? The WAG-turned-wardrobe queen: Victoria Beckham Churning out winning runway ensemble, season-on-season, VB knows a thing or two about what makes winning fashion editorial content. It doesn’t hurt that she’s permanently well-dressed, backed up by a good-looking brood and a super-successful, hunk-in-pants husband. Her consistency, business-meet-fashion discipline and taste for luxury could easily put her in the pool of potentials. Carries comes to life: Sarah Jessica Parker Hey, hey! Wintour’s bestie (they enjoy “private dinners” on the regular), Sarah Jessica Parker, is possibly the closest suspect we’ll get to having an A-lister take the reigns after Anna. Although the actress has denied all rumours about replacing the powerful editor-in-chief, they do share a love for fashion fundraisers, Manolos and pretty dresses. Kate Boss. Not Moss: She’s […]

Harrods and British Airways team up for catwalk shows in the sky

Remember when Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais into an Air Chanel plane for the much talked about spring/summer 2012 Haute Couture show? Well it looks like Kaiser Karl was once again ahead of the times, as catwalks shows in the sky are now actually going to be a thing! Harrods has teamed up with British Airways to make this happen, and will be using the A380 route from London to Johannesburg  for the very fashionable journey. “Harrods is delighted to have partnered with British Airways, bringing together two iconic British brands, to create a spectacular event,” said Michael Ward, a spokesperson for Harrods. “Celebrating the exceptional design of the A380, we were able to present the talent and creativity of our most respected British fashion designers, in a unique experience at 30,000ft.” That does sound terribly exciting – especially as the debut flight reportedly featured looks from Victoria Beckham to to Matthew Williamson to Stella McCartney, but don’t flock to your nearest travel agent to book your ticket just yet, as the flights are currently press-only. Still, this might be available to the public in the near future tool so cross your fingers and watch this space! [Vogue] [Image]

Beyonce rocks La Perla’s cage vest at the Grammys

We gushed about all the outfits on the 56th Grammy Awards 2014 red carpet on Monday, but the arrivals red carpet was only the beginning. We were blown away by Beyonce’s opening performance of Drunk in Love – so much so that we will forgive her for not walking down the red carpet with the rest of the artists (we bet they’re glad too because if history repeated itself, she would have stolen the best dressed crown and put everyone else in the shade). Beyonce looked even sexier than usual – apparently it is possible – on the Grammys stage, wearing a stunning bodysuit with a hand-made cage – complete with satin covered rods – from the new La Perla Cage collection. The three-piece 2013 ‘Cage’ Capsule Collection features a strapless bra, briefs, and a high-waisted short, and is inspired by the brand’s iconic ‘cage bustier’ which debuted back in 2007 and was even worn by fashion Queen Victoria Beckham. Now we know that there is only one Beyonce in the world and no one could possibly look better than her no matter how hard they try (sad face!) but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try and copy her this Valentine’s Day or any other day of the year. If you have a spare $332 lying around, the cage vest could be yours and you could stage your very own Beyonce concerts live from your bedroom. Hairbrushes at the ready!

Kate Middleton gets ‘Britain’s Top Beauty Icon’ award for the third consecutive year!

Happy New Year to all of our lovely readers! And we’re kicking off 2014 with one of the least surprising statements ever: Kate Middleton is awesome and everyone knows it! The Duchess of Cambridge has topped Britain’s Top Beauty Icon Award for the third year in a row, beating the likes of the gorgeous Holly Willoughby and even pop royalty Beyonce, who secured the second and third spots respectively. The survey was conducted by Superdrug’s Simon Comins, who had nothing but kind words to say about our future Queen… “The Duchess is always immaculately presented, but is styled in a way the average person can relate to, and take inspiration from,” he said. “Our customers definitely take note of Kate’s look, brunette hair colours and natural makeup have never been more popular, and it’s interesting that the majority of our top ten list this year have naturally brown hair.” An interesting observation as Cheryl Cole, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Scherzinger, Adele and Victoria Beckham – all of whom have luxuriously dark locks – made the Top 10. Still, we can’t help but agree with the results of the poll – Kate Middleton has had a phenomenal 2013 and we predict things will only continue to get better! Does Kate Middleton get your vote?

Cara Delevingne was the most Googled fashion name of 2013

After winning Model of the Year at last year’s British Fashion Awards, we predicted that Cara Delevingne’s fame and fortune would go through the roof. We definitely weren’t wrong, because the British model has only gone and secured the top spot in Google’s annual Zeitgeist list for fashion folk. Congrats, Cara! With all the things that have been going on for her this year, from ad campaigns to fashion week shows to new acting roles to rumoured relationships with One Direction’s Harry Styles, we’re definitely not surprised to see Cara Delevingne secure the top spot! So Cara is officially the UK’s most searched for fashion figure on Google (Victoria Beckham topped the Bing list, fyi), and has beat the likes of Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn (who came a respective second and third) with former CEO of Burberry Angela Ahrendts securing the fourth spot. We reckon a lot of that traffic must have come when she sensationally stepped down from her CEO position to take up a job at Apple! And it isn’t just fashion folk that Google has been monitoring all year; Coach was the most searched for fashion brand, with Hermes and Chanel closely following. Who have you been Googling this year?

MFL Team’s Christmas Wishlist

Happy December, everyone! This is the busiest month of the year for Santa and his elves, so we’ve always been firm believers in making their lives easier by compiling a Christmas wishlist for them. There’s still time to make yours and mail it to the North Pole, so get scribbling, posting and heck eve emailing to ensure you get what you want this Christmas. (Only if you’ve been good, obviously!) So Santa, please see below for our Christmas wishlist pieces. We’ve been very good girls this year, promise. Mince pies, carrots and milk in the usual spot… Love Team MFL x Farhana: I can’t venture out without music, be it at the gym, or on one of my long weekly walks. So, a trusty (read: stylish) pair of headphones is an absolute must. I don’t particularly like in-ear headphones, so these Layla headphones by FRENDS are just perfect. I love the mix of white leather and gold metal detail, and at £130, they’re just about in my budget. Now, to drop some hints! FRENDS Layla headphones, £130 Michele: On the top of my wish list is this gorgeous bowling bag by Victoria Beckham. Victoria can do no wrong at the moment and considering that I can’t get this bag out of my head at the moment…I’m inclined to agree! Victoria Beckham seven python bowling bag exclusive to My Theresa, £2,250 Maria: It might not look like much, but this is the absolute dreamiest bag I think I’ve ever seen. I’ve been in the market for a big bag that I can tote with me on a day-to-day basis and just throw all of my belongs into for quite a while now, and this definitely fits the bill. The colour is a trans-seasonal dream; when it comes to investing in high-end […]

Five minutes with… Caggie Dunlop

It’s no secret that we love getting behind new designer talent, and we aren’t the only ones! Singer, actress & fashion entrepreneur Caggie Dunlop feels the same way too, which is pretty much why she started her label ISWAI. (That’s “It Starts With an Idea”, just in case you didn’t read our post about it back in 2011) That, and of course her love of style and fashion! Caggie took time out of her busy schedule to sit down with us and talk us through her ISWAI vision, dish out some style advice for the upcoming party season, and much more. Here are a few highlights from our chat with Caggie Dunlop: How would you explain ISWAI to someone who hadn’t heard of it? ISWAI is an innovative brand that harnesses and platforms young designers, to give them exposure in a difficult industry. It is very much an extension of my style that is the continuous theme, which I’d like to think is fashionable, yet practical. One of your designers Michael Robinson has just moved to Balenciaga – you obviously gave him a good reference! What few words did you say about him? What did he bring to the ISWAI table? Michael is great, he really represents everything you look for in a designer, we were so obsessed by what he sent in. It was hard to choose from his designs. He has a unique eye and a quirky style that separates him from a lot of other people. It’s great seeing his career going from strength to strength. You like introducing new talent which we think is great for giving budding new designers a platform. Why are you so keen on new faces? Because I can empathise with them. It’s tough trying to break into the fashion industry, and […]

Marge Simpson recreates our favourite fashion icon moments

What’s your ultimate, most iconic fashion memory? Was it Kate Middleton’s Issa engagement dress? Perhaps you like to go classic and Audrey Hepburn’s Givenchy dress in Breakfast at Tiffany‘s is more up your street? Or maybe you like to go modern and sexy and Kate Moss’s recent Playboy pose has bumped the others off the list? Well it doesn’t matter, because Marge Simpson has channelled them all thanks to a series of photos by world-renowned artist AleXsandro Palombo. “There is a Marge Simpson is every woman and with this tribute I wanted to ignite the magic that is in every women; the strength, femininity, elegance, eroticism and beauty,” Palombo said. ” Each of these dresses really changed the course of the history of costume, giving a new aesthetic vision that has anticipated major changes in our society. “In many cases it’s the dress that has transformed a woman into an icon, but in many others, it’s the personality of the women that has enlightened the dress.” And we think Marge Simpson has, at the risk of sounding like an X Factor judge, made the dress her own! Click here to see the rest of the pictures, which include Marge’s take on dresses worn by Elizabeth Hurley, Victoria Beckham and Marilyn Monroe. We think you know the one!

The nominations for this year’s British Fashion Awards are announced

The nominees for the British Fashion Awards have just been announced this morning, and we can reveal that Christopher Kane, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, and Phoebe Philo for Celine will all be battling it out against each other for the most prestigious accolade of the evening: The Womenswear Designer of the Year Award. Victoria Beckham has done pretty well as she has received two nominations, one for Brand of the Year and another for Red Carpet Designer – both of which would be very coveted awards if she walked away with them. She faces competition from Antonio Berardi and Erdem for the Red Carpet award, and Alexander McQueen and Burberry for the Brand of the Year award. Marc Jacobs, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons for Dior will be going head to head to head for the International Designer award, while Cara Delevingne, Edie Campbell and Sam Rollinson are all up for Model of the Year. Yikes – we don’t envy the British Fashion Council for having to choose between them! Click here to check out the full list of nominations. The winners will be announced at the British Fashion Awards held at the  London Coliseum on Monday December 2nd. Who are your frontrunners?

New Look compares stats from all four Fashion Month cities – which one came out on top?

Did you know that New York Fashion Week was the most talked about of all four cities on those good old social networking sites this September? Oh yes, and Victoria Beckham – along with Alexander Wang and DKNY – were the top designer Twitter trends. Does that surprise you? We can never have enough VB, but we thought that as it spanned the most days and boasted and some of the biggest fashion Houses from Dior to Chanel presenting their collections, Paris Fashion Week would have walked away with that title. What do you guys think? You can check out loads of fun facts and statistics about Fashion Month in the infographic compiled by New Look above, which also contains info about celebrity appearances in all four cities, how much visitors spent, and most importantly of all, what the themes and trend highlights were. Despite all the stats though, New Look’s favourite city is our wonderful capital – London – which is why we were quite biasedly more than happy to share this information with you. Do you agree with New Look – is London the most stylish of all four cities?

Lea Michele rocks Calvin Klein jumpsuit for CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event

It’s nice to see Lea Michele easing herself back into public appearances. Glee’s leading lady attended the star-studded 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event in sunny LA yesterday (also attended by Victoria Beckham and Diane Kruger – two of the most stylish women in the world!) but still managed to hold her own in the style stakes. Lea Michele rocked up in a gorgeous cream coloured strapless Calvin Klein jumpsuit that showed off her svelte, slim figure wonderfully. She accessorised with a stunning powder blue necklace which complemented the creamy hue of the jumpsuit perfectly, but toughened the look up by way of some pointy black shoes and dramatic eye make-up. Her hair was swept off her face thanks to an effortless-looking up-do. We think cream is fast-becoming the colour of the moment. Kate Middleton wore cream Alexander McQueen for the Christening of Prince George yesterday, and now Lea Michele… who else will step out in the colour? [Image]

Roksanda Ilincic opens first London store!

Victoria Beckham’s London store isn’t the only one we have to look forward to next year, as it’s just been announced that Roksanda Ilincic will be coming to London! The designer will be opening her first ever store in London’s Mayfair – 9 Mount Street to be exact – at the beginning of next year, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome her (and her stunning designs) to our fine Capital. “Opening our first store is a huge milestone for me,” the designer said about the new chapter in her professional life. “It is crucial that it is here in London, and this incredible Mount Street site is the perfect location. “The store will be the home for the brand in more ways than one, and will be the ideal space for my vision for the label to be fully realised.” Roksanda is in good company too, as Mount Street is also home to the likes of Marc Jacobs, Christian Louboutin, Lanvin, Balenciaga and more. To gear us up for the launch of her new store, Roksanda has joined forces with Gary Card to create a three-week-long installation in the shop window that will feature eight of her iconic dresses. The dresses will be up for grabs exclusively at Net a Porter should you wish to purchase a little piece of history. We can’t wait for the shop to open- we’ll let you know the exact opening date as soon as soon as we find out! [Vogue]

The real reason behind Kim Kardashian’s baby wardrobe Insta-binge

When Kim Kardashian, world’s hottest-mama-right-now, decided to embark on an Instagram binge to introduce the world to her daughter’s teensy, top tier designer wardrobe, we looked at our sorry Zara hoard and felt the pangs of an under accomplished sartorial life. Whereas North West, or Nori, as she is affectionately referred to by her parents, will be running riot in her new, $11 million home in Céline sneakers and stripes, we’ll be sticking to the affordable permutations gracing the window displays of Zara and Cos. But we all know, the Noris and Blue Ivies of the world aren’t born with a silver spoon in their mouths, but rather a sterling silver Elsa Peretti Padova spoon, so Mummy K showing off North’s designer-packed wardrobe shouldn’t come as a shock, right? Well, anything Kimye do sends Richter scale shattering tremors trough celebville (even if its just casually arriving at Gare du Nord in coats du jour), so it was natural for us to wrack our brains thinking of the real reason behind every personalised caption Insta-pic Kim diligently took to uploading for the universe to ogle in a fit of motherly envy. And here’s what we concluded: A snapshot into Nori’s privileged wardrobe is Kim’s way of declaring her induction into the upper echelons of untouchable fashion. That’s right. Her constant mingling with ‘Ricky’ Tisci in custom-made-the-night-before outfits; befriending the lady, and then gracing the cover of Carine Roitdfeld’s CR Fashion Book, and sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week – not forgetting her infamous, floral-clad appearance on the Met Gala red carpet sealing the deal with regards to a Wintour-Dashian friendship- was Kim’s way of not only screaming “I’m back!,” but of creating a watertight, almost Victoria Beckham-esque fashion body image – and, fast becoming the poster girl for the old age […]

Paris Fashion Week SS14 highlights from Elie Saab, Stella McCartney, Saint Laurent & more

Another day at Paris Fashion Week, and the likes of Elie Saab, Stella McCartney, Saint Laurent, Giambattista Valli and Emanuel Ungaro all presented their spring/summer 2014 collections. As we are huge fans of highly glamorous red carpet worthy dresses, Elie Saab is always one of our most highly anticipated shows on the Fashion Month calendar… and luckily, the Lebanese designer didn’t stray from his usual ultra glam aesthetic for his spring/summer 2014 collection. His models floated down the runway in his effortlessly beautiful and intricate dresses which were comprised mainly of delicate lace and sexy Chantilly lace, and also strutted their stuff in panelled jumpsuits, fierce minis, floral pieces and even a seventies-inspired halter neck dress. We know that Stella McCartney likes to dabble in sportswear (being very active herself and also collaborating with Adidas) and that was definitely translated in her spring/summer 2014 collection. Sporty pieces with a masculine meets feminine theme were running strong throughout the very wearable and very versatile collection.  Favourites include the cap sleeve crocodile print dresses, organza dresses, layered zip detail dresses, and some stunning trouser suit combos. Handbags were held under the arm a’ la Victoria Beckham! Over at Saint Laurent, Kanye West’s best pal (not!) Hedi Slimane presented what can only be described as a versatile and courageous collection. It lacked a strong, possessing theme which his previous outings had, which means that he is less about defining the Saint Laurent brand and putting his stamp on it and more about having fun with it and experimenting. Both Hedi Slimane and the Saint Laurent Paris label are growing up and growing into their new roles; this is Saint Laurent as you’ve never seen it! Emma Watson talks The Green Carpet Challenge in Net a Porter’s The Edit

Not just a pretty face, that Emma Watson. We guess we kind of knew that when she got accepted to study at Brown University in America, but now her latest project, the green carpet challenge, has definitely proven it. The green carpet challenge is the brainchild of Livia Firth, an initiative that supports ethical and beautiful fashion which the likes of Victoria Beckham, Roland Mouret, Christopher Kane, Erdem and Burberry have all got behind. “I would love to wear garments that are ethically sourced, but there aren’t enough options for me to be able to do that realistically,” Emma told The Edit. “It just seemed like the project was something I had to do, something I’d been waiting for.” And since it was the Emmys last night (more on that later) we also thought it was appropriate to hear how Emma herself prepares for the red carpet… “Getting ready for an event can feel like a lot of pressure,” she began. “You have to consider, ‘Will people see up my skirt? If a flash goes off, can you see through this?’ So I’ll do a test sitting, a test standing… It’s nerve-wracking. People really scrutinize. “On the red carpet, I’m usually in so much discomfort – my shoes are uncomfortable, I can’t breathe in the dress. I don’t compromise like that in my everyday style.” You’d never guess that Emma, or the rest of the stars, are uncomfortable in their red carpet clothes, would you? You can see the rest of the ‘green’ clothes Emma is modelling in the new issue of Net a Porter’s The Edit.

Kate Bosworth ladylike in Lanvin for The Edit

Kate Bosworth is gracing the front of The Edit’s latest issue – and grace really is a key word as she looks ladylike, elegant, and well, graceful! Kate proves that she is a style chameleon and a dream for all red carpet designers to dress as she rocks every single outfit she is given – from Victoria Beckham to Gucci to Dolce and Gabbana and more! She also opens up about a number of topic too, including her relationship with her step-daughter, her evolving personal style, and of course, choosing a designer for her wedding dress… “There was no doubt about the designer,” she began, referring to Oscar de la Renta who she has asked to create her gown. But there was a feeling of, ‘Do I dance around the bridal thing and wear a dress I could wear for the red carpet?’ But lately I’m all about coming out of my comfort zone and challenging myself, so I decided to embrace the moment. It has been a real discovery of that part of myself.” You can read more in Net a Porter’s The Edit.

5 of the best new season transitional dresses

The new season is upon us, which can only mean one thing – it’s time to revamp our wardrobes! Here are five gorgeous transitional dresses to ease you into the new season: 1.– If you’re not ready to put your arms away (perhaps you’ve still got your summer tan) then this wool dress will still keep you warm. Victoria Beckham wool blend felt and checked wool mini dress, £1,590 2.– A fun flirty dress to wear with black tights and killer heels; abandon the tights when the weather warms up next year or if you’re heading to a swanky indoor party. Lover leopard print silk gauze dress, £480 3.– It’s going to be getting a lot darker a lot earlier (sob, sniff) so if you want a bit of a bright pick-me-up, we’d suggest looking no further than this stunning multi-colour dress. No chance of feeling the autumn/winter blues in this badboy! Peter Pilotto Isabel printed stretch crepe jersey dress, £495 4.– There’s never a bad time to invest in a DVF piece; come rain or shine the New York based designer always delivers with her figure-flattering mood-lifting creations and this autumnal printed dress is no exception. Is Kanye West making Kim Kardashian quit her Sears line?

If we are to believe the rumours, our days of snapping up some affordable threads with Kim Kardashian’s name on them might be numbered. It’s being reported that Kanye West has encouraged Kim to cut back her more reasonably priced clothing collections – the one at Sears in particular – as he apparently wants to make her the next Victoria Beckham. “He wants Kim to distance herself from the Kardashian clothing line that is sold at Sears because he thinks it’s tacky, and cheapens her brand,” an ‘insider’ reportedly said. “Instead of having Kim’s designs sold at a discount department store, Kanye wants her to design a line that would be sold in posh stores such as Henri Bendel, Harrods and Bergdorf Goodman.” Hmm, we’re not sure what to make of this. We love what Victoria Beckham has become, but we’d be a bit gutted if we didn’t have any more Kardashian Kollections to look forward to. After all, the upcoming Kardashian Kollection for Lipsy looks pretty exciting and we are literally counting down the days ‘til it arrives! What do you think should happen to Kim’s fashion empire?

Kerry Washington tops Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed 2013 list

Congratulations to Kerry Washington, as the stunning actress has just been given the coveted top spot in Vanity Fair’s prestigious Best Dressed 2013 list. Do you guys agree with the magazine’s choice? Predictably, Kate Middleton and Victoria Beckham also made the list, coming third and sixth respectively. Other ladies who inevitably made the list are Gisele, Beyonce, Dita von Teese and Charlize Theron, who secured the seventh, 11th, 27th and 34th spots. The blogosphere has expressed its disappointment that Michelle Obama didn’t make the list, and we definitely feel the same way as the First Lady has been on fire this year as far as her sartorial choices are concerned. The red hot Jason Wu dress that she wore to the Inauguration Ball alone was best-dressed worthy, don’t you think? We’re also pretty miffed that the likes of Alexa Chung, Olivia Palermo, Jessica Alba, Blake Lively and Miranda Kerr were omitted given their enviable styles. Click here to check out the full list and let us know who else you think should have been included.

Alexander Wang takes Balenciaga AW13 bags in a minimal direction

We’ve waited a long time to see what Alexander Wang had up his sleeve for Balenciaga as far as arm candy was concerned, but now the wait is finally over as images of the highly-anticipated handbags have finally arrived! Say hello to the  ‘Le Dix’ bags… but have they been worth the wait? To say that Alexander Wang has taken Balenciaga’s bags in a new direction is a bit of an understatement. And understatement, incidentally, is the key word here. Gone are the loud and fussy designs and colours commonly found in the highly coveted Balenciaga bags, and in their place are far more subtle and minimalistic traits instead. We shouldn’t be surprised though, as Alexander Wang said from the get go that he would be incorporating his signature minimalist style with Balenciaga’s historic designs. And we can definitely tell that the designer has been trawling through the Balenciaga archives for the autumn/winter 2013 accessories collection, as these bags are definitely a nod to the Parisian label’s past. This new, simpler direction might mean the start of a new Balenciaga customer as a whole – think less Khloe Kardashian and more Victoria Beckham. But while we can’t deny the power of a clean, chic and classic bag, we think we’re going to miss the attention-grabbing bags that Nicolas Ghesquière did so well. Only time will tell how these bags are received in fashion and celeb world! Do you like the brand new Balenciaga bags? Is this too much of a change too soon?

Cameron Diaz named Pour La Victoire Artistic Director, shoe collection coming soon

Well Cameron Diaz certainly doesn’t do things by halves, does she? Not only has the Hollywood actress been named Artistic Director of accessories label Pour La Victoire, but she has invested her own money into it by buying an undisclosed stake in the parent company. She will therefore oversee the brand’s upcoming handbag and shoe collections, and have an input in the advertising process. “Pour La Victoire gives me the opportunity to create something timeless,” Cameron told WWD. “There’s a lot I have to learn about the business. I’m interested in learning how collections are created. The word ‘fun,’ I want to say that it’s going to be fun, but it’s deeper than that.” Cameron Diaz’s first Artistic Director duty is releasing a comfortable but still totally fabulous collection of shoes – something she has more than a bit of knowledge about… “I live in heels 10 hours of the day. I know comfort in shoes,” she said. “There are some shoes you would die to wear but they are painful. When I was younger, it was a fight to the death with my shoes and who was going to win. I want to have really great, functional shoes that are staples of the line.” She definitely sounds like she knows what she’s talking about. We could have a future Victoria Beckham on our hands here. We can’t wait to see what Cameron D has up her sleeve, so watch this space!

Zooey Deschanel: “I want to be a feminist and wear a Peter Pan collar. So what?”

With her ruby red lips and perma-glossy brunette locks, the words glamour and Zooey Deschanel seem to fit together rather seamlessly. Hence why it doesn’t come as a surprise to find the New Girl actress and She and Him singer covering Glamour UK’s latest issue. Even though Victoria Beckham was crowned Woman of the Decade at the Glamour Women of the Year awards earlier this month, Zooey is the perfect cover star for the Women of the Year issue. The magazine actually has four cover stars this month – Rebel Wilson, Myleene Klass, Harry Potter himself Daniel and of course Miss Deschanel, but she is by far our favourite this time around. The piercing blue eyes and cute quirkiness do it for us! Her interview is also pretty bold and outspoken, which may surprise you – especially when she speaks out about feminism. “I’m just being myself,” she said. “There is not an ounce of me that believes any of that crap that they say. We can’t be feminine and be feminists and be successful? I want to be a f–king feminist and wear a f–king Peter Pan collar. So f–king what?” (We took out the expletives in the title!) Head to the Glamour website to check out the other three covers and let us know which one is your favourite!

Fausto Puglisi’s debut Emanuel Ungaro Resort collection

Fausto Puglisi’s first Resort collection for Emanuel Ungaro was always going to be an interesting one; the highly-anticipated show wasn’t quite what we – or anyone else for that matter – were expecting though. It was an infusion of sleek meets street meets chic meets urban. Or to use Fausto Puglisi’s exact phrasing, “to eat a hamburger wearing a Harry Winston ring.” Hmm. Some might argue that there was a bit too much going on for it to make any kind of impact, but others (us included) will have enjoyed the experimental direction he took the collection in. It had the sharpness of a Victoria Beckham collection, the print of a Marni offering, and the sleek colour infusion of a classic Diane von Furstenberg catwalk outing… all with an original Emanuel Ungaro twist! Some of our favourite looks that were pulled together included a coral and purple dungaree dress teamed with a polka-dotted top, some printed high waisted palazzo pants teamed with a pastel pretty long-sleeved top and a monochrome floral maxi dress. What do you think of the collection? Too much? Not enough? [Images]

Are Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora designing a clothing line?

The big question on everyone’s lips this morning is: Are BFFs Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora designing a clothing line together? If we are to believe The Sun (meh), then yes they are – and that is our cue to start celebrating! “Rita and Cara have been talking about the idea for weeks now,” a source allegedly told the red top. “Cara has great fashion industry contacts and Rita loves her clothes and keeps up with trends. “They think a line could compete with those released by Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss. Rita’s become increasingly matey with Chloe Green and has mentioned the idea to her in the hope that she might help get it to her dad, Topshop boss Philip.” We definitely think befriending Chloe Green is a step in the right direction. We’d love to see a Rita x Cara clothing line. Expect snap back caps, wedge trainers, printed trousers, loud logo tees, and more! Hopefully a more official source will step in to confirm or deny these rumours. Fingers crossed it’s the former! [Grazia]

“Just because you are a Queen or Princess it doesn’t mean you can’t be sexy” – Roberto Cavalli on Kate Middleton

So yesterday we told you that all of Karl Lagerfeld’s weird and wonderful quotes were being published in a fabulous The World According to Karl book, but he isn’t the only outspoken, quotable fashion designer out there. Roberto Cavalli is also prone to saying some interesting things, and his latest interview with Vogue (which he gave in conjunction with four of his bespoke dresses launching at Harrods) was no different. His comments about dressing the Duchess of Cambridge were particularly noteworthy… “A princess should be sexy,” he said. “She is young, she is beautiful – I would like to create something special for her, but nothing too bold. I would like to prove to the world that Roberto Cavalli can dress a Princess. Maybe I would use a print, keeping it young, sophisticated and sexy. Just because you are a Queen or Princess it doesn’t mean you can’t be sexy.” Do we think this has affected his chances to dress Kate Middleton? Who can say? Still, even if our future Queen doesn’t wear his designs, he still has a loyal friend in Victoria Beckham, who was recently named Glamour’s Woman of the Decade. That’s almost the same as a Queen, right? “Victoria Beckham, she is in my heart,” he said. “I remember when she asked me to design the Spice Girls costumes for the reunion in 2008, I was so surprised and pleased because I really didn’t like the competition – Dolce & Gabbana. “She is intelligent, but also very shy. I was once on the red carpet with her and she made me hold her hand because she was so nervous. She represents a little bit of England to me.” Aww – Victoria Beckham, scared of a red carpet? Who would have thunk it?!

Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2013: The best dressed!

It’s already a busy week for the red carpet! Monday night saw the prestigious CFDA Awards take place in New York, and last night it was the turn of the Glamour Women of the Year Awards which were happening right here in London – at the Berkeley Square Gardens, to be exact. As we told you earlier, Victoria Beckham walked away with the ‘Woman of the Decade’ prize, but the best thing about her appearance (apart rom the fact that she took her very dapper looking son Brooklyn as her date) was her outfit. Sure, it was black which is big favourite with Posh, but it wasn’t one of her own designs – it was in fact Maison Martin Margiela which came as a pleasant surprise. Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays debuted her new longer hairstyle (and also showed us how her baby bump is progressing) on the red carpet, while new yummy mummy Fearne Cotton showcased her post-baby figure in a bright blue dress. Also brightening things up on the red carpet were Myleene Klass and Les Mis star Samantha Barks, who both wore bright fuchsia dresses, while Jessie J also went for an interesting, eye-popping blue ensemble. Kylie Minogue didn’t put a foot wrong on the red carpet either, as she followed in Kate Middleton’s footsteps by stepping out in a gorgeous peach dress. Peach is definitely having a moment! Take a look at some of our best dressed schlebs from last night’s event: Samantha Barks in Roland Mouret Rita Ora in Marchesa Naomi Campbell in Alexander McQueen  Jessie J in Gucci Victoria Beckham in Maison Martin Margiela Kylie Minogue in Moschino Frankie Sandford in Halston Heritage  Fearne Cotton Myleene Klass in Rachel Gilbert  Jourdan Dunn Hayden Panettiere in Black Halo Eve Cara Delevingne Joanne Froggatt in Alberta Ferretti

Are you suffering from Poshitis?

Are you suffering from Poshitis? No we aren’t delirious from all of last night’s exciting CFDA action, Poshitis is in fact a real condition and there’s a good chance a lot of you lovely readers (us included) might be suffering from it. Still don’t know what we’re badgering on about? In a nutshell, Poshitis is the name given to us women who carry humungous handbags (probably more than our body weight) in the crooks of our elbows, a’ la Posh Spice. Hence, the name! However, as stylish and on-trend as copying Victoria Beckham might be, physiotherapists warn that it isn’t doing our bodies any favours. “We have seen handbags which weighed a huge 1½ stone. It can cause repetitive strain injury and pain in the shoulder and neck,” said physiotherapist Sammy Margos. “Women may think they are following a catwalk trend but they are storing up trouble. We have seen a huge increase in shoulder and neck problems and killer heels can add to the pressure on posture.” Yikes – another fashion trend that comes with a health warning. Are you willing to give up hugging your humungous bag for fear of developing the dreaded Poshitis? [Telegraph] [Image]

Cara Delevingne gets naked for Marc Jacobs

Miss Cara Delevingne has followed in the naked footsteps of Bar Refaeli, Miranda Kerr, Naomi Campbell and Victoria Beckham (to name just a few), by stripping off and posing for Marc Jacobs in the ever-popular “protect the skin you’re in” campaign. The campaign was initially started back in 2006 by Marc Jacobs and his business partner Robert Duffy, in a bid to raise money for the New York University Skin Cancer Institute. Cara’s tee retails for just £23, and you can snap it up at the Marc Jacobs Collection shop in Mount Street, Mayfair or by heading to the marcjacobs.com website. We have a feeling they’ll sell out quite fast though, so be quick! [Telegraph]

Kate Hudson blows us away in thigh high Reem Acra gown

Yesterday we gushed about how well Kate Hudson could pull off “understated sexiness” but her look at last night’s Tiffany & Co Blue Book Ball was anything but minimal. We’ll stick with the “sexiness” though, as were struggling to think of a time when the gorgeous actress has looked better! Kate Hudson joined host of leading ladies from the likes of Michelle Williams, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, Carey Mulligan and Jessica Biel for the party, but she definitely walked away with the “best dressed” prize in her stunning Reem Acra gown with a thigh high split. And in the iconic Tiffany turquoise colour as well – something tells us this was no coincidence. The timeless old Hollywood waves in her golden hair and blindingly sparkly earrings completed her glamorous look perfectly. Muse’s Matt Bellamy is one lucky man! Ps: Jessica Biel and Carey Mulligan also got our sartorial seal of approval in their respective Elie Saab and Victoria Beckham outfits. Don’t they look beautiful?!

Aw, David and Victoria Beckham are reportedly planning to renew their wedding vows, 13 years after they first tied the knot. Hopefully more details emerge and then we’ll keep you posted! What a lovely couple – we’re just excited to see what Victoria wears on the big day! [Marie Claire]

Top 10 AW13 trends you can wear now

With Fashion Month well and truly over, have you been left with an impatient, fluttery feeling in the pit of your stomach from witnessing next season’s fashions? Naturally, fashion types want it all now, RIGHT now (and some do – catwalk fresh ‘n’ all!), but being six month behind the lust worthy collections doesn’t have to prove so painful. See, trends do a fair amount of season-hopping, and, just because the fashion calendar is currently on AW13, doesn’t mean you can’t recreate what you’ve just seen on the runways with your current wardrobe. So, to help you beat the fash pack and get ahead of the style game, we’ve picked out the top 10 AW13 trends that you can wear right now. Until next season, enjoy! Checks and Plaid Although Saint Laurent gave us copious amounts of plaid for AW13, as did 3.1 Phillip Lim and Emilia Wickstead; Dries Van Noten led the trend for SS13, with beautiful sheer plaid, layered in a wearable way.  Blue The new black, blue is having quite a moment! Roland Mouret, Elie Saab and Fendi made having the blues look fashionable for SS13, whilst Barbara Tfank, Oscar de la Renta and Michael Kors brought it bang up to date for AW13. Volume Cocoon coats, sloping shoulder knits and generously cut skirts were big (pardon the pun) at Emilio de la Morena, Stella McCartney and Céline for AW13, but Daks, Eudon Choi and Nina Ricci are already championing oversize for Spring. Minimalism Maxmara, Ports 1961 and Stella McCartney steered the minimalist movement for SS13, but AW13 saw Victoria Beckham, Céline and J JS Lee make us pine for sleek lines and fuss-free fashion. Wardrobe staples in a clean, print-free palette are winners. Capes Batman has never been chicer. Chloe, Valentino and Victoria Beckham made us […]

Christian Wijnants wins International Woolmark Prize

Congratulations to Belgian designer Christian Wijnants, as he has just been crowned the winner of this year’s prestigious International Woolmark prize. He beat off stiff competition from five other designers, with the panel of judges –Victoria Beckham, Diane von Furstenberg, Donatella Versace and Franca Sozzani – all thinking he had something special by making seamless hand-dyed pieces with Merino wool yarn. “Christian invented a new shape and made it possible with an industrial production process,” Franca Sozzani said. “His designs are flattering, feminine and sexy, a modern interpretation of wool.” As well as receiving a very tasty £65,000 cash prize, the designer’s winning collection will now go on sale in London’s Harvey Nichols and New York’s Bergdorf Goodman, so keep your eyes peeled for them in the near future. Congrats again to the very deserving winner!

Oz the Great and Powerful leading ladies are spellbinding at Hollywood premiere

Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz, ie the three leading ladies in the Wizard of Oz prequel Oz the Great and Powerful, each looked positively radiant at the Hollywood premiere of their film last night. They went for different looks as far as their outfit choices were concerned, but all three ladies were sartorially triumphant on the red carpet – which incidentally was a very apt yellow brick road! Mila Kunis went for the romantic, fairy-tale approach by rocking up in a lace Dolce and Gabbana number. There’s something very fantastical about it, and we think it’s the perfect choice given the nature of the movie. It might have been a tad OTT if it was full-length, so Mila and her stylist get extra points for picking the perfect length and making it contemporary and occasion-appropriate. We’re loving those bejewelled earrings too! Rachel Weisz rocked the simple, sleek and sexy look, in a gorgeous orange Victoria Beckham dress which complemented her stunning body and skin-tone perfectly. No complaints, there! Last but certainly not least, Michelle Williams went for a white Prada dress, which is very apt considering she plays Glinda the good witch in the film. Again, she could have opted for something in the romantic, frilly and sugary-sweet department, but went for the fashion-forward and modern approach instead. We approve – we approve a lot! Well played ladies – you all looked magical!

The iconic ‘Blade’ pump has been revamped with hand stitched crystals and an animalier pattern wash in an eye-catching fuschia, emerald and black colour concoction. Here are our three reasons for and against putting your name to a pair of these (ridiculously beautiful) heels: Yay Collectors’ item: part of the brand’s Hero Collection, these precious jewel heels are the closest you’ll get to wearing diamonds on your feet! Nay Sky high price: almost as high as its heel, the price tag (a gulp inducing £1,650) will have you in rent arrears and a whole luxury handbag behind your planned bag collection strategy. Not good. Sky high, ankle-cracking heel height: this ‘nay’ is […]

How do you spend Fashion Month?

Being a fashion enthusiast doesn’t necessarily make you a fashion insider. Much like the culture vulture who loves to comb through historical findings at museums for the sheer joy; the foodie who loves to consume food far more than cooking it, and the cosmetics hoarder who buys into the packaging rather than the actual benefits of the product, an unhealthy interest in fashion doesn’t amount to instant editorship. Mother Nature’s unmatched force couldn’t bring to a standstill the dressed-for-purpose fashionistas out in full force for New York Fashion Week, and we expect much of the same unfortunate weather (and fashion action) this side of the pond, warranting sludge-proof heels and frostbite dodging ensembles to combat the climes. Not that weather equating to a mini natural disaster could stop the fash pack from dressing up to the nines. But it isn’t just about the clothes. After all, Fashion Month is like any other month of ‘observance’, if you will. The parties, the social media pandemonium and seat allocation fiasco’s are next to none, and when you have images of super mum Victoria Beckham wearing a £2,000 handbag over her head instead of her arm (a symptom of sheer pre-Fashion Week stress), it begs to question whether the perceived glamorous pace of fashion week is really all that it is made out to be. Social media is like the fashion world’s fridge, full of annoying reminders and important titbits that make devouring the collections rolling onto the runway all the more essential. Show notes and seasonal trend hash tags aside, editors moaning about flight delays, everyone’s-Testino-now ‘selfie’ shots depicting OOTD’s (outfit of the day) and gluttonous updates about privileged seats and fashion friends are also the culprits for fuelling Fashion Month’s four week reign over our lives. To the fashion outsider, this […]

Gwen Stefani looks luscious in L.A.M.B for Marie Claire UK’s January issue

It’s no secret that we have a bit of a girl crush on Gwen Stefani, and you can pretty much see why with just one glimpse of the Marie Claire UK January 2013 cover. The 43-year-old (!!!) singer is doing a Victoria Beckham and donning one of her own designers,  as the gorgeous monochrome outfit she is rocking on the cover is from her very own L.A.M.B collection. She definitely wears it well! The pictures in the editorial are predictably stunning – no surprises there – but you can bet your bottom dollar that the interview Gwen gave was just as good. She opened up to the mag about marriage, her hectic lifestyle, and her involvement in the L.A.M.B brand. “”I’ve learned to delegate,” she said. “It still looks awesome, but did I pick the buttons? No, I didn’t. I missed two fashion weeks because they were when school started. I can’t miss the first week of kindergarten.” Honest as always Gwen, that’s why we love you. And it’s nice to know that she is a mum first and an ‘everything else’ second.

Ankle vs. Knee high – The Boot Off!

With the chill descending on the fashion world, many of us have already jumped into our trusty winter boots. And no, we’re not talking about the visually painful Moon boots, but in fact this season’s luxe leather, printed and embellished options. But fashion is never without a face-off, and in this case, a boot-off between the beloved ankle boot and the more serious knee high version is ensuing, making it pretty difficult to choose our preferred version! Ankle (in order of appearance): Eleanor-Dalmation Almond Toe Shoe Boot, £35, available at Stylistpick Rag & Bone Harrow Suede Boots, £385, available at Matches Black Stud Toe Ankle Boots, £65, available at Next   Knee High (in order of appearance): Pierre Hardy Glossed-leather and Suede Knee Boots, £655, available at Net-A-Porter Diane von Furstenberg Crystal High Heel Boots, £354.58, available at shopbop Kurt Geiger London Talia Boots, £295, available at Kurt Geiger The ankle boot is unarguably a wardrobe staple. Perfect for pairing with tucked in or slightly rolled up skinny jeans, or wear with trousers for a winter-appropriate diversion from open toe heels. They’re also the easiest way to toughen up a saccharine sweet dress for daytime, and you could even wear yours à la trendsetter Fearne Cotton, with frilled socks peeking out at the ankle. On the other hand, the suitably demure new season knee high boot is far removed from its previous dominatrix associations. The Equestrian trend has galloped into the lead with flat riding boots, whilst the fashion pack willingly took Givenchy’s leather knee high sheath boots into their stylish stride. Victoria Beckham is at the top of our knee high boot sporting list, having paired them with everything from a mid-length dress to a tight-fitting pencil skirt, and boy does that mother of four know how to make it work! New York Fashion Week SS13 highlights: Part 3

Don’t think for a second that New York Fashion Week is over. Au contraire, the fashion atmosphere in the Big Apple is buzzing like never before, as the likes of Marc Jacobs, Rodarte and Vera Wang have recently showcased their spring/summer 2013 offerings on the catwalk. Marc Jacobs went for something a bit different this season; if there’s one thing we learnt from his latest collection, it’s that the man loves his stripes. We mean really loves them. He loves them so much that they dominated the catwalk – big, small, vertical, horizontal, you name it, they were all there! “No romance, no emotion, just real power and force,” the designer told The Telegraph. “We wanted the girls to have sex appeal without them being vulgar or out there. It was about coolness as opposed to an ass-up sex appeal.” That’s an interesting way of putting it but we totally get where he’s coming from. Over at Victoria Victoria Beckham, the designer went for a chic and cool collection for the younger fashionistas. We love the structure of the dresses and the overall youthful silhouettes achieved. The prints are also second to none and we predict all of Young Hollywood will be fighting amongst themselves to be the first to try the collection out. You know we love a good embellishment, which is why Rodarte’s latest show was right up our street with its enchanting, bedazzling brocade designs. There was something very mystical and almost fantastical about it given the embellished, geometric pieces and vivid colours – kudos Kate and Laura Mulleavy, this is one collection that won’t be fading into the background.

Jason Wu’s outing also went down a storm, as the designer incorporated elegant materials with tougher edgier ones, achieving full-on contrasting looks. One of our faves for sure… kind of like 50 Shades of Grey meets Downton Abbey?  And we assume we weren’t the only ones really looking forward to Victoria Beckham’s new line since – judging by last season – every big name celeb will probably be stepping out in one of her creations at least once this year! We were really keen on seeing award-winning Altuzarra showcase his spring/summer 2013 collection too, and we can definitely see why he was victorious. You may remember that we’re mildly obsessed with Awards Season, so are always on the look-out for ultra-glam dresses for the occasion. This season, we got our first taste of red carpet glamour from Monique Lhuillier (standard!) as she gave her evening dresses an aquatic theme. Simply gorgeous! DKNY gave us another instantly wearable collection with a range of standalone pieces and sexy separates for when you want to mix it up, while Diane von Furstenberg presented gorgeous, flattering, empowering pieces If we had the funds, we would shop our entire holiday wardrobe from DVF! Stay tuned for more coverage tomorrow! What has been your favourite look/collection so far?
